The US Government has avoided using supernaturals in the past, concerned that public knowledge of their existence will pose greater risks than any benefits. But, after Missy agrees to help her Paranormal Branch buddies and one thing leads to another ... the question then becomes whether Missy can somehow provide assistance during an international crisis, without the world learning about her supernatural powers and abilities.
Meanwhile, when Missy interferes with the sexual harassment at West Point by going around and putting everyone there on notice, she becomes the target. Controlling herself ... doing things in plain sight which almost look humanly possible ... that just might be her greatest ability.
P. G. Allison has always loved stories about female characters with special powers (Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Bionic Woman, Batgirl) along with stories about witches and werewolves. The Missy the Werecat Series is about a girl growing up with no pack, no pride of other werecats and no Alpha; Missy is a girl with fantastic abilities doing great things in today's world, amongst humans. Other books in this paranormal, new adult, urban fantasy series have Missy going on to West Point and eventually serving in the Special Forces.
Missy's story just keeps getting better and better. The author knows how to pull you into the story and keep you interested. Description, details, tactics, imagery - this author knows how to do it all.
Missy has learned how to use and control her abilities and become's an invaluable asset to her friends at West Point as well as the US Government. Missy knows how to deal with situations - she doesn't need to hurt people as much as she needs to teach them a lesson and make sure they get the justice they deserve - Missy is very good at this!
Assisting the military Missy proves that she is a valuable asset and helps to bring down enemy forces as part of a unit. Missy has never been one to look for credit, that is one of the things I love about her.
This is a great series! I highly recommend this book as well as the rest of the books in the series. I am hoping to see much more of Missy the Werecat!! I loved these stories.
The writing is still pretty deadpan but the story is much better this time. Missy really shines in the military. Her West Point exploits and time in Afghanistan made for a lot of fun. The explicit portions are frankly boring and skip worthy but all in all I enjoyed the book. I will probably continue the series if the rest comes to Audible.
I loved the character of Missy and how she accepted what she is. Supernatural and just an ordinary girl fighting for what is right. I enjoyed reading her many adventures and how she helped everyone. Missy is truly unique............
OK - I am a sucker for a story with a strong female lead and Missy is that in spades. The first three books have covered her development both supernaturally and as a soldier and I enjoyed her solving various problems along the way.
What I did not enjoy (and skipped through) were the totally unnecessary detailed sex scenes. It's obvious the author enjoys writing this stuff and I had hoped that it would be toned down by book three. I do understand that sex is a big part of Missy's nature and her bonding with Mike is essential to the narrative, but do we really have to read all the explicit details? Some of the political stuff was a bit boring too, and I skipped several pages of that.
What I feel is that there is a great story here, padded out with a lot of fluff. I know that this is quite a long series and I really think that a good editor would have cut so much out that there wouldn't be so many books, but, in my opinion at least, the quality would be much improved.
Edit:
My other problem is the repetition. Always a difficult balance for an author writing a series, but I at least, really don't need a total recap of all the major events in the previous book(s). Some authors manage by writing an intro chapter, which the reader can choose to read or skip, others assume you read the series from book one and leave people to catch up if they want to. The alternative of adding essential information but leaving out the detail is probably better for most readers.
I enjoyed reading this third installment of Missy's story as much as the first two books. Mz. Allison's writing paints the scenery of her story, both physical and emotional, in such detail that I easily see, hear, feel, and even smell and taste the action in my imagination.
I recommend this book, and the first two in the series, to those who like strong female lead characters, those who like military fiction, those who like stories with a strong theme of justice delivered, and, naturally, those who like stories of magic and supernatural creatures living their hidden (or not so) lives in a modern, and largely, unbelieving world.
Mz. Allison does a good job of recapping events from the first two books, so this novel can be enjoyed without reading the first two books in the series, but why deny yourself the pleasure of reading Missy's story from the beginning? Recaps are never as delicious as the story they condense, so I strongly recommend reading the series in the order they are written.
This is the third book about Missy that I've read - they are great stories. However, they aren't for me. I get tired of the explicit sex scenes - there are several in every book and they don't add to the plot in any way.
If you don't mind the sex scenes, the story line is a lot of fun and I'm going to miss reading about Missy's adventures.
I would rate this book R for the explicit sex mostly. There is some language and, being a book about war, there is violence and death.

This is the third in the series and I'm still interested to know what happens next. The story is interesting, although the sex scenes are a bit repetitive. The plot was good and mostly not obvious, and the action was interesting and in character. I've now bought three books and I have the feeling that I'm going to have to open my piggy bank for the next one soon. There have been very few books that I have rated as 5 stars. This is a solid read and kept my interest which is usually as good as it gets.
I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible)
I feel there's three seperate battlefields in this book: 1:The halls of West Point, where some of the students are as deadly as any enemy of war. 2:The first run through by Missy of the underground fortress where the German prisoners were held. 3: The return to Afghanistan by Missy as a private in a elite force, tasked of surveillance of the tunnel fortress, followed with the assault to free this area from the Taliban.
The original first book in this series was good and memorable. I am underwhelmed by the new version. The second book was enjoyable. With this one, Allison hits her stride as a writer. It was difficult to put down when I had to go do something else, and I hurried back to the book. I recommend it without reservation to anyone who likes to read about kick-ass heroines.
The characters were fleshed out more, and having her go through what others over the years have gone through, she discovered what it's like to be. In a combat situation? And what happens to the men that you fight with? And what you will do to protect them without thinking about it. Admittedly, it is still fiction, but the author seems to have done her research kudos to her. Excellent story
Fantastical, fun. This series is out there, but it's hella fun. There is not a lot I can say without leaving spoilers which I seldom do as I can't stand them. The narrative brings the story to life. This audio book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author or narrator and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
But, there are a couple of things you got wrong. I went through Airborne training in 1960 ,it's not that hard, but folks do drop out of it. This is a decent adventure story, so when you read it, suspend your knowledge and just enjoy it. It's when there are too many times you have to do that, that a story is too hard to read.
The most notable thing about these books is the attention to the editing. I have been captivated by progression that each individual story reveals another maturity about Missy hidden ability. I was pleasantly entertained by the depth of information that was included in this particular story topic pertaining to the combat area! Great Story P.G. keep'em coming❗ 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟❗
I really enjoyed Missy's first mission, and found it really interesting to read about Afghanistan and a woman in combat. This book series is really fun with a really positive message on multiple levels.
Go romping with Missy as she enjoys her next year at West Pointe ...earning a purple Heart and other awards for her efforts to destroy a base she's found in a previous interaction there. A fun read but definitely not great literature. A fun time found for sure though.
I truly enjoyed this book. Missy is in the service. She is also having a huge impact at West Point. I love how this author is able to bring all the feels to life. I am on to book four.
Missy's back shaking things up at West Point, having her "P" branch buddies at her side. When the country decides to use Missy as part of a mission, she blows everyone's mind.
I suppose sex sells but author seems to rely heavily upon it when she has a fairly decent story without it. I realize it’s fantasy but Afghanistan doesn’t have pumas so she would stand out as an oddity.
Mrs Allison McCrea is getting better and better. I'm just imagining how much she 'll do in next book. I'm anxious to read it. I rec this series so far.
