So… taking on a retelling of A LITTLE PRINCESS is an epic effort. FHB has many die-hard fans and I’m one of them.

Yes, I sat down and read all three books in one sitting.

Points for: 90s kid nostalgia; elimination of FHB’s racism/colonialism; decent job of translating the story from the late 1800s to the late 1900s.

Something was lost in translation, though. It was a little harder to get into Molly’s head than it was Sara’s. Could’ve been anything. I think had I not read the original 900 times and spent decades obsessed with it; I would have loved this book.

I think this is my favorite book of the trilogy. (Although to be honest, I always read them concurrently, so they all feel like one book in my mind.) I love how "the magic" of Molly's mysterious benefactor transforms not only her room, but also her life. After enduring Ms. Thacker's iron rule over the past year, I was grateful to see not only Molly, but Lucy and Evie as well, move on from Glenmore and thrive.

Out of the 3 books in this series, this one is my favorite. I'm so happy for Molly after all she's been through. Defiantly a good read. I'll be reading this series again.
