Dr. Trevor James didn’t want or expect anything from anybody. He worked every free minute he had and kept himself shut off from almost everybody. He had no intention on living his life any other way after losing the love of his life. Everything was going according to his plan until two interruptions started to change his way of thinking… His father’s illness and Ryann Payne. Ryann Payne lived a life of simplicity. She was happy with her modest life as a bartender and living a life where she answered to nobody. She surrounded herself with the things that she loved, never taking anything for granted after losing what she loved most before. The last thing she expected was to meet Trevor, Mr. Intense. Both Trevor and Ryann find out though that no matter how broken you are there still might be someone out there that can mend you and maybe, just maybe, bring you the happiness you deserved all along. If you let it that is.

Overall, this was a super sweet story and a short read and I enjoyed it, for the most part. I was definitely a little disappointed because I was blown away by the blurb but I felt like the story felt short, or it was simply not my style.

This is basically a story were both main characters are pretty broken because of situations in the past. They suffered great losses and heartbreak and so they’re a little hesitant (or a lot in Trevor’s case) when it comes to opening their hearts again, which I totally understood and it’s what drove me to the story. Surprisingly enough, there is very little angst, and a lot of frustration from the male lead. He’s always sending mixed messages and his back and forths gave me whiplash. The heroine was great, she’s the main reason I kept reading the book. But overall I had a hard time connecting with the characters, especially Trevor.

Another pet peeve of mine, which again it might not bother other people is where two people are alone and talking to each other about a big secret, and the "big secret" is dragged on forever, while everyone talks about it but stops short of revealing what it is!! Ah, I’m not sure if I’m making sense, but here the whole situation with the hero’s past is referenced by everyone but you don’t find out until very late.

Both leads have to work on their healing, especially Trevor, this happens at a very slow pace, and thus the romance is very slow burning. There isn’t a lot of sex in the book, at a point I was afraid it was going to be fade to black, but no, there’s some hot scenes, just not to many, which I’m totally ok with. I did like all the secondary characters a lot, the family theme, and the ending is super sweet.

4 Push Me Pull You Stars

Do you remember Dr Doolittle? The old one. Not the new Eddie Murphy version. There was the Push Me Pull You. You never knew which direction it was headed. Some people are like that. We call it mixed signals. Or fickle. Or just bat shit crazy.

Ryann has had it with putting herself out there. She is content with her life now. One without love. But that's the price you pay for being burned. You choose to shut love out.

At first, I felt sorry for myself, but then I had a revelation. I would never let anyone take something away from me and never again would I think negatively. I had a life to live, and sure as shit, I was going to live it, with or without a man.

Trevor is bitter. He hasn't been home for years. He can't face what's there. The memories. When he meets Ryann, he feels what he hasn't felt in years. But he can't commit. He is more than hot and cold....he is like an oscillating fan of love. All over the place.

Trevor....Trevor...Trevor...He has me mad, frustrated, lusting, crushing but the pissed again. I feel like a yo-yo.

Yes sexy Trevor playing Ryann and himself. He needs a high five to head. With a lawn chair.

Ryann and Trevor need to heal. And they can heal each other if given the chance. But will are they willing to put themselves out there again? Risk it all. Again?

Two broken hearts don't make a full one, that is for damn sure.

Ms Taylor has once more given us a story that sucks you in. Makes you want give the characters a shake.

The very first book of Brooklyn’s I read was, Finding me. That was a few months back and I had won it along with my Twinny Shannon (Same name, too much alike friend.) in a giveaway Brooklyn had done. I was hooked. It had been my number one favorite book of hers. Until I read Brokenhearted. She had asked me to read it and review it as I always do. I had not been prepared for many parts of the book to effect me in the ways it did. She really has such a fantastic and intriguing ability to bring you into the world her characters live in and engage in their lives.

As I started to read about Trevor and Ryann I was immediately intrigued. Brooklyn eludes right off the bat to there being something in Trevor's past that has made him feel closed off and convinced him that he doesn't have the ability to love. He can’t offer what any good woman deserves. All the love and dedication as well as adoration that they deserve. It made my heart melt at the same time of being frustrated with him. He’s a country boy at heart and is returning home after many years of throwing himself into his work and hiding from his past and even a few that love him. He mourns for the loss of his first love and it’s partially what has kept him away from where he should have been for so long. He allowed his own anger and broken down parts of his heart rule him and take him away. When he’s called home and finds a position at the hospital close to his parents, he’s having to face all of that again and then some. He questions how he is going to be able to compartmentalize his life enough to keep the old stuff away. Can he do this? He thinks he can until some of the rocks start to tumble from the cracked stony boulder that covers his heart. Until the day he meets Ryann.
Ryann is such a strong and devoted character. She hasn’t always had an easy go with things. Being raised by a single mother who worked herself to the point of endless exhaustion, she knew she had to make her life different. There was a point she wanted more from life than just working. But life happened and that all changed with the appearance of a man who shattered her fragile heart. When he started changing and treating her horribly and damaging their relationship with so many things, she gave up a lot. She even gave up some of her self worth. She had to gather the courage to say enough is enough and to kick him away and begin again. She did that and she’s happy for the most part. She has the home she always wanted that she worked so hard for. She has a job she loves regardless of what anybody thinks, she has friends and goals. She also has her love of animals that occupy her down time. She really feels good about her life. Or does she? She thought she had it where it should be until the day she met Trevor.

Their initial meeting is the typical one of course. In a bar, with friends, and emotions all over. But that’s not where the connection begins. I felt like it did when Trevor went home and saw her helping her Aunt with the horses. One of the most powerful quotes of the book for me is where he talks about what the animals mean to him. It speaks volumes about him and his relationship with his parents. For Ryann, she knows how they need to heal. Having been through as much as she had, she wants to heal them like they have her. Once she starts talking to Trevor she feels deeply for him and she knows that he needs to heal. Forgive himself, forgive his father and forgive the one person that caused the heartache. He is so confused on what he feels anymore. Coming home wasn’t easy for him, but it’s even harder as he faces so much more heartache than he ever imagined. How can he figure out how to include Ryann in his life?

Trevor has to learn forgiveness before he loses everything. He has to change his connections with those who love him. Ryann needs to remember that she is so strong and brave. She deserves a happy life, regardless of what an abusive jerk has done or said.Together along with the loved ones they need to finish their story.

This isn’t just a book to be read, but rather a journey of healing and love for two complex souls. Live their journey with them and you’ll feel every emotion. You may even find a piece of you has healed as well!

Creative adoration (positives): I LOVE that Brooklyn included more about some of the supporting characters than I was expecting in this book. Just as I was asking some questions (yes, out loud TO my kindle. No judging! Ha ha) about someone or the situation, I had the answer quickly. The details are there that I felt is needed in order to bring some closure for the characters and the readers.

Creative indifference (negatives): For once, I don’t have any major ones. Go figure! Usually I say something about wanting more out of the supporting characters (yes, I’m so freaking nosy) but Brooklyn really took the time and effort to add in the bit of extra. Whether intentionally or not, I appreciate that. The only other thing I’d say is I was so MAD at a few of the characters at different times. I’d still like to punch them in the giblets!

Creative appraisal (overall): This has become my new favorite of Brooklyn’s. The emotions that she brings out in each book is always appreciated and I find such joy in that. But this one, woooooweeeee….. It got me. I can honestly tell you that the characters are ones that stuck with me. It’s funny how much reading a book can bring so much to your life. She wrote these characters that were real, raw and true. With a sense of depth and complexity that had you wondering…..

Expect to have your emotions cued up by this fabulous read!

My star rating: 5 out of 5 stars! I’d give 5 million, but of course the man is trying to keep me down and won’t let me! (Just kidding folks, a bit of crazy Shani humor there!)

This is the story of a doctor who got screwed over by a girl when he was 18 and was still acting like he was 18 when he's in his 30s. This one was OK. There were some problems with timeline where things weren't clear. The heroine seems like a sweet positive girl who has had some bad luck but the hero is a my moods will give you whiplash type of dude and I'm not sure I would have had her patience.

This was a very good story filled with angst, frustration, sadness, anger. It had it all. I loved Trevor even though I want to slap him around a few times to knock some sense into him. He's a typical stubborn, headstrong male who refuses to accept what's right in front of him because of a past that he won't let go of. Both H and h had major issues they needed to work through which made for an interesting story.

However, I do like my stories to have a few more hot and steamy sex scenes, which this story was lacking a bit. The attraction was there to some extent but I wanted it to be hotter, more intense.

I need to read the story behind Sadie and Max's relationship.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Trevor and Ryann have both had bad past relationships. Neither of them is looking for someone to fill that spot in their life. But when it happens there really is no escape. Especially when both of their friends keep pushing them together. This was a great and fast read.

Trevor and Ryann

*****SPOILER ALERT*****

Brokenhearted by Brooklyn Taylor. KU Read and Listen program borrow/listen. Dual POV. Dual style narration. Slow burn, contemporary romance. It's listed as 5 hours 58 minutes; I listened at speed 2.50 for 2 hours 23 minutes. Narrators Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell both read well, but I'm not a fan of the TX accent Maxine adopted. Content warnings: Leah lied to Trevor (she was never pregnant) and cheated on him before her tragic death; Jake abused and cheated on Ryann before she kicked him out (no on page DV); Trevor's father William died of pancreatic cancer; and Lewis is a recovering alcoholic who is revealed to be Ryann's biological father.

Location: Austin, TX

Dr. Trevor Evan James (28; aka Trev) was estranged from his parents for almost a decade. He and his father had fallen out over Leah. Trevor believed Leah was the love of his life, and he changed his plans when she told him she was pregnant. William, Trevor's father, tried to convince Trevor Leah wasn't the one for him, but Trevor loved her and ignored William. When Leah died in a car accident and it was revealed she wasn't pregnant and was cheating on him, Trevor was devastated and moved far away from his father. Almost a decade later, he returns home because his father is ill and his mother needs his help. Ryann Payne (24; aka Ry) was raised by her hardworking single mother, never knowing her father. She's an adult with daddy issues struggling with a verbally and physically abusive cheating boyfriend. Sadie, her best friend, called her to let her know Jake, Ryann's boyfriend, is cheating on her. Ryann sees them for herself, then went home and threw all of his stuff out of her mobile home. Jake went home to find Ryann had evicted him, and after a screaming match, he finally left. She gave up her dream of being a veterinarian because of him and is now a bartender who volunteers on Trevor's parents' horse farm where Jackie, Ryann's aunt, works. Their love story is a bit disjointed, but in the end, they are married and living at the James' stables. Lewis, Ryann's biological dad, and Tammy, her mom, got married and are traveling together. Maxwell and Sadie are no longer together, and Ryann doesn't know why Sadie broke up with Maxwell. Sadie and Mawell find their HEA in 'Cold Hearted.'

1.5 out of 5 on my spice scale

Brokenhearted is the first book I have read by the author, Brooklyn Taylor. It's a story of lost love, regret and trying to move on.
I enjoyed the story. I thought the characters were true to life. I especially liked Ryann...Trevor was a break of a downer for me. He was all lost in his "poor poor me" mode. I found the juxtaposition between his demeanor and his profession to be very odd.
Ryann, on the other hand, was a ray of sunshine. I fell in love with her right away. She was damaged in the past,as well, and although she built up a wall to keep men out; she didn't allow it to bring her down.
I had some difficulty in the beginning of the story with following along; the flow was a bit choppy for me. But by the second half of the book I was able to fall into the flow. The end came much too quickly for me.
I will definitely try more of Brooklyns' books.

This was my first book by Brooklyn, and while there were moments I enjoyed, and felt myself skimming a lot. It just wasn't clicking into place for me. I might come back to it and do a re-read and see how I feel about it a second time.

Brokenhearted by Brooklyn Taylor is the story of two people who have experienced tremendous heartbreak in their lives. Trevor James and Ryann Payne had both loved and lost in ways that left them feeling they would forever be alone. Neither of them wanted to take the chance of love again so their through themselves into their respective lives.

Trevor’s idea of coping with his loss was to leave the town he grew up in and more or less, cut his parents out of his life. He felt he was justified in staying away from his parents, specifically his father, because of things that his father said, regarding Trevor’s teenage love, Leah. In addition to cutting most people out of his life, after the loss of Leah, Trevor throws himself into his education and becomes a doctor. His chosen profession then becomes almost everything in his life. Trevor does allow one person to stay close to him throughout his life, his best friend Max.

Ryann Payne is a woman who has suffered loss in multiple ways. She grew up with the strong female influences of her mother and her aunt Jackie. She suffered the loss of an absent father and suffered another loss in her romantic life. When Ryann had finally had enough from her philandering and verbally and mentally abusive boyfriend, Jake, she threw him out of her home. Ryann used the pain and heartbreak from that relationship to fuel her desire to live her life. Ryann made the decision that the best thing for her to do was to live her life to the fullest, save a new romantic relationship. Despite pressure from the women in her life, Ryann avoided men on a romantic level.

One-day fate stepped into Trevor and Ryann’s life. Trevor and his friend, Max, went to the bar where Ryann was a bartender. Nothing amazing happened. Ryann and her best friend Sadie, both noticed Trevor and Max, but that was as far as things went for Ryann. As the story progressed, Ryann and Trevor continued to run into each other. For the sake of Max and Sadie, who had started to see each other, Ryann and Trevor agreed to be friends. Considering the two both considered themselves broken and never wanted to love again it should have been the perfect arrangement, unfortunately, Ryann started to develop feelings for Trevor. Trevor, on the other hand, tried to deny his feelings for Ryann and on many occasions was a complete and utter jerk to her.

Brokenhearted includes tragedy, humor, revelations, forgiveness, and acceptance. From the outset, I absolutely loved Ryann’s strength, her determination to live life on her terms, and her devotion to those that meant something to her. I applauded her when she made a stand against Trevor for being the selfish and cruel person he was at times. I was impressed with how she handled a shocking revelation from her mother. She is a woman who got knocked down in more ways than one but pulled herself up and made her life a happy one.

Trevor, he left me conflicted. I appreciated how he dove into his education and his subsequent career as a doctor. I appreciated how he had his tight bond with his friend Max. He also appeared to be a caring doctor. On the other hand, I wasn’t a fan of his stubborn attitude. I also didn’t care for his violent outbursts or how he basically kept leading Ryann on. In some respects I feel like Ryann’s love and friendship, and Trevor’s own personal tragedy upon returning to his hometown, started to change the negatives aspects to his personality that were a direct result of losing Leah. Part of me would have liked to see him make amends to those he had hurt because of his own pain. At least more than the limited gestures, he showed.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Ryann is hands down my favorite character in the story.

Brokenhearted by Brooklyn Taylor was a story filled with regret. Regret for mistakes of the past and how they shaped the future that both Trevor and Ryann set out for themselves. With an attraction that they both tried to fight for different reasons, Trevor and Ryann were drawn to each other over and over again until they couldn't fight anymore.

Trevor returns to his hometown as an accomplished doctor and nothing like the man that left so many years before. Trevor knew it would be hard to return, especially after losing the love of his life, but with a job opening up at the hospital and his father being ill and his mother needing his help, the only thing he could do was come home, despite the demons he faced there.

Ryann lives a simple life only wanting to do what made her happy. Helping her Aunt Jackie at the James Farm and working as a bartender was how Ryann lived her life. She didn't want to fall into the trap of a guy taking over her life as it had happened before. Although her life plan had changed somewhat, she was content. Ryann grew up with a single mother who worked hard to support her and never knowing her father, so the simple things in life are what made her happy and satisfied. That is until Dr. Trevor James walked into the bar.

With her best friend by her side, Ryann navigates the push and pull that Trevor puts her through on a daily basis; hoping that the heartache that may ensue as a result will be worth it. She tries to force Trevor to face his demons. The more that Trevor tries to forget the past, the more he is faced with the events that took place all those years ago. When he finally talks to his father about what really happen, Trevor feels like a weight is lifted and he can move forward with his life; if Ryann will still have him.

What will come of these two broken people? Can they heal each other or is their past too broken to move past? Healing comes from within, and they both need to forgive themselves to heal, but can they? You need to read to find out!

Broken Hearted by Brooklyn Taylor was a fast paced story that took you on a journey of redemption.

The book's main characters, Ryann and Trevor both consider themselves broken from the misfortune of their pasts. Ryann is perfectly content with her life, but Trevor is letting the hurt consume him. When these two meet, there's an instant connection but nothing happens. They both move on and eventually find themselves constantly being thrown together either by their two best friends or their work.

There's a lot of angst. A lot of back and forth that'll leave you with whiplash. You never know what side of Trevor you're going to get as you battle his emotions with him. He doesn't believe he's capable of giving or receiving love but he can't fight off the pull he has towards Ryann.

When tragedy strikes, it forces him to reevaluate his life choices and think about the future. Eventually, the two of them come to an understanding that they can both agree on.

The feelings expressed in Broken Hearted are very real, very common, and very well portrayed by Taylor. She does a great job making the situations extremely realistic while offering a few twists and turns to the mix that you never saw coming.

The main setting was on a ranch for rehabilitated horses and I found that to be really endearing and a nice play alongside what was happening to the characters. I myself am a huge animal lover and know that horses are very therapeutic, so it was fun to see the humans being rehabilitated in the presence of these majestic animals as well.

Overall, it was a sweet story of two broken souls journey to happiness and acceptance.

I give Broken Hearted 4 angst filled stars!

***I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review***

I just want to say that I have liked the couple other things I have read so far from Brooklyn, but I have to say I did not care for this book as much.

The premise of two damaged people finding healing with one another is excellent, but not as accurately displayed as I would have hoped for. The family relationships between the characters (Ryann, her mom; Trevor, his parents) are excellent, even when they are not exactly happy with one another.

My main issue is that I had trouble even liking Trevor. Ryann was a lovely girl, and she had made such a good change in her life and she was happy with it. I know that everyone deals with things differently, and the way Trevor acted was acceptable for what he had been through, but the way he acted just made me think that he was a big baby and didn't want to get over everything, even with all the time that had passed. He whined and complained and it was always so back and forth and it was just something I found I didn't care for. I was also sad about Sadie's relationship ending.

I had an issue with the word "smirk" being used as many times as it was. Sometimes there are little things that interrupt the book and for me that was one of them.

All in all I gave it a 3 star review because the family relationships between all the characters and the fun twist at the end made for a fun story, but the relationship between the two main characters was not exactly to my taste.

Baggage. We all have baggage. This book was a very good read that addresses that we all have baggage but forgiveness can always happen when you are loved.

I really enjoyed this book. This book was extremely emotional. I mean it when I say it made me feel all the feels. I felt mad, happy, sad, and then it tore my heart out completely and shattered it. By the end though, it had also put all of the pieces back together.

Dr. Trevor James, was such a good character! He was dark, moody, but tall and handsome. Also, did I mention…. He is a doctor?!?! Yes, I completely blame Grey’s Anatomy for all of my completely unrealistic visions of all doctors. (McDreamy and McSteamy… need I say more)

Ryann, has become one of my favorite female characters in 2016. She was sparky, stubborn, confident, and so strong. As I continued to read, I was more and more completely on her side and had her back. There were even a few times where I wanted to jump in the pages and slap other characters for her.

This is a must read for all fans of new adult romance that involves lots of baggage, emotion, forgiveness, family, friendships, and love.

Few of My Favorite Quotes

“On second thought, I do have a heart, a little one though, because I love my fucking bike. And my mom—I mean, come on, she’s my mother.”

“Sometimes, we do things out of love, and we know they are wrong when we do them. We know they are going to hurt someone, but we have to…”

“So… I guess it’s true although I didn’t believe it; two broken hearts can make one whole.”

Discovering new author is always fun and my introduction to Brooklyn Taylor was an awesome trip . I met some interesting characters , some have left their mark forever in my heart

Trevor James is HOT !!!! Did I mention he's a HOT doctor ?! He's also a man with a broken heart that's laced with regret , resentment and bitterness but that just adds to hiss broody charm, he's a real workaholic , it keeps his mind busy and his thoughts at bay but that will all change soon enough .....he heads home his family needs him and so does Ryann, they just don't know it at this point in time .....

Ryann , what a babe . She's is a simple girl with no airs and graces , she's down to earth and content with life . She was dealt a crappy hand but makes the best of it. Trevor will melt both her heart and panties but he's got his work cut out for him and some of that is his own fault . Man there were times I just wanted to smack him on the side of his head , the mixed signals he kept sending gave me whip lash ! Like most men he finally wakes up and smells the roses, lucky for him it wasn't to late

There were some heart breaking moments for me as well , keep the kleenex on hand .....

I must just say that Ryann's mom will forever have a place in my heart that woman loves her daughter with such devotion and commitment . She is the reason my 4 star went to a 5 star . Thank you for this beautiful soul.

Brokenhearted is about the obvious but it's also about the truth , redemption, forgiveness , finding peace , healing and love .

This book is about two people who had thought they had met the love of their lives but were totally crushed by them due to their infidelity. Both Ryann and Trevor after being hurt badly chose to close themselves due to the devastation their hearts went through. Ryann decided to take a more positive approach to feel more confident and positive about who she was and was trying to live her life the best way for her without needing a man. She was raised by a strong single mother.

Trevor chose to follow his career endeavors and remain with a closed off heart that he could only love his parents with. He felt that he was incapable of love and did not pursue any women keeping his focus on his career and staying fit.

Ryann and Trevor met each other in a bar that she was working in. They seemed to come in contact with each other often and they both could feel some sort of pull but they choose to deny it. Trevor found himself drawn to her because she seemed to bring light which made him feel lighter. The days he saw her would make him feel that they were good days.

I recommend you read Broken Hearted to see if Ryann and Trevor can mend their broken hearts and move on to find love again. The characters are easy to relate to because many of us have been left broken hearted. Are they able to mend each other's hearts or do they find other love interests to help heal them? Do they end up together, alone or with someone else? Read this book to find out.

**3.5 Star Review**

BrokenHearted as a story of love & being brave enough to let go of the past..

Trevor James left Austin full of rage & hate. Unable to cope with his feelings of loss & the anger he focused towards his father, he left his home & everything he knew behind spending the best part of the next decade staying away. He swore he couldn't love again. His cold heart shut off from the world, he truly believed he was broken, refusing to allow himself to feel again. Needing to move home due to his dads ill health. He wasn't prepared for Ryann. He wasn't ready to let go of his past to allow a future he wasn't sure he deserved.

Ryann is loving, caring thoughtful & beautiful - inside & out. Recovering from a bad ex, she is finally content with her life. Having control back of her happiness & her future, she is loving her work in the bar & has no plans to complicate it. She's had her heart broken before & had no plans to put her emotions on the line again - until she met Trevor James. Mr Intense who managed to take up residence in her heart & made her question her happiness & her refusal to love again.

The dual pov helped you see what led them to close their hearts off to love, though for me I struggled to engage with them at times. I did think the pace was a bit rushed in places & some parts I would have liked to see more depth & passion from the story to really pull you in.

Ryann and Trevor both have pasts that have led to them putting strong walls up around their hearts and not let anyone in. Ryann’s past relationship not only killed her spirit, but her future dreams as well. However, she is now a bartender who is happy with her day-to-day life, even if that means keeping her heart locked up. Trevor is now a doctor, but has returned home with no plans for a future relationship. They are thrown together when their best friends take a liking to each other. Even though their friends are pushing them towards a relationship, they both decide that friendship is as far as their relationship can go…but what happens when friendship turns to flirting and even more? Can they move beyond their pasts and let someone in, or will they stay rooted in the past and lock each other out of their hearts?

Ryann and Trevor were so easy to fall in love with. I wished there was more book so I could read even more about them. Brooklyn Taylor has written such a beautiful story about heartbreak, healing, love, friendship, family, and hope. We all have a past that has defined us and shaped us into the people we are in the present. However, it is how we use our past to dictate our future that determines our happiness. We can let it break us or we can let it build us up. Brooklyn Taylor has captured this in Broken Hearted. Beautiful story.

Brokenhearted is a touching and poignant journey of love, loss, regrets and redemption. Trevor and Ryann are both broken and flawed with thick walls to protect their hearts. They are both stuck in the past but manifest it differently. Trevor is angry, and bitter and has only his career to live for. Ryann is upbeat, and positive but hides her pain behind her smile. They are not looking to put themselves out there when they first meet. But as their paths continue to cross, they are helpless not to act on their growing friendship and attraction. Especially as their family and friends conspire to bring them together. I liked both Trevor and Ryann, although Trevor could be a real a$$ and I wanted to slap him several times. I may not agree with how he acted, but I could empathize with his struggles. Ryann is kind, funny, strong, and likes to be in control. I liked that she was not going to put up with being treated poorly by Trevor. I loved that they both have a strong support system with their family and best friends. This added warmth and depth helping to make this story honest and believable. I was a bit confused towards the end when it felt a bit choppy and inconsistent with the rest of the story. But the epilogue was beautiful and was totally satisfying. I really enjoyed this book and love all the emotions that Ms. Taylor so expertly makes me feel.

Dr. Trevor James returns home after a decade of being gone. He's angry, cold, and kind of a jerk. After what he thought was an event that broke him kept him away from home, he comes back to find his father is dying adding guilt to his anger and pain.
Ryann Payne has had her own share of heart break. After falling madly in love with Jake at college, they plan to start their life together only for him to find him cheating. Once confronted, he hurts her more by throwing his beating in her face and stripping her self-worth. When Trevor walks into the bar where Ryann works, the pull is undeniable, but both are too broken to even consider a relationship.
I'm not going to lie, I wanted to beat some flipping sense into these characters through 90% of the book. Trevor and Ryann are equally stubborn, and equally in denial. Thank goodness for meddling family members and quirky best friends. I loved the southern charm in this story as well. Sweet tea and horses are essential in the south and the author embraced everything that is southern with perfection. The only problem I had was that both the main characters (but especially Trevor) seemed really immature for their age where relationships were concerned. Overall a great read with moving characters!

This book holds the story of Trevor and Ryann, two people who have been deeply hurt but approach their lives in completely different ways. While Trevor has fulfilled his career dreams and has closed himself completely to any relationship, Ryann has chosen to live happily despite sacrificing her dreams and is reluctant, but not totally opposed, to opening to love again. Add to that Trevor’s motives to return home, the history with his parents and friends and family on both sides pushing them together to make for a beautiful and truly heartfelt story.
This is my first read from Ms. Taylor and I liked it. It’s nicely written, fast paced and more than anything heartfelt, the best word to describe this book if you ask me. I somehow couldn’t love it as I expected in the beginning, but it was still a good read full of feeling and I’d recommend nonetheless.

Ms. Taylor has a way of wrapping you in her stories and holding you hostage until you finish, making you feel as though you need stay lost in the worlds she creates. Sadly real life intervenes and so we have to take our time reading. Ryann and Trevor's story was one I wanted to immerse myself in, and when I had the time that's exactly what I did. After both being broken by love in the past they swore they were never putting themselves in the position to be hurt again. They'd rather live life alone than face heartache of that nature again. After hearing all they had been through I certainly didn't blame them for how they felt! As we all know though fate often has other plans for us and when we meet our soulmate nothing can keep you apart, not even yourself. Brokenhearted is a beautiful story of learning to open your heart again, of friendship and of healing. Highly recommend!

Brooklyn Taylor sure knows how to write a story of love and sorrow only to mend the broken heart.

Ryann and Trevor were both broken according to them. Ryann had grown up with only her mom around, quit college, and wound up with a crappy, cheating ex boyfriend. Ryann had decided that all she needed was her friends and family. She loved her job at the bar and helping out with the horses at the James Ranch.

Trevor James was a doctor at the local hospital. He came back to town because of this job opening up and he could be closer to his mom. Trevor and his family had a falling out because of someone that Trevor loved but didn't love him back. Mr. James was trying to protect his son when all it did was drive him out of town.

A lot of things are revealed in both Ryann's and Trevor's lives. It is what brings them together in the end.

Brooklyn Taylor is a new author for me. If this is the level of work I can expect from her books, I will continue to read her work.

This story followed Trevor and Ryann. The story was amazing. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Ryann's character. She was a lady who was systematically destroyed by an ex but refused to let him win.

Trevor however, there were many times I wanted to tell him to grow some balls, suck it up and stop whining. I understand he was hurt by a past relationship, but really.

I loved the dynamics the secondary characters brought to the book. Trevor's parents and Ryann's mum were absolutely adorable.

I cannot wait to see if there is another book and see where the relationships of Ryann and Trevor but also Maxwell and Sadie.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO PEOPLE WHO LOVE ROMANCE, DRAMA AND A STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER!

4 Stars!

Brooklyn Taylor is a new author for me and one I will keep my eye on in the future. I love light, sweet, and sappy books but sometimes I need a book to just make me feel. I need a book to make me bleed through emotions and feelings. She did this for me with this book. Brokenhearted will speak to your heart, soul, and deep into your bones.

Brokenhearted takes readers on a journey full of regret, sorrow, sadness, healing, redemption, lust, and love. This book took me on a journey with two people who are broken but find that sometimes they find that one person who can help piece them back together. In this book you will meet two people who find the power of love.

I recommend this book.

Enjoyable read about two people learning that love is possible again, despite being burned in the past. I really loved Ryanne in this book. I felt her pain and loved how she worked to build herself back up from the damage caused by her ex. Although she still had some work to do you could see she was open to perhaps taking a chance again on love. After everything came out about what happened with Trevor and his first love, although I understood what he and why he did it, I had issues with how long he help on to his grief and anger, especially toward his family. It was nice to see him finally realize his love and his capability to love. I really loved Sadie and Maxwell as supporting characters. They spoke the truth and worked hard to help their friends "see the light".

A sexy, sweet romance between two jaded people who discover love doesn't always follow the rules.

Ryann and Trevor are jaded. They both suffered heartbreak and have sworn off love. Until they meet each other one night in the bar where Ryann works. They don't quite mesh at first. Trevor is kind of a jerk and Ryann won't stand for his jerky behavior. Their respective best friends start dating and give them a little push. Trevor and Ryann have to work through their individual issues, but once they do, sparks fly and romance blossoms.

Trevor and Ryann both broken hearted by there past. Trevor won't open his heart he's to stubborn and angry. Ryann got cheated on and yes is heart broken but willing to give someone a chance. Trevor and Ryann become friends but know they have chemistry. Will Ryann convince Trevor it's okay to open his heart up again? Will Trevor finally let go of all the anger from his past? I loved this story it shows how even though you have been hurt in the past, you can always find that special someone who you will die for and love like your soulmate. Time, family and love can heal your soul.
