Awakened Dragons #4

Diamond Dragon

Rate this book
The fourth dragon has been awakened...

Alistair Brighton, the diamond dragon, needs to escape. Imprisoned, chained and used for experiments, his only hope for escape is Bridget, the quiet human woman who brings him his meals (and intrigues him for mysterious reasons). But Bridget isn't sure she wants to let a dangerous dragon out of his cage, and Alistair can't promise he was ever much of a hero.

Bridget is running out of options. While seeking info on a missing friend, she fell in among vicious shifters who see humans as slaves or worse. Every day brings more danger, mainly from the gross alpha wolf who has decided she's his property, but also from the beautiful prisoner in the basement, who claims to be a dragon and draws her in with pretty promises but pushes her away with the ominous glint in his eyes.

But when Bridget's back is literally to the wall, Alistair surprises them both by coming to the rescue. Now Bridget's on the run with a dragon, and isn't sure what's more dangerous: his powers or his steamy, insistent kisses. And Alistair is realizing that for the right person, he might just be a hero after all.

Warning: contains ferocious dragons, fearsome fights and fiery love scenes. The fourth book in a brand new series with dragons unlike anything Terry has written!

Could not stand the heroine. Too selfish to be likeable or even redeemable. The dragon Hero was neat.

The author got lazy and did not do any world building. The reader is dependent upon the previous books. Not reading any further in this series. (Reminds me of Charlie Richards.)

And what is with all of the damn cats in this series?

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked both Alistair and Bridget and liked their story overall.

Bridget is a woman in a bad position when the story begins. She's trapped in a shifter compound because she went looking for a friend that disappeared and got caught. She hasn't tried to escape yet because she hopes to find info on her friend, Lana, but she also has a shifter that has an unfortunate interest in her and seems likely to push things soon.

Alistair is a diamond dragon that was asleep for centuries. He was rather self indulgent and materialistic before his sleep and liked humans alright but never went out of his way to help or hinder. He was woken up early and kidnapped by bad shifters and then imprisoned for months.

Bridget is "working" at the shifter compound and is tasked with the menial tasks, including taking food to Alistair in his cell. They talk sometimes but it's usually brief and Bridget hasn't been willing to help Alistair escape, lest she endanger herself and her mission to save Lana. It takes a while for things to culminate but eventually an issue comes up that makes Bridget realize she can't stay and Alistair breaks out to save her and himself.

Alistair and Bridget make an arrangement between them to escape together and once Alistair has his collar off and his powers back, they'll find Lana and free her. There's an attraction between them but they both seem intent on trying to ignore their feelings, Bridget because she's sure her attraction to Alistair is one-sided and Alistair because he doesn't recognize/want to admit to his possible feelings for her. They are on the run together for a couple days and with the time together, they do end up exploring their growing feelings. Because of their circumstances, things get a bit rough and feelings get confused, which causes some drama between them. Thankfully, a dangerous situation brings everything to culminate in a way that things work out and Alistair and Bridget end the story starting a HEA together.

This was a pretty enjoyable story. Bridget and Alistair were both good MCs. I got annoyed at them both at times but they were in a difficult situation and it was easy for them to mis-understand feelings and mess things up. I'm just glad they were able to admit their feelings and get to a good place in the end. Overall, the story was pretty good and I'd recommend it. :)

Alistair was the ancient "Diamond Dragon" kidnapped and his dragon's blood was used on the side of evil to create the ugly and powerful wyverns. It is now the awakened dragon's task (Zach, Luc, Red and stoic Dom) to free him with the human, Bridget who brought meals to Alistair daily. As with all the dragons before the diamond dragon there again was another cat by the name of Scrangey who was housed in the caged area with Alistair who gave him redeeming qualities along with the unreadable but loyal Bridget.

Alistair needed to escape and get to his friends whereas Bridget's goal was to find her missing friend Lana. One thing leads to another and they both escaped from the castle with the cat and their friendship turned to more... much more with Alistair's ring given to Bridget as a promising gesture to help her find Lana. This story was a bit different because the oracle released one of the awakened dragon (Dom) with a stronger power to assist in finding his former friend, Alistair.
This was a great twist to the series because this was another love connection in the making with Dom as the amethyst dragon and Lana, the next heroine who hated anything shifter!

Bring it Terry! ---I loved this series

Yesssss

Love, love, love!! Diamond is my favorite dragon so far...my hear broke for him being imprisoned and how confused the modern world was for him. Being such a big tough guy and then needing help to traverse the world until he found the other dragons.

The mating was also crazy. It was an OMG moment.

Four stars and four wet panties.

I’ll never think about rain the same again. Alistair has been imprisoned with nothing but a mangy cat and the woman that brings him his food. Bridget knows nothing of the man that she sees each day, only that her heart races . Bridget is only there to find her friend Lana. She is trapped trying to find out something, anything.

As Alistair and Bridget form an alliance to escape & look for Lana, things quickly start to change. They are on the run, facing the unknown and each other. The other dragons are looking for Alistair. And my they are all pretty dragons, jeweled like the rainbow. It is the other dragons that build the story that ties all of the series together.

The passionate scenes between Alistair and Bridget are definitely on par with the Notebook. Alistair may think he doesn’t know about love and emotions, but his dragon does. A woman can only hope to be romanced in the rain, in the bedroom and with the words that flow from Alistair (when he’s not being a conflicted idiot.)

While this is book 4 in the dragon series it can be read as a stand-alone. After reading, if you haven’t read the other stories, you’ll want to nab them. If you have read them, then you’ll just have to wait and hope the next book is about Lana and soon.

4 Stars

Very few editing, etc. problems and nothing that interfered with the flow of the story in any way.
Biggest problem with any of these is the 'Cheese' factor.
This one is my favorite so far.
They are light, sweet and easy reads. They make you smile, roll your eyes and smile again.
Truthfully, they barely make the 'Adult' genre. But, there is enough to satisfy a reader like me when I am in the mood for a quick, fun read. And these are definitely fun.
They are also great reads for those who want an adult read without it being erotic, dark. The language is also very clean. I don't remember seeing any 'F' bombs, etc.
They are perfect for after you have read a very tense book or are having a 'Book Hangover'.
When you read them you actually feel the stress leaving your body, lol.
They really are just 'FUN' reads and very enjoyable.

I love this book so much!!! Alastair is the diamond dragon and has been held captive in a basement for months, his blood being used to create wyverns. Bridget is a human who is working in the shifter mansion trying to listen for any hint as to where they sent her friend, who has disappeared. Together they escape and are on the run, Alistair needs to find the other awakened dragons to get his collar off but needs Bridget to navigate the human world. After promising to help each other, they form an unlikely partnership that quickly grows to be more. Alistair is used to being selfish and self absorbed, he is confused as to why this human female draws him in the way she does and Bridget isn't used to drawing male attention and isn't sure whether she should trust the attraction she feels between them. It's a bit of a bumpy ride as they both try to come to terms with the feelings they have for one another. I can't wait to be able to read Dom and Lana's story next and I'm waiting patiently for Aegis!!!!!

I knew that I would love Diamond Dragon when I read the ending of Red's (Ruby Dragon) book.

I love how self-aware Alistair was about his overwhelming selfishness. He owned every bit of it. He knew these were negative traits, but he did not care. And when he begins to set it all aside for Bridget, he has to figure out what about her makes him so willing to change.

Bridget was cute, and definitely had a "dragon's heart" (to borrow a term from other books about dragon mates). I liked her determination and loyalty to her friends. At the same time, she had a sweetness about her which was endearing.

Alistair and Bridget make a wonderful pair. LOVE IT and their interaction together!!!

This book is a standalone story but I recommend reading the previous books to fully appreciate the other dragons and their mates.

1 - 2 * - I kind of liked the dragon. Ok, the charm is definitely falling short now. I really, really started to dislike Bridget at the end and started to think of her as TSTL. OMG, girl is having a snit because receiving the dragon's ring makes them forever mates while she was the one who demanded to wear the ring in exchange for helping him escape his dark, dank cell where he was kept and she was bringing him meals. Not to mention staying at a place where rape is imminent to try to find her friend yet she is making 0% progress. I'm done. There are other books to enjoy in unlimited. And really, this book has gotten that many 5 star reviews?

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

Alistair, the Diamond Dragon, was imprisoned. Not only by the collar that shackled his dragon powers, but also within these castle walls, in this dungeon, in this iron-barred cell. The only moments outside of his cell were when he was taken to the scientists to draw more of his blood. Dragon blood was powerful, and he had a good idea of at least one purpose they were using it for. The rest of the time he was left alone with his thoughts, the mangy cat he’d befriended and Bridget, the human who brought him his food allotment every day. While he could read some thoughts, Bridget had kept her silence as much as a human could. Yet, they’d worked on a somewhat friendly encounter – after all it wasn’t she who had him imprisoned. She had come here searching for her missing friend, Lana, and ended up doing the menial things around the place… things to lowly for the other shifters around. They might have continued on the same way every day except for one over zealous wolf shifter with his eye on the human for sport. While Alistair would be the first to admit that all his life he’d been rather selfish and self-contained – seeing Bridget attacked loosened something within him and on him as his collar weakened enough to allow his dragon powers to emerge to fight the wolf – and to escape with Bridget and a cat named Scrangey.

Moments after their escape Bridget hesitated in leaving with Alistair. He’d promised to help her find Lana, but she trusted no one. She’d demanded proof of his promise, she’d demanded his diamond ring not knowing what the ring meant to Alistair. He handed it over and they set out on their flight to freedom and in search of Lana… not knowing the true meaning behind a human wearing the ring of a gem dragon.

They will face dangers together, slowly allow the attraction to grow into something, and perhaps begin to love each other – even if that particular word wasn’t used. Alistair has never felt this way about a woman before. Never. Her safety, her happiness, even her reactions to other males means more to him than he ever expected and it totally confused him. He was one clueless dragon when it came to emotions. One day soon, his inability to more clearly define what he’s feeling for Bridget will come back to bit him on the rear – when he almost loses his mate by his own foolish words.

The danger is ramping up in Diamond Dragon, the fighting more fierce and the stakes are becoming higher. Dom, the Amethyst Dragon has been awakened but not collared in order to help in the fight to protect humans at any cost. Dom’s help will be essential in finding not only Alistair but Lana as well.

I completely enjoyed my time in Diamond Dragon. Alistair is so freakin’ clueless as to how his inability to say the words is affecting Bridget. And Bridget’s low opinion of herself isn’t allowing her to read between the lines of what he is saying. They might be mates but they needed a stern talking to at some points. We didn’t see the Emerald Dragon this time around, although he was briefly mentioned. But all the dragons and their mates are also in this story, and it’s always enjoyable to catch up and see what’s happening with them now. The danger is increasing, and the groundwork for the next book, the Amethyst Dragon has been laid – now, it’s time to go read it.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Alistair, the diamond dragon, is being held prisoner in a castle and being used for his blood. He's been trying to get Bridget, the woman who brings his food, to help him escape but she's resisting him. Though she keeps her mind a blank, Bridget is pleased to see that Alistair's feeding a cat he calls Scrangey who's also in the dungeon. But one day Bridget's attacked in the dungeon and Alistair's powers surface as he stops the wolf shifter. Alistair is now out of his cage so he takes Bridget and Scrangey and they escape into the night trying to find the other awakened dragons.

Love This Series

Actually, when I first started reading this series it really wasn't my cup of tea. Until I sat down and began reading. Now I'm so hooked I want to read every book about dragon shifters you can through at me. Thanks for that truly. Trying to go as slow as possible because after the next one this series ends. But as an author myself you eventually have to end the story unfortunately!! Looking forward to reading more.

This is book #4 of the Awakened Dragon series. Alistair has been held hostage since he awakened. He only gets to come out of his cage when they need his blood. Bridget has to give him his food and he watches her. She gets attacked by the wolf leader and Alistair breaks out of his cage and saves her. They are on the run while he starts to realize that their is more to their relationship than just getting free. I like it.

I really enjoyed this story! I liked how Al was just thrown into things without having any knowledge of how mating worked or the collar. Yet he just rolled with whatever was thrown his way and he made the best of the situation. I also liked Bridget. She was strong, loyal, determined, smart, courageous, and sweet. I am now intrigued about Amethyst and can't wait to delve into his story!

I thoroughly enjoyed diamond Dragon. I like Bridget and Alastair I made a great couple even though they didn’t know about that that mating thing. I really like that these dragons like cats. I liked all the other dragons but I still would like emerald to be collared and it was a shock thatAmethyst dragon wasn’t.

Diamond and Bridget

Alistair (aka Diamond) was the type that most of us (women) couldn't stand. He's arrogant, and selfish, self centered. But he meet his match in Bridget. It was amazing to see him struggling with his feelings. But it all worked out in the end. I really loved this story too. I'm glad I don't have to choose between them. And now, on to Amethyst. 😃😍😃

Fun read

Diamonds are a girls best friend, or so I have heard. Having never had one, I wouldn't know. As for Alistair, our diamond dragon, he is definitely full of himself. A bit dense too. Fun read. Happy dreams.
