The Brimstone Kings MC #1

Ace: The Brimstone Kings MC

Rate this book
Alison
I’ve lived in a small town my entire life. At eighteen, I don’t have a whole lot of life experience, and all I really have time for is my job. I’ve heard of the Brimstone Kings MC, but I’d never seen them until a group of them shows up at the diner where I work. That’s the day I met Ace.
Just his name sends shivers up my spine. That man is sex on a stick. But he’s a man. I’ve only ever been around boys. I don’t know if I’m ready for the kind of life that comes with a man like Ace, but he isn’t giving me much choice.

Ace
Shit, she is fucking beautiful. When I first laid eyes on her, I didn’t think there was a chance in hell she was legal. The minute I found out she was eighteen, it was game on. I will make her mine, if it’s the last thing I do.
Getting her to be mine proves to be harder than I thought though. I need to prove to her that I am the man for her. That I can take care of her. That I won’t hurt her. This woman is stubborn as hell, but I’m determined to make her see what it feels like to be with a real man.

Mmmm What To Say About This Book, Other Than It Has Lots Of Potential But It Fell Very Short For Me.

The Story Was Good But It Jumped Around A Little Too Much. Ace Started Out Like Your Typical Alpha Biker But Became Very Soft And Not Very Appealing At All. Saying That Though The Characters Were All Pretty Good And I Can See Where The Author Could Take This Series.

I Wouldn't Tell Anyone Not To Read This As We All Have Different Opinions And You May Love It Loads. I Give Loads Of Luck To J.J Marstead For This Debut Novel

When Ace sees Alison for the first time, he wants her. However he thinks she is underage, realizing she is eighteen Ace makes his claim. As they grow closer though they have a few struggles with Alison being a bit naive and Ace expecting her to know what he feels.

This was good but jumped a bit around. I think it could have used a bit more polishing but liked the overall story. new to me author, would check out what else they have to offer.

As a debut novel I enjoyed this. It was a little rough around the edges but that is expected sometimes with an ARC (advanced reader copy) as it is not always the final copy. I really loved the love at first sight theme that this had going on. Typically in the MC sub-genre it is lust at first sight or demanding at first sight. There are more than enough secondary characters to continue out the series and they we all wonderfully written.

Ace and Alison both were well written and they go through a lot. The chemistry the pair of them have is simply electric and love them together. The drama with the exes and the family was also great as that tends to happen more often than not. There is a lot that happens in this book and there were a few times where things seemed to be pretty fast for me but that is just a personal thing.

Brimstone Kings MC
3. 5 stars
So I always love a good MC and this one is a good start. There are some tattered edges to fix but all in all I think as we progress through the series we can expect a good read. The book is a little here and there meaning that we move quickly and at times things seem like we needed more to finish out the situation. There was a long time frame included in this book and leaving things I felt unfinished moving on to the next day or month it seemed like life was hurling forward.
Ace is a well written character who has that grit to him but also a heart. The kind we love. It’s the tale of a man who sees the woman who he wants to make his. The woman – Allison has a mind of her own and is sassy but gives him the chase he desires. Being only 18 and uncertain that she wants to dive into the life she “hears” they lead Allison isn’t sure that she can handle what Ace has to offer.
I enjoyed the ARC and hope to get more from JJ. I appreciate the chance to read and look forward to more. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

Really enjoyed this story! JJ Marstead gives us Alison, full of innocence and inexperience, and through a chance meeting attracts the attention of Ace, smooth, sultry, alpha-dog VP of the Brimstone Kings MC. Completely unsure of relationships, they trip over each other with misunderstandings, most often caused by various antagonists throughout the story. I really enjoyed the multiple, overlapping POV's, which clarified moments from each side, which I don't believe I've ever read a book like that. It was pretty neat to read a scene that you already read, but from another person's view, so it wasn't anywhere near re-reading the same thing. A great MC read, fast paced and full of surprises. Even with events that seem to want to topple this couple, you are happily rewarded with a much deserved HEA, even though you never thought it would happen. I look forward to more stories from the various characters introduced in this book.

DNF- Dreadfully book, badly written, no depth to the characters and a disjointed plot. Ace is a typical VP from MCC, but has been sleeping with Porsche a club girl for a long while and only her it seems as she’s expecting to be made his old lady. Then he goes to a diner and meets Alison, she is invited to a party at the club with another biker but Ace decides he wants her, there’s a confrontation of Porsche and Alison, (doesn’t make sense when Alison’s with another biker, but he understands she has feelings for Ace and let’s he go WTF??? Porsche hits Alison and Ace takes Porsche away and seems to side with her Then is found with trousers down and all over Porsche. Alison accepts lame explanation. It gets worse he won’t sleep with Alison saying he wants to be sure she’s ready for it. He then goes AWOL on club business for a couple of weeks she then sleeps with him Once. Next day she’s sick and sister makes her take pregnancy test! That’s when I realised I had wasted far too much time on this book - ,morning sickness after one day - oh and I forgot Porsche brings a biker from rival club into Aces bedroom somehow and sleeps with him to make ACE jealous and they are both allowed to walk out - no he would be shot for being on club grounds and likely Porsche would be too. How bad can one book be?

I loved MC books. Let me tell you I have read every kind of MC books. From raw and gritty to sweet and loving to just down right what the heck did I just read. This one though was on the sweet side. You see two people come together and make it through everything thrown at them.
Ace and Alison have this need to be with each other, no matter how many times you think Alison should just kick him to the curb, she doesn't. They have a one of a kind true love. Alison realizes that the club his apart of him and he is apart of it. But those book isn't your typical MC, and what I mean is that it doesn't really get involved in club business. It doesn't get into the gritty side of the club. It focuses on Ace and Alison's struggle, heartache, love, and happiness.
Hayden "Ace" Hawke is the VP for the Brimstone Kings MC. He has everything he could want, his brothers, his family, and woman. His dad is the president of the MC and ain't afraid to tell him like it is especially if he is messing up. The MC life isn't for the faint of heart and the woman who are the club woman know their place, except for Porsche a woman who has staked her claim on Ace. It's a claim he never wanted especially after he meets Alison a 19 year old waitress that would forever change his life. Ace wants Alison in his life from the start but Porsche has other things in mind.
Alison is a 19 year old waitress that just recently got out of a relationship that ended because he cheated on her. She will never be in a relationship with a cheater again. So she moved in with her sister, a very protective sister. Her ex just so happens to be in a rival biker gang and he refuses to give her up. Alison wants to give Ace a chance but she is leary because of her ex. When they both dive head first into a relationship, their exs will stop at nothing to try to get them back even if that means teaming up together to destroy what they have. Will Alison still give Ace a chance when all the evidence is shoved into her face, or will she walk away because it gets to be to much?

In this book you also see Tammy who is Alison's sister and Viper who is Aces best friend and fellow MC brother. They also have a rocky relationship that you catches glimpses of. I know there is an amazing story between them and I hope they get their own book.

I was really drawn to this book by the blurb. I love an MC Romance, and the premise of this book really drew me in. Whilst the story-line was interesting I struggled to read this book. The lack of contractions made the sentences to be too wordy for me. This story did have a great amount of drama, I liked the club atmosphere and the secondary characters really drew me into the story, particularly Allison's sister Tammy. The connection and chemistry between the characters was well written and with a few tweaks and a bit more editing this book could be really engaging.

I struggled with Ace's character one minute he was all full on alpha and then he was over the top polite. Even his internal monologues I found to be confusing as he was much stronger in his thoughts than his actual actions and interactions. I loved when he was in his full on alpha mode, and would have loved to have seen more of that come through.

The female lead Allison was a bit too insipid for me for a biker's old lady. I put it down to her age, but she was fairly teary and overemotional for me that lead me to be frustrated rather than endeared by her character.

I found the timeline a bit off putting at times. It felt like a lot of the time the chapter was repeated from a different perspective, rather than providing new information to the story-line or a great deal of time was skipped between interactions.

I take my hat off to anyone who has the gumption and puts the time into producing a novel. Congrats to JJ Marstead for creating her debut novel and I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

Ace was a great 4 star read.

Alison is 18 and works at the local diner, one day some of the Brimstone Kings MC members come in. She has never seen anyone from the MC and is a little nervous around them. Than she see’s ACE.
I glance up and see the sexiest man ever. I have seen my fair share of men and let me just say this, he is sex on an effing stick. I want to just rub myself all over him like a cat in heat.

Alison ends up going to a club party with Blaze but can’t get her mind off of Ace. Ace is seeing read when he finds Blaze and Alison at the party together. There is something about Alison that is pulling Ace in and he has to have her. Will Alison give him a chance?

“No one gets to be between those legs but me,” he growls out.

Ace is a debut novel for J.J. Marstead and was great. There is action, jealousy, drama and some hot sex scenes. There were a lot of great secondary characters that added a great element to the story. I loved Alison’s sister, and don’t get me started on Porsche, ugh. I look forward to reading more in this series. Thank you J.J. Marstead for a great debut MC Romance.

*** 3.5 Cranky Stars ***

This book started out rocky for me.

The sentences seemed simple - if that makes sense. I was bothered how wishy-washy Allison was. She was naive and Ace has serious cave man tendencies. They were all over the map with their feelings, so I wasn't sure I'd be able to continue. I'm happy I did because it picked up at certain points.

Allison is a waitress at the local diner and lives with her sister who is a waitress at a strip club. Allison and Ace meet at the diner.

Ace is a Vice President of a MC. He had girls all over, but one he always went back to who honestly couldn't take no for an answer. Their journey was a whirlwind and filled with so much drama. At times, I wanted to jump off the ride. Their steamy times were plenty. Heck the book starts with sex, so be ready.

At times, I was like why hasn't anyone called the cops? Why is she acting that way? Why can't they tell each other their problems?

The book picked up toward the end and had a nice prologue to wrap it all up. If you're willing to work through the rocky first few chapters then pick up this book.

The Brimstone Kings MC – Ace by JJ Marstead
This is the JJ Marstead debut and because of that I hope she will grow from the positive criticism. This book has potential but needs a little bit more work. The edges are rough and the editing needs to be looked at. There was a part in the story where he pleased her the one night (sexually) and then the following day acted surprised that she was bare. I almost felt like that section had been put in the wrong place. The story seemed to jump around and the time frame was confusing. However the story had drama, some chemistry and introduced us to a cast that future stories can come from. I had some issues with the main protagonist Alison; she seemed to cry for everything and always said one last chance but then always gave in with no fight. I think I would have enjoyed her more if she had had more of a backbone and stood up for herself more. Ace started off as a strong biker boy who made no apologies for who he was and then he seemed to go soft and got played by everyone.
Overall for a first time debut it was okay and kept me turning the pages. I think this author has potential to grow and I take my hat off to her for following her dream

A promising debut…

I love the MC sub-genre. It is gritty and harsh but full of family and loyalty as well. I pounced on this debut novel with a blurb that lured me with promises of all things sensual…
Allison and Ace made for an interesting dynamic as a young innocent meets a much more seasoned and experienced older man. Their physical attraction was immediate and obvious as they didn’t waste any time in declaring their intentions, or getting right to it. I liked the characters, even if Tammy, Allison’s sister ended up being my favourite. The storyline did not break new ground but it was intriguing as the secondary characters and the drama (enter an ex-lover and fights that are not always left to the boys) brought with them a spark that kept me interested.

This debut novel had its problems with editing, continuity and character development which did mar the overall read. I have this author on my radar and I’m looking forward to where this series is taken.

I gave this book 4 stars!

I have alot to say for this book...as a debut novel it was worth 4.5 stars! The only problem I have is that at times the time line doesn't fit and at times feels like to much going on at one time to keep.straight. With this being said, please pick up a copy, it has a very believable storyline with the MCs and make you want to be part of the inner circle.

Ace and Alison have chemistry from the start. They have to go through many hurdles to be together. I love how Allison has the support of her sister.

Ace is the VP and hasn't met anyone like Allison. When people of both of their past comes back and tries everyway possible to get them to break up, can these two be true to them selves or will it cause them to see a different light?

I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series.

This story was pretty good for an debut author. I can see the author getting better with each story she writes. I feel like with some tweaking this will be a 5 star books.

So the problem I had was that it just around to much and how the time went within the book.

I felt like some of the characters point of view could have been left out. Like it would have thicken the plot so much more.

Other that I would say it's a pretty solid story and I would tell people to give it a shot. Great job on your first book.

Ok

Don't know what to say about this book. I thought I was reading a MC book, but all. I kept thinking was high school drama. It was so childish. Eben the banter with the men. I gave it a 3 stars because the childish drama kept me reading.

MC = it's there, but not big part of story

Cheating = perceived, several times the H is caught in compromising positions with OW. H was not cheating but one of the times he prioritized the OW over the h and put himself in compromised position...between OW's legs while she was undoing his pants and leaving lipstick kisses all over his neck...Like was she overwhelming him?? He could not have done more to have her back off???? Wimp.

h sees H with OW = h walked in on H in those compromising positions every time....EVERY TIME.

F-preg = birth control? What's that? And h was shocked she got knocked up?

OW drama = OW aggressively went after the H, assaulted the h several times including shooting the h, partnered up with OM who tried to SA/R the h to break up the h and H. Comeuppance? H told her to leave...and he really meant it. (let that sit with you for a while...that's all H did) Fortunately for the h, OW was arrested by cops after shooting so hopefully that will keep OW away.

SA/R = OM who was ex of h, tried to SA/R the h but was stopped

We are introduced to a new MC, The Brimstone Kings, who we all love with alpha men with great big hearts. I really enjoyed the feeling of reading Ace and Peaches falling in love, and making beautiful memories. We have a fast paced story with low angst and holy cow, is Ace one dirty talking hunk of sexiness, Peaches you lucky woman!!!! We have some major issues with ex's but who won in the end, of course with a love so strong between these two, who do you think?? If your looking for your next low drama, sexy, sweet MC read Ace is your man, oops I mean read!!! Reviewed for HeadTripping Books by Carolyn.

It was ok... good ideas but too much detail of the unimportant things. Such as go to bathroom to get a shower and open the door and close it behind me then turn the water on to heat up and I pull my shirt over my head and reach behind me to unhook my bra and toss it to the clothes on the floor and unbutton my pants and pull them off, check the water and get in.... you get the idea...oh and this is NOT a sexy shower scene... this is just her getting a regular shower before work... hopefully she improved her writing so will try one more of the series.

Ok so I don't usually like to give a bad review but this was the worst book I've ever read. I felt like it was written by a teenager. I have to finish a book once I start it but this was testing me. I certainly will it be reading the next one in the series. I don't think the book was edited very well with the amount of spelling mistakes, words missing in sentences and there was even a few paragraphs written twice.

I only finished because I made up my mind to do so. The timeline seemed off to me throughout the novel. I have no problem with first person narration but I don't want the narrator to talk to me, for example when Allison said "get your mind out of the gutter". The book reads like one of those high school movies where the protagonist narrates. Feelings became very intense very quickly in this book and there is no end to the drama

Would be brilliant but ...

This would be brilliant but there's too many grammar mistakes and it's too descriptive , yes too much in one book . Would have been better in two parts then it wouldn't feel so full and drag on too much .
But saying that , it's an ok read and the characters are really good , so if the above doesn't annoy you too much , give it a go .

Enjoyable

Ace was an enjoyable read ,there were a few editing issues hence the rating and some of the sentences were long winded when they could have been short and precise but overall this book holds promise. The story was good 😍

This is a debut novel by the author. The basic storyline is a good one, typical of biker romance but I just found the flow of this story somewhat confusing at stages, we get both POV which helps in understanding the characters thoughts and actions. I just found it fast forwarded at the wrong times for me and there were two many storylines and I became lost and some outcomes I found the timeframes not working especially for Alison.

I have so many questions after reading this book.

What happened to her boss?, he was a major character in the start then just disappeared and considering his feelings, he could have thrown a bit of a power play into the story.

Porsche was one character, yes she was a typical bikie chick but I felt her part of the story did not flow into each other for me, in the end I found her inconsequential and her final scene with Ace in the hospital left me flat. I mean all that drama and then zip.

The MC club really takes a back seat to this whole story, it is more about Alison and Ace. Ace is a real soft bikie for a VP and not my kind of rough and rugged - I did not feel their instant connection at all.

Alison is 18, her actions reflect this and once I got past that fact then I could forgive her when she became somewhat annoying and emotional - but do not get me wrong she grew on me by the end and probably is what kept me reading.

Now I have read a shitload of Bikie romance novels and yes I know they are fantasy but there are some actions in this book that just did not feel right for me. The main moment for me was when a member from a rival gang was in the clubhouse in the VP bedroom, I mean how did he get past the gates, through the club and then be allowed to just walk out through the front of the clubhouse - did not make sense to me - sorry. These were the gaps I needed in the whole mystery and drama that was trying to be portrayed upon the pages.

This story had really great moments that I wish were extended to perhaps help create a bit more depth, there was in some ways for me too much happening with so many different characters like her sister and Viper, their story started off as all drama then just fell off the radar and I really liked them as a couple - they had fire and fight. I would have loved to see a scene at the hospital between them two where they decide to move forward together as a couple as Viper obviously loved her. That also would have entwined them into the final chapters where we get to see these characters further down the track.

This book gets all nicely tidied up at the end of the series, you get the HEA and see how these two characters are 10 years on which was a great way to close up the book and I was happy for them.

Liked not Loved.
