THIS DEBATE IS HEATING UP MORE THAN JUST THE AIRWAVES…
Battling back from losing everything in a scandal that cost him the chance to be elected to the U.S. Senate, disgraced politician Caine Williams is learning to take things one day at a time. The opportunity to host a political talk show, Raising Caine, on PRIDE XM Radio, is the next step in getting his life back.
Up-and-coming Republican political commentator Darwin Edwards is hoping a guest appearance on Raising Caine will give him some national exposure and take his career to the next level. The last thing he expects is such a strong attraction to his annoyingly liberal co-host.
Impressed by the ratings brought in by Caine and Darwin’s broadcast, the powers that be ask Darwin to join the show permanently, and sparks begin to fly between the co-hosts both in and out of the studio.
Can Darwin and Caine learn to work together or will their budding attraction be nipped in the bud before it can evolve into something more?
Sick of the slogging rat-race of her 9-5 job, Pandora Pine put pen to paper (literally!) to make her ambition of becoming a romance novelist a reality. She cut her teeth in the dog-eat-dog world of fanfiction, still dreaming of the day when she would be a published author. She lives in Massachusetts with her blabbermouth muse who’ s a fan of middle of the night plot twists.
In her spare time, Pandora fancies herself an amateur nature photographer. She enjoys mucking around in swamps, hiking through the woods and crawling around on her hands and knees in her backyard seeking out the perfect shot. Pandora is a fan of roadside seafood shacks and always thinks Mexican food is a good idea at the time.
Some of Pandora’s favorite things are chocolate, writing longhand with purple pens and handsome men falling in love with each other.

Brief summary: Conservative, virginal political pundit (Darwin; the joke was on grandma) raised by his abusive Catholic granny falls for liberal almost-senator cum radio talk show host (Caine). They eat lobster mac 'n' cheese and watch turtles lay eggs on the beach.
A caller bitches out Darwin for being a gay man who votes for candidates wanting to strike down same-sex marriage. Darwin cries. Everyone rallies around Darwin.
Because WHY? Dunno.
The caller was right. Darwin is a hypocritical, repressed idiot.
In three days, Cain and Darwin are in love, life and political views be damned. Cue violin music and black dildo. (Turns out Darwin loves to take it up the ass. Grandma would be shocked!)
Fun facts:
- Someone laughs 113 times. That's some funny shit, yo.
- But they BURST OUT laughing only 50 times. Shit's gettin' real.
- Jesus is blasphemed 133 times, most commonly as "Jesus Christ" and "Jesus H." We get a few mentions of "Jesus fucking Christ" and, just to make sure we're referring to the same dude, "Jesus Christ on a cross" (as opposed to "on a bike")?
- Cocks "twitch" in agreement a dozen times. Not to be outdone, a "hole" twitches twice.
Conclusion: Dani's dumb. Dani read a bad, bad book. Don't be like Dani.
So, I sit here writing this, still bawling. Of course, if any of you pay attention, you know I bawl a lot. But damn, you authors know how to hit me right in the feels, every. Damn. Time. I loved this book. I love the characters. I'm so glad to see them all together and growing. My only complaint is watch the names. I catch that a lot. Putting in one name when you mean another. It kinda throws stuff off. But other than that I recommend. You know when you start a relationship, when it starts, it's that whole honeymoon phase. If you're fortunate enough to find the right one, the honeymoon lasts a lifetime. Now, that doesn't mean there aren't fights. It doesn't mean the sex doesn't cool off. Or things may get a little dull. Or you may want to beat your partner over the head with a hammer off and on. It just means if you've found the right one, you've not only found a lover, you've found a friend, a confidant, someone that has your back. When Darwin and Caine met another, they were enemies. More or less. The attraction was there and it was sparking. They were on two different sides of political things though, for the most part and got under each other's skins, bad. Being a guest on Caine’s talk show didn't seem to help. But they seemed to work through it, forming a friendship, and soon...more. But as with any relationship, sometimes life just comes up and smacks the holy crap out of you and before you know it, feelings are hurt, hearts are broken and no one sees a way back. Communication is key. Always. And not yelling. Actual communication. And when no one is talking, it just festers. These two had a hell of a lot to overcome in their pasts. But it seemed Darwin was doing most of the sharing. When life hit, there was no foundation. Or not much of one really. Yeah, they were great friends and lovers but it still takes more. But could they overcome what life had to offer? Angst. I know. You have to find out how it ends. I do have to say, there is one hell of a surprise ending. No sneak peaks either lol. It's worth it. It's a really good book.
*~~*ARC kindly provided by the author to me in exchange for an honest review *~~*
I was so thrilled when I got the information that Caine and Darwin would be the next pairing. The heated first appearance mentioned in the blurb presentation at the end of Pillow Talk (On the Radio # 1) was intriguing. :3
Caine and Darwin impressed me. Caine is as fierce as in the novel before but what I didn’t expect was his passion for animals, one species especially. :) It was so sweet to have this side of him.
The other unexpeted thing was Darwin’s experience or should I say: unexperiance? I don’t want to spoiler anybody but it was really interesting to see how many things he seemed to missed during his past…
I was very touched by the emotional mess at the end, it was a tough read, similar to the hard parts of the first volume. You understand totally Caine’s but also Darwin’s grief. But honestly I have to say my heart was more into Caine at some points and I was a bit disappointed by Darwin…
On the other hand it was also totally understandable that this mistake took place, due to Darwin’s past it was only logic it happend. The only thing which confused me was the appearance itself… It was a bit unrealistic and… yeah, we fade this out and call it book logic. xD
I was likewise touched and thrilled up by the (erotic) scenes between Caine and Darwin. Holy moly are these two guys hot. Single are they sweet and sometimes witty, light sarcstic, especially Caine, with a slight nerdy side. Darwin was overall sweet and innocent, somebody you want spoil a bit – but then not. xD I had to laugh when I read about the nerdy stuff like Doctor Who… Both guys cracked me up sometimes.
Besides all the fictional things I was impressed by the fierceness of Pandora Pine. She is brave enough to put political topics in her book and – to put it on top – talked – even when no names where mentioned – about the current presidential candidates in the USA. Maybe the political issue would be too much for some reader, I loved it. :)
All in all a great book, with unexpected twists, a good character developement and charming minor character you instantly love (since book one actually xD). Steamy delivery of erotical scenes and deep emotions. Highly recommended.
I am really loving this series from the very talented Pandora Pine! Double Talk is the second book in the On The Radio series and let me tell you, it is even better than Pillow Talk!
Caine's political career went up in smoke after a scandal and he flees down to Florida and begins hosting a political radio show.
Darwin is a young political commentator and is asked to be a guest host on the popular show, Raising Caine. When these two meet, wow did the sexual sparks fly! After their very high rated show, they agree to 4 more shows before Darwin has to return home. Even though they are very attracted to each other, Caine senses that Darwin has never been with a man. When he finds out the real reason Darwin has never even been kissed, he vows to take things slow and tries to make Darwin understand that what his grandparents taught him about gay sex being an abomination is wrong.
“You spent years listening to what your grandmother and the priests told you to believe, but what if they’re wrong? What if following your heart and loving who you want to love is how you’re supposed to live?”
But with only 4 days in order to convince him to stay, Caine must up the ante, so to speak.
Pandora Pine has such a quirky sense of humor and she infuses this into her writing! Sam's country-isms are hilarious!
“Dang, boy! That was more excitin’ than a pissin’ contest in a hurricane!”“No, that was more like five gallons of shit in a two gallon bucket.”
He had enough on his plate dealing with Darwin and the problem of how to keep the two of them from coming to blows or blow jobs over the next four days.
“I’ve never been here for dinner, but I’m a giant five year old, so I’m gonna get the lobster mac and cheese.” Darwin snorted, slapping his menu on the table. “Is that why you were so grumpy around 1 pm, ‘cause you needed a nap and a juice box?”
What I loved about this story was that they really came to realize their feelings for each other when they were on the beach, late at night, watching to find endangered mother turtles coming to lay their eggs.
Caine shuddered to think what would happen if he were to ever do more than touch Darwin over his clothes. He had a feeling it would be explosive, like gasoline mixed with dynamite.
My Kindle melted when these two finally got together! Ms. Pine doesn't make it easy for them and throws their relationship some double edged curve balls, but I loved the ending and the epilogue was so romantic!
“Will you be my first boyfriend, Caine?”
I highly recommend this series! This is a standalone story but you will enjoy it more by reading Pillow Talk first! Next up I am impatiently waiting for Country Talk, Sam and Rhett's story!
✨✨✨✨✨ I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book ✨✨✨✨✨
3.5 stars. First I have to say is that I love Ms. Pine's books, this one, not so much. I loved Caine and he has done an awesome job of rebuilding himself after the scandal that cost him everything. Darwin, not so much & let me tell you why. Darwin was raised in a very strike catholic home where being gay is a mortal sin, and his "nana" tells him this all the time because he is gay. I can't remember how old Darwin is but I believe he is in his early 30's. He has never had any sexual encounters, ever. He is for the candidate that shall not be named, who is unfortunately our current real life president, even though he is against same sex marriage. And he justifies this as he will never get married because he is never going to give in to his feelings for another man. So after 30 whatever years within like two or three days of meeting Caine, his views & beliefs are thrown out the window. No real soul searching. I don't feel like he ever struggled with it. But if you get past that, I did like them together & thought they made a cute couple. And there is a major drama filled portion and that was a huge blow up and I liked that all wasn't forgiven immediately. I know that Rhett and Sam's book is going to gut me, but I can't wait to start their book.
Enjoyed this second book in the series, Caine and Darwin's story, and getting to spend more time with great characters we met in book one. While the political talk is timely and appreciated the instant attraction is more believable than the awfully speedy conversion of Darwin's politics. Those that supported the "billionaire businessman" presidential candidate unfortunately were not so quickly deterred after some of his awful statements.
Additionally, the crisis moment was so completely over the top ugly there is no possible way that the other guys would have been so understanding nor Caine so quickly forgiving. The author never did adequately explain why Darwin believed the information so easily...which is what made his actions so heinous.
Likewise the big surprise at the end is just so contrived and unbelievable it's a bit difficult to swallow and kind of ruined the end of the book for me. Would have been more believable if embarrassment over Caine's condemnation in his statements on the radio broadcast caused the scene we witness.
Having said all that I still enjoyed the book and am looking forward to finally getting Sam and Rhett's story in book three.
A fabulous book I'm kicking myself i didn't read it sooner. I loved Darwin and Caine's characters as i laughed, cried with them well almost and cheered them on. They are great together but when the past comes back and bites it'll puts a test on their relationship. I loved the ending of this I couldn't put the book down until i knew what would happen. Caine was in line to win his seat for the senator for government. He was gay and hid in the closet, his lover Matt ..but all that now is history..info was leaked to the media Caine had no knowledge off. Now 19 months later he was late to meet friends and his boss, Rhett. Rhett had a radio station and was always looking for ratings. A guest spot is in line for Caine and didn't like one bit. Darwin Edwards was a up in coming conservative commentator in politics.. He was the next guest on Rasing Caine radio talk show .oh things will be hot, how hot remains to be seen.
This is a great series but the books also stand alone.
Double Talk is the second book in the On the Radio series but it can be read as a stand-alone, too. If you like reading series in order as much as I do, though, I highly recommend reading Pillow Talk first. It’s a great book and it sets up the rest of the series.
On to Double Talk…
Caine Williams was destined to succeed his father as a United States Senator until everything fell apart and his career was left in ruins amid a scandal. He was in the closet to most of the world until the scandal broke and then he went into the bottle. Later, the program manager at Pride XM Radio gave him a new start with his own radio talk show – Raising Caine.
Conservative political commentator, Darwin Edwards, is brought in to spend a week as co-host of Caine’s show but Caine isn’t happy about it. Darwin supports everything that Caine hates – or at least that’s what Caine thinks. Darwin had an unpleasant childhood, raised by his bible thumping Catholic grandmother who preached to Caine that the only was he could get to heaven was to suppress his “unnatural” urges and remain celibate for life.
After their initial meeting things quickly heat up between Caine and Darwin; the attraction between the two men is too strong to ignore. Caine won’t push things though, and lets things move at Darwin’s pace, because he won’t be responsible for Darwin turning his back on what he’s been taught to believe.
I loved the by-play between Caine and Darwin but things just seemed to go too smoothly and I knew it wasn’t going to be that easy. When the hammer dropped I was stunned; I just hadn’t seen the magnitude of the problem coming. The chasm between Caine and Darwin was became wide I wondered how Ms. Pine was going to get them back on track to their HEA. Never fear, though, get them back on track she did. She also wrote a fantastic epilogue with some things in it that I sure didn’t anticipate.
The next book in the series, Country Talk, will be about Sam and Rhett (coming in December 2016) and I can’t wait to read it!
An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.
And, what would be a Pandora Pine book without playing the "mixed up name game"? I know, I know... a well-proofread book! *snort* LOL!!!
All sarcasm aside, this was an entertaining read and yes, *sigh* the number of tears that fell could have filled a swimming pool, but I am really liking these two! I am sure that Grey, Logan, Caine, and Darwin will offer some much-needed good relationship advice and possibly some not-so-great sex advice to Sam and Rhett before they get their HEA in the third book of this series...
Jumping right into Country Talk... Sam is due his happy ending and Rhett deserves to win his Sam!
Wow I am fast becoming hooked on this series. This series will grab ahold of you and trust me you dont want it to let you go. The characters are totally flawed in their own ways but totally loveable too. I love all the characters we have met in the first 2 books, Logan and Grey, Caine and Darwin, and Rhett and Sam. These 6 men are family and I cant wait for Rhett and Sams book in December.
This book hit me hard. I saw a lot of myself in both MCs. I was raised by strict, religious, conservative homophobes. My heart was breaking for these two young men who never got the chance to heal their broken hearts before falling in love with each other. It was somewhat soothing to watch them grow together and form a relationship that they had both been denied all their lives. The Epilogue, with the Caine’s parents trying to right their wrongs made me misty eyed. Turtles can heal all wounds.
freakin amazing. i loved it so much... this one i will admit wasnt my favorite.. i enjoyed the first better but thats only because this one was about two political men and im not political haha.. but the storyline and the characters are so amazing
Wow,just finished reading this story a very interesting read. Cain and Darwin’s situation was tense and I am glad for the ending even though it was a surprise.
Cain's life thrived on the joy he got from being a senator. It was the one route he had gotten right in his father's eyes. He should have been more vigilant and not allow personal affairs to cost him his seat.
Being accused of skimming money from his campaign lost him everything. In fact the words spoken seemed believable to everyone, during a debate nonetheless: "You’ve been in long-term recovery for alcoholism, perhaps you fell off the wagon and spent the cash during a blackout?" The fact that it was someone he held in high esteem hurt. Now he was lost, hurt, and needing to find his way. Getting a request from a Floridian company to host his own political show calledRaising Caine, was enough to get him out of his misery and start over.
Darwin Edwards was probably the most conservative commentator in politics today.
And Caine had never felt this kind of instantaneous attraction to anyone before. It was like chicken to hot fat, the chemistry that these two men gave off. There was no way Caine was going to survive the storm that was Darwin. But Darwin was a contradiction. A gay man so caught up in what he was made to believe he believed acting on being gay was a sin.
He is my forever.
Just when Caine was about to surprise Darwin, in walks a blast from the past, regaling tales that cast a bad light on Caine. Now negotiating past lies and getting to the truth was going to test the strength of the guys' relationship. Can Caine prove that he had been set up and win back the joy he had found with Darwin? Or will Darwin's conservative nature rear its ugly head and send them back to the way it used to be?
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the Author.
I really enjoyed this second book in Pandora Pine's On The Radio series. I loved the first book and couldn't wait for more from these guys. Caine and Darwin's story did not disappoint. The first time they go on air together is so volatile that I knew this matchup was going to be combustible. The chemistry between them was undeniable and when they gave in it was as hot as I anticipated. Caine is just as strong a character in this book as he appeared to be in Pillow Talk, but I enjoyed learning more about him and seeing other sides of him. Darwin was not quite what I expected, but in a good way. He seemed almost innocent at times. I loved watching their relationship bloom, even with Darwin's past between them. I knew it couldn't be that easy, but I was still shocked at what happened when it all went wrong. It was painful to read and I could not wait for them to find their way back to each other. Their HEA was well-deserved. I loved it. The secondary characters were just as fantastic in this book as in the first. I love the group that makes up Pride Radio. These men are realistic characters who are relatable and interesting.
With this series (the first I have read from her), Pandora Pine has become an automatic one-click author for me. Her writing flows easily and the pace of the story was just right. I like how she incorporated issues from today's politics into this novel, making it an even more powerful and relevant read. This book had it all - humor, romance, angst, friendship, love, and seriously hot sex. I cannot wait for Sam and Rhett's story!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
Caine and Darwin are combustible! I really am loving Pandora Pine's On The Radio series!! Double Talk is the second book in this series and yes it can be read as a stand alone, but it is so much enhanced, if you have already read the first book, Pillow Talk. In book 1 you get to meet and fall in love with all the guys and yes, Caine is one special guy.
We really get to know him in this book and understand his backstory and are rooting for his finding happiness. Caine and Darwin are so very different on the surface, but once the author allows us to get to know these men, you see how well the fit together, how their broken parts mend and they become stronger together. Darwin's growth and self discovery was inspiring, and his innocence is believable and deeply moving.
Together these guys had so much passion and restraint. I was so touched with the care that Caine took with Darwin, his care and respect of the choices that Darwin had made in live was powerful. Darwin embarrasses his new awareness and i love how he goes all in with his passion. My heart hurt with the sadness of both of their backstories and i cried during some of this book. Their was such sadness and heartbreak, but thankfully it was dealt with quickly and both Caine and Darwin bloomed in front of our eyes.
i love the setting of Pride Radio and the story is so much richer because of the supporting characters, that we learned to love in book and we grow to cherish in this book. The additional touches of the Sea Turtles and the diner, just all really added to the story for me.
I cannot wait for Sam and Rhett's story! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book is the second in the series but can be read as a standalone. I'm a stickler though and have to read a series in order. I absolutely loved Caine in the 1st book and was so looking forward to reading this book. I wasn't disappointed at all. Caine and Darwin together are so fantastic. They rival Logan and Grey as my favourite couple. Caine is so much of a contradiction to what you think he is going to be. Darwin is also not how you think he is going to be. Because of his upbringing he has lots of ideas and beliefs that contradict what a gay man and himself should/do think. It's not all plain sailing and you wonder how Pandora can pull a HEA from this. I loved the humour, the affection, the snark and the trust ??? but I hated the trust issues. I also loved the love of turtles which should have been a total turnoff for the pure geekyness but wasn't and there was total greenness with other subjects too. This book lived up to the promise from book 1 when you had a sneak peak into the relationship. It also held its own against the fantastic writing of book 1. This was just as fantastic. Now I can't wait to read Sam's book and to see how Pandora is going to play the story. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
I read the first book that was Logan and Grey's story and you meet all the other characters. All the main characters are back and just as funny and lovable. Caine gets a temporary co-host just as Logan did. Darwin joins Caine for a week as a guest co-host and these two don't see eye to eye on anything. Sparks do fly between them though. Grab this book and see if opposite does attract.
This is a beautifully written book that keeps you guessing until near the end. This is book two in the series but can be read as a stand alone. The characters are interesting and keep you reading until the end hoping for the happy ending these characters deserve. Well worth a read.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I loved the first book and thought it couldn't get better. It's gets better. I loved the story between Caine and Darwin. I can't wait for Sam and Rhett.
I am loving this series! Pandora Pine has become an auto buy for me! I really love the characters she has created and can't wait for more in this series!
