Part 1 of a 2-Part serial. Can be read as a stand alone with HFN ending!
It started with a kiss, a very public kiss…with the wrong man.
Brooklyn Jefferson (yes, daughter of that Jefferson) thought it was fate when Michael Wright (yes, son of that Wright), the man of her dreams, handed her a ticket to the Knicks’ game.
Then Brooklyn meets his younger brother, Alex. Then Michael meets her older sister, London.
Pretty soon both families are involved, and a simple love triangle is beginning to look more like a Rubik’s Cube.
Things get even stickier when the Jeffersons and the Wrights find themselves on opposing sides of the upcoming New York Mayoral election.
When dual scandals break out that have the potential to ruin both families, will love trump political ambition?
WARNING:Do to (lots!) of (fairly explicit!) sexual scenes, and adult language, this book is for readers 18+ only!!
DISCLAIMER: Although this is the first part in a 2-part series, it can be read as a stand alone, complete with a HFN ending! Book 2 coming in October!
This book was pure rom-com featuring two sisters who end up dating two brothers.
What worked:
- The writing was sparkly fun. - I liked the characters - I liked the political conflict that was introduced as the primary conflict
What didn't quite work:
- The two couple format. I was much more interested in London and Michael and thought the Alex & Brooklyn scenes felt like interruptions - The couples really didn't have a lot of "couple time" development Their connection was based primarily on sex. So the two relationships felt rather superficial.
23-year old Brooklyn has a thing for older men -- specifically, a crush on 36-year old Michael Wright, Corporate Attorney/Partner at Douglas and Foster. However, Brooklyn isn't even on his radar, not even after she personally finds a way to pick up the Knicks game ticket she won.
Oblivious to her crush, Michael texts his younger 26-year old (half) brother, Alex to let him know someone else from the company will attend the game. Needless to say, Brooklyn finds Alex to be a poor stand-in and Alex is extremely amused that's she attracted to his staid older brother.
Hi-jinks ensue when Brooklyn's older sister, 31-year old London confronts Michael about dating her much younger sister at a Gala. He knows that the truth has been lost in the translation and he also knows that he wants to get to know London better. A garden stroll leads to a passionate kiss witnessed by Brooklyn and Alex. Suffice to say, Brooklyn isn't happy about her man-stealing older sister poaching her crush.
The author doesn't string her readers along, the couples are soon matched by age, interests and compatibility. There are lots of laugh out loud moments and sexy banter that takes place between the couples. This book was a pleasant surprise, as it lifted me out of a dark funk while reading a very, very dark Vampire story. I loved Misters Wright & Wrong! Book 1 of 2.
I loved it. It was really good I received ARC and I'm so glad that Camilla Stevens wanted me to read and review her second novel. Alex and Brooklyn were really hot couple and Michael and London were super cute I can't wait for book 2!!!!! Thank you again Camilla Stevens.
I eagerly waited for Ms. Stevens second book after reading One Night. You have to be a great writer when you can take two different love interests in one book and be able to separate personalities and give each person their own personal flavor. This book concerns a set of brothers meeting and falling for a set of sisters. I love how she was able to show how mature the older siblings were compared to the younger couple, yet still keep the love scenes hot and steamy, and there were a lot, no complaints there :) I did say something about there not being enough drama in the first book and by golly, Ms. Stevens gave it to the Wrights and the Jeffersons in spades. I have to say I laughed hard at the political comparisons…if only, if only. Ms. Stevens has a quirky sense of humor and it shines through in her writing. She has now become one of my favorite authors and you will certainly enjoy her style of writing. She also offers a little nugget and tribute to One Night in Chapter 21, it was so cute and I found myself smiling all the way through.
This author is fairly new but I have to say that she has already found the sweet spot in pacing. I felt like the story didn't drag on, scenes weren't drawn out. When things got too stressful, levity and humor was introduced. The side characters were colorful in attire and personality. I'm glad there is a book 2 and can't wait to read it so that I can finish up the series.
Two sisters who end up dating brothers. I can dig it. However, one thinks she's in love with the older Wright brother. Until...*twists mustache*
You have sisters Brooklyn and London Jefferson. Brooklyn works as an IT specialist though her passion is art, and London is a partner at the family's law firm. Then you have Michael and Alex Wright. Michael is a lawyer at the firm where Brooklyn works, and his half brother Alex is, lets say a floating businessman. To keep this simple, Brooklyn believes she's in love with Michael because she has a thing for older men. However, meeting Alex at a basketball game, let's just say she takes off her rose colored glasses when it comes to Michael, or they've been thrown off in the throes of a lusty weekend she spends with Alex. And she questions if trying to obtain Michael is what she really wants.
London and Michael meet, there's sparks, explosions, and hotel room romps.
There's conflict when the Wright's father announces he's running to be New York's next mayor. And who is representing their dad's opponent, you guessed it the Jefferson firm.
I was more intrigued with the scandal that came out involving the Jefferson law firm incited by London's lame ex who dumped her after ten years of dating, than reading page after page of Brooklyn/Alex and London/Michael bedroom acrobatics. I thought there would be a love triangle or square, but that wasn't the case. A part of me is a little disappointed because I like messy, but these were two nicely packaged relationships where the L word is used seemingly for the first time with all parties involved, well maybe with the exception of London.
There was no real drama with Alex and Brooklyn and they weren't featured as often as Michael and London. I can't really say that I like when books start off telling the story of one character and then veers off into other character POVs that actually take over the story. I thought this would mostly be about Brooklyn but that wasn't the case, but London I must say held my interest more, so I'm not really mad about it. I guess the book just needed a better blurb.
You have to love grandma Lucille. She brought character to the story. You have to love her wit. It drove her son crazy. Clayton was wrong how he broke up with London. He was a straight up punk and a coward to boot. What made him think London would defend him? Really! Michael stood up for his lady love, London. He knew how he was going to handle Clayton. My best part was amazing, Alex antics to get Brooklyn to change her mind crush on Michael. That was smooth move.
Very enjoyable read about relateable characters that had you laughing in some parts You felt the love, family, betrayal and happiness Matching the two sisters to two brothers with a twist was brilliantly done and made the story very interesting Getting ready to read book 2
This was my first time reading something by Camilla Stevens and I was not disappointed. This was a great story about two sisters falling for two brothers. There was some humor thrown in and I liked the sisters' grandmother. Looking forward to reading the second book
Well,I read " SO WRONG " first, and kind of net most of the Wright and the Jefferson 's...Lol Anyway,I enjoyed the two Jefferson sisters with the two Wright brothers, and I can't wait to read the 2nd book in the series. 👍
I loved this book and it was so amazing how the Wright brother fell for the opposite Jefferson sister but in the end each couple matched perfectly with each other
Really enjoyed this book. It’s a light hearted read of two fated matches. Really sweet with no unnecessary angst. My first camilla Steven’s read and I love her style so won’t be my last
Beautiful story. Almost perfect… The couples ended with a unsatisfying HFN instead of a heart warming HEA. I guess that’s why the author followed up with a sequel.
This was my first read by this author and the story was enjoyable. I am very much looking forward to the second part and learning a bit more about these characters. I wanted a bit more scenes with the Grandmother and wished that both sides of the "scandal" related to both politicians had been revealed. This was a good solid read that I would recommend.
Firstly, there are many similarities in dialogue, characterisations, sex scenes, and plot points to the author's earlier book, One Night
Secondly, Stevens simply rewrites situations and attributes from popular figures here. The heroines' father, Frank Jefferson, looks like Daddy Knowles and his wife resembles Tina Knowles. Frank's character, meanwhile, is a mash up of Johnny Cochran, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson. Additionally, the heroes' father, Dick or Richard Wright, is Donald Trump through and through with Melania being renamed Svetlana here.
Given the author's indolence, there is nothing of substance or note in this book; just an easy, predictable, flimsy time passer.
A wonderful read about love, family trust and politics. I liked how the story was so entertaining and funny .I also loved how the sisters seemed similar in some ways as the brother's were so different. I absolutely loved the grandmother. This book is such a pleasure to read, I'm definitely going to read the next instalment.
Loved this book! London and Michael witty banter was hilarious, and oh so sexy! Once again, I'm loving Ms. Camilla Stevens. Look forward to reading more from her.
The Wright brothers are both awesome men and unique in their own way. The Jefferson sisters are fierce. I think they get from their grandma. This was a fun sweet read.
