Machida Yuki was not that much likeable in the first five volumes if I'm being honest. I find her awkwardness a bit off, maybe because I'm used to liking female MCs who knows how to handle certain situations and are not afraid to say what's exactly on their mind. But yeah, at least there's a character development that happened in this volume.
A star got knocked down because of Naruse’s pressuring. Felt sort of Jess/Rory at the house party (IYKYK) and I didn’t enjoy it, however the story is getting interesting as the characters try and evolve
Okay, just as I was about to start on the next chapter, I just realized that there's a huge "9" in the middle with the chapter numbers. HAHAHA. I didn't even know that I had finished off the eighth volume.
Have some thoughts.
Volume 8 -- Ch. 41-47
Ch. 41 SOOO. This really felt like it's the last chapter of the series. iono. then that would be weird because this volume, or whatever, would've only had two chapters. I mean. Machida retired from being the manager, I think. Then the team asks Naruse to become the team captain, of course. Shouji gets himself a fangirl. HAHA. I think that's his name. They give Machida a jersey and it's super adorable. Then Naruse does this really cute thing where he's taking Machida for the past two years. oomggg. so cute. Ugh. What is there to read next in this series? Ch. 42 it's been a while. I have no idea what chapters goes in what volume. HAHA. I don't know how I found out earlier. Oh, well. Manager has been retired from the club for a while now and guy is now the team captain. omgg. I totally forgot all of their names. HAHA. Uhhh. They don't really see each other that much anymore and it doesn't feel like theyre going out. I just don't see this relationship happening seriously. HAHA. Machida is determined to walk home with Naruse but ends up getting stopped by Hakamada and he asks her to come watch them at the Winter Cup tournament, also saying that he'll make her regret choosing Naruse over him. omggg. Ch. 44 -- AHHHH. They get to go on a date. The cover page was teasing with the "First XXX". WHAT ELSE THREE LETTER WORD GOES THERE? They were so close and the thought was definitely on both of their minds but, Yuki, you know. HAHA. So cute.
Ch. 46 -- HAHA. Shou showed up to tell Shizuka that he was captain when he had been on the fence about it. I like seeing little Shou and Shizuka. This spurred Shizuka to become captain, himself. Now it's a battle between their teams. Leaderrrrr. Ch. 47 -- I always love to see Machida's family and OHHH. DADDYYY. What was with that initial look at her, though? Out of all of her siblings, only one brother got daddy's black hair. HAHA. He basically just looked at Yuki and was all like, "Shouldn't you have moved out by now?" OOOHH. I'm really liking this chapter. We get to finally put some names to some of these siblings. HAHA. Daddy just keels over when he sees Naruse. Wait, I thought that Momma already met him before. She blushed like crazy. Then we get to finally put names to the brothers. Shintarou, Koushiro, and Kenjirou. HAHA.Daddy goes out to cry because his little girl is all grown up. I seriously thought that Daddy thought that Yuki was his wife at first, too, but threw that out of the window because my thinking led to lewd thoughts. HAHA. Awww. Yuki is just like her daddy, huh? Too cute. HAHA. "Would you look at the time? Time for you TO GO HOME." The siblings are too cute. HAHAHA. THAT OMAKE AT THE END. Naruse ends up getting good at bowling and he and Yuki gave each other the same gift.

Cheeky Brat is a thoroughly enjoyable young romance. Yuki is the high school basketball team manager, a very stoic and dedicated individual who is always professional in her job and in her personal life. Stumbling upon her when she's showing an unusual bit of emotion, Haruse, the team's cheeky playboy, is intrigued with Yuki and pursues her romantically. Their romance continues to be about opposites that attract. Her dedication to avoiding romance is infuriating, but it doesn't make it any less enjoyable to read. I see many comparisons to Maid Sama, but My Little Monster also comes to mind. I enjoyed the story, and especially the likeably awkward third point on the love triangle. Additionally, the illustrations, especially those of the basketball players, are excellent.
AMO TUTTO!

Now that Yuki has retired from the basketball team, she's entering exam period--which means studying is her first priority. And with the new title of captain, Naruse has his hands full with the team. But at the same time, it means that the time they have as fellow students is shrinking with each day. What's next for this new couple?
This set of chapters was pretty cute, and focused mostly on how Yuki and Naruse are going to weather the changes in their personal lives, and what that means for their relationship. This book contains a short bonus scene of the basketball team's Christmas celebration.

This isn’t the worst thing I’ve read but it’s pretty lackluster. I feel like I’m sticking around for Yuki because I can relate to her, being awkward in love and with showing affection. I feel so accomplished with her when she pushes past her comfort zone. I really enjoyed Naruse meeting Yuki’s family. That was the best part of this volume.
Did i drop everything i'm in the middle of reading to read this? Yes. Do I regret that decision. I could never. Literally miss this couple every hour of every day. I don't think ill ever find a couple I love so much.
Chapters 42 - 47: I really enjoyed the New Years Eve chapter in this volume and seeing Naruse meet all of Yuki's family. It was fun seeing all the different reactions and ways the different family members interacted with him. I look forward to reading the next volume.
