I was born and raised in a small town in Texas close to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Writing has been in my blood since I was eight years old and wrote my first story for an English assignment. The baby of four children, I was spoiled rotten and still am.
I can't imagine ever writing anything but romances. I enjoy writing about two people (or sometimes more than two) falling in love. If you like the story enough to smile in places, shed a tear at times, or get a warm and fuzzy feeling, that is my greatest reward.
Besides writing at every opportunity, I love reading, traveling, scrapbooking, photography, and learning new things on the computer. I'm a software junky and like trying out new programs, especially anything to do with graphics.
I moved back to Texas after living on the West Coast for 21 years, to a small town 17 miles from where I grew up. I live close to my only surviving sister.
Goes down as another off my 2016 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book over 500 pages (well some sites say under but from counting pages on kindle with my page font it is so I’m counting it). Also loved that a review quote of mine from Amazon is at the front of the collection from another Naughty Literati set I read. These collections certainly know how to turn up the heat!
Strange Magic by Lynn LaFleur
Savannah is in a bit of trouble. Her magic exam is coming up and if she can’t pass every test then its kind of all down hill fast. Coming up to a 100 she barely looks over 20 but if she doesn’t pass she will age and die within 2 weeks. The only spell she can’t control is the one where she turns one object into another. The change part happens fine, its just it never goes into what she’s thinking of. Wanting one style vase to go in to another, she gets a teddy bear. When her mum turns that into a vase and asks her to turn it back into the teddy bear she gets a loaf of bread. Not even the one she would want but hey she can at least make a sandwich! Knowing her mother can’t do anything to help her, as she doesn’t know what’s blocking her, she ends up going into the woods to rethink and pratice in the open space. Looks like her mother decides to get someone to help in her stead though and it just so happens to be the one person who makes her heart beat faster and her magic go a bit haywire – Dominic.
Dominic has wanted Savannah for years but always held back due to her being so young compared to him, a few hundred years younger that is. The thought that she might not pass this test and that he would lose her forever is almost too much. He is determined to figure out her block. That and to see what is triggering flowers and mushrooms to pop up from him right to her the moment he meets her in the woods, which only seem to grow the closer he gets. A bit slow off the mark but it seems he is slowly getting it when they get back to hers and spoons start to appear in the sink only after he cages her between it and him. For being the leader of their coven and older you would have thought he might have picked up on her feelings sooner but now he has there is no way he is letting her go. Fire ignites between them when they come together – I was thinking the room would start to fill with random objects but then Savannahs mind was elsewhere at the time. He might have helped her lust – something all witches and warlocks have a lot of – but he needs to help her with her magic too. Lets hope he can get her past it so they can get back to having fun.
Gypsy Witch by Suz deMello
Seems Elena and Ben have a lot in common in the bedroom department but when she tries to take it beyond Ben almost wants to run a mile. Both single parents they meet through their kid’s camp. Now a few months down the line they are still hooking up while the kids hang out. Seems the only reason Ben is holding back is because he just can’t see someone like Elena fitting in with the other cops wives and girlfriends. She is a bit of a hippy and a witch – not that he believes her.
Seems her daughter Gina has picked up a few tricks too and wants to try out a spell to wake a sleeping knight. So she goes along with Ben’s son Tom and they cast the spell not completely sure whether it will work. Seems they had nothing to worry about when Sir Dexter pops down to say hello. The spell worked when they opened it but they really needed to watch whether they closed it, as there are others in the doorways that are not there by choice.
When another is awoken its Sinister who is freed and he is all about causing havoc. Seems Ben is about to get a front row seat of what Elena is capable of. His reaction is a bit much and I do think he needed to do a hell of a lot more grovelling. From how he reacts and then acts with her in the days that follow I think she forgave him too soon. Her option for him to get a second chance is a bit naughty and might need the help of a friend of his Jake. Its almost like she didn’t care what had gone on as soon as a kinky option for some fun was presented to her but hey if that’s what she wants then go for it girl!
That Magic You Do by Tina Donahue
Oh this turned into a bit of a sweet love story the further you got with it.
Finn has come to an island to go on a haunted house tour in an old Victorian house. He can’t really remember why he chose to go there, or understand why he feels like he has been there before, but he goes in anyway. When Caitlyn greets him, a beauty he now can’t take his eyes off, he is glad he took the chance. Though not being alone in the house – from the sounds of it another couple are having their own fun upstairs – Caitlyn starts Finns tour. Slowly leading him through different rooms, seeing how he reacts. He seems to get an overwhelming feeling of being home. Not just with the house but with being with Caitlyn too. When his favourite song continues to play as they enter a side room he can’t help but dance with her – almost perfect she says. Perfect is when he kisses her. He comes alive again with her in his arms and they waste no time in getting acquainted with each other, or should that he reacquainted?
The closer it gets to midnight the more troubled Caitlyn becomes. She knows the truth but needs him to remember the past or they both might be lost. Two creative loves being brought back to each other, their lives coming full circle. It’s like the magic they once held brought them back together in the end.
Dirty Princess by Nicole Austin
Fun Halloween party with one hell of a show! It seems Hallie’s saucy dreams are about to become reality so she better hold on for the ride.
Hallie has had the hots for her friend Ry pretty much from the moment they met, only it seems friends was all she was going to get. Years later and even though she wouldn’t want to ever lose him as a friend she can’t stop wanting him. It’s not just the way he looks, she has eyes he is hot, but the whole package. So when they have a Game of Thrones night/drinking game she ends up sharing a lot more than she would have sober.
Ry has wanted Hallie for years but never thought she felt the same way. She is one of those girls who is beautiful on the inside and out but doesn’t know the attention they draw when they enter a room. A drinking game on the couch was meant to loosen her up not turn him on big time but when she describes a naughty dream she’s had a dark fantasy about he knows its time to make his move.
The dream: She sees a stranger at a party, they connect just with their eyes across the room, when she looks for him she can’t find him only for him to appear behind her on a balcony. She lets go and lets him take her from behind regardless of who is watching. He’s the man she describes and he has every intension of making it come true and then some. She definitely becomes his dirty kinky princess.
The party he gets her go to meet him at is a little kinky and a lot of fun. She might be rabbit caught in headlights for a while when she spots him and realises what he is up to but the moment he kisses her she comes alive. Her dream is tame compared to how hot and heavy they are there and then back at hers. But a shock phone-call from their parents the next day could put a spanner in the works to the start of their relationship and make her run. I have a feeling that Ry will know just how to catch her though!
Where or When by Francesca Hawley
Some times your dream lover becomes a reality. Something Sharon finds out when she is face to face with Frank for the first time. She might have seen him her dreams for months and thought he had a striking resemblance to the singer Frank Jasper but never did she think it could really be him. It might be a concert for witches but its her luck that’s changed – with a little help from her cousin Jess – when she gets to go up on stage for him to serenade her and then have a romantic dinner after her name is called. Alls right in her world when she gets close to him but his manager Max, sleazy slim ball he is, might have other ideas. If he can’t stop them tonight he will try the next day.
Frank can’t believe his luck when he pulls Sharon close. The woman of his dreams is literally in front of him and nothing is going to stop him from spending time with her, even if he only gets tonight. The connection is clear from the start, they are so comfortable around each other at dinner, so when he asks if she would like to spend the night with him there is only one answer – yes.
Back at the hotel is where the fun starts but not before he gets her to perform a few songs for him while playing the piano. When they sing together its like they have been doing so for years, same goes for when they start stripping each others clothes off to get closer skin to skin. A magic bubble created through to the morning but when the light comes so does Max and he’s brewing trouble. Lets just say Sharon can pack a punch with a spell when mad and when she says karma is a bitch she means it. Lets hope Frank can see him for what he is before he loses the one person who was clearly made for him. I found it funny that she could tell he was a bardic witch straight away but he, along with Max, couldn’t tell she was.
The Ghosts at Substation #69 by Berengaria Brown
Doug has loved Fern forever and even after their year apart (peer pressure from others saying they were too young to know what they really want) he would do anything to help her. Fern has found herself in an abusive relationship with Lowell, beatings are one thing but she is also locked in his home. He holds all the cards, literally, all her IDs and papers too. Her only escape is through a bathroom window. She knows Doug will get her somewhere safe – that place being an abandoned substation where two friendly ghosts are only too willing to give them a helping hand, even if they can’t be seen.
Earl and Otis have been stuck in the substation ever since the accident that took their lives. For 50 years they have been stuck there with only each other for company other than the occasional worker. It shouldn’t seem weird that they can talk to each other but Otis is a little different than you’d think. They are pleased for visitors and after hearing the trouble they are in are keen to help. Even to lend a whisper to a cop or two when trouble finds them due to Lowell. Seems he has been using Fern for a reason and doesn’t like the thought that his plans might go wrong. They say its bad luck for a black cat to cross your path; lets hope that’s true in Lowell’s case.
Sweet romance between Doug and Fern with how easy it is for their connection to be relit after time apart. Time means nothing when you are with the person you are meant to be with. Here’s hoping for a happy ending for Earl and Otis too. It’s time to move on I think, your good deed should count for something.

What starts out as a bit tame soon turns into everything Mary has ever dreamed about. Her kinky side has been let out and all she wants to do is hold onto the man who helped. Both are starting over for very different reasons and it seems the ghost had a plan ready made to see them together.
The Revenant’s Desire by Charlotte Boyett-Compo
Alana is on her way to see her lover on a dark and dangerous night. The devil is at her heels and if she doesn’t make it there will be hell to pay. Good job it doesn’t come to that but it is a close call. When she is safe inside with her lover Nolan and takes a look at the creature – the Demon of Dexter – that was following her she can only be thankful. For one night every year she can see Nolan. It’s the one time a year where the veil drops between worlds and she is free to see him inside the Thibodeaux Plantation house. Well one floor really as that’s the place where he has been bound. He is a revenant, sort of like a vampire, and a very powerful one. No one is going to mess with him and as long as she is safe inside with him she will be safe too.
Nolan can see that this year feels different for Alana. She wants to know more about his past and about the creature banging on the door. She needs him to trust her enough to let her see all of him and there are only so much sexy distractions she is willing to let him get away with. But hey she has been without for a year so he knows she needs him as much as he needs her. She also reminds him that time is slowly catching up on her and soon it will run out. She gives him a choice, one he is scared to take even after she accepts his sordid past. The evil women who hurt him soon got their comeuppance, as does the evil watching them from the window. The past can be laid to rest and a future is on the horizon they just have to let go and trust in each other. Love the ending as it gives another supernatural little twist.
Immortal Hunters by Suz deMello
Rama is a private eye who only works at night. She’s a pro at making the bad guys disappear and if she gets a snack in too then alls the better. Her latest job sees her looking for a kidnapped child. Outside the perps place waiting for her chance cops appear – one that would get her pulse racing if she had one – none other than John van Helsing notorious among her kind. It seems they are there looking for the child aswell, even though cops weren’t meant to be called – even plain clothed ones. As she’s about to tell them to take a hike the child cries and she goes into attack mode. She might get up there quick but they are on the move and soon the cops are causing a distraction when shot down.
Running after the car she gets a shock when John makes time with her, even managing to jump on the roof. Seems he has become a night owl himself, fangs in all. Even in the middle of a car chase with a child in danger you can see the chemistry coming off them. They can both certainly multi task as making out while holding onto a car roof while it’s moving must be hard. Once the driver and accomplice are thrown from the car they make their way to the hospital to get the child checked out. Seems this little boy means more to John than you first thought. Once safe though all John’s thoughts turn to Rama.
The heat rolling off them is high but the danger has only just begun to show itself. Doesn’t stop them from killing some daylight hours having fun before preparing for the fight coming. Seems there are shifters about wanting to cause trouble and not one of the more known ones – a selkie who can turn into one mean seal. They are going to need to trust one another, not just in the bedroom/shower umm can I just say hot, but in a fight if they want to come out the other side unscathed.
Spontaneous Combustion by Nicole Austin
Holy hell firemen are hot! They certainly know how to create some heat in and out of Maddys dreams. Maddy has been crushing on Jake for years but never thought he saw her as anything other than a friend. The only way for her to have him was in her dreams and man are they hot and he’s not always alone in them either. At the bar with the boys she just thinks he is playing a game, getting flirty because he’s drunk. He wants to know what turns her on, something she wants to shout answer ‘you you idiot’ but can’t. That is until he pushes her one button. He says that if he guesses what turns her on then he will follow through on it – he dares her. One dare she looses but all he can think about is winning.
Jake finally has Maddy just where he wants her, well he will when they get to a quiet part of a park. Somewhere he can and will do anything to her. Ropes are needed to tie her up. She wants/needs to be taken by him and to have him own her pleasure. Seems he wants to really give her all her dreams though when two of their friends turn up.
Luke and Tom can’t believe the sight before them and if Maddy gives them the green light then these three men are going to give her one hell of a night to remember. Talk about pleasure overload but can she handle it and what is going to happen the day after. She has wanted Jake for so long that after having him she won’t want to go back to just friends, seems he’s on the same wave length so she’s not got much to worry about except when her next orgasm is going to hit.
Were the Hell? By Berengaria Brown
Seems Septimus’ pack has been having some trouble for the past 30 odd years. They seem to be only able to produce male offspring, only 4 females in the past few years. Needing to talk to other packs about theories he isn’t too pleased with having to squeeze into another small seat on a plane to repeat the questions he has been asking for a while. Well that is until he walks into the meeting and is hit by the sweet scent of his mate. Male mate I might add, Dai. Now he always wondered whether he was just attracted to other males because there were a lack of females around in his pack but the moment they are close enough to touch he knows without a doubt that he is gay.
Dai thinks all his Christmas’ have come at once when his mate walks in the door. His reaction is fast and fierce from the tent in his shorts and from looking at Septimus the feeling is very mutual. They have a meeting to discuss first so their lust is put on hold, but not for long. New ideas are voiced about a theory a curse might have been placed on the pack. A bit more digging around in the past is needed which means he has to stay around a bit longer, not that Dai minds one bit. When they get back to his place they can hardly wait a second before they are ripping each other’s clothes off. They are hungry for each other and won’t stop until each is sated. Passionate from the start but they do have a job to do, so if they can keep their hands off each other a little while they might just crack what has been happening for all those years. Fate brought them together for a reason and it might have been to get two lost loves back together aswell.
I received a free copy of this book from the Making Connections group in exchange for an honest review.
Like all anthologies, I found stories I liked and ones I didn’t. A three star average over eleven stories.
STRANGE MAGIC by Lynn LaFleur (2 stars)
A very bland start off to the collection. Dominic and Savannah are flat and wavering from dull to silly. Dominic tells us he’s all lusty for Savannah but I couldn’t see why. Savannah is lusty for Dominic, something I did understand, but she acts 16, not the 100 she supposedly is which made the love scenes a little icky for me. I would have been able to ignore that if the story had some punch but it was as bland as the characters.
GYPSY WITCH by Suz deMello (3.5 stars)
A story that could have been a 4 or 5 had our hero not been such a jerk. Ben is a human cop in lust with Elena, the mother of a friend of his tween son. To him Elena is good for child car (he works nights) and sex but since she's a "card carrying nut" for claiming she's a witch, nothing but a great lay. Elena knows he's struggling with the witchiness part, but he's great in bed and she's willing to stick it out to see what happens.
Elena was was my favorite part of this story. She knows what she is and is practical yet hopeful, and doesn't shy away from hard truths. When her daughter Gina and Ben's son Tom get into trouble, she jumps right in and takes care of things. The second best thing were the sexy times. Those were fabulously hot and well written.
The biggest problem I has was Ben. He's a jerk. Elena is nothing but sex and child care and outside her body has no flattering thoughts about her. His rejection of her when he sees her magic is predictable. What isn't predictable is how easily Elena takes him back after a simple apology, an apology that only comes when he sees Elena with another man. I never felt that he cared for in any way and I wanted much more in the way of groveling.
Gina and Tom's magical miscalculation was clunky and the menage didn't have the oomph I was expecting. All that being said, and despite an editing error, the writing itself good.
THE MAGIC THAT YOU DO by Tina Donahue (3.75 stars)
If looking for spooky, this story is one to read. Finn doesn’t know why he’s at the haunted house on Halloween but can’t keep his eyes off Caty. From the beginning we know something’s up. There are clues that everything is not what it seems and I was happily drawn deeper into the story. The sexy times are hot, the only issue I had with the story is it lacked the tragedy the set up was geared for. Up until a little disappointment at the end, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
DIRTY PRINCESS by Nicole Austin (1 star)
Hallie and Ry are best friends and Hallie has been lusting for Ry for I guess forever, he being a perfect specimen and all. How to describe Ry? Ry openly sleeps around while scaring off anyone who wants to date Hallie “ensuring she's both available and eager for male attention.” Oh yeah, sign me up for some of that. When he’s ready to finally have sex with her, he listens to a drunken rant, then without discussion and consent, has her go to party by herself, not caring about her safety I guess, then engages in spanking and public sex because a drunken rant is all one needs. It doesn’t get better. Hallie has a freakout and drives away, like she has a pattern of doing. Ry has his own freakout that she's gone and nowhere does he exhibit any concern or sympathy for Hallie. It's all about his feelings and when she returns he won't let her talk and spanks her in anger and punishment. Now if we'd gotten from her head that she likes submission then I'd be good with this. But we don't. He's never treated her this way before and while I admit her freakout was a bit ridiculous, his response was even worse.
WHERE OR WHEN by Francesca Hawley (3.5 stars)
This was a simple, sweet story that I adored. Frank and Sharon have a dream connection, and when she wins a date with him, they actually have a nice, yet interesting date, and when Sharon gets pushed she pushes back and then some. These two make a lovely couple, I just wish I could have seen Sharon use her magic more.
THE GHOSTS AT SUBSTATION #69 by Berengaria Brown (2 stars)
This story took on too meaty a topic to work in a four chapter format. Doug has arrived to save Fern from a man (Lowell) that holds her prisoner and abuses her. She’s been in that relationship about a year I think and the beginning is actually very realistic as Doug works, and works, to get Fern to agree to leave. Once he gets her out of the house, the story just doesn’t get where it needs to be. Doug stashes her in an electric sub station where they have sex, something that felt off concerning the circumstances. But neither Doug nor Fern shape up to be that intereresting which is why I was exicted to find we had not only one, but two ghosts there. A man and a talking cat. How could that go wrong? Well I was quite uninspired by the help the ghosts did give and Lowell was too comically bad to be taken seriously.
COASTAL GHOST by Katherine Kingston (4 stars)
BDSM is not my thing. So I began this one with some trepidation. But this was a wonderful example of when BDSM works for me. Mary is on vacation when the rental house goes haywire. A ghost tells her to stick it out. Which she does and meets the owner, Tom. From the beginning, the identity of the ghost was obvious, but Mary and Tom are wonderful characters. Mary is trying to start he life over after her bitter break up a year ago and Tom is looking to move past the death of his wife. They are two real people who get to know each other. In the midst of that Tom learns Mary is interested in trying submission. He’s a Dom and willing to help. Tom is a genuinely nice man who looks for consent in everything. He’s only a Dom in the bedroom and everything is discussed and clearly consented to. It’s clear he understands the sub holds the power and he’s happily surprised by everything she gives him. Consent is sexy and I loved this couple and this story.
THE REVENANT’S DESIRE by Charlotte Boyett-Compo (5 stars)
This story alone makes the collection worth while, and I was saddened to learn the author has since passed. This was hair raising spooky from the beginning, with a devastating back story, lovers tragically pulled apart, hot sexy times, and literal evil at the door. And Alana and Nolan get a real happy ending. I simply loved, loved, loved it.
IMMORTAL HUNTERS by Suz deMello (3 stars)
Rama is what I’d expect a vampire PI to be, strong, snarky, and knows her thing. While trying to save a kidnaped baby, she coincidentally meets the baby’s father, John van Helsing who is hilariously more like her than she imagined. John’s background story made sense and the plot was interesting and set in a world where vampires are not top dogs which was a nice change. The sexy times weren’t bad, a little giggle inducing scent emitting that I could have done without, but Rama and John and fun and good team.
SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION by Nicole Austin (1 star)
Basically a retelling of the same trope in Dirty Princess. This time, heroine loses a drunken bet which means Jake takes her to a park, ties her up, has sex, then brings in a gang bang. Basically he’s a Dom who’s “waking up” a closet sub, something I just can’t get into. I know there are readers who like this set up, so YMMV with this one. If you like it, there’s two of these stories in here which you’ll likely enjoy.
WERE THE HELL? by Berengaria Brown (3 stars)
An m/m offering. Good characters, love the title, and interesting mystery that is realistically resolved by the end, but too much filler sex that didn’t advance the plot in any way. Plus a little wolf on wolf sex with I skimmed as it hits too high on my squick meter. However, I did like the take on insta love/lust and felt it worked in this story.
This a review for all eleven stories - some are really good and others are ok but overall a good set.
1) Strange Magic - Lynn LaFleur
Savannah is a witch who turns 100 on Halloween but in order to keep on living she needs to be able to complete a specific spell which she is having trouble with. Her mom asks Dominic, a master warlock to help her but Savannah's not sure if that is a good idea.
- This is a fun story and I thought it was funny when you discovered what Savannah's issue had been.
2) Gypsy Witch - Suz deMello
Ben McCulloch, a police officer, is secretly dating Elena Lautari, a witch, after their kids meet at camp. He enjoys the sex but think that Elena is a "card-carrying nut". When Elena's daughter gets caught up in some magic it is up to Elena to get her out of trouble but when Ben and others witness what happens he pulls away. Will Ben figure out how he feels about Elena or will she move on?
- I enjoyed this story as I think Ben got what he deserved in the end. I liked Elena and thought she was genuine and didn't need to be treated so badly.
3) The Magic That You Do - Tina Donahue
Finn Gallagher is standing in front of a Haunted House on Halloween debating on going in when he sees a woman in there. Will Finn remember what he is supposed to or will time run out for him?
- I thought this story was interesting with Finn figuring out what was going on. I was kind of lost in the beginning but at the end everything made sense.
4) Dirty Princess - Nicole Austin
Hallie is best friends with Ryland Carter, although she has always wanted more than just a friendship with him. When a night of drinking leads to her telling him about her fantasies how will he take it and will their friendship survive?
- I enjoyed this story and I definitely wasn't expecting certain things to happen although I knew other things would. I was kind of surprised at the end but I am glad that Hallie was able to sort things out with her mom and Ryland.
5) Where or When by Francesca Hawley
Sharon Beryl is a witch/bard and is attending the Samhain Ball with her cousin Jess Diamond to see Sharon's favorite singer Frank Jasper. When Sharon wins a dinner out with Frank will all her dreams come true or is the image of him in her head too good to be true?
- I liked this story and how there was a twist with Max. I didn't completely understand all the powers of a bard compared to that of a witch but it was still an interesting story.
6) The Ghosts at Substation #69 - Berengaria Brown
Doug is in love with Fern and when the chance comes to take her away from her abusive boyfriend, Lowell, he takes it. Unfortunately Lowell is not too far behind but with the help of Earl and Otis, love may win.
- I wasn't sure where this story was headed but I enjoyed it. I was totally surprised about Otis and was happy how he and Earl were able to help.
7) Coastal Ghost - Katherine Kingston
Mary Sullivan is renting a beach house where everything seems to be going wrong. She is debating leaving when a voice tells her she needs to wait until 6pm. Will Mary's luck change at 6pm??
- I liked this story and the way things turned out in such a way that shows we are meant to go on and live our lives.
8) The Revenant's Desire - Charlotte Boyett-Compo
Every year on Halloween Alana Cross meets her lover at an old house but this year something is after her. When Alana hears the story of her lover will she choose her own path?
- This story was good and it was interesting to hear Nolan's past and learn everything. It was sad that he seemed to get a bad deal with everything that happened.
9) Immortal Hunters by Suz deMello
Hestia White is a vampire who works for a Private Investigator company. When she is on the job and meets John VanHelsing, a police officer, will her days be numbered?
- I really enjoyed this book and the twist surprised me. I really wasn't expecting the Selkie and it was interesting to learn about this Celtic folklore.
10) Spontaneous Combustion - Nicole Austin
Maddy Flannagan has had a crush on Jake Cruise for years. When Jake bets Maddy he can guess her deepest fantasy she agrees but is surprised at what he wants if he's right.
- I liked this story although it was very similar to Dirty Princess. I was definitely as shocked as Maddie with what all happened as I was not expecting the "extras". Still a very fun story and hot!!
11) Were the Hell - Berengaria Brown
Septimus is the 7th child in his family of werewolves and is sent to the Forest Hills pack to see if they can help him discover why his pack is not producing any girl werewolves. What he gets when he arrives is not what he expected!
- This was another good story about finding what you aren't even looking for! I'm glad they got to the bottom of why the pack had no girls with some hot action in between!

This set of stories was truly a fun collection of naughty stories to read. There was a bit of everything in there for paranormal in the way of ghosts. Good guys, bad guys, love, desire, kidnapping, lust, erotic sex (lots of that), even so far as watching lovers reunite. Each of these stories brings something different, though they all have an underlying theme of love to them, and ghostly things. It was a fun set of stories for me, as I enjoy the paranormal and I enjoy romance. Feel free to pick up this anthology of stories. There are 8 stories, with 3 bonus stories at the end of this book. Definitely something for a good read around Halloween Time! Keep it in mind! Just don't forget to pick it up! Don't forget all the other Naughty Literati Anthologies too!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M. Brennan.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
The stories in this anthology all have a supernatural or Halloween theme. Witches, ghosts, shape shifters and more are in this book, just in time for October 31.
I like reading paranormal romances, but I've always felt that short stories are definitely a challenge for writers. You have to set the stage, introduce the characters, and get the reader engaged in the story in a very short time. These stories did a good job of that, though, and introduced me to some authors I would like to read more of. From the Iron Range of northern Minnesota to a crumbling plantation in rural Georgia, these stories travel all over the place!
This was a big book, but the stories were quick reads. I would give this book 4 stars.
What a wonderful culmination of naughty stories. They run the gambit from mortals, witches, vampires, shifters, werewolves, and ghosts plus a couple of demons and strange creatures. Each story is very well written with well written characters and each story is different with one exception, the sex..all hot and steamy. Some are adventurous, some are sweet, some are dangerous but all are a joy to read. I really enjoyed reading these stories and recommend this anthology to anyone who likes a little paranormal with their erotica.
I have read many of the box sets they have put together and always love them. This boxset contains shifters, M/M, BDSM, love and more. All the stories in this set were great. I especially liked Strange Magic and Dirty Princess. These stories are all steamy for sure. You may need a new pair of panties while reading this boxset. I highly recommend this boxset and look forward to reading the next boxset that Naughty Literati put together.
If you love paranormal romance but can't decide if you want shifter, witches, vampires, or ghosts then this is your book. It has a bit of everything. I loved each book for separate reasons and will look up the authors for more by them.
I liked Strange Magic by Lynn LaFleur because it showed a strong woman, even if she happens to a witch, needs to stop and ask help for help. Dominic who is a master Warlock help the woman he loves make it into her magic. It's just a funny story that you can't help but fall in love with. Gypsy Witch by Suz DeMello is so adorable. When Elena's daughter actually gets caught up with her magic, you can't help but laugh because mom has to come save her. But you can't help but want to defend her because Ben is such a butt. He loves what she has to offer in the bedroom but he finds her to be a nut out. I wanted to punch him and felt he got want he deserved.
The Magic That You Do by Tina Donahue kind of confused me at the beginning with Finn not understanding why he is in front of a Haunted house and why there is a woman there. It does start to slowly make sense as you read it, so don't give up on the story.
Dirty Princess by Nicole Austin is so darn hot. After a night of drinking between friends leads to fantasies coming in the open. I loved this one because Hallie and Ryland finally stopped dancing around what they wanted. They wanted each other by the way. But in the end it made me so happy Hallie was able to sort things out with her mom. You will understand when you read the book.
Where or When by Francesca Hawley had me researching the difference between a witch and bard so i could know the difference. I loved this story because there was a twist with one of the characters. I loved how intense Sharon and Frank are right from the beginning. It was Fire.
The Ghosts at Substation #69 by Berengaria Brown i liked. It was my favorite ghost story. I loved how Doug finally got his chance to save Fern. She is after all the love of his life. I loved how Earl and Otis had a hand in helping them hide from Ferns abusive ex.
Coastal Ghost by Katherine Kingston showed me that things have a way of happening when you least expected. That sometimes you need a little push to move on and live life. This one got me kind of emotional but in a sweet way. It is a very nice story.
The Revenant's Desire by Charlotte Boyett-Compo i loved. I wish this was made into a movie. This is what campfire horror stories are what about. Like this book is what you tell people about haunted house. Minus the sex scenes of coarse. I loved how there was romance, horror, and information on why Nolan was what he was.
Immortal Hunters by Suz deMello isn't what you expect from a vampire book. The twists and turns in this book made it amazing. I did have to do some research on a Selkie to know what it was. I loved how the author also included the information about the Celtic Folklore.
Spontaneous Combustion by Nicole Austin was on fire. The Extras that Jake had included in his bet to Maddy, i had to put the book down and take a moment to myself. This book was funny yet hot in a very good way.
Where the Hell by Berengaria Brown was something i didn't expect but i fell in love. I'm not usually a fan of M/M romance let alone paranormal M/M but this book blew me away. It wasn't just about them even though those sex scenes had my blood on fire. It was about the mystery of why a pack has no female werewolves.
The last three books are the bonus books and they are just as amazing. I loved each book separately and i wish they were full length novels but at the same time i don't. I feel like if they were full length it would take away from the greatness of each book.
I haven't raised my eyebrows like that in a while. a little bit of everything for mainstream people and a couple little gems for the porn connoisseur. not that I know anyone like that XD
This book provided a great smorgasbord of stories, including vampires, witches, shifter, and BDSM. Each story was well written and kept in involved. Since I have a weakness for witches, I have to say my favorite was Strange Magic. I love strong women willing to fight for what they want. In each – the suspenseful scenes were great and the romance was hot. Gypsy witch – Ben, a police detective is in love with a Elena, an uninhibited witch. Elena’s daughter, just coming into her own powers, has befriended Ben’s son and finds trouble. The romance and action intertwined to keep pulling me forward. A very nice short story. The Magic that You Do – A story of ghosts and everlasting love. This was an incredible read. The entire time I read it, I wasn’t sure exactly where it was going, but loved the way the author revealed a bit of history at a time. Dirty Princess – Okay, This one ties for the best. Hallie has been in love with Ry, her platonic roommate for three years. A series of events forces her to re-evaluate their relationship. This was a great story line. The author has a gift with setting a stage and keeping you entertained. Where or When – witches anyone? Another incredible read. Francesca Hawley brought to life a witchy rock star and the female witch he’d dreamt about for years. Told in alternating 3rd person point of view, romance sizzles between the main characters with a great villain type in the wings. The Ghost at Substation #69 A classic with a wonderful twist. Who’d have thought that a cat would make such a great ghost? Doug and Fern, estranged lovers. Fern, caught up in the glitz of another man, learns a lesson about looking deeper – into the soul. I loved this story as it kept me guessing until the end.
Coastal Ghost Mary Sullivan was ready to start fresh – a year after dumping her ex. Deciding to rent a cottage on the beach, she wants to take the time to rethink her life and new beginning. Add a devastatingly handsome man, his ghostly wife, and a little BDSM, and you have a fantastic story. Katherine Kingston is an author I’ll be following.
The Revenant’s Desire Oh My! Ghostly vampires and star-crossed lovers. Even if you’re not a fan of paranormal, this is a book you should read. Romance sizzles, while the author makes you cheer, laugh, and sometimes cry. Charlotte Boyette-Compo should be on everyone’s list of authors to follow. Tension remained high with brief pauses to catch your breath in a wonderfully paced adventure.
Immortal Hunters Personally, I’m a fan of vampires, and Suz deMello adds enough twist to this story to keep you glued to your seat. Throw in another supernatural being and you have the makings for a wonderful story.
Spontaneous Combustion Nicole Austin writes a great ménage. Take one highly intelligent, yet strong, outgoing woman, add some sexually dominant firefighters, and you have the makings for volcanic romance. Another book you won’t be able to put down.
Were the Hell I was a little surprised to see a M/M book in with the others, but the author has a good style of writing and a flare for telling stories. I like having a twist in the story line, and she weaved it in well with the romance. Nice job.
This is a fun set of stories. There are all kinds of relationships and it is a very diverse group of stories. There are witches, vamps, humans and weres. There are menage elements in some as well as one M/M story.
Some of them have been previously released but were new to me. I discovered some new authors I will be checking out.
GYPSY WITCH starts it off. Two single parents have been having fun together. The problem is he is a cop who doesn't believe in magic and she is a witch. The sex is hot but she is getting a little tired of being his dirty secret. He will have to prove he is worth the trouble. I really liked the story and goes in interesting directions. I would love to read more stories with these characters.
THE MAGIC THAT YOU DO is more of an nostalgic story with a surprise twist. It is a very sweet love story about two lovers finding their way back to each other.
DIRTY PRINCESS is another sexy story that is definitely worth a read. It involves taking a risk on love.
WHERE OR WHEN is a different kind of rock star romance. They are both witches with musical abilities and when they meet, the sparks fly. I loved the spell she cast.
THE GHOSTS AT SUBSTATION is a short story about two ghosts who want to protect some lovers kept apart by a very nasty boyfriend. It is about a woman who makes a bad choice and her old love comes to the rescue. It is a second chance at love story.
COASTAL GHOST is another ghost story. A ghost brings together two people that thought they were doomed to a life alone. It is a sweet romance with a nice premise.
IMMORTAL HUNTERS is action oriented and involves two vampires that find each other when they are trying to rescue a young boy. The love connection is very unexpected. They have great chemistry from the first meeting.
SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION is about two friends that have tried to ignore their not so friendly sexual attraction. He is now ready to make her his own. It is a very hot story and involves a woman submitting to her fantasies.
WERE THE HELL? is a M/M romance about a male werewolf finding an unexpected mate.
