After witnessing the murder of his parents Wolf goes out and avenges their death the very next day. Wolf's father always told him if anything happened he would be the man of the house. Unfortunately, the tragedy forced him to be that and to make sure his siblings were always safe. Journey was finishing her Masters degree and excited to start her endeavor into the world. However, she meets Colby who she swore would never be the kind of man for her. He was too thuggish and rough around the edges. That is until they end up at the same party with a mutual friend. Sparks fly but Journey won't give him the time of day because of his girlfriend. Unbeknownst to her Colby has his own agenda and will stop at nothing to get her. At the age of fifteen Jax gets hit with a five year bid that keeps him away from his sister that he and Wolf go to great lengths to protect. He doesn't allow her to visit so when he is released the homecoming is bittersweet. He does find love behind those bars and will do anything to make her believe he wasn't just giving her jail talk. Wolf could care less about love. All he wanted to do was protect his family and make money. However, his past will catch up to him, which puts everyone he loves in danger. Will he find the person causing all this hurt in their lives or will it be too late?
Ain't No Savage Like The One I Got by Tina J 4h 23m narrated by Oliver San Juan and Nola Vance, 192 pages
Genre: Urban Fiction
Featuring: Street Life, Family, Violence, Sex - Detailed, Cliffhanger
Rating as a movie: X
Songs for the soundtrack: "Can't Let Go" by Mariah Carey
My rating: ⭐️⭐️½
My thoughts: The storyline was barely okay. The vocabulary was off, the scenes were unrealistic and repetitive, and there were major plotholes. This is going to be a one-and-done for me.
Recommend to others?: Nope. This wasn't even popcorn, it was something quicker.
1. Too many sex scenes. It seemed like every chapter began or ended with a sex scene and prolonged the progress of the book. It seems like everyone pregnant and I bet Passion is going to be pregnant next. I could careless about who swallowed and who didn't. 2. For men that were supposed to be "savages" they were soft. A true savage wouldn't allow Willow to blackmail them. He would've killed her sooner. And then Jax was so soft and emotional treating Journey like she was 12 years old. And Wolfe was just as soft. 3. I wished the book focused on a single set of mail characters and let the other people play the background versus having all these relationships and storylines going on at once. 4. I will read the next book (maybe), but just to see if it gets better.
Siblings Journey, Haven (Wolf) and Jax are a very close family. They experienced trauma at a young age regarding what happened to their parents.
Journey is the oldest, but her brothers are so much more mature than her. She’s somewhat shy and immature for her age. Her brothers are very protective of her, which frustrates her. Their grandma is a hoot.
Here comes Colby on a mission, but don’t know the reason for the mission. All hell will break loose with the blackmail he received to continue the unthinkable. Willow is with everybody, but playing innocent.
Jax and Venus relationship is somewhat unorthodox. Venus is Colby’s sister and the black sheep of the family. Their dad is a POS ugh 😑.
Looking forward to reading about Passion and her story. She did not have a POV in book one.
Now looking forward to see what will happen when worlds collide and let’s see where loyalty will be placed. Also none of the main characters practice safe sex. This a theme with this author.
These characters lives are intertwined in a way none of them saw coming. At 12 year's old. Haven had no problem getting revenge on those killed his parents. Year's later he had no clue that the past would come back and haunt him. Venus, Colby, and Wesley dad are using them as pawns with his scandalous ass. Journey had no clue that falling in love with Colby would be tied to her past. The same with Jax and Venus. Everything is a mess. With the truth out. I'm wondering how everyone will move forward. If they're able to. Istg Wolf, Max, and Journey grandmother is a damn mess. She had me laughing throughout this whole book.
This was really good read and I’m anxious to see how the rest of it unfolds!!!…Grandma was a WHOLE thug out here in these streets!!!… Journey is caught up in some mess that had nothing to do with her!!!…Crazy how Colby’s father will not own his part in the demise of his son Dice!!!…The fact that he let out of his mouth that he was going to compensate Haven and his siblings for the loss of their parents!!!… I now that the families are mix-up with each other, what will happen next!!!…
When your parents' past comes back to haunt you!! Colby's dad is a str8 hiihhh!! Yea the drug game is nothin to play wit, but u get it how u live...jus so happened Dice got his payback. Now his funky pops is tryna play judge and jury. The Banks clan is so tight but and I love their love. The mixture of these two families may cause bloodshed, I just hope it's the right ones. 🧡🧡🧡
This shit dumb. I stopped when one of the brothers pulled out a gun and shot a girl at a welcome home party bc the girl said "fuck you" to him. It was so random and everybody just kept going as nothing happened. Plus, dude in jail and still fucking chicks that come to see him. No foundation to establish that these guys were dem dudes. Didn't feel like suspending reality enough to cont reading.
I literally needed a few minutes before i could write this review...My heart stopped and my stomach dropped...I wish i could see inside the mind of Tina j even if only for one day...What she does with a pen and paper is INCREDIBLE....I don't even know how i feel right now...all i can say is this is A MUST READ 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐and u will not be disappointed
I love me some of them Banks, how cool was that to find out that Venus was dating Jax and Journey was in class with Colby. Journey and Colby make such a cute couple. Venus don’t play about Jax. I like Passion for Wolf she turning him into another man. Freedom was different couldn’t leave the Banks family alone i hope he gets what’s coming to him can’t wait for part 2
Loved it! Thirsty for Part 2! Colby, Venus, & Wesley dad is a snake and I hope they see him for who he is! I believe he’s the one the put Dice in the situation to get killed! He’s definitely a bitch for sending his kids off! I hope he gets everything he deserves! I real man would’ve came at Wolf directly
I've read this series but I love these guys so I'm always reading any of their stories. Savage against savage boy what to do once Journey Finds our the love of her life was sent to kill her..... family rivalry is a crazy thing especially when other factors come into play.
Journey might be quiet and a lady but mess with her when it comes to her family. Colby’s daddy is an ignorant fool, he treats his own Daughter Venus like crap while he should be protecting her. He holding on to a grudge when his son Dice was wrong!
It was a very good story! Although I didn't understand why Wolf had to kill Passions baby daddy. And who walks around with cyanide pills in there pockets? ( I'm assuming it was cyanide) That was a little out there. And Colby didn't have to kill Journeys ex either! It didn't make sense. But, overall a good book!
There are a whole bunch of savages in this story, and they're all bad to the bone! Wolf and Jax Banks are true beasts, but Colby ain't short stopping! With a complex plot of revenge cooking, many of the players don't know the rules of the game! Hopefully, part two will bring some clarity!
If I can give a half of star, I would.... This is definitely not her (author) best work. The story was rushed, I couldn’t connect with the characters, the timeline didn’t make sense. I’m scared to read part 2 because part 1 gave me a headache.
Omg i think Wolfe is my new book bae ... This book took me a few hours to read lol i definitely was turning those pages quick. Very thrilling and it keeps u wanting more ... great job ... now going ro part 2 😊
This families are so intertwined and got so much going on that it's just wow. I don't blame Wolf for killing Dice because he was just scandalous especially trying to find the kids to kill them to. Years later the siblings get t
Omg omg i cant even focus right now to leave a good review 🤣🤣 can’t wait to read part 2....first time reading from this author but i can bet bottom dollar it won’t be my last ....very good read off to part 2 i go💃🏽💃🏽
Enjoyed the storyline and the character buildup. The drama and suspense was definitely real. Freedom really bout to have a serious problem on his hands. Can’t wait to see how these couples deal with the truth coming out.
This is toooo muchhhh.. I don’t even know where to begin all I know it I on to the next cuz book 1 was good AF.. I guess the world isn’t as small as we think since everyone was in the streets but didn’t know each other like that..
Colby’s dad is so grimy. He’s a straight coward for using Colby to do his dirty work. Everything is starting to come full circle. I hope the couples stay h the together and don’t let lying people tear them apart. On to part 2.
This book is wild!!! You got gangstas and girlfriends and all kinds of stuff going on. The comic relief in this book is the grandma…because of the way it ended I now gotta download and start on book 2. I gotta figure out what is happening.
I can’t wait to start part 2. I can’t believe how this story is playing out. Everyone is left in the dark and not realizing who is who until the end. Tina J you always keeping us on our toes with any story you write. Love it
