When Stone "Pappy" Masterson meets a younger woman, she rocks his world, but McKenna has secrets, the kind of secrets that can kill or get her killed.
Pappy/Stone
I won't let her get away from me now that I've found her. An old enemy of mine is after her and he is one of the deadly kind. I need to protect her and stop him, not only for his deeds of the past but for what he intends to do to McKenna.
McKenna
I'd never met a man like Stone. A leader of men. Older than me, but so sexy and hard for me to resist. But resist him I must, I won't put him or his Hell's Fire Brothers in harm's way. It will break my heart but I will have to leave him behind when I run away once again, from Hades.
I live in a small town in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.
I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
The story itself was good. Loved all the characters and was really glad that we still had all the one's I grew to love from Sin's Bastards MC. I've always loved books with military or ex-military men and this one didn't disappoint and I'm looking forward to finding out more about the men in Hell's Fire Riders MC. What they already do (helping woman and children that have been abused) and what they want to do with the network including all the people from Redemption House. The only thing that bothered me was the poor editing job, the repetition and at one point the conversation between Pappy and McKenna (earlier in the book) sounded like the dialogue from a historical romance. Sometimes the words used don't belong in this type of book, ie. bikers, etc. I've learned to overlook a lot of these things throughout the previous series and I will continue to do so because the essence of the stories are very interesting to me.
I read the Bratva series recently which was my first introduction to Stone (Pappy). So when I finished the series, I decided to check out this series to see if it stands up. Overall, this was an ok story. I really expected more from this book from the impression of Stone I got from him in the Bratva series, but sadly it was just mediocre.
I liked all the characters in this book, except McKenna. In almost every scene with McKenna she was trying to leave and was kinda winy, which quickly became annoying. But then at the end she grows a pair and acts all tough which doesn't really fit with how she act the whole book. I wish she had that kick ass attitude throughout the whole book instead of just at the end.
Way too many characters with too much back-story. It was way too confusing. I couldn't enjoy the story because of all of the long winded explanations of who was who and how they were all connected.
These books are really good to read! There is a hook to grasp you in, and once your in, you don’t want to stop. To who ever edited these books from this author, needs a new job. There were so many grammar errors, punctuation errors, and constantly repeats. Also, when one thing was mentioned, it was completely different in another chapter. Also the timeline was just bad. I honestly can’t describe the timeline in these books. Skipping way ahead of time, or mentioned something in the past as if it was 15 years ago, but says it happened a few days ago. Not too sure if that makes any sense. I’m not trying to bash the writer. I absolutely enjoyed these books. But to be an author, one needs to make sure the timeline is correct and that means to keep going over and over until you no it’s correct. Also the repeats of the same thing was annoying. The authors editor seems like he/she got paid to do nothing.
I do recommend these books, but for me it was just too many errors. Some can stand it an others like myself can’t get over it.
Ahh..this author has a way with words and her MC's come life! Stone President of Hell's Fire Rider's, a combo of ex Marines and Sent vets doing a service still for their country. In a bar one night he meets a woman, McKenna, who's younger than him but she doesn't care at all she wants him. Little does he know she's being hunted by a serial killer, Hades is the name he uses. The name he was given while in the service under Stone! He hated Stone and when he finds out Stone is with the woman he wants to kill he goes ballistic! Now he wants to kill them both! Great storyline with awesome characters!
I feel like this could have been a really good book, however it just seemed rushed and redundant. I couldn't make it past the second chapter. I feel like it was written by either a middle school or high school aged person in the sense that there was no depth to the characters and it all and they weren't connecting to what they were writing about. It seems like they just googled a bunch of stuff and threw it in there to seem knowledgeable but it just came out forced and awkward. Don't waster your time. I've noticed a similar pattern in all of this authors work.
This was truly an awful book. This book is an example of why editing is vital. Know the difference between the words “revolution “ and “revulsion”. There were so many errors it’s ridiculous.
And why such a long set up and so many characters? It was annoying. And the underlying political message regarding veterans. Yeah, the readership is aware of the social injustice towards veterans. Don’t lecture me!
The sex scenes were so bad, why include them? They added nothing to the story.
I don’t know if I can read any more of this author’s garbage.

This author is brilliant all of her books have you gripped and every character comes alive and this book is no exception. McKenna has been persued by a serial killer for years when she stumbled across Stone it turns out this killer used to be one of his elite team out in the desert before he went awol. She and Stone end up falling in love and when Hades comes after her again she ends up killing him. It is another action packed story filled full of biker brotherhood and veteran comardarie. Excellent read.
Another brilliant book which the author gave to me through book funnel and which I am happily reviewing. Absolutely loved the book and would thoroughly recommend it to all who love great books. This book has all you need romance, action and adventure. Pappy is a retired Colonel who is the President of a MC when he meets McKenna in a bar. Unknown to both their lives will be connected by a serial killer who was a member of Pappy's troop overseas. Readers should enjoy how these two people interact and I am sure that like all this author's books this is the beginning of a new series of books.
Fantastic story by KJ Dahlen. Pappy is an important man in this and future books. He is the president of the Hell Fire Riders MC. The men that follow him try to fight wrongs done to others by getting the criminals. Pappy lost his woman years ago until McKenna shows up. She has secrets that could hurt his men. The characters are realistic and the storyline keeps you guessing. There's action, drama, mystery, suspense and romance.
This wasn't my favorite.... Still good storyline but was expecting more I guess. Still loving the characters, the only problem is getting way too many to keep track of. Its getting harder to remember everyone. I might have to take notes lol. Thanks Jamie Nibarger Ellis
This follows of from the last Satan 's bastards books, with a new mc group hells fire riders on the way to ask for help from Sam they encounter a woman hiding from a serial killer, turns out they knew him, love follows with death and the whole mc help to bring closure to the woman. I love this author and can't wait to read the next book
A man on a mission. A woman on the run from a serial killer. A story of two souls brought together by a common threat. Pappy and McKenna bring all the elements I've come to expect from KJ Dahlen. Action, nail biting suspense, spine tingling terror, and bone melting passion are all a part this new MC series that is unputdownable.
At the end of the Sins Bastards series we met Stone. It was a vague short meeting and this book takes off from that. We meet the Sins guys and girls again and they don't disappoint.
I enjoyed this story about Stone (Pappy) and his crew. Also love that they’re ex-military and how they pool together to build their compound for their protection. and protection of others. McKenna was a bit of a sap at times but ponied up when needed.
Stone and McKenna kept me glued to the pages with their story. She is in hiding from a man who wants to kill her but when she accepts a challenge from her friends and kisses Stone it starts their journey. When he learns her story, he and his MC brothers are determined to keep her safe!
Dnf.. there’s insta love and then I guess record breaking insta love. Idk. Literally 2%in and he says you’re mine, I don’t give up what’s mine.. wayyy tooo fast...
Pappy (Stone) and McKenna grab you right from the beginning and don't let go. It has everything you would want in a book and so much more. It's emotional, action packed, steamy, and full of twist and turns and you won be able to stop reading it. When you meet these guys and you find out who and what is going on your head will spin and you will have tears in your eyes when the whole story comes out. Amazing read an can't wait for more.
Good start to the series. I am seeing a def. pattern with the younger girls and older men with this author lol. Interested in seeing what happens in the rest of the series.
