My computer died, my brother fixed it and put Windows 10 on it (from Windows 7) without telling me, and I've been scrambling to try and learn something about Windows 10. I got 3-4 books on kindle apps and this looked the easiest. Imagine my shock when I realized I had gotten over 60% through the book before my brain said "Enough! No more computer stuff!" Normally 1-2 PAGES will put me to sleep, so sauntering through 30-60 pages in one sitting (it's hard to estimate kindle pages) about computers is unheard of for me! I will finish the rest of the book (eagerly now!), then go back and reread it, making notes to take to the computer to modify and personalize my computer to fit my needs. For a change, computers seem like fun.
You know, this is what scientific writers are supposed to do--take a difficult, scientific subject and make it easy (or at least a lot easier) for laypeople (like you and me) to understand. I'm not looking to write programs for the White House, or write computer games, or even PLAY interactive games, or do most of the stuff possible with a computer. I just want to be able to deal with emails, read books, write, and have some arts and crafts stuff and keep track of stuff. That's as much as I have time for! I think this book will give me the key to find a way into Windows 10 easily. I am certainly looking for more books by Steve Dota, and I recommend this book!

Doesn't tell all

This book doesn't tell all. It doesn't tell how your current Window 7 programs will not work on 10. It fails to mention how difficult it is to find simple programs that you are used to using like any disc drives including external drives.

It is a good guide for first user, but...

...I hate W10 even more than W8. I wish I could go back to the future and I would never give up W7!!!
