OM

Rate this book
Om is the most universal and all-inclusive sound that can be sung, chanted or uttered, or even cherished in the mind by everyone. Om is the simplest of all the mantras, which when chanted repeatedly directs the mental energies towards the higher realities.
Nowadays, irrespective of religion or faith, the meditational saying of Om is universally used to ‘calm’ the mind. It is to disengage all sensory input, particularly about the objects of desire coming from the sense organs, and to release the mind from the power of these senses. Om is a non-personal and nondenominational mantra which can be used by all. It is the universal mantra. However, its origin is from the Hindu scriptures.
The Vedic mantras begin with this sacred sound ‘Om’. Upanishads are the best known aspects of the Vedic literature. In the main teachings of the Upanishads, the Upanishadic lessons formulate suitable meditations, including and particularly, the meditation upon ‘Om’. Om is propounded in the Upanishads. The details are explained in this book.
The second edition of this book is completely revamped with new articles and inclusion of better explanations throughout.
