They call him Tommy ‘The Wolf’ Connelly. He's devastatingly handsome, with a blazing uppercut to boot. His occupation? Knocking grown men out cold. There's no way in hell he could be a good husband, let alone a good dad...right?
When the nerdy Devon Bell hits Vegas for spring break of her senior year at Harvard, she’s ready for some relaxation, sightseeing, and maybe a party or two. After all, she’s earned it. Her daunting degree in computer science didn’t earn itself.
A night on the town with a wild friend lands her ringside at a heavyweight boxing match. Devon can’t keep her eyes off the off the striking underdog fighter. There’s something so familiar about him.
After Tommy Connelly’s blockbuster win, it’s no surprise to find hot girls lining up outside his locker room. But this time, it’s hometown girl Devon Bell, the beautiful but slightly nerdy girl he was in love with back in high school. Devon’s all grown up, and Tommy’s more than happy to pick up where they left off.
There’s only one wrinkle in their a touch of “stomach flu” that turns out to be something neither one of them expected.
*BONUS BOOK* : (Inspired by a True Story) , a full-length student-teacher romance from Zoey Long, is included at the end of this book, completely FREE!
I hate writing negative reviews. This storyline has potential, but the author just had no clue how to get it done. She lost me when she had a professional fighter take down a guy in the street with no consequences. Really. I am thinking no research at all went into this before developing the story. Or maybe there was no organization and it was all stream of consciousness. In addition to this basic lack of knowledge of the chosen backstory, the writing was stiff and the story was choppy. Although it wasn't unreadable, I would not recommend this book.
Devon and Tommy grew up together. Went to the same schools. Became friends and had a young relationship in middle school. Entering high school is where things changed with them. Devon more focused on academics and Tommy more athletics. These two more or less drift apart. Fast forward ten years or so and they meet up again and pick up right where they left off.
An adorable love story. Newly graduated and transplanted Devin is now living in Las Vegas with best friend Rachel. One sight sees them at a prize fight and the contender is none other than Devin's first boyfriend. Reconnecting they begin to date and old insecurities are reexamined and revisited.
5 stars for Tommy and Devon I like these kind d of books. Love is forever whether your 5 or 25. If you've met you soul mate it doesn't matter how old you are you busy KNOW.
Devon is the girl that has always followed the path her parents have laid out for her. Once upon a time tho she meet the boy she feel in love with at a young age, he was her first kiss and first love. One trip to Vegas with her best friend and her friend has this notion of moving to Vegas but Devon is on the kick that she has a job waiting for her at home in Boston. So when Devons best friend talks her into moving out West to start her own new adventures of course her parents are less then thrilled. One night out will change her life when she runs into no one other then Tommy.
What I enjoyed most about Bare Knuckle Bride is watching a man who would do anything for the Woman he has loved practically his whole life, willing to put his own happiness aside to make sure that she wouldnt have to hear the grief that her parents would certainly give her if she was to get with a guy like him from the Southie. A Woman who has found love but never expected to get another chance but instead of being limited with age they can follow through and have the full love of being in a loving relationship with the ones they love today. A woman who goes for what she wants finally.
This is a great book. So entertaining that I couldnt put it down. This story has a man who is now a professional boxer that has always loved Devon but never told her even tho every one around them seemed to know, A woman who finally breaks free of her parents hold and does what she wants for the first time in her life, a grandmother who is there and has her back at every turn and then her parents that will try and make her life hell for the decisions she has made to live by on her own, If you like stories like this, then Bare Knuckle Bride is a must!!
Great story!! Really enjoyed it. I loved the second chance romance vibe that came with Devon and Tom. They never fully got to have their chance when they were kids even though they always loved each other. I loved that they got to have their chance this time and it was such a feel good romance for me the whole time. Devon has to deal with her stuck up parents but I was proud of her for the way that she handled things and how she looked at who Tom was as a person. Devon and Tom are just so good together that as soon as you see them interacting you can't help but start cheering for them. I loved the way that the story flowed and the way that things happened. The boxing is blended in really well and I thought the relationship developed great. The sex is explicit but it just added to the story for me because it fit the story and the characters really well. I didn't want to stop reading once I started it. I had to see how everything was going to work out.
I was given this ARC Ebook for an honest review. Devon is on Spring Break with her best frien Rachel. Rachel wants to move to Vegas and Devon decides to move their with her. Devon comes from a wealthy family who want her to work at a financial firm of her Dad's choosing after she graduates from Harvard and to marry someone of their social standing. Devon attends a boxing match in Vegas and recognizes the fighter Tommy "The Wolf" Connelly as her childhood sweetheart who gave her, her first kiss. To get his attention after the fight to see her, she yells out Goober Goober and he looks her way. They connect with each other again and get into a relationship that has its ups and down. They get their second chance at live. I really enjoyed this story and hope that Ryan and Rachel get their own story also. Thanks to Zoey Long for writing a story on second chances.
Devon - She's a good girl, who has followed the path her parents have set out for her, After School Clubs. She attended Harvard. They have her life mapped out, Until......
Tommy - He's a kid from Southside (South Boston) he's an up and coming boxer and a good one at that. When Devon and her best friend go to a boxing match, she can't believe who one of the fighters are. I really enjoyed this book. The interplay between all the character's is believable. You can't help but root for them. I'm hoping there maybe another book based on two of the other characters.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review and I am so glad that I was able to read this book because it was so great. Devon and Rachel are on Spring Break in Vegas when Rachel tells her that she is moving there after graduation and she wants Devon to come with her. It wasnt until that night when her and Rachel go to a boxing match when she notices one of the boxers as the guy who gave her the first kiss that has stayed on her mind all this time. This is one of those wrong side of the tracks feel good love stories.
One male jock one nerdy female over come obstacles later in life to together
2 life long friends and later first boyfriend an girlfriend at the age of thirteen an first kisses together are reunited after many years after graduation from college . At the ideal of her best friend they move to Vegas to start new lives after college from Boston. What she finds in Vegas changes her life forever. 18+
I liked to characters in this book but they were missing something deeper for me. They had an innocent love when they were young but social status & Devon's focus on Academics kept them apart. Now that Devon has gone off the course her parents have laid out for her she crosses paths with Tommy. They instantly connect and everything falls into place for their happily ever after - the only speed bump is Devon's parents. A few sex scenes. Good ending .
This is a cute romance about childhood sweethearts that meet again as adults and realize the feelings they had for each other never went away. The story is a fairly simple romance but nicely written and enjoyable. The characters are super likable without any guile or superficiality. Tommy and Devon are both very sweet. My rating for this book is 3.5 stars.
I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Gifted an ARC for an honest review..... This is a solid 3.5 star read. Tom and Devon story is about second chances, overcoming others expectations, and living your life for yourself. The storyline might be a little predictable, but how it unfolds is well done. The books fast paced, well developed, and has interesting characters who draw you in. An enjoyable read!!
I loved this book. It was well written with good characters and supporting characters. Devon evolves so much in this book, from a parent pleaser to wanting to be to please herself. A Chance meeting with her old flame Tommy, ignites a chemistry that never died. This is my first book by this author and I cannot wait for more. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Another great romance by Zoey Long. Devon and Tommy were childhood friends who allowed the pressures of class and high school cliques to prevent the love they always felt for each other, but they find each other again in the oddest of places: Las Vegas. They find their attraction has never ended, but will it be strong enough now to overcome the old problems as well as a handful of new ones?
This book had me in happy tears and the end! It is a story you don't want to miss out on. The characters are so well written in this book that you can't help but relate to them and feel sorry for some the things that happen to them. All I can say is that the ending makes this book well worth reading.
Arc review for honest review. Wow what a great story of Tommy a man fighter and Devon who see him a fighter and remembers him as goober from her child hood ..great story and awesome writing.
