Dying sucks for everyone, but for Selene there are added complications. Becoming one of the Awakened, a group of godlike beings, should have been the end of Selene's worries. Instead, dangerous people who want the secrets she hid away in a past incarnation are hunting her, and every time Selene uses her abilities she pays a price-losing memories that are impossible to get back. Jace, Selene's hunky ex, has promised to protect her, but when Selene is kidnapped by Jace's brother Kyle-who she was married to before Jace came into the picture-things get strained. Without Kyle's help, Selene can't save the people she cares about, but trusting Kyle could have unfortunate consequences.

I received this ARC from the author in return for a fair and honest review.

So what happens when you start reading a book and find out that not only does it involve insta-love but also love triangles - both of which you hate?! You carry on reading, that's what! Because by the time you realised, you were already hooked into the story and there wasn't a snowball's chance in hell of putting it down until it was finished. That's what happens when you read a book by Dean Murray.

Immortal is the second book in The Awakening Series and continues exactly where Reborn finished. You find out that Kyle and Selene were actually together WAY before Jace and Selene were. So how does Kyle fit into the scenario? I was fully prepared to dislike Kyle, after all, Jace and Selene were the ones that needed to be together, right? The trouble is I couldn't actually dislike him. You will have to read the book yourself to understand why but trust me, he's not a straightforward "villain".

There are quiet times where Selene (and you) find pieces out of the puzzle and there are also times of action, fighting and battles. Then there are the emotional times that you become invested in.

This story continues to be intriguing and complex with plot twists and turns that keep you on your toes. It was completely un-put-down-able and I loved every moment. Even though this book deals with tropes that I usually find irritating, the way Immortal has been written makes it a pleasure to read. Highly recommended to all fans of Young Adult, Contemporary Paranormal.

(I received this ARC from the author in return for a fair and honest review.)

The cliffhanger at the end of book one totally got me.

Overall the book is really nice, although I didn't like a few parts cause the tempo was kinda slow, but this is definitely the sequel I was hoping to see. Great job.

Overall: 4.8/5 (a bit too slow sometimes, and I also I think book one was SLIGHTLY better. SLIGHTLY.)
Creativity: 4/5
Plot: 5/5
Characters: 5/5
Engrossing: 5/5
Writing: 5/5 (Perfect as always)

Immortal picks up right at the HUGE cliff hanger that closed Reborn. There are many plot twists that I did not see coming and the love triangle between Selene, Jace and Kyle is finally explored. I went into this thinking I knew exactly which characters I was routing for in the romance and finished this unsure who I want to win Selene's heart. As is typical in all of Dean Murray's books, the complex and intriguing twists and turns of the characters stories kept me on the edge and I couldn't put the book down! Dean hit another one out if the park with the Awakened Series!!!!

Merged review:

I am loving the Awakened Series!!! Dean has taken YA Paranomal Genre and put a great new twist on it. In the second book you learn more of Selene's prior lives and her relationship with her first Husband Kyle. He is the guy you love to hate, but want to love!!! As the story digs deeper into this love triangle and her friendship with Kat you can't help but be drawn in. There is a lot of technical detail on their "powers" work and for non-detail oriented people, like myself, that was a bit tedious...however, did not sway from my enjoyment of the book!!!

Dean Murray is by far my Favorite YA author and I cannot wait for Book #!!!!!

I received this book also as a ARC and finished it within a day and half of starting stopping another book to do so after enjoying the last book in this series so much. I am a huge fan of Dean's book and once again he has not disappointed me. He not only makes you care about the people he writes about but makes you feel like you know them. I can not wait to see how their story develops and ends. I really enjoy getting the back story behind the characters he writes about and what makes them who they are when writing and feel that this book really did that for me. While not focusing so much on the past to develop the individuals he writes about to keep this story from moving forward. I can't wait for the final book and him to continue on with some of the other books he also writing.

Dean has yet again done an amazing job of keeping my interest in a story and what goes on between all of the characters. He picks up right where book 1 ends and it just keeps getting better and more interesting with each page.

I really like how you learn bits and pieces about each of the characters from different times in their many lives. It really helps to see all of the things that made them who they are at this point in time.

Dean added a few things that I wasn’t expecting, but I really loved all of it.

Yet another great book to enjoy and that I will be suggesting to all of my friends.

I received a copy of this book for free for an honest review.

Truly a wonderful mix of creative talents with such a vast imagination. Well written masterpiece with inspiring characters that play off each other. You're pulled into the tale as if your apart of it. The story is an action packed adventure with graphic detail, that leaves you wondering who you should trust. An amazing job that shows just how much effort and strength Dean Murray put in to it. I know I'll be back for more.

This is book 2 of a trilogy and I won't be reading the next one.

I was granted a free book...that turned out to be an obvious Book 1. I bought the second book and read that. There is nothing spectacular about these books. They are pretty straightforward urban fantasy with a strong case of true love.

It's not that they weren't written well. The author definitely has some skills. He also created a very different twist. Unfortunately, I wasn't smart enough to follow the details of the twist. And the second book threw in another paramour to complicate matters. I find that the good parts just weren't enough to intrigue me to stay for the final installment.

Books cannot be easy to write. And I feel bad to give this negative review when I've never tried to create a story such as this. My apologies to the author.

Immortals is book 2 of the Awakened series by Dean Murray. I thought Reborn was intriguing and captivating, but Immortal definitely did not disappoint. There were twists I really didn't see coming and many surprises which made me feel like I was involved in the story line.

Usually when I read a book I try to picture it as a movie, not this one. A movie could never do the characters and scenes justice.

The written story was so powerful for me I couldn't put it down.

Thank you for sharing your amazing talent Dean Murray.

Awesome and well written. There is a lot of action but also some stunning revelations about Selene's past. Dean does an amazing job of getting the reader to relate to his characters. It is a must read! Team Jace!

Merged review:

Dean Murray did it again. I am stunned by the twists and turns throughout this latest book in the series. The characters are well developed and it feels like you get to know them with depth. The plot is intense and intricate but in a good way. It will leave you wanting more. Can't wait for Endless. And I am on team Jace!
