He is the pakhan of the Russian Bratva She is the Cosa Nostra princess.
All she wants is freedom. All he wants is her.
But Bratva and Cosa Nostra don't mix.
Two dangerous leaders. Two powerful mafia houses.
It's a war. And there will be only one winner.
✶Warning✶ Can be read as standalone, although it’s connected with Sociopath Duet series. Pakhan is a two part series. 18+ due to sexual content, profanity, abuse, graphic violence and adult subject matter.
V.F.Mason always loved reading books and had quite a few fights with her mama over the genre she liked (romance, duh!) She studied filmmaking and thought that would feed her desire for stories, but that didn't happen. Finally, when she was tired of all those voices in her head, she sat down and wrote a book. It was a huge decision to make and she thanks her friends and family for supporting her in it. When she is not writing, she can be found with her friends doing all sorts of crazy things or reading recent romance books that were written by her favorite authors.
Hang onto your berettas, ladies. You're in for a mafia romance treat! The storyline, action and suspense was completely different. More than enough to capture my attention. Yes it had those cheesy moments, where you're like ahhhhhh and then there were those times you wanted to throat punch those mother.....you get the picture. Pakhan's Rose wasn't your traditional mafia read. You know what I'm talking about, where Joe blow, wrongs this crime family and the streets are paved in blood and everyone has sworn vengeance.
No this is the quiet kind. Evil and sinister. Someone, somewhere is plotting and plans are brought to fruition. Ahhhh yes, the bitter sting of revenge served cold...but I'm not gonna tell! Happy reading enjoy!
Two words. Fast paced. There was so much going on. The story flipped from distant past to present to recent past then flashed forward. It was a little hard not to get lost and I greatly regret not reading the Sociopath Duet first. There are a lot of characters at play here and it was difficult to connect to all of them or truly understand their roles and motives. It was obvious that I was missing something with regards to the backstory and you better believe I will be going back to discover it.
This book was intense. It was chock full of hatred, betrayal, vengeance, abuse, aggression, torture, violence, blood, death, lust, obsession and love. Dominic and Rosa were like a car wreck you can't look away from. Utterly fascinating. It didn't take long for me to become completely invested in their relationship. I also creepily wanted to know more about each of their pasts. Dominic's was an extreme nightmare and what Rosa went through (still not completely clear) wasn't exactly pleasant.
If I were to offer a word of advice? Take the words of warning seriously. This is a dark mafia romance and deals with themes that may not be suitable for all readers. Ain't nothing pretty about it. You won't find hearts and flowers and poetic prose. What you will find is something raw, dramatic, and incredible with a realness that has to be read to be believed.
P.S. Dominic's internal musings, at times, cracked my azz up!! His sardonic humour was hilarious and I hope to see more of it in the next book. Obviously he was my favourite character!!
An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review
Okaaay I think I need to stop with V.F Mason’s book for now. It’s getting repetitive already. Same plot, same theme. Same fucking annoying selfish heroine who thinks the world is revolving only around her. Same plot holes and jumps that are too tiring and frustrating to go through again. Same old predictable villains and betrayal. Blah fucking blah.
I will skip the next book already. I have no patience for this. It’s a shame that I really liked Rosa on Damien and Saphire’s book but she turned out to be a whiny little selfish bitch that only thinks about herself—her wants and needs. Ugh
OMG😭😭😭🥺🥺🥺😍😍😍😍 my heart! my mind! my mouth! its very unbelievable how this book made me feel especially i’m such a emotional b*tch 😂😂😂😂 I can’t help how i feel especially a book that IS GREAT LIKE THIS✌️✌️😍😍
OKAY I NEED TO BREATHE.....
OMG.....
This author just became my fave.
‼️‼️‼️💁WARNING! The book is A DARK ROMANCE SAFE HOT LOVE STORY BOOK.
THE BOOK TRIGGERS R*PE, Crime fighting, mob boss, violence and even crazy drama between family that made you very curious....
*but all those things that happened, the r*pe was from the past from the hero himself, crime fighting is about the hero’s part life to someone who mess with him and his bratva family and to the heroine of course, violence from both the hero and heroines past life and crazy drama between the heroines family wants the heroine to not be with the hero.*
SO....
Between the heroine and hero’s romance and relationship, those things never bothered them. Even with their past, both never made that an issue to destroy their moment together or what they want in their life to be.
I skip some part of the past because for me personally is just too much sickened, too f*cked up for my good and sensitive brain so i skipped it.
‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING.
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO.... where do i even start?
THE HERO IS A OTT LIKE SERIOUSLY OTT POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE!!!!!!
He really is obsessed with the heroine.
I REALLY LOVE THAT HE IS VERY PROTECTIVE OF THE HEROINE EVEN THE SLIGHTEST... he really doesn’t want to hurt the heroine eveeeerrr.... Even when the heroine’s dad being very difficult with their relationship but the hero never killed or harm her dad because he loves the heroine too much. He doesn’t want to cause her pain like that.
Even when the bad story comes and other hero’s would probably not tell the heroine because he doesn’t want to ruin the moment, BUT NOPE. THIS HERO RIGHT HERE ALWAYS TELLS THE HEROINE RIGHT AT THE MOMENT. because he knows she needs to know the truth immediately.... wowww
I lost count how many times he said he doesn’t want to hurt his woman. LIKE OMG!!!!!
“I HAD NO DESIRE TO HURT MY GIRL.”
‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT!
“She was mine the minute my eyes landed on her picture.”
‼️‼️‼️I LOVE THEIR CONNECTION! I can feel their love for each other and even at first time they see each other and shared a kiss, both just go on with it without even hesitation... even when the heroine is a bit stubborn but when he kissed the heroine she just go with it because deep down she knows it feels right about it. I ADORED THEM!
‼️‼️‼️MANY!!!! MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO EVEN AT FIRST AND ALWAYS!!! I lost how many times but like omg so cute😭 exactly what i want from a hero like him! AND A LITTLE JEALOUS FROM THE HEROINE....
“Don’t put yourself, Lorenzo, and the word honeymoon in the same sentence.”
“I NEED TO GET YOU OF THE CLOTHES YOU WORE FOR HIM.”
“NO ONE SEES WHAT BELONGS TO ME.”
“NO ONE TOUCHES HER. NO ONE BREATHES IN HER DIRECTION WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. IF YOU UPSET HER, YOU UPSET ME.”
“I growled a few times at men admiring her body. So they’d know to stay away.”
“After all, no one in this world had permission to touch what belonged to me.”
AND THE HEROINE NEVER BOTHERED WITH THE WHOLE JEALOUS AND POSSESSIVE SCENE EVEN THE OVER PROTECTIVE SCENES... She just adjust very well with the whole thing very cool and chill.
‼️‼️‼️I LIKE THE HEROINE! She was studying and want to be a surgeon. She is very smart and very sassy! Not know so much about defending herself like knows how to fight but still her vibe i think she would a person i like to hangout with....
I also likes how she just quickly adjust her new relationship and her boyfriend the hero being all that kinda mafia bossy boyfriend....
She always so sweet to him even when he was being all bossy to her.
“She cried out in exasperation, and before i knew what was happening, she straddled my lap, her heels digging into the soft black leather as she palmed my face.” (She talked to him very softly and gently about what she wants so he could understand her better. She did not push him or being difficult. But she’s being very sweet which i very much liked how she behaved around him.)
‼️‼️‼️THE HERO MANY MANY MANY TIMES ALWAYS SAID TO THE HEROINE AND EVEN TO ANYONE IN THAT MATTER; “SHE BELONGS TO ME. YOU BELONG TO ME. YOU ARE MINE. MINE!”
HE ALWAYS SAID MY WOMAN. MY LOVE. Many many times. Omg 🥺🥺🥺🥺
“My p*ssy. Mine and no one else’s.”
“I would have an opportunity to display my woman to an entire world and stake my claim.”
“SHE WAS MINE, FROM THE TOP OF HER HEAD TO HER PINK COLORED TOES.”
“SHE WAS MINE. MINE. MINE.”
“YOU ARE MINE. ALWAYS MINE. MINE.”
“YOU. ARE. MINE.”
“THIS MOUTH, BODY, AND SOUL CAN ONLY BE CLAIMED BY ME.”
‼️‼️‼️VERY HOT SMUT SCENES!!!!
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE IS A VIRGIN. THE HERO IS NOT BUT HAVE BEEN CELIBATE FOR TWO MONTHS even 3 months when they started the relationship...
“I DON’T CLAIM TO BE A SAINT BUT KRASAVICA, I HAVEN’T TOUCHED ANYONE SINCE SEEING YOUR PICTURE IN THE OFFICE ALMOST TWO AND HALF MONTHS AGO.”
And he was also very glad and thrilled that the HE WOULD BE THE FIRST AND LAST for the heroine!
‼️‼️‼️NO DRAMA WITH OW! DRAMA WITH OM but not too annoying and not too much! ;)
‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE HAVE A STALKER.
Dangerous but not too dangerous. He does not always follows the heroine around but he does pay attention to the heroine and have a obsession fantasy about the heroine.
‼️‼️‼️SORRY BUT THIS FIRST BOOK IS A CLIFFHANGER. THE SECOND BOOK IS THE MAIN HAPPY ENDING ONE FOR SURE. But don’t worry the heroine is in good hands and very much alive!
Very disappointed by the amount of rape in this story. There were too many disgusting descriptions of the villain torturing and raping his victims. Also, there is only one sex scene in this book and it is toward the very end. The ending was AWFUl. Hated it. Pretty ridiculous. After everything that has happened to these people, they deserved a happy ending.
Overall rating: 4.5 stars! Although this duet can be read as standalone, there are many connections with his brother's story Damien (Sociopath Duet). So I would recommend reading this series before to appreciate it even better. Personally, I loved them both like crazy. ❤️
This went from "want to read" to "maybe" once I realized that Dominic is a slut. From Sociopath's Revenge: "Women generally didn't interest me unless I needed to relieve some tension. I didn't much care if they got off. Once it was done, it was done." He tells us that he has a special room for his hook ups and only does them from behind so that they don't touch him. Such a charmer.
And naturally she is a virgin and unhappy about it. Also from SR: "I'm a twenty-two-year-old virgin, and with all the protection and restrictions you have for my safety, I can't get laid or go to a bar to get rid of it."
I might be able to get over this due to their pasts but then I might not.
What the heck was that ending?!?!?!?! What is going on! Who is Oliver? How did she live?
I tell you the author sure knows how to make a villain!!!! WOW!!! I was totally disgusted by him. It stinks that both characters have to go through so much pain. Are they ever going to be happy? I am glad the second part is already written, if I had to wait till it came out I think I would go insane!!
WOW read, slow at first, but then bursting out all over!!!
Even confused as hell with how the story ended, PR is ROCKSTAR! In the midst of crying and babbling like a nut, I've missed something vital in the final 5 or 6 or even 7 pages. I'm just not strong enough to go back and understand what I read. There is a decompression period I plan to take full advantage of......
Dom and Rosa. Man what a couple! Obsessive love requires a lot of energy and these two have it in spades! Dom is the Pahkan of the Russian Mafia or Bratva. Rosa is a Italian Mafia princess. Both are survivors of unspeakable pasts. They each took different paths, chose to exercise those demons in different ways. An entire ocean separated the two but yet they found each other. Two very powerful factions of the criminal empire. The green eye monster is working in the most unlikely places! Who said blood is thicker than water? With family like the piranhas circling around the two, things are sure to get quite bloody!
If you think you know the outcome for Dom and Rosa, forget it. If I hadn't read various scenes more than once, I would not have believed what I read. I am emotionally bankrupt and wouldn't have it any other way! Bravo VF, BRAVO!!!!!
Arrogant jerk. Sexy, smoking hot, delicious, arrogant jerk. The man exuded an aura of dominance and danger, and everything inside me wanted to submit to him, to let him have his way with me.
Pakhan’s Rose is the story of Dominic, Damian’s “Sociopath” twin brother. It is the story of the Russian Bratva mob boss, the Pakhan, and the Italian Cosa Nostra princess.
When Dominic sees Rosa’s picture for the first time he falls hard for her and does not hesitate to claim her as his own. He comes to an understanding with her father and starts dating her. When elements beyond their control start pulling on strings the Pakhan takes matters into his own hand.
As the daughter of the Don of the Cosa Nostra, Rosa has let a very sheltered life. But Don could not prevent the tragic that has shaped his daughter into the woman she is now.
When the Pakhan claims her as his woman she can’t deny the deep attraction and fascination with him
“I accept you and this lifestyle. I’m not an outsider. My father is Don of the Cosa Nostra. I know the responsibility. Life with you won’t always be roses. It will be guns and roses.”
Both, Dominic and Rosa, have had their share of tragic past and they try to find a way to heal each other and they both fall head-over-heels for each other.
They are a very likeable couple and that’s why the events happening will leave you utterly confused and anxiously waiting for the second book.
Holy shit, where do I start & how can I review this without spoilers? I don't think I can. I'll tell you this much, from the beginning to the very end is intense! Seriously, I'm ready to start reading it again. The ending is gut wrenching and slaps you right in the face with something you'd never expect! I'm going on strike and refusing to read anything else until Pakhan's Salvation is released!
The writing was a mess. Not only the time jumping back and forth was disturbing but also the grammatically and vocabulary errors made it hard to read and understand what I was reading at times. Sentences were missing interrupting the created scenes in your head, names were jumbled irritating me about who was who now. Chapters consisted only to reflect a mood in time, only a few pages long, short and useless. I had to check several times if this book really was the first in this series. Because it felt I missed some previous knowledge the characters referred to but none was given to the reader. Maybe a different series from the author?
This book was a screenplay and not actual literature.
For it being released years ago I would have expected it, to at least not present so many sloppy errors. Published and forgotten. No love from this author for the work it seems.
I know sexuality and eroticism plays a big role in this kind of genre and book, but there is a time and place for it and certainly not constantly occurring between action, stressful and suspenseful scenes, where it only interrupted the story flow and served no purpose than to make the characters look silly. A reunion with your dad after 5 years apart, and after 1 minute she only can think about how he physically has changed, which would be normal until she drifts again into the absurdity of commenting all sexual.
...”He would be considered hot among women, although I didn’t want to think about that.”...
Why are you then? It is so out of place and odd in this situation.
There was no depth to anything in this book. Not to the characters. Not to the writing and topics which only seemed to focus on petty and superficial things. Like the looks of people and the impact of it, petty jealousy, her virginity, the interior design of locations and some landscape and descriptions of the surroundings. The world building was none existing as we mostly only had descriptions out of an interior design magazine or were stuck in peoples heads not even knowing what the surrounding looked like.
The plot was interesting albeit nothing new. There was appeal in how the characters were straightforward even in their one dimensional view point and the romance took the lead. But this couldn’t cover up the lack of a proper execution in world and character building. In creating a story that flows in one piece, rather than be cut into individual scene strung up behind each other like a Dia show.
This book has sexy, suspenseful, thrilling content that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is mostly about the dark and glittery life style of mafias.
PARKHAN ROSE is a very different kind of mafia romance story when u will read you will find it different from others. Its full of suspense. This book has a fabulous blend of rose and domanics POVS and past present relations.
When domanic sees rose photograph for the first time he fells in love with her.But they both have there share of pain in the past which become the bride for there love. Its there unspeakable past that made them what they had. They each took different paths, chose to exercise those demons in different ways. An entire ocean separated the two but yet they found each other. This book is lot more interesting than the summary.
I am emotionally bankrupt .CANNOT THINK OFF WHAT TO WRITE IN THE REVIEW 5 captivating stars.
I do love a good mafia read and this was excellent. This is book one of a two part series. I'm so looking forward to reading more of Dominic and Rosalindas story. After the past these two have had I was so hoping they find happiness. I really can't say much about the storyline without spoiling it. If you like your stories gritty and on the darker side then I recommend you read this. I'll certainly be re reading it just before book two comes out. Loved it.
Hold on because everything you thought you knew about the brothers is about to be challenged I knew Mason would twist the dagger a bit more when she gave us Dom's story
He suffered longer Lost so many years Never came to terms with what happened
And WOW did she deliver Fast-paced edge of your seat action Emotional spins that will leave scars Betrayal that will have you tempted to throw your reader (don't because then you won't get to read how this ends) A couple of WTH happened moment's that will leave you feeling a bit lost And a love that stands against the opposition
This ends in a twist - pay attention to what doesn't happen 😎 and what is "thought" but not said
I had been waiting for this book for about a month, and I certainly don’t care so much wait for a good story and that's what this book was, a very good story.
I'm a fan of dark romances and stories of the mafia, what I can say? I love a dark and powerful men who fall on his knees for the woman they love.
I had previously read a book of this author and was Sociopath, a book that shares many aspects with Pakhan's Rose, but Sociopath is a little more darker, especially with Damian. Pakhan's Rose is the story of Dominic and Rosalinda.
Dom raised for years by the Russian mafia and Rosa having been born in golden cradle between the Italian mafia, both organizations being at war for years.
While organizations join the protagonists, there are situations beyond that for which they are attached, one and the most outstanding is that they have been abducted in the past, Don when he was just a child and Rosa when she was a teenager. The experiences and feelings about what they spent in captivity and what their captors made them, makes the characters manage to understand each other.
It's amazing the feeling you experience as you read the book, because you really understand the despair and fear of the characters during their captivity, an aspect for which I congratulate completely V.F. Mason because from my point of view, the story is well done.
While the story has clichés, a powerful alpha male, a girl with a past that haunts and comic supporting characters, I finished loving all of them.
This author has become one of my favorites, their stories are dark, painful, her characters are full of rage and strength; and it is precisely what makes them special in this and in the other books.
The only thing I hated was that the end left me completely in SHOCK, I have many theories that would like to express, but that will leave it to other readers.
After reading the previous duet by this author, I knew going into Pakhan's Rose that it wouldn't be a light and fluffy read, just like the other two books. What I didn't expect was the amount of violence shown/mentioned in this towards the women and even the dog. The villain in this was completely psychotic and I don't know how no one saw it in him since he was around them so much but acted completely different when he was.
Dom was completely head over heels for Rosa but I kept waiting for him to tell her about his past and he never did.
Also...could we not have had a different ending to book 1? In Sociopath's Obsession (Sociopath Duet, #1), the book ends with the hero getting shot and falling over a cliff, making the heroine think he had died. Five years pass before he finds his heroine again. In this one, Rosa is tortured by the villain and is "killed" in front of the hero before he can save her. I know, I know. It wasn't really her since the last chapter (a year later) shows she hadn't really died but come on...it could not have ended a different way?
On to Part 2 in this set. I really need to see how Dom found out she was still alive and how it happened since it looked like she had really died in this one.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Honestly it was so boring and nothing made sense or was realistic. Overall the story was just really hard to follow because every chapter went like this:
Chapter one - sixteen years ago Chapter two - two months ago Chapter three - five years ago Chapter four - present day / three months ago (wut)
SO CONFUSING. Also a lot of the content was straight up just copy and pasted from the first book.
Y ahora digo... QUE ES ESE MALDITO FINAL DE NUEVO AL ESTILO DAMIAN!!!!?????? NO NO Y JODIDAMENTE NO! Y encima lo de Oliver? Angelica? NO ENTIENDO NADAAAAAAA JODER! Quiero venganza!
You need to have read Sociopath otherwise it won't make much sense. This book follows the story of Dominic.
This book is a bit different because it takes place in the Bratva & Cosa Nostra world. Dominic is marked by what is done to him and his brother. His live if darkness until he meets Rosa. Rosa is strong, full of life and kindness. The light in his darkness. I loved their interactions.
It is part of a duet so there is a big cliffhanger at the end.
DNF- I must be missing something because this book is confusing as hell. There is so much name dropping of characters I don’t know anything about. Who the heck is Damian? And Saphire? Plus this book has time flip flops which I hate. Okay I saw in another review that there’s another duet about Damian who is the twin of this H .the review said you would probably be confused if you hadn’t read those. Check✔️
