In this enjoyable, entertaining and well-researched book, Julian Heath writes of the lives of the Neanderthals in Wales and Europe and in Mesolithic sites in Wales, and examines the Paviland 'Red Lady' find of 1822, hunter-gatherer communities, bead factories, and footprints - animal and human.
The author's enthusiasm for the subject makes this, potentially dry read, very lively. I loved the little touches of Welsh humor. There are some typographical errors, mainly parts of sentences that are repeated, but, overall, the book, including many drawings and photographs, is very well done and up to date.
An enjoyable and informative read about Palaeolithic and Mesolithic man, but the title is somewhat misleading as a large portion of the text refers to sites outside of Wales.
