What a wonderful addition to the Prophecy series! Thrown together to help the Anferthian’s survive a deadly disease, Nick Bock and Sakura Yamata start out on rough footing, but of course that doesn’t last. Loved the chemistry between Nick and Sakura as the race time to develop a cure. This is great read for those that enjoy a good science fiction romance.

Deep and Soulful

Omg I absolutely loved this book!
Nick and Sakura's relationship was deep and soulful! The anferthians were a hoot, and I loved the ending glossary.
Lots of action and lots of love! Lea delivers again.

Summary:

Given for an honest review.

Nicholas's life changed forever when Earth was invaded by the Anferthians seven years ago. It was only by the help of rebel's from the aliens who saved s many humans as they could. Nicholas learned that he and his sister were among some of the humans who had Anferthian ancestors giving him the gift of healing. Nicholas never wanted his abilities and it wasn't until the dissenters were under attack to lure him to use his abilities.

Sakura lost everything during the invasion, but her healing ability gave her a place in the new order. Brought together, Sakura and Nicholas couldn't figure out what was worse their dislike for each other or what was causing the death of the dissenters. The threat against the dissenters was a mystery that needed to be revealed before it was too late leaving Sakura and Nicholas determined to save them.

This story was an incredible edition to this series from start to finish with unexpected plot twists.

I cannot wait to read more about Nick and Sakura. Salvation is another smash hit from the Prophecy Series by Lea Kirk. This book has it all; mystery, humor, romance, a great storyline, and wonderful characters who you hate to say goodbye to. But luckily the story will continue.

This is a book you could read as a standalone, but do yourself a favor and read the series from the beginning; you won’t be disappointed, and you won’t be able to put them down. The Terrian (Earth) characters and the alien characters and worlds are well crafted. Please keep writing and please keep the stories coming!

An exciting, well paced sequel!

I found the characters to be likeable and nuanced. Also, as the sequel to Prophecy, where the Earth is invaded, occupied, and finally freed, I found the aftermath dealt with in Salvation to be entirely believable.

The romance was definitely present and accounted for, more than living up to the book's billing as a science fiction romance.

The ending delivered good payoff, and there's definitely more story to tell in future novels from Ms. Kirk.

healers unite!

What a joy it was to immerse myself in this second book. It was great to see Alex and Gryf as well as watch as Nick finally grows up. To visit another planet, to meet new aliens. To sigh over the loving that occurs. To watch as evil is thwarted. It’s an adventure waiting for you to join in!

I loved this book! I had high hopes after Prophecy and this did not let me down. I loved seeing more of the Anferthians. Nick and Sakura had great chemistry as they were racing to find a cure and I loved how their relationship flowed.

We will do all we can to save them. 5 CHERRY BLOSSOMS

One thing was clearer than anything. Failure was not an option. Sometimes life just sucked. Had Death just laughed at him? Are you ready? Ready to embark on a journey like no other? Well strap yourself into your seat because this interplanetary transport ship is going to take you on one exciting, shocking, amazing, heart-wrenching, heart-warming, emotional, out of this world TREMATIRANDOUS adventure to find friendship, love, healing, faith in yourself, your gift, and Salvation! WOW!! This is one BOCKTACULAR story that focuses on Sakura Yamata & Nicholaus Bock or "Brother of our esteemed Profeta" as the Matiran's refer to him. I have to say that when I found out this book is set seven years after Prophecy, I was worried that the magic would be lost, that maybe I wouldn’t love it just as much as I do love Prophecy, but WOW!! That could not have been more further from the truth!!! I ABSO-NULKING-LUTELY love, Love, LOVE this book!! I love the characters, the updates on everyone, just EVERYTHING!!! Well except the sad parts, but by now we all know that those lows make the highs that much sweeter! Like cherry blossom sweeter! I fell in love with Alex & Gryf the moment I met them in Prophecy (book 1 of the series) and was really hoping that we would continue with them in future books. When I saw it was about Alex’s brother Nick, I will admit to being a touch disappointed (I DID say that I fell in love with Alex & Gryf and I meant in!), but then I was excited to see what Nick was up to and why he did what he did, chose a different path, and just get to know him. Lea did not disappoint in the slightest! In fact, I actually fell for Nick *almost* as quickly as I did with Alex!  And Sakura? She was an enigma that I was determined to understand and discover her secrets, because there is no doubt that she harbors something big that she doesn’t want ANYONE to know about! For the record, I DO love this story as much as Prophecy and I do love Nick & Saku!! I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the very same “aliens” that we briefly met in book 1, that helped our heroes escape and survive. And to be able to live with them on another planet?!? WHOOOT! Then there is that moment when Saku & Nick joined minds! It was so beautiful, so precious, so perfectly PERFECT it brought tears to MY eyes! But then again, it is a Lea Kirk book! The way she tells a story goes way beyond, much deeper, than “just reading a book”. It truly is a full-fledged, all around all sensory experience! Lea doesn’t just have you read the book. She transports you into the story, so that you not only live the story with the characters, you BECOME the characters! You experience everything with them, for them and AS THEM, and REALLY see - feel - inside their hearts & minds, giving you a gift that is too precious for mere words! I honestly cannot think of adequate words that share my love and excitement for this series, especially without leaking some spoilers!!!! Trust me! This is definitely a series you should – NEED to – read! I was so completely absorbed into the story that I couldn't tell where the book left off and I started! Or where I left off and the book started! I laughed, cried, cringed, worried, relaxed, held my breath, gasped and every other reaction right along with - as - Nick, Saku, Dante and even for her brief appearance, with & as Alex! In fact I was so absorbed into the story I apparently didn't even hear the voices OUTSIDE of my head!! oops! Sorry Mom! When reading this book, I had the sensation of being encased in warm, soft, fuzzy cuddles, that stayed with me for the entire story. At first I thought it was because I was just so excited to FINALLY read more in this SPACETASTIC series (I say “finally” because as soon as I finished Prophecy I immediately wanted more, More, MORE to read simply because it was that great and I loved it that much!). But then I realized it was something more preternatural – LEA’S GIFT!!! It is Lea's Gift that comes across to me like warm, soft, fuzzy, cuddles. Just like when I get all comfy in my pjs & settled in to read a SPACETACULAR Lea Kirk book!! Lea is without a doubt, hands down, a Master of the highest level with her Gift - the Gift to create SCI-FINOMENAL stories!! The very kind of stories that transport me to another time and place where "aliens" are not only real, but close friends, family, even mates! If you are looking for a series that will take you hostage, that will take you on an epic adventure like no other, then THIS IS THE SERIES FOR YOU!!!!

What I liked:
The two MCs are adorable! This is a play on the 'enemies to lovers' trope (one of my favourites) though not quite the 'kill on sight' variety. While Nick might first come across as a grade a jerk, I understood his frustration and his rejection of an unwanted gift and position forced upon him. But he swiftly rose to the challenge, and his sensitive handling of the heroine later in the book will melt the frostiest heart hardened against his preceding jerk-ish behaviour. The heroine - Sakura - is quite justified in her initial assessment of him but I felt a touch too much jealousy over his position and talent coloured her behaviour. However, as we learn how broken she is, I admired her strength and resolve, supported by the hero, as she fought to find her own path. Those nervous of the SciFi tag should be reassured - other than being on an alien planet and some simple (and in places humorous) detail on alien anatomy and customs, this is light on the SF element and much more character driven romance and adventure that any romance reader should enjoy, more like ER/CSI set off world.

What I didn't like:
The opening sex scene, while certainly hot and well written, made me wince a couple of times. Haesi is clearly a masochist but it might leave some readers flinching. Please trust me that this is a very small proportion of the book and later sex scenes are far more sensual! I would also have preferred more SF elements, but then I'm an addict for my scifi.

In conclusion:
While this wasn't the same 'tear out your heart and stomp on it' rollercoaster of book one (or maybe I was just better prepared) it is a worthy successor in this series. You will need to have read book one to follow this as I don't think it would stand well alone even if it focuses on different main characters. A heartwarming sexy romance between two characters struggling to overcome troubled pasts and really be the saviours of the title for an alien race depending on them. Both make a journey of discovery and find ways to heal themselves as well as their alien allies. Recommended for those who like medical/adventure romances in exotic locations as it may be a little light on the SciFi elements for the SFR fans.

Steamy futuristic romance

Seven years have passed since the Anferthian invasion of Terr, as Earth is now called. Nick Bock, a lapsed healer, sought to escape the changing political climes and zone out rebuilding Terr’s music library, but the universe had other ideas. Soon he and a novice healer, Sakura Yamata, are embedded with the dissenters, a group of Anferthian warriors who opposed the invasion and kept Earth’s people from being completely annihilated.

The dissenters are very much in need of healing. They are growing ill at an alarming rate and conventional medical wisdom hasn’t helped. It’s up to the healers to suss out the problem, create an antidote, and to shut down the route of infection, all under the radar from a faction that now wants the dissenters dead.

Nick and Saku are opposites in many ways, but there’s no denying the spark of attraction that flares between them throughout the story. I had to keep reading to learn what would happen next. An engrossing action/adventure story set in a vastly different future world.

I received an advance copy of this book with no expectation of a review.
