From the USA Today Bestselling Bayou Heat Series, comes an all new sexy, romantic suspense saga…
The Pantera Security League 6 Shifters, representing all Factions, working deep undercover. They prowl through the gray area between good and evil, willing to do whatever was necessary to protect their pack.
His mission was to find and retrieve the female kept as a sex slave by their enemy’s henchman…
Cerviel is trained not to feel and not to get attached. But when he sees the female naked and bruised inside the cage, every instinct he’s forced down, surges to the surface. Like him, the female is broken and alone in the world. But if he gives in to his raw, possessive nature, his cover will be blown, and with it everyone he protects.
Now that he’s found her, he can’t let her go…
Five years ago, Hallie was taken from her family, both parents murdered before her eyes. Long ago, she had been given Pantera blood, and her power was undeniable – especially to the ones who want to use her. Free now, she must go to the Wildlands, a place she knows nothing about for a mystery no one will reveal. Can she put her trust in the male who rescued her? Because he already had her heart.
I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.
This is exactly what you expect if you have read the Bayou Heat series. Formula = insta mate/love. So fast your head will spin. But these are fun short stories that I enjoy. The only issue I had with this one is that a sex slave is just not going to be insta anything the DAY she is released!
I have loved the Bayou Heat series from the start. Each novella giving us two hot Pantera males to swoon over. Even if you have not read the series, you are going to love what happens when Laura and Alexandra put their creative juices together in one complete story. This is being called a spin off, but the issues for the Pantera remain the same. Someone is using and experimenting with the Pantera blood.
What readers did not know until now, is that the Pantera have a secret Special Ops group living off the grid. This group of 6 will do whatever it takes to get the necessary information to bring down the group targeting their kind. This series will bring a fair amount of suspense. More so than the Bayou Heat, I think.
The first operative we meet is Cerviel. Not his usually gig to go in and rescue but his boss thinks it’s in his best interest to send Cerviel. Like a good soldier, Cerviel plans and delivers. What he doesn’t expect is the sweet Hallie to be the one he rescues. Even more surprising, his panther wants to claim her. It goes against every vow he has taken. He is to live like a ghost—no footprint, definitely no mate. Hallie has been through h*ll yet she still finds in her heart a way to break down Cerviel’s defenses.
Such a great start to the series! I enjoy each author’s writing style but what they have created together is awesomeness! Looking forward to more!
One Down is the newest chapter in the Bayou Heat series. It's another super awesome story that begins an intriguing and mysterious direction for this already outstanding paranormal series.
The Pantera Security League is a secretive sect of the Pantera world. They are like ghosts an their job is to do whatever it takes to keep the worl safe for every Pantera. Cerviel's mission was clear, either recue or silence a new threat to his people. Instead, he found Hallie was his mate and for the first time found himself wanting to be more than a ghost.
This story was amazing ! Cerviel was a real hot bad ass. He unapologetically broke all of the rules for Hallie. The writing was excellent as this new thread was woven seamlessly into the Bayou Heat series. I love it !
If you like the Pantera series then you're going to love this spin off. I'm completely intrigued by these six shifters because they have given up so much to be the ones that put their lives on the line. Cerviel's latest assignment is going to test everything in him that makes him part of the PSL. What Hallie has suffered at the hands of the enemy makes me want to take them out myself. Luckily for me Cerviel has enough rage to seek justice for the both us. Cerviel never counted on meeting someone like Hallie because she's going to test him and make him feel things he thought he'd never feel. A huge decision looms for Cerviel because his job with PSL may just be in jeopardy. I definitely can't wait for more from the PSL.
This as always with the Pantera series' was great...unlike the Bayou Heat series this one doesn't have two different stories per book, so this story is weaved together by both authors where as each one wrote a story in the Bayou Heat series. With that said I was right when I said before that these two authors writing flows so well together that you can't tell one author from the other. Granted this was an insta-love story but for me due to the Animal nature of the characters makes it more believable.
I'm interested to see how this series intertwines with the already established Bayou Heat series...so far it's off to an amazing start.
I am a huge fan of the bayou heat series. though this story was extremely similar to the others before it, it did have its differences. a great branch off the main story. can't wait for the next story.

This book did not disappoint! It kept up with the story line of Bayou Heat just added a sexy special ops team. Cerviel is a very sexy man, he is the kind of protected any woman would want. ha,lie is a very strong woman for what she has been through and kudos for this character I really enjoyed reading about her and Cerviel.
Actually 2.5 Stars. Short. This is a side series about 6 pumas, warriors(?) that work for the Pantera Security League doing undercover work apart from Bayou Heat regulars (?). This one is the first, it was good, but like in all (well most) new series (maybe?) not much depth, just setting up for future books. I will continue because I love this world and know that it will get better, (hoping) :)
A Quick Bite of Danger and Rescue Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Heat Level: 🔥🔥 📚E-BOOK📚&🎧AUDIO🎧
I came across One Down while scouring my Audible library for an author starting with "I" for a book challenge. This novella-length story, co-written by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright, kicks off the *Pantera Security League* series, blending dark intrigue with a dash of romance.
The story centers on Cerviel, a hardened alpha tasked with rescuing Hallie from captivity. As a member of the Pantera Security League—a group that operates in morally gray areas to protect their people—Cerviel is committed to his mission. Hallie, on the other hand, is a survivor, forced to overcome immense trauma after being imprisoned for years.
The concept of the Pantera and their clandestine operations intrigued me, and I enjoyed the story's darker elements. Cerviel's protective instincts and Hallie's resilience were engaging, though the novella's brevity left me wanting more depth to their connection.
For a quick listen, Emily Beresford's narration was effective but didn't elevate the material significantly. Overall, *One Down* served its purpose for my challenge and offered an interesting glimpse into the Pantera world. However, it felt more like an appetizer than a full meal—good for a short read, but not particularly memorable.
If you're in the mood for a dark and fast-paced shifter romance, this might hit the spot.
I've been reading about the Pantera in the Bayou Heat series and this is a spin off. I really liked it. It can stand alone but you know there are 6 male Pantera in the Security League so you want their stories. Cerviel has been called in from his under cover assignment to retrieve/rescue a prisoner held in Wyoming at Benson Enterprise facility. Christopher Benson is the evil trying to control and experiment on the Pantera. The experiments are brutal and horrific. He rescues Hallie and she is different for several reasons. She doesn't have any memory of her life before being captured and taken prisoner. Pretty good book to start a series with. Some mystery and romance.
First of a new Pantera spinoff. Same feel as the main series, but this is based on The Six: ghost warriors who have given up their family and past to work undercover for the good of their race.
First off it was too short. I wanted the story to last longer.
This one is about Cerviel who is sent to check out a secret facility Benson had ordered to be destroyed. While there he rescues an experimental female Pantera named Hallie who’s been abused and treated like an animal.
Fave scenes: sneaking into the hunting lodge, Zagan’s text and Hallie’s first change.
Enjoyed this spin-off series to Bayou Heat. Added depth to the existing series storyline and of course some new characters. Can not wait to see where this adventure leads.
Love the Pantera, Cerviel is on a mission. But his mission turns out to be Hallie. Can the escape with there lives? Where then will they go? This author can write anything and make you enjoy reading it!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading Hallie & Cerviel's story very much. I love reading a happy ever after story it makes me feel better after a very hard day. Thank you for writing this story.
I was hoping for some progress of the overall plot but there's just a small thing about transfusion done to a child that transformed her into a pantera. So frustrating to just have insta-love insta-mating instead.
This short novella shows the actraction and the crazy people early in the story. Hell, I wanted to kick her captors in the shin my own self. I'm glad she was rescued. Now the question remains: What was that idiot going to tell before he was executed.
This new series has violence, destruction, angst and the usual heat in a Bayou Heat story. This is the start of another entertaining series. Enjoy I did.
Love this little novella. The is the security team that are consider ghost for the panera shifters. I wish Cerviel and Hallie's story was a bit longer, but overall it was a good story.
"One Down: Bayou Heat" by Alexandra Ivy and Laura Wright. Book 1 in the Pantera Security League 6 series.
A spin-off series taking place within the Bayou Heat world. It's a jointly written, single story by both authors. I really liked this story. The only complaint I would have is that I wished it was longer! The transitions between the authors is seamless, you can't tell where one author starts writing from the other. This book is a novella in length (just over 125 pages according to my KOBO).
The premise of this series is that there are 6 special Pantera that are part of the Pantera Security League. They've had to sacrifice a lot to be in the league and are essentially ghosts that live just outside the Wildlands and their mission is to do the 'questionable' things that the leader of the Pantera needs them to do. If you've never read the Bayou Heat series, you can easily start with this book. Enough information is given so the reader knows what is going on in the Pantera world.
The story starts very quickly and has a very fast pace due to the short length of the story. The main characters are Cerviel and Hallie. The story line is pretty basic. Cerviel is part of the PSL and his mission is to save Hallie who is a prisoner of Benson Enterprises. There is a kill order on Hallie and Cerviel must save her before that happens. There's something special about Hallie and the Pantera have to know what it is. The information she may have could help the Pantera in their war against Benson Enterprises.
The romance between Cerviel and Hallie is so heartwarming. Hallie is a very strong woman, overcoming the torture she's been through. Hallie gets over her torture very quickly in this story and I had to remind myself that this is a novella and the story has to move quickly. Hallie takes charge of her life right away and Cerviel sees her strength and can't help but be attracted to that quality. The chemistry between them is spot on and very hot. There are some questions left open at the end of this book, keeping the reader wanting more and wanting to read the next book to find out why Hallie (and other prisoners) are special.
I really enjoyed this new spin-off and will definitely be reading all 6 in the series as they come out.
This is a really nice little story set slightly separate to the main story line.
Cerviel is sent to rescue a female from the clutches of the Pantera's biggest enemy.
Hallie has been abducted and kept in the most terrible of conditions, she's been abused in every way imaginable and she she's still fighting to get free. She's a great character, knows her own mind, understands that shes different, just unsure as to why. Along comes Cerviel to the rescue!
Cerviel's just what we come to expect from a Pantera male. He's all alpha, sweeps in to rescue Hallie and kicks arse at the same time. I loved how assertive they both were together, I liked that Hallie knows exactly what she wants and doesn't let her terrible experiences cloud that.
It's a great addition to this ongoing story. I always love Laura's writing, there a slightly different feel to this novella but I think that's just because it's co-written with Alexandra Ivy instead of them taking turns with each tale. I'm looking forward to the rest of the stories.

Intriguing offshoot to the Batou Heat Pantera series, this story will hook you right away and keep you reading all night! It is perfectly put together and full of romance and hotness. Cerviel is part of "The Six" a ghost group of Pantera that live outside of the Wildlands and infiltrate the human world in order to help the Pantera. Sent on a mission to rescue a captured female, Cerviel's life will take a very different route than usual as he fascinated by this strong female who has been forced into being a sex slave. Hallie has dreamed for years of being a panther and living with others like her, but she always wakes to the same concrete and steel cage, and cruel captors who force her to do unspeakable things. But when handsome Cerviel comes to her rescue, she realizes that she is now free from harm and cruelty. With the help of the Pantera she will discover her past, and why she is so important. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If you enjoy the Bayou Heat series then this is definitely the series for you.
One Down introduces us to the 6, 6 Pantera who have chosen to leave their lives behind and live as Ghosts outside the Wildlands that their brethren call home. Living undercover amongst the humans they have dedicated themselves to doing whatever they have too in order to protect their kind.
I thoroughly enjoyed this first book, unlike the Bayou Heat novels the authors have worked together on the one story rather than giving us two separate novellas in their complementing writing styles. In this instance I feel it has added to the story, it felt slightly darker, more edgy and even hotter than the standard Bayou Heat novels. I am looking forward to getting to know the rest of the 6.

This was disappointing. There was not much plot and inconsistencies in terms of both story points and Bayou Heat universe. This did feel like two people writing one story--I can't speak to writing style since I was listening to it with a text to speech reader, but there was a different flow to some of the scenes. The big inconsistencies for me was: There was also a weird, random text conversation with another character that added nothing to the story that I could tell. I also didn't like the way Raphael was characterized here--the whole rule about PSL agents taking a vow to not mate felt like an arbitrary pseudo-obstacle just thrown in to create artificial drama. The culture of the Pantera as it's been established in the previous books, especially the way Raphael had to fight for his own mate, just doesn't fit with the idea that Raphael would make a Pantera walk away from his mate the way he's written here. The last few Bayou Heat books haven't been as good in my opinion anyway and this is just the last nail in the coffin for me, I won't be reading any more of this series and couldn't recommend it to anyone else.
The writing style of Laura Wright and Alexandra Ivy continues to amaze me. They are so in sync that their writing style is seamless. Their new collaboration is a spinoff of the successful Bayou Heat series, titled One Down. One Down is the first book in a new series of the Panteras called the PSL (Pantera Security League) or their version of special ops. The PSL consist of six members of the Pantera Diplomatic faction who have agreed to go off grid and handle tasks/missions that cannot be handled through the normal channels. Benson Enterprises have been performing tests on captured Panteras or infusing Pantera blood into humans. After intercepting a message, Raphael, has given one of the members, Cerviel, the mission of retrieving the test subject. The test subject is Hallie, who has been brutalized over several months and the cryptic message indicates that she will be killed. When Cerviel rescues her, he knows that she is a fighter and calls to his puma heart. There are obstacles of course to overcome, such as Cerviel for all intent is a “ghost” believed dead by the Panteras and Hallie who can’t remember her past and what it means to have Pantera blood flow through her veins. This is just the beginning of a fantastic new series and as always Laura and Alexandra captures your attention from the first page. I can’t wait to read the remaining PSL stories.
