Resurrection #4

Fall from Grace

Rate this book
A time-travel vampire romance.

Eternal life is far too long when the man you love doesn’t love you.
Grace has been resurrected. She’s a vampire, an apex predator who will live for millennia. But that’s the problem; she’s no different to any other vampire. The one thing which fascinated Roman – her ability to time-travel – died when Grace did.
As Roman becomes more distant and preoccupied, Grace seeks something or someone to ease her loneliness.
This is the fourth novel in the Resurrection series.

For Grace, life isn’t what she thought it would be. Once clinging to life with only Roman as her shining star, they have become like a distant couple with little to bring them the closeness they once knew. Alone, lost and confused, Grace acts out like a teen, living life on the edge, in her new dark and dangerous world. Poor choices, bad decisions and a handsome face could bring their world crashing down in a bloodbath of hate.

Roman has become obsessed with his research and is attracted to a human scientist, will he, too make a dangerous mistake by straying from the relationship he has with Grace? Now that the timeline has caught up with contemporary times, there is no need for time travel and no distance to make their hearts grow fonder.

Elizabeth Davies has changed up the game for Roman and Grace and they both are drowning in an unknown sea. Like any couple who does not nurture their relationship, there will be trouble in paradise, but how could they know that trouble would bring them Hell on earth?
Fear and hatred abound as Grace, Roman and his research become the target of vigilante humans who have inserted themselves in their lives. Their true feelings for each other may save their lives, and those of the vampire population. Do they have what it takes to survive? Eternity is a long time to have regrets…

Fall from Grace continues the love story of Grace and Roman as they struggle to adjust to their new relationship and Elizabeth Davies has placed a slice of reality into her tale with the precision of a surgeon. Grace is in a world of emotional turmoil as she battle her two natures, while Roman is hard-pressed to remember his own humanity. I asked myself, where is he now that she needs him, and why won’t she talk to him? Like they say, communication, communication, communication…it could be a matter of life and death.

Thank you, Elizabeth Davies for taking that path less followed and creating another fabulous tale that once again proves this is an author with the chops to color outside the expected line!

I received this copy from Elizabeth Davies in exchange for my honest review.

REVIEW PUBLISHED NOW!

While I loved the previous books, I didn’t enjoy this one... Sorry….

Here we follow Grace after her resurrection. She’s now a vampire, and while now she and Roman can be eternally together, she’s not happy. And she’s not wrong: Roman is neglecting her totally…

He’s immersed in research (very secret medical research about the why vampirism exist and all the related topics): he breaths and lives for that. He lives in his laboratory, leaving only sporadically (to have sex with Grace and to feed), totally abandoning Grace to herself!

Grace is lost in her new life. She doesn’t know what to do with herself. She was hoping that now that she’s immortal she will spend wonderful time with Roman, but that’s not the case. She feels abandoned and lonely. Roman should have been acting as her mentor and her guide, but he’s not to be bothered with that and delegates to Viktor…

But Grace is not happy at all: she wants Roman! And she indulges in several stupid temper tantrums… She becomes a hormonal teenager!

Her actions are impulsive and stupid. She doesn’t act with reason, but even if she argues with herself about how her acts are stupid, she did them all the same!!!!

I didn’t like that at all!

Roman, on his part is also acting like an idiot. For a very old vampire, who should be very expert with new vampires (and woman too!) he does everything and all that he shouldn’t do!!!!

He leaves Grace to wade in her new vampire life without instructions; he feeds her jealousy, he have sex with her and then abandon her… As I said he acts an idiot!

And I didn’t like that too!

The ending is what makes me want to read the next book: what will happen now with vampires? How will they hide now if the humans become immune to mesmerizing? Will the plague kill so many humans that the vampire will die too?

All these questions are left hanging and I want to know what will happen next and how Ms. Davis will solve these problems!

I think I have read every one of Ms Davies books and each of them has been unputdownable. And this one is no exception.

Spoilers if you haven't read the first three books...

I felt a strong connection to the characters, especially Grace, and loved the shift of perspectives between Grace and Roman. I loved the intricate world and the sharp writing - I was swept up in the story and devoured every word. It took me so far out my world that I had to remind myself that it's all fiction.

It’s very worth reading if you’re a fan of paranormal novels, beautifully written with an intriguing mystery and engaging, memorable characters. I anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

An arc of this book was generously provided by the author.

This was the forth book in the series. I was so glad to get to read this book, I needed more of this story! I loved the characters and it was interesting to see how she dealt with being a vampire. And the ending...oh my god! I really hope the next one comes out soon!

Fall from Grace is the fourth book in the Resurrection series by Elizabeth Davies. To wholly understand what is going on you really do need to read the other books in the series first. If you haven't read them first then I am afraid this review is going to start with quite the spoiler!

In order to be eternally together Roman resurrected Grace when she died from cancer. She is now a vampire and Roman should spend extra time with her to ensure that she learns to handle her life as such. Teach her the ways of vampirism as it were. Unfortunately he is busy with his work trying to discover what makes some humans enthrallable, and others not. He also, more importantly for the human race, is trying to find a cure for a new strain of flu that has the potential to wipe out at least a third of the population.

With Roman so preoccupied Grace feels more alone than ever. She is hurt to discover that becoming a vampire to be with Roman for eternity seems to have pushed them apart rather than pull them closer together. He is not her knight in shining armour any more. Having so much time on her hands makes her want for companionship, and when she starts talking to a stranger on a plane, she starts to make choices that could affect her relationship with Roman forever, and perhaps much more than that.

Roman on the other hand doesn't have an inkling of how Grace is feeling, but he must feel some of their distance because he too starts to feel an attraction to one of his work colleagues. The woman in question is a human, one who doesn't know he is a vampire, and is helping him with his vital work. He even begins to wonder if he could offer her eternal life because a mind like hers would be extremely helpful, and a loss to the scientific world when she dies.

While totally lost in their own worlds, neither Roman nor Grace realise that their lives are in danger, and that a force against vampires are closing in. Their is huge potential not only for the vampire population to be wiped out, but the world could be in worse jeopardy than it already is with the potential new flu strain.

There is a HUGE cliffhanger to this story, but thankfully the next and final book in the series is already released, so I don't have to wait to find out what happens! This book is a real page turner. From beginning to end I was absolutely hooked. I was so thrilled that Grace's resurrection was a success. Roman and Grace are soul mates, they should never be parted. When they ended up so distant in this latest book I was a bit shocked, I had images of them being all over each other and happy. But of course, if they hadn't had a strained relationship the events that occur might never have come to fruition. I ran the whole gamut of emotions reading this story, it is so fabulously written. The author makes you feel as if you are among the characters, you feel what they feel, the love the loss, the pain. It, like the previous books in the series is extremely captivating and I thoroughly recommend them all.

In this exciting installment, Grace has been resurrected and attempting to adjust to her new life and everything that comes with being a vampire. Everything is new to her, from finding her next ‘meal’, to coming to grips that she will live for a very long time. All that would be great, but the one person who she thought would be there to guide her through it all, Roman, has become quite distant and immersed in his work and spending a lot of time alongside his sexy fellow scientist. Believing that Roman has abandoned her for someone new, Grace seeks out other activities and companionship to ease her loneliness and bitterness at Roman’s apparent betrayal. In addition to the couple trying to figure things out and work on their communication skills, The Brotherhood is hard on their heels and the world is about to face the deadliest pandemic it has ever witnessed.

Fall from Grace is another spectacular installment of the Resurrection series by Elizabeth Davies. I have followed this series from the start, and each book becomes better and better. The story flowed smoothly and seamlessly and kept me intrigued throughout. It truly was phenomenal – from the exceptional writing to how everything just seemed to fit together perfectly. The main characters are all well-developed and the plot was so intriguing that I couldn’t for the life of me put the book down until the end. Fall from Grace is definitely not a standalone and the reader will benefit from reading the previous novels to understand exactly how all the pieces fit together. I really hope that there is another book in the works, because this reader needs more of Grace and Roman!

Overall, this series is one of my all-time favorites as it is the perfect combination for romance, paranormal, and suspense. This series is definitely a must read and one that I highly recommend to any paranormal romance fan. 5 well deserving stars for Fall from Grace!

Oh the heartache! My heart was breaking at times in this fourth book in the series because of all the misunderstandings and the tribulations that Roman and Grace endured. Roman is now one of my favourite characters as he just oozes sex appeal, charisma, charm all rolled up in a hot, sexy, alpha vampire body. I didn't want the story to end and I am looking to reading the next story in this series because there is so much more that I want to see happen and experience with this wonderful couple. Not only is this a hot, passionate, tender, love story but it has all the elements that you want in a book, intrigue, adventure, twist and turns, tenderness, hot sexy times and tribulations. I could not put this book down. You have to read this series in order. It is NOT a standalone and I know that I will be reading this series again to savour every moment these two share.

I got an ARC from the author.
I'm in between 4,5 and 5 stars. Elizabeth Davies is an amazing writer. The story is extremely well written and captivating. I was in a dark place because I couldn't find a book I'd like to binge read. I adore captivating stories they lure you in and keep you there.

I truly loved the first three books, the fourth was.. not anticipated. It was still a nice surprise and I'm not going to complain about the gifted horse etc.

I haven't been into vampire stories lately, but Roman and Grace are different reality. The story keeps getting better!
Recovering from the book hangover, anxious that there will be more of Grace ;)

What a captivating follow up to the previous books! I was in turmoil not knowing what had become of Roman and Grace, and was pleasantly surprised. This was not what I was expecting. I loved the twist to this unique tale. Grace seems to really struggle with her new vampirism and control her very human emotions. Yet that charm and passion have seemed to soften Roman a bit. However he is very aloof during the first part of this book.
I enjoyed getting answers to some of my unanswered questions but have been left with more..... What will Roman make Grace endure next.
I was gifted this in exchange for an honest and unbiased review

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
I was honored to be considered to review this book.
I also received the previous books for an honest review. These books just keep getting better and better. The worst part of this book was that it ended. I was on the edge of my seat until the last page. I cannot wait to read the next book!
It was so exhilerating! I really felt like I had become a part of the book and was very vested with the characters. I cannot wait to find out what happens in the next book.

Being a book blogger means the most precious time is free time to read. Hence the problem when requested to read a new book but with it being part of a series and in this case already the 4th book.

When I was approached by Elizabeth Davies and asked if I would read “Fall from Grace” I was really struggling because no way my tight schedule would leave me with the time to read the first 3 books.

But on the other hand I did not want to disappoint the author by declining, because I really liked her writing style when I read “The medium path” … So I did something that I have not done so far …

I read the Blurbs of the first 3 books and several reviews of likeminded people on those books to create a picture of the story in my mind. And then I went to work with “Fall from Grace”

Interesting enough it was not that bad to start like this. Surely I was missing a lot of background but I understood enough to judge that my first impression on the writing style of Ms. Davies was no wrong.

She captivates her readers and even though vampire stories are actually not “my thing” at the moment I found myself thinking what would happen next.

I can highly recommend this well written book (and if this book is any indication – even this complete series should be recommendable) so please enjoy

(but please start with the first book… #lol)

This book was sent me by the author for a review. I really enjoyed reading the first three books so I was surprised that another book came out in this series, especially since I was satisfied with the way things were tied up in the last book. This book picks up a year after Grace has "died" and is having a hard time adjusting to her new life. She lets her humanity get in the way of how she is supposed to live her life. When she goes back to Brecon, that broke my heart and I wasn't expecting that. After she returns to Paris, she is feeling neglected and discarded by Roman. She begins to feel desired by a human named Cole and begins to wonder what could happen between them. Even though she has these thoughts and feelings, she also feels like she is betraying Roman. She tells Roman how she feels and he doesn't reciprocate, which only crushes Grace more. Meanwhile, Roman is obsessed with his work and thinks that as long as Grace is safe, then everything is ok. Even when he admits to himself how he feels about Grace, he doesn't think to let her know. There is romance, intrigue, heartache, and twists throughout this book that kept my attention from beginning to end. The next book can't come out soon enough

Fall from Grace is book 4 in the Resurrection series. I really recommend that you read the 3 books in the series before this one. That will make the story make a lot better sense!!! This book starts where book 3, Sanctifying Grace, ended -- another reason to have read the previous books in the series first.

Grace is now a vampire, and while now she and Roman can be eternally together, but she’s not happy. Part of her problem is that Roman is neglecting her. He’s immersed in his research -- very secret medical research about why vampires exist. I don't write spoilers -- so, I will stop telling you what is going to happen and say that you really need to read the book to find out for yourself!!!

I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.

Fall from Grace, book 4 in the Resurrection series, is an amazing read! First of all, this book started where book 3, Sanctifying Grace, ended - so you must read the first 3 books in the series before reading this book. Anyway, as the story continues, Grace has been resurrected but then Roman's fascination to her somewhat died. Grace and Roman's story will get more interesting and intriguing. On the first few chapters of this book, I kind of not liking Roman.. :( **ugghh** Anyway, I love how Ms. Elizabeth made the story intriguing and full of surprises! I can't wait to see what will happen next to Grace and Roman!

This one is has a completely different feel from its predecessors. It is no longer a romance and this book is perhaps a change in direction for the series.

In a way I found it a bit of a letdown, gone was the emotional zing that characterised the first three books. Roman has become distant leaving Grace metaphorically bleeding but he gives no indication that he notices, or even cares. I did enjoy getting to look inside Roman’s head, and the chapters from his POV were enlightening, but even then Grace was only ever an side thought, he was consumed by his research, understandable, but honestly for him to be portrayed as so thick as to not even begin to comprehend what Grace was feeling was a bit too much. Even Viktor who has always been portrayed as aloof and unfeeling has more of an idea of what she is going through, never mind the man that is meant to love her beyond reason!

I also found it disappointing that the revelation in the very last chapter of book three was never fleshed out. It was referred to in a sentence here and there, but that alone could have been a big emotional moment without ruining the change of story arc the author was going for.

For all that, I enjoyed the book and it still kept me turning the pages, but it left me emotionally dead, and by the time of the big reveal, what exactly Roman was working on and its high stakes ramifications, I found I really didn’t care anymore. The attempts to resurrect Roman and Grace’s relationship fell flat and I just didn’t really feel it anymore. The romance was the lifeblood of the first three books, it is what kept me turning those pages, and after the last hugely emotional last book, this one was even more noticeable in its sterility.

I’m assuming there will be a fifth book as this one leaves it, not on a cliff-hanger, but with very definite loose ends. I’ll probably pick it up just to see where the story moves to from here. With any luck the author will again inject some of the emotion that captured the reader’s heart in the first three books.

I didn't hate but I didn't love it either. It took something out of the book when Grace became a vampire and it wasn't the loss of her time travel ability that was the problem. While I sympathized with Grace's feelings over Roman's behavior, it was kind of draining to watch him continue to gloss the whole thing over or chalk it up to being confused about women. He is a poor sanguinisto (and boyfriend) but maybe that has something to do with how he became a vampire even though he had Viktor.

Title fits how the book ended. Not really sure how I feel about this book. There was so much unrest, discord, hints at infidelity and very little of the Roman-Grace relationship dynamic from previous books that I felt let down. Perhaps this is the fourth-book-in-series story plateau that makes the fifth book shine? It is interesting how the focus of the story is now a scientific one around blood and DNA.

There is a change in direction from previous books, the feel of the book is different and the emotional connection of the h/h is flat. The romance has dimmed somewhat. I'm not a fan of this sudden change in atmosphere, plot and romance. At this rate, I wish it had ended at book 3.

This book was given to me, by the author, in return for an honest review. Thank you.

I was not sure what to think of this book. I honestly didn't know if I liked it or not. I didn't hate it, but I didn't jump for joy in excitement through most of it like I did the first three books. Here is why:

1) Why doesn't Grace just talk to Roman? You have an issue, say something.
2) Why is Roman so blah about Grace? He chased her for millennia!

These two points really bothered me overall. It almost felt like their hatred or dislike for what the other did was forced. I would have liked it much better if they just got along and did what needed to be done to survive. I am a sucker for complacent relationships.

Okay, now only to why I gave it three stars, instead of only two:

The plot is overall good, but the mysterious deaths were not brought forward, but it seemed like they were pushed behind the Grace/Roman drama plot and I think a lot more could have been done to see that the murders be put forward. I am still not 100% sure who did it and I hope it will be in the next book. I am looking forward to the next book, which is a bonus, so there is hope!

The ending is what saved this series for me and why I gave it a three, not a two or one. I did not see what happened coming and I wish a little more of that was brought forward before the full ending.

Overall I liked the book, I love the series, and I want to see more; just more of the murder mystery and less of the drama. I hope in the next few books that the Brotherhood comes up more, and the murders are brought to the forefront.

Thank you to the author for the chance to read this book.

Fall From Grace- Resurrection #4
I found this really hard to read, not because it was bad- it was really, really good, but because I'm so attached to this story.
This series doesn't muck around, book 4 starts one year after the last book. Grace is now a vampire and is getting used to how it all works. Struggling with how to be a good vampire and finding her feet with her relationship with Roman- which is now full-time and not sporadic when they were only together randomly throughout time. It's no wonder Grace is finding it tough to deal.
Because their timelines have caught up there is no more time travelling for Grace, something that made the first 3 books in the series stand out for me. I loved the thrill of waiting for it to happen again and excitement of wanting to know when she would appear to Roman.
So it looks like the Resurrection series is going into a new direction which is what I have come to love from this writer and series: this is happening, fasten your seat belt. This series isn't going to wait for you to catch up to keep up or you'll fall behind and get lost.
