Greyhound Diary

Rate this book
The Greyhound Diary Travel Guide is a depressingly hilarious roaming narrative. A postmodern Odyssey from the backwoods of Wheatland to the lost highway in West Memphis. From the trashed streets of Newark to the industrial cesspool that is Cleveland. Trapped inside the Turtle Boat with tattooed clowns and freak-show white trash, a grueling masochistic non-stop journey into the heart of fear. Everyone, regardless of age, race, color, creed, sexual orientation, class distinction and/or drug and alcohol dependency will relate to this universal saga steeped in American popular culture. This horrid tour is a cynical account of what it feels like to be out there on the bus in the middle of nowhere crawling around at ten miles an hour with Amelia Earhart's retarded brother at the controls. This is everything you've forgotten on those trips home from college. A fascinating, compelling ride

James Inman is a genius. He is hilarious. And he is an amazing writer. Inman tells it like it is without mincing words and worrying that your feelings will be hurt, or that your wimpy little personality will be offended. He is prolly not for everyone, but.. If you love comedy, smart comedy, you will adore this book. I also highly recommend the Documentary "The Unbookables" which features James "in action." My only issue with James is this: I need MORE. More videos and more James Inman writing. As I get older, I am so much more picky about what I read and watch. I am never disappointed with his comedy appearances and writing.

I first saw this as one of those standup comedy video things on YouTube… I remember laughing myself silly when watching it… When I found out it was a book… Of course I had to buy it and read it… It took me like an hour and a half… Best hour and a half I've spent reading a book in a long time LOL it's even better in print! Everything he says… about writing the Greyhound bus is true! From the crappy sound system and unintelligible announcements to the weird people that ride the bus with you to the horrors of the bus bathroom on board… It's all true! Absolutely hysterical fun read!
