I play fast and dirty, both on the field and in the bedroom. It’s all a game. And this is one game I will win.

Ava Bennett is stubborn, smart…and has a body that makes grown men weep. I haven’t stopped thinking about her since that night. Five years ago. Now that fate has brought her back into my life, I know I’m the man for her–the only man. She just doesn’t know it yet. I might be a player, but I’m not playing with Alex.

I’m claiming her.

Warning: This filthy, short, over-the-top story of a secret baby and second-chance-love contains page after page of Kindle-melting dirty stuff. If you want a long, heart-warming read with no hint of naughty, you need to find yourself another author. Ava Kaye doesn’t do sweet and wholesome.

4 PUTTING HIM FIRST STARS

This is a very good story about two young lovers ripped apart by a lie of omission, aka The secret baby plot!
You know when the heroine decides it would be best for the hero not to know he is going to be a baby daddy! In this case I could see why she did this and honestly she is totally right!

I just don't like how she did not tell him right away after he makes it as a pro football player! That to me is unclear.

However, when he does find out about the baby, he has the most well adjust response here;

“What you did was terrible. Wrong. Selfish.” I open my mouth to defend myself but he presses his finger to my lips. “Let me finish.” He sighs. Hard. “But what you did was also brave. And selfless. And difficult.”

I could not give it 5 stars because his unfaithfulness during their separation. So it had to be a 4 stars for me.

No triggers and safe since their reunion, wit no OW/OM, no pushing or pulling.

Forgot to add that it has a bonus preview at the end. Because you're mine. It looks awesome in fact I think I will love it more!
Totally worth the dollar for this keeper download!

This is a re-review of this book. I adjust my review to reflect how I know feel about the content of this book. It's mostly the same but just I found the hero's attitude towards the break up too pragmatic. He did not fight it much and just went on to have his cake without the commitment.
She was too self sacrificing for me and I wished she had had sex with loads of other guys!
He did not deserve her loyalty here!!!

WHICH IS JUST STUPID!

I could not give it 5 stars because his unfaithfulness during their separation while she stayed true.
Also, the heroine kept the baby a secret from him. She took away his right to his child.
So it lost 2 stars for me.

There are no triggers and it's safe since their reunion, with no OW/OM, no pushing or pulling.

Worth the dollar for this download but it's on Kindle Unlimited so bonus!

Have you ever read a book and from the first few pages you just get the feeling that there's something off? Well, I had that feeling but instead of listening to my inner voice -who rarely steers me wrong - I kept going. The thing that kept me going was that the synopsis was good. I typically like second chance and sports related novels. I knew going into it that there was a secret baby and that this was fast and quick - typically not a problem AS LONG AS THERE IS A GOOD EXCUSE.

My problems completely surrounded the heroine but before I get to her I'm gonna let you know what the hero had going for him.

1 - He was possessive. From the moment he saw Ava again he wanted her and pursued her.

Now, what I didn't like about him (yes, there was only 1 positive thing about him)

1 - In the 5 years apart he never once though to go after her. Yes, I know she broke up with him BUT according to him he always loved her. Well, if thats the case then why not look her up? Why not seek her out? Why just continue living the fast life and hooking up with OW when you know the woman you love is out there??
2 - He was not celibate during the separation. Again, we know she broke up with him but he professed his constant love for her. Don't go sticking your dick into every willing woman while in love with someone else.

Ok...so now onto the heroine. There isn't a list of things that I liked about her so here's what I didn't.

1 - I like strong heroines. Ava, was not strong. I should have known and realized just how weak she was when after not seeing or hearing from the hero for 5 years she finds herself up against the wall ready for him to screw her within 15 minutes. Plus, she referred to herself as a "greedy slut" for him. No, just NO!
2 - She lost all sense when she was around him and didn't make him chase her at all. Again, ready to have sex with him within 15 minutes....
3 - She was celibate during the separation. Typically, I would be fine with this but considering she is the one who broke up with him I expected her to move on. Her being celibate didn't endear me to her character. It only made me roll my eyes.
4 - Her excuse for keeping the baby a secret. They had planned a life together and even picked out names for their future children. Yes, they were in high school but they were serious. Her excuses were pathetic considering how serious they were.
5 - This line right here...

"So all this time I've been waiting (and, yes, hoping) to see Caleb again, figuring if we were meant to be together, it would happen. Eventually"

While the heroine hoped that she would reconnect with Caleb and could tell them about their child she had NO ACTUAL plans to do so. She was going to keep his child from him indefinitely. THAT doesn't work for me. I didn't care for the heroine before but that pushed me over into the "I hate/loathe you" area.

Caleb's good points in no way out weighed Ava's bad so there is no way I could have ever liked this book. For some, it will work...but not for me.

Avery Kaye brings us another short steamy read.

This story focuses on Ava and Caleb. They were high school sweethearts and totally in love.

Caleb was going off to college to fulfill his dream of playing football. Ava finds out she is pregnant and instead of telling Caleb, she breaks up with him so she doesn't hold him back. (I hate hate hate that)

Fast forward 5 years, a chance encounter brings them back together. For Ava, it's time to face the music and tell Caleb about their child.

I am the first to admit that I love a pregnancy storyline. Even surprise pregnancies. What I don't like is when a heroine purposely chooses to not tell the hero about their child. No matter what, unless they are abusive, they deserve a choice. She took nearly 5 years of his child's life away from him. Not cool.

Caleb professed that he has loved her since they met in algebra class in high school yet he has slept with others.

I have loved this girl since I laid eyes on her in fucking algebra class . She dropped her calculator on the floor and it slid under my desk. I picked it up, handed it to her, and fell instantly in love. I've fucked a lot of girls since then. But I've never loved another. She was my first. She'll be my last. My only.

He says he doesn't do relationships beyond a "casual fuck". I had hope he was celibate after their breakup, but he's a famous athlete known as being a player. She of course has not been with anyone else.

Once they are together in this story again, he is totally devoted to her.

Ava and Caleb were high school sweet hearts. They broke up when he went to college. He is now a famous rich football star but he is single. A chance encounter brings Ava back into his life and this time he isn't letting her go. Ava has a secret. I love the secret baby trope! Sweet and steamy read but not safe. Hero was with others during separation but Ava was faithful to him! I loved the epilogue and how he made all her dreams come true!

I have no idea but my review I wrote a couple of days ago disappeared. Well, for a short erotic 2nd chance romance this book sucked BIG TIME. Starting with the MCs, who were away from each other 5 years. They met up again by luck. And the h acted like a whore ready to spread her legs to the hero in a parking lot and the hero acting as the manwhore he became. The heroine is a selfish slut (even if she was celibate for this 5 years) who acted completely immature and not a mother of a 4 year old boy. And she never planned in looks for him to tell him about the baby. She always thought what would be like IF she ever saw him again if they could have a second chance. This is completely rubish

I thought I was going to read a "Alexa Riley style" book. I know it's unfair,'cause, you know, different authors. But it's said it's a very steamy, alpha hero, insta love, hot sex, short book. So AR comes to mind. This book, though, a huge disappointment. The MCs were together in high school. She breaks up with him when she found out she was pregnant and didn't want to hold him back (how new and original) but I really hoped the reason he didn't tell him about the baby would be something completely different (I confess I started reading this book aware of the secret baby plot, something I hate, but for a short book I thought the author would be more original and find another reason for the h not to tell the hero about the baby. not such lucky). Well, lucky was the way they met each other after 5 years. Not getting into it. The point is there was zero chemistry and no sexual tension. I didn't feel their connection what made the sex scenes mechanical and "un-hot". The heroine acted like a immature slut with only sex on her mind. Zero maturity and she didn't act like a grown woman, mother of a 4 year old boy. This was a "reconnecting" kind of romance. In my head it would have more tension, build up, more feeling to their encounter. All I had was a woman acting like a whore and a man acting like the man-whore he became. Pitiful. This kind of short, insta everything works in AR books. This author had it terribly executed. And for such a short book it was also boring. There were other plot holes (very deep ones lol)I found. But this review would be as long as their book and it isn't worthy my time.

Caleb Rogers and Ava Bennett were high school sweethearts, they loved each other and were each other's firsts. Caleb was the star quarterback of the football team and had a very promising future which would lead him to the NFL. When he went to college the two of them broke up and it's been five years since they've seen each other. He's now back in Detroit playing pro football and living his lifelong dream. Ava had a dream too and that was to go to Parsons design school and become a fashion designer. Something happened and Ava was unable to pursue her dream but she's never stopped thinking about Caleb and she's never moved on. Caleb has also been thinking a lot about Ava, he's been with women since her but she is still the only woman he will ever love. After a game while leaving the stadium he sees a woman trying to fix a flat tire so he stops to help her and is shocked when he discovers it's Ava. Can the two of them pick up where they left off ?

Tamika. Well, what can I say? It was short.

Can't say it was sweet.

There's no plot here, there's just a lot of internal monologueing, the "surprise! toddler!" then some sex and then the end.

You know how this goes, lol. It was just so easy to click that button since it's in Prime. But there was no satisfaction to be had here. :(

Avery Kaye has done it again and brought a hot, short steamy read.

Caleb is a player on and off the field in this romance. Ava and he were high school sweethearts. Ava thought that she was doing the right thing and letting Caleb go off and fulfill his dreams and kept the biggest secret from him.....

A chance meeting finds Caleb with the love of his life and realising that all he wants is stood in front of him,and everyone else was a stop gap. He's not letting her get away again.

What is not to like, second chance love, steamy insta love, alpha male and HEA? Perfect short story.

Quick insta love book.

Second chance at love. Ava believed that she was doing the right thing by keeping her secret and sending Caleb away. Hoping that he will return to her one day. They meet by chance after she gets a flat tyre and he stops to help. Caleb never forgot his first love Ava, he might have been a player in the past but the minute he lays eyes on her again he realises that she is his past, present and future.

Great quick read with the right amount of heat!

She Never Told Him

Caleb comes home to begin his professional football career, and his fond rememberance of Ava, his high school sweetheart, yield to shock at seeing her later that night. Ava is a frustrating mix of ridiculous and steel-core solid, and Caleb is affable, focused, and way too calm.

Good book

This was a good short story to read. I liked the characters and the insta-love. I only wish it was longer to read.
