Under Pressure, Under Fire…Some Will Rise, and Some Will Fall. Getting out of Gaia Sur was almost as hard as getting in, but there’s no going back now. Jazwyn Ripley and her friends have no choice but to venture into the caves and tunnels underneath the ocean floor as the messages they’ve been receiving get stronger. Tensions rise and loyalties are tested when another of their crew is captured along the way, and one critical choice means following unlikely allies down a path most would never dare—across the seven biomes of “The Rush”—which, if they survive, will either lead to freedom or imprison them forever. It took twelve years of unrelenting dedication and discipline to get into Gaia Sur, where only the best could pursue a legacy beyond the last handful of generations the topside environment would be able to support. The interviews were supposed to tell students who they were…what they were supposed to become, but instead of answers, Jazwyn Ripley only has more questions. How do you start over when all you’ve ever known isn’t what you thought, and the life you’ve been pursuing is no longer possible? The leaders of Gaia Sur must know that Jazz and her crew escaped the elite school on the seafloor. With only hours to grieve the loss of one friend, and even less time to plan the rescue of yet another, the band must press on toward the messages calling them deeper into the earth. But as they trek the ever descending tunnels, sidelining visions become more frequent for both Jazz and Liddick, bringing them closer than ever before until Arco unravels a secret that threatens to divide them for good. Not only their resolve, but identity, loyalty, love, and friendship will also stand trial by fire, especially when new friends show the team the scars of what testing their mettle really means in a world miles below the only one they’ve ever known.

*AUDIOBOOK REVIEW AT THE END* Great sequel! This books moves the adventure to a whole new way of living - still under the sea, but within a cave network. Again, I was impressed by the was TK weaves in imaginative scientific advancements so easily and believably.
The characters that overlap with book one see some growth and they change. Jazz, the narrator, has points of clarity that are really satisfying because she sees what others see in her and she can settle herself and not only listen to her heart, but why she makes the choice she does.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Audiobook: I read this series first and being able to return through these audiobooks has been so amazing! I love the world that Tracy Korn has created and Dana Dae did an incredible job bringing the characters to life. Her pacing and tone are fantastic for Jazz! I enjoyed her consistency with all of the character voices and accents within the cast and she has a great tone for the male characters, which is something that can be hit-or-miss in audiobooks for me. I highly recommend this!
Book two in the series so must read book one first! This book is in the same genre as the Hunger Games, and the Divergent series but it’s even better than both of those! I dare you to read this series! You will be so happy you did.
Jazz, Liddick, Jax, Vox, Arco, and the rest of the gang are back and better than ever!! Your heart strings get tugged in a little more as they experience loss, not knowing what’s next or where they are going, relationship complications, meeting a whole new group of people, and so much more. As in the first book and in life the individual characters grow and mature individually and as a group as well as grow in size. Welcoming new characters such as Dell, Cal, and Zoe that have so much to teach them. Who are these Vishans really? What about the 12 that become 5 families while two go to the stars?
You think book one had twists and turns? Those were nothing compared to this book! They are in completely new territory with strangers they know nothing about dealing with predators you couldn’t imagine in your wildest dreams. Predatory winds that skin you layer by layer, giant mosquitoes that are as deadly and scary as they look, giant ants that feel like you are being shot when they sting, tree length alligators, big ass centipedes that bite get your dna and can track you from that oh and if you kill it their nest comes for you, tunnel sharks, huge ant lions that tunnel under the sand have lots of teeth, and wind that makes you hear and see things. Trying to face all these new hardships all the while trying to track down the ones they love and have been l lost to them. Will they survive? Will they find those they love? Will Amid City be real or fake? Read to find out!
This book has a lot more information in it than book one. At first I was overwhelmed, but the more information I got the more I understood all that was being said. Very fast paced and action packed. This book has me laughing out loud, yelling with anger, gasping with complete and utter shock, and so much. Such a rollercoaster ride this book and series is starting to be.
I was introduced to this series by a co-worker in preparation of an upcoming author visit to our local library (Tuesday, October 10, 2017 @ Bremen Public Library, Bremen Indiana 6pm) and decided to give it a try. I started the first book, Aqua, and ended up binge reading through both Aqua and Terra, only coming up for air long enough to watch the book trailers on The Element Series Website! http://www.theelementsseries.com/books/ While I enjoyed Aqua (I'd call Aqua a 3.5), it wasn't until a couple of chapters into Terra that I became a big fan. I really enjoyed the characters, the tone, the futuristic techie slang was a lot of fun and yes, ladies, there's even a love triangle. I had this instinct like the whole Terra world was an old friend and at some point realized it reminded me of the adventure of Jules Verne's Journey To The Center Of The Earth, with a more modern tone. I think Jules would approve. I'm really looking forward to the 3rd book. Those who like YA, world building, Sci Fi, or dystopian should try out The Element Series by up & coming author Tracy Korn.
This one was probably more of a 3.5 but like always I round up. I ended up enjoying Terra for the most part. I liked getting to learn more about the people who inhabited the underworld and the group's trip through the biomes was exciting. The best part of this series for me though is the world-building. I love the world that Korn has created and how many layers there are to discover. I do have two critiques. One, this story is too long. I think it could have been cut down and it would have made for a better read, there were whole sections where the story just dragged. Two, the love triangle was more front and center in this book. I am about all done with Jaz, Arco, and Liddick's drama. I like all three characters and it seems like they finally figured out who belongs with whom in this book, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't continue into the next one. On the whole, I am really enjoying this series and hope to continue on to book three here soon.
Picking up where Aqua left off, is the beginning of quite an adventure. The author has created a world within a world in the pages of this book. The imagination it has taken to write this book is mind boggling. You feel as if your on this journey with Jazz and her crew. We're introduced to several new characters and while at first it's hard to keep up, you come to love them as much as you do the main characters. I have to say I was quite upset with Jazz in this one. She's become rather selfish to me especially where Liddick is concerned. I'm hoping she'll grow and come into her own as the story continues. This book pulled me right in and kept me there throughout. Definitely can't wait to continue on.
Reading this book brings to mind the book "Sunzi: The Art of War". Sometimes it is hard to plan what actions to take unless you have at least some idea of your environment (physical and political) , your circumstances, your resources and the obstacles that you might face.

I absolutely love this series. Amazing world development and the story grabbed me immediately in the previous book and kept me reading all of the way through to this book. Now I'm ready to devour the next book.

Where do we go from there? Giving up isn't an option. Forward is the only direction. Each step more dangerous. Yet closer to truth. Never stopping we must continue to push through.
