Saffron Bryant is an Australian author with a passion for fantasy and science fiction. She began writing at a very early age and hasn’t stopped since.
She has a degree in Biomedical Science (with honours) and recently completed a PhD in chemistry at the University of Sydney.
Unfortunately her cupboard didn’t open onto Narnia, she didn’t get a letter from Hogwarts, and a strange man in a blue box hasn’t shown up… (here’s hoping for an old Wizard on my 50th!!)
So she spends her time writing stories and releasing them to the world.
~Happy Reading!~
Saffron is best known for her science-fiction action adventure The Nova Chronicles, which she describes as "Tomb Raider in Space".
This is supposed to be the final book in the Nova Chronicles Series. I really hope it's not. I would feel like I'd be losing a lot of good friends I've come to know over the last several years. Nova is the main character in this great series and in a review of an earlier book in this series I admitted I was in love with her. She has everything any manly man could want in a woman; she's smart, tough, a skilled warrior experienced with most forms of combat and weapons, she has her own Space Ship she's re-built from scrounged parts and a flying Labor-Bot with a wise-cracking AI personality. Oh, she can communicate with these last two mentally via an implant...what's not to love? As a very young child, Nova was abandoned at a "House" and taken in and raised by the Madam where she was expected to follow the normal "Career-Path" in these "Houses". Instead, wanting freedom to pursue her own paths, she sets off on a series of incredible adventures on many strange worlds. Her unique skills enable her to become a member of one of the best Bounty Hunter organizations where she is quickly recognized as wanting to be a "loner" but one with outstanding leadership abilities. Along the way she gradually and reluctantly makes a number of acquaintances that become true friends. Each of these are somewhat unusual and possess a variety of uncommon talents and attributes. These all come into play enabling Nova and company to solve many complex issues and escape from many seemingly impossible situations. I've read and immensely enjoyed each of the ten books in this thrilling series. They are written so that they can be enjoyed on-their-own but, if you're just discovering this author or series, do yourself a big favor and start from the beginning.
I really like the series and have read every book in it but I've always wondered why you would give your main character a "superpower" in the first book and then almost never use it. I have to admit that a lot of the decision to purchase every new book in the series was curiosity what was going to happen with the power. Bit disappointed that that arc was never continued.
