The Shy Traffickers

Rate this book
With drug kingpin Dai Dymond safely incarcerated in one of H.M’s top-security penitentiaries, a promising market niche emerges in the lucrative narcotics business, invariably leading to straightforward thuggery, copious gratuitous violence and internecine gang warfare in South Wales.

Nothing that in normal circumstances would attract the attention of Olivia Bohun, journalist extraordinaire at the Daily Snipe, which specialises in the more scurrilous celebrity scandals. However, when Shy Trafficker Ronald Primrose is murdered in his office and Maths Professor and amateur sleuth John Dobie becomes unwittingly involved, Ms Bohun decides that this could be a career-defining story and decides to put her Essex intellect and more visible physical attributes to good use on her on-off and highly corruptible drug squad boyfriend, Peter Crumb.

As her investigation into the world of drugs and prostitution advances, the enigma of who murdered Rodney Primrose remains. Dim Smith, Pontin and Jackson, the Holy Trinity of Scotland Yard’s finest, believe they have the murder weapon... but do they really?

This is the fourth, hitherto unpublished novel in the Professor Dobie series. It’s written with the typical intelligence, elegance, humour and wit of Desmond Cory; each character is a perfect tessera, and all combine to produce an intricate and luminous literary mosaic.

Author - Critical Acclaim:

The Shy Traffickers by Desmond Cory is a well-crafted story that beautifully combines crime and fiction to deliver a paunch readers will take more than normal time to recover from. There is a compelling story with memorable characters who thrive in a well-thought-out plot.

One downside is the author used a bizarre number of obscure adjectives from the very first sentence to the end of the book. Once you get past this, the book is a delightful read demonstrating clever twists and plot switches.

After all, it is Desmond Cory who delivers yet another smartly written story!

Professor Dobie Strikes Again with Laughter! (but no punctuation!)

If you're looking for a book that will keep you giggling from start to finish, "The Shy Traffickers" is an absolute gem. This fourth installment in the Professor Dobie series delivers yet another dose of lighthearted hilarity that fans have come to adore.

Professor Dobie, with his endearing quirkiness and insatiable curiosity, finds himself embroiled in an unlikely plot involving shy traffickers. The author's knack for humorous storytelling shines through as Dobie stumbles upon one comical situation after another. From mistaken identities to hilarious misunderstandings, this book had me in stitches.

The supporting cast is equally delightful, with memorable characters who bring their own brand of humor to the story. The pacing is snappy, and the clever twists and turns keep you guessing until the very end.

"The Shy Traffickers" is a delightful read that will leave you with a smile on your face. Don't miss out on this side-splitting adventure! Once you get past the fact that the whole book is missing basic punctuation, you can really enjoy the story.

Dear Future Reader,

The storyline of this book is intriguing. I appreciate the author's writing abilities. However, I will point out that it has many annotations and accents and was written in British English using local slang. It was not a difficult adaption for me. It is worth it for a good story. The mysterious story of "The Shy Traffickers" is one I would add to my read list if I hadn't already. The other books in the series are (if you can believe it) just as good!
