Cole Brothers #2

Teach Me Like That

Rate this book
Thirty-three, single, and loving life.

Construction worker by day and playboy by night. Kegan Cole has what many men can only dream about. A great job, incredible family, and more women fawning over him than he can count. What more could he ask for?

Lexi Carter spends her days teaching at a private school. Struggling to rebuild her life after tragedy nearly destroyed her, she doesn’t have the time or energy to invest in any arrangement that could lead to heartbreak. That includes the enigmatic Kegan Cole whose arrogance and sex appeal arrive long before he enters a room.

It doesn’t matter how witty, charming, and incredibly sexy he is. She plays games all day with her students and has no room in her life for games when it comes to men, and Kegan Cole has ‘love them and leave them’ written all over his handsome bearded face.

When Lexi doesn’t fall at his feet like every other woman before her, Kegan is forced off-script to pursue her because not convincing her to give in isn’t an option.

How can a man who hates lies be compatible with a woman who has more secrets than she can count?

Can a man set in his playboy ways become the man Lexi needs? More importantly, does he even want to?

This is a full-length novel that has adult language and descriptive sex scenes. It is NOT a student/teacher book. Both main characters are consenting adults.

description

Having read book one in this series, Love Me Like That, I had gotten an idea of what Kegan Cole was about, and that made me very excited to read his story.

This story kicks off a few years after the first. Kegan is enjoying the single life and avoiding commitment and any attachments other than those to his family. Those family commitments are what introduce him to Lexi Carter. Lexi is the teacher of Kegan's nieces. From the moment they meet, the chemistry is all consuming and Kegan wants nothing more than to spend a night with the beautiful teacher. One night is all it's supposed to be, but when it's over, neither of them can get the other out of their heads. Can a woman with so much hurt and sorrow in her past and a carefree playboy every find a middle ground to make a real go of things or will the ghosts and mistakes from their pasts ruin any chance at a future?

I really liked Kegan. He was playful with a smart mouth that often got him into trouble but made for good reading. He was one of those great leading men that once he started having feelings for the leading lady, no other woman could turn his head and he was completely devoted even if he wasn't ready to admit to his feelings yet. Lexi had quite a past and the heartache that she had experienced made me feel for her. I loved feeling like once Kegan came into her life, he affected her in a positive way.

This story for me wasn't quite the deeply and emotionally impacting story from book one. This was lighter but still enjoyable in its own way. I would definitely recommend this story and will not hesitate to pick up the next book by Marie James as she writes unique, relatable characters that sometimes make you feel and break your heart as you fall in love with them. But sometimes they make you laugh and bring you joy during that fall.

and where one goes...two shall follow.  Of course I read 1 just in time to read book after it was released.  Honestly I can't decide if I loved Lexi and Kegan more than Kadin and London- but so happy book 2 has plenty of both.  Kegan is Kadin's younger brother and gets roped into helping out with his nieces who he refers to as demon spawn.  These 2 cuties rule the roost when their uncle is in charge.  It is pretty funny and well written what these 2 girls come up with.  Lexi is the girls teacher and she is trying her best not to fall for Kegan the playboy.  Kegan denies he will every fall in love but when love smacks you in the face...you fall.  I loved their story, lots of good stuff to keep me hooked.

Kegan is a manwhore doesn't do love or commitment. While dropping his nieces to school he meets Lexi total opposite of what he usually goes for but there is just something about her. Lexi is a school teacher and yes thinks Kegan is hot but doesn't want to be a one night stand. Will Kegan open his eyes and tare down his walls for Lexi? Will Lexi be able to open her heart and trust Kegan? Lots of drama and love in this book and glimpse of the character's in the first book. Yes you could read it as a stand alone but you will understand more if you read Love Me Like That first! Great book and perfect end to the series! 5/5 stars Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Reads - ARC provided for a honest review ****

5* read.
Marie James is an author I came across just recently and fell in love with her books. This was another great addition.
Kegan and Lexi were both hilarious and sweet and I loved the interactions between both of them. The best parts for me was Kegan's relationship with his nieces, he was literally terrified of them and they could sense that.
Kegan at first is your typical playboy but seeing him develop through the book and grow as a person. Lexi was both sweet and strong and the perfect match for Kegan.
I can't wait for more from this author.

“Let the wall down, Lexi.”
“You first.”
“Oh, sweetheart. You knocked that fucker down weeks ago.”

TEACH ME LIKE THAT was a lot more lighthearted than the first book in this series, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t instances where tears were a possibility. Tears of sadness for Lexi’s past and tears of frustration for Kegan’s unwillingness to let go of his manwhore ways.

I liked Lexi, who meets Kegan when he drops off his two nieces at school one morning. Their chemistry is palpable and I commend Lexi for keeping Kegan at arm’s length as long as she did. But given her past, along with the possibility of losing her job because of him, that’s not at all surprising. I liked that she didn’t turn into a quivering mess when Kegan treated her like crap, but instead turned his behaviour back on him, which had him coming back for more.

There were times I loved Kegan, and there were times I wanted to reach into my Kindle and slap him. He has no filter and will speak before he thinks, and most of the time that was funny and a little bit adorable. But when he said “Thanks doll” to Lexi, I think I had steam coming out of my ears. He’s cocky and arrogant, expecting every woman to fall at his feet because that’s all they’ve done his whole life. He’s never had to work for a woman before, and Lexi makes him work. Not by stringing him along or by playing hard-to-get, but by not taking his crap. But he’s a nice guy that just needed to grow up and start acting like an adult. His dirty talk also worked in his favour.

“I’m going to take you to our bed and make love to you all night. And by make love, I mean I’m going to fuck you hard and dirty, just how you like it.”

TEACH ME LIKE THAT is told in dual POVs and while it’s part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone. The copy I read is an ARC and it did have a few errors here and there that I’m hoping will be fixed by the time the book goes live. The story comes with a HEA and an epilogue that’s set three years into the future. I don’t know whether there will be any more books in this series given that both brothers have found their partners. That being said, some focus was given to Lexi’s best friend as well as her cousin, so maybe they’ll get their own books in the future.

I know I may sound repetitive because in some of my reviews I say this, but I believe that is the purest of truths. I could barely fit the happiness that I felt when I got this book to read.
Marie James is one of my favorite authors and each book I read makes me extremely happy and excited.
As I had stated earlier, Marie James writing is simple, intense and with much attention to detail and the feeling that she can evoke in us is overwhelming.
"Teach Me Like That" tells the stories of Lexi and Kegan and the entire book is toggled between their points of views.
Kegan is the eternal womanizer, loves to enjoy life each day with a different woman. He loves a night with no-strings-attached. For what possible reason should he be with just one woman when there are so many free women out there. He has a great relationship with his parents and idolizes his older brother.
Lexi is a kindergarten teacher who loves what she does. Suffered a lot in the past and so she has her heart kept under lock and key. Don't want commitments, she just wants to live her life doing what she loves and be happy.
When they know each other, something in them changes but is that just an attraction? Or is it something more?
Can two lost souls be reunited? Are you able to love unconditionally again? Will they find their happily ever after?
This book is very intense and can appeal to our sentimental side. Of course, things don't always run well because the unexpected is just around the corner but we have to face the problems head-on with his head held high.
The love, the passion are present as well as the treachery and evil.
Can I tell you a secret? I know I can so here it goes: The hot scenes are very explosive, intense and adventurous, and you will love them as much as I did.
Marie James I already told you this but I will scream to the seven winds because I want everyone to know that you are one of my favorite authors, your books make me dream and entertain the hell out of me, even though I sometimes get very upset with the way the stories sometimes take.
I want to thank you for the opportunity to read your work.

4.5 Stars!!
Teach Me Like That is the second book in the Love Me Like That series. They are standalone stories but with interconnecting characters and there are definite spoilers to Love Me Like a That, the first book in this series which features Kadin the brother to our hero, Kegan.
Kegan is enthralled and it is lust at first sight when he brings his nieces to school and meets their teacher, Lexi Carter.

"I cut my eyes toward the sorceress, prepared to ask for her spell book and stop in my tracks. Piercing green eyes, surrounded by more dark hair than you’d see in an expensive shampoo commercial, look over at me as the door slams behind me. I’m so enchanted by her attention toward me that I released my hold on the door. The sound rings through the quiet classroom and echoes off the walls, breaking the trance she’s holding me under. I blink several times, unsure if I lost seconds or entire days."

Kegan has always been a bit of a manwhore, able to just snap his fingers and the women flock to him. He is put off his game when good-girl, Lexi tries to resist his charm.
This book was lighter on the angst than the previous one, but still had plenty of feels and lots of heart- racing moments. It was a great blend of sweet and heat.

"Her eyes are expectant, loving, and full of hope. For the first time in my life, I find myself wanting to be everything a woman hopes I can be."

Marie James has become a definite one-click, must- read author for me!

Teach Me Like That had me hooked from page one! Marie James has done it again! She left me wanting to be apart of the world she created with Kegan and Lexi. What I would do for a night or more with Kegan! He is definitely being added to the book boyfriend list!!!

Kegan is the sexy playboy who says he doesn't believe in love and hops from one lady to the next until he meets Lexi.

Lexi is Kegan neices teacher and is quiet and also not looking for love. She has been hurt in the past and doesn't want to let anyone else "in" again.

When Kegan and Lexi meet the attraction is undeniable but with one being a cocky @ss and the other kinda playing hard to get can they leave their pasts behind to make a future for themselves.

Teach Me Like That had me laughing at Kegan corny jokes throughout the book. Marie James character development was spot on. You could so feel the emotions each of the characters had throughout the book. I loved every minute of this book and was very sad when it was over.

Can't wait for more from Marie James!!!

Lexi's a good girl, the girl next door. She's a teacher at a private school who tries hard to please everyone. She works for a twisted sleaze whom shall not be named who lives to make her miserable.

Kegan is all kinds of sexy. He runs the family construction company and refuses to settle down.
He's happy having a string of one nighter's with no expectations and where everyone walks away happy.
When he has to help his brother out with his kids by taking them to school he's immediately drawn to their sweet little teacher. He hits on her she flat out turns him down.
A woman saying no is pretty unusual for him, now he's more intrigued.

Lexi may be attracted to Kegan but the school has a no fraternization policy, she can't afford to lose her job over a man so she tries her best to ignore him. Until she can't.
With everything she's worked for at risk is Kegan worth it?

I loved Kegan, even though he's basically a manwhore you can't help but love him. An Lexi, that poor girl really needed to punch her boss in the face, drop her fake ass right where she stood (I'm pretty sure she'd have felt better) but in the end she got hers. Teach Me Like That is well written and kept me engaged from the beginning to end. 4.5 stars

Teach Me Like That is sometimes sexy, sometimes funny and a whole lot of drama.

Keagan is the younger, wilder brother of Kadin, who we met in book 1, Love Me Like That. Kadin and London are back again and this is set several years later. Kadin and London now have school-aged kids. One day, Kadin calls Keagan for help getting his girls to school and there he meets Jade, the girls' teacher.

Keagan is a player with no desire to settle down. He works for the family construction company and loves the bachelor life. He is funny and sexy and secretly sweet.

Jade is a straight-laced school teacher, the girl next door type who lives her life on the straight and narrow, but has secrets.

These two are so great! The story is good with a few twists and a lot of steamy goodness.

I have to comment about the cover. If you read my review of book 1, you know I didn't really care for the cover. I, again, have an issue with the cover, because-hello-it's the same cover model, but the male MC is a different character! Just my issue, but I had to say it.

A good romance with lots to offer!

Let me introduce to Kadin's younger, more handsome brother Kegan.

Kegan is funny. He is sexy as hell!! He is loyal to his family.
But is scared of his 5 and 6 yo neices who are hilarious and little devils.

Yet he is totally clueless when it comes to matter of the heart.

Lexi is just good juju. She is warm caring and lovable. (Even if she is scared)

This was such a heart warming story I want to give 6 stars! I actually laughed out loud throughout the book.

(4.5 stars)

Ok, so this is the second in what I am seriously hoping is a series... cuz I can see 2 more books in this!

Keegan is Kadin's brother, in this installment we get them a few years down the road, when Kadin and London have kids, kids in which they need Keegan's help in watching. Keegan, who really has no clue what to do with children, and is a serious player in the game of ladies, takes them to school and meets their teacher, Lexi.

Lexi tries to live the straight and narrow, keeping her life as safe as possible. Lexi, is not a stranger to outside forces creating problems. So when Keegan comes into her classroom and proceeds to hit on her, she, of course, turns him away.

But fate is constantly throwing them together, and maybe Lexi needs to just let go. With returning characters that I for one can't wait to see again, drama, hot sexy times I give this 4.5 stars.

I absolutely adored Kegan! He reluctantly takes his niece to school and meets the teacher of his dreams. Now he just has to convince Lexi to take a chance on him! Loved to hate on the principal! Great read! 5 stars❤️

Loved Kegan and Lexi! A construction worker and a kindergarten teacher are a perfect mix! Add in a jealous headmistress and we have some drama! Plus the added pleasure of Kadin's two little girls and you have the recipe for a great book! 5 stars

I left without words for this book. This book had me smiling and laughing the whole time. I loved the things that Kegan says without thinking or filter and I loved how strong of a character Lexi turned out to be. Marie James, you have once again hit it out of the park and wrote an wonderful emotional roller coaster but low on angst (which I needed). This book is a perfect combination of witty comments, strong characters and hot scenes.

This is a must read and while it can be a stand alone you are only hurting yourself if you don't read the first one.

Although this can be read as a stand alone book I highly suggest reading "Love Me Like That" first. I enjoyed seeing characters from LMLT.

Kadin & Lexi have that once in a lifetime romance that every woman dreams of. But they both have a past that could cause conflicts in their relationship.

Marie James never disappoints. Her writing style is amazing and I enjoy feeling like I'm right there IN the story. TMLT is fun, addictive and sexy. I couldn't put it down.

I have been waiting awhile now for Kegan’s story and I am happy to say I was not disappointed. I never knew what was going to come out of his no filtered mouth and how he was going to dig himself out of the holes that he had dug. It was an amazing read that I could not put down. I loved how two broken people we able to come together and be whole. Lexi is a strong independent woman and it was great to be able to see Kegan be able to shake her life up.

Sorry but Kagan was just too much D bag for me....

Ok, personally I'm beyond sick of these full of themselves phonies,Kagan was just a disgusting man whore, nothing more and quite possibly a whole lot less....
Book, after book these days are these disgusting jerks who are nothing but superficial flash, rarely any substance and if there is you have to suffer though almost whole book of vain bragging and BS! To get to what is only a tiny nugget of a decent man, well when Kagan ( thinks he's soo hit his poop doesn't stink) and any anal women are just supposed fall at his disgusting man whore feet ....
and when our smart and discriminating h doesn't for the 3rd time what does he do ?
He goes off to find someplace to wet his wick, sighs, I'm thinking ok,sure he's a giant D-bag but he can't stop thinking about Lexi, he'll go see this skank , not be able to get it up because he wants our h Lexi soo bad and renew his efforts to win her over..
Right ?!?
WRONG!?!?!?!
Big time , wow, he was a bigger D than I'd ever expected...
I mean way bigger,( thankfully we are spared the details ) ( other than she came his ick ( I don't care about the censors , that's what his is to me) twice , he's also a bit of a hypocrite, judging her when finds out she's an escort.... because knowing this about means she's not longer good enough for him ..
Seriously ?!? At least she's getting paid for it..... he's just a horny D bag who acts like he's being punished and or deprived fir going 4 whole days w/out... how dare Lexi make him want her and deny him ...
Seriously ?!?
I know they aren't officially a couple ,but for me once the couple met I don't want to see them w/someone else, especially not for such a lame reason... he's too much a hypocritical hornball to make it another day w/out meaningless sex, w/a woman he can't care less about ...
Really if he's gonna cheat , fir me it is , it should at least be for a better reason then that ...
Sighs, No, Lexi deserves better, Kagan is just a hypocritical horny D bag loser...
Soo grateful this was KU

Kegan and Lexie

I loved getting Kegan and Lexi's story. I absolutely LOVED what we got to read about Kegan in Kadin & London's book. He was the crazy, no attachments, love them, and leave them playboy. He was seriously burned by the first woman he fell for while in college. That led him to put his guard up where his heart was concerned and started jumping from one woman to the next, letting them into bed but refusing to let them into his heart. But that all changed when he meets Ms.Lexi Carter, the kindergarten teacher of his nieces. He is quickly infatuated by the beautiful brunette and does everything he can to get her to fall for his charm. But Lexi has also been hurt deeply, not only by the one man she's ever loved and thought he loved her as well. But by the loss of her family in a car accident. She slowly starts to come around the idea that she should let Kegan in, but as soon as she does, everything goes haywire! So much happens, and they have to fight for the chance to be together but eventually love wins and they get their well-deserved HEA! I can't wait to see what happens next! Who knows if we're going get books on Jason Bland and on Hawk and Jillian!? I guess we'll have to wait and see! But I most definitely can't wait!

Dove back into the Cole world and I didn't think I could love someone as much as I did Kadin, but I have to say Kegan comes in at a close second...I mean Kadin was my first so....But watching Kegan finally grow up, finally see that there is more than just a quick (well maybe not so quick) romp in the hay to life. He absolutely wants no kids, he can barely handle his nieces as it is...but Lexi changes all that. She is quick witted and beautiful and seems to want just what he wants. No strings, lots of fun. Lexi learns a whole lot about herself and despite trying to put the brakes on everything, she soon realizes that not all men are like those of her past and Kegan learns that there are women who are honest to a fault. It was a fun ride indeed.

Kegan and Lexi are two peas in a pot

This story is funny and serious about the romance of Kegan and Lexi. Kegan is an attractive alpha male who owns a construction company with his brother Kadin from book one. Kegan is never getting married or having children. Or rather he keeps professing these facts to his loving parents. Lexi is a school teacher and a beautiful person. Unfortunately in college she was used by her first boyfriend and lover Hunter. He left scares on Lexi and it’s the saddest thing. Kegan meets Lexi at school when he drops off his two nieces. There is chemistry right away. Their journey begins there but the challenge is that these two are relationship challenged. Read On!

I LOVED this book! Teach me Like That is a great sequel to Love Me Like That. Kegan, Like his brother Kaden, is hilarious and sexy. His uncontrollable mouth is adorable. I had a big fat grin reading this one. Shows how a playboy can be tamed and show his true feelings. I would definitely recommend reading Love Me Like That before reading Teach Me Like That as there are some spoilers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another book in this series!

I loved this story and hope there is more to come. Kegan Cole construction worker by day and playboy by night but could all of the change when he meets Lexi. Lexi is a teacher where his nieces attend school. Lexi not one to fall for a playboy but could have a hard time resistanting his charm. The story has humor which l love and a lot of chemistry. Check it out.

Adored this book. One of my favorite things to read in a book is a hero that is absolutely, 100% sure he is a player for life and love will not catch him. And our hero can fight it all he wants but in the end, can he be taught how to love? Definitely recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author

Loved it!

Great story of how love and trust can battle anything. Lexi and Kegan both have a boatload of past issues that prevent them from wanting to move into relationship status, but they got there eventually. I lol’d so many time at the one line come backs and how Kegan’s nieces manipulated him. Great ending too!

Amazing

Love Kegan and Lexi. Both having trust issues from the past that could keep them from committing. Lexi is against their relationship from the beginning and knowing Kegan has a playboy reputation is not good form the start. Kegan has to prove himself that he is in it for the long haul, but jealously from his recent pasts gets in the way.
