Not a bad book, but it needs major editing. The author seems very nice and knowledgeable. But this is all over the place.
And how many times do we get "we'll talk about this in another chapter"?! Jeez, if you need to mention things early on, mention them ONCE in the introduction/outline and then wait until the right chapter to talk about it.
The author also emphasizes the importance of phonology, but never says how/where to learn IPA.
One way to make this book a much better resource is to have a clear outline - with an overall step-by-step process? - with chapters that go straight to the point.
