Shadow of the Orc Star

A fast paced adventure with many races of beings working for and against the world. The characters are well written and even though the theme is typical, there are many twists incorporated in this tale to keep you reading. I found it very enjoyable and am looking forward to the next tale.

This time I take back my good words for book two. The series remains repetitive and needlessly grim, as for the new plotlines, they don't work, because the secondary characters are not as cool as Kealin. I guess that fans of classic series like DragonLance, Forgotten Realms and Ruin Mist will like these books, but for now, I want time out.

The last book i read.
Well i said after the last book that if nothing possitive happenes in this book that would be it for me and it is. In real life things may be this bleek and may suck but i dont read to remind myself how bad thay can be. The main guy had some kind of grate power and for three books now i have been waiting for something to happen with it and yet nothing. Dont wast your time with these books.

Quality is going down
The story line has become muddled and to many characters and events occur; consequently it impossible to know what's what or whose who.

Kealin has lost his parents in front of his very eyes and was charged with looking after a baby brother and he still has not found his sister but has discovered a brother he thought he had lost long ago. He travels still with Brethor and his brother and they are seeking a land called Ridannia however on the way there they are met by Ruak of the scions of starfall and they travel through the lost woods of Resip to the lands of Fikmark. They fight the order of Ur, the demon God of the Itsu together with the \king of Vueric who is still trying to keep his land free from the Protectorate's hands , he is aided finally by other elven kings and their elves and by the Amhe of Eh-Rin, the Sultan comes to defend the people of Vueric in good faith but is not happy to see the Protectorate on the horizon. This was another amazing book full of great sword and sorcery scenes, Kealin knew that they had to break the orc star to break the hold the evil wizard had over the hordes of orcs attacking Vueric. These books get more interesting as we read further into the series, onto book 4 now!

These books have been progressively getting darker. Which I have loved, many times when the first book has a somber ending, the following books are working towards making everything light and solved. But so far that hasn't been the case in the Half-Elf Chronicles series. This series has been a whirlwind of darkness, loss & disappointment, but also full of friendship, alliances and wins. No one is ever safe and there has yet to be a romance, thank goodness. (So far it hasn't been the time or the place, but too many times they are shoved in there anyways)
The battle scenes have all been well choreographed dances, and the line of who is good/evil or who is right/wrong has been pretty grey. I adore books that even the 'bad guys' have valid reasons for their actions.
Overall, I'm excited to start book 4 in this series, Kealin is a well built character.

In my opinion I considered this book/series as “high fantasy” at its best! Full of magic action intensity where by several times I had to break away and come back! Many of the incidents I did not want to believe were happening, because I cared. I still CARE! I care about the characters and especially their quest. I must admit the author’s writing is a page turner with vivid details. I am eagerly hopeful for justice. My emotional attachment to this story is strong because those characters of evil cannot keep winning. I am so ready for book 4!

Certainly a Twist!
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and thought that JT Williams handled the pov changes well. The only reason I dont give this story a 5 was because something weird happened in chapters 6 and 8 where a chunk of story repeated itself randomly (and did so in the previous book as well). Hopefully JT Williams will fix that! Otherwise I cant wait to read the next one!

Ever onward Rouge Elf fights on...
It is a good thing the Rogue Elf is a series. I can't get enough of him and ghost that valiantly fight along side him. Although this is a well written fantasy, it still holds true as to the depravity and betrayal man can and has bestowed upon one another. As always, J.T. Williams vivid story telling emerges me deep into the adventures. If you haven't started this series, I highly recommend you do so.

Shadow of the Orc Star (The Rogue Elf Book 3), my fourth highly enjoyable read from author J.T. Williams. A well written, entertaining read, with intriguing, well-developed characters. Slow to start, but when it took off I couldn't turn pages fast enough. “I received a free Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." I look forward to reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Such sad history
The half elf seems to find sadness all around him his brother lost then found but cursed his sister still missing but alive. This story continues with brother against brother in more ways than one. All the sadness is leading our half elf and breathlor to the ends they end up with in the other books an interesting story can’t wait to read more

Why did you have to add vampires? The series was going so well until that! This is not a story that has any need or reason to add vampires to the fight. You lost two stars because of the vampires. Otherwise the story moved along well and creatively. You had a total Lord of the Rings vibe going and then add Count Dracula.

Half-Elf book #3 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The adventure continues, troubles abound and a surprise or two that might just catch you of guard! I love it when that happens! This story is a little darker as it is dealing with war! Each book builds on the last and continues to get better and better. Holds the action well. 👍👍

Obviously, there was an EPIC war between orcs and the other races.
But the outcome? After all the characters went through — the blood, the sweat, the pain, they did NOT DESERVE THAT TWIST!!
Even so, tho it was heartbreaking and needless death, it was an amazing read.
(I actually read it while playing LOTR soundtracks HAHA)

The struggle continues

Frustrating series
I find it difficult to continue this series as the events/actions are becoming repetitive. The main character, three books in, has learned very little if anything at all from his past experiences making choices and events predictable.

Brutal. Kealin finds his parents & brothers. The battle that ensues is all it was foretold to be. (For better of worse.) The story continues in book 4 with Kealin at last finding his sister. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds.

Some Adventures Take More Twists Than Others
People thought dead are found to be alive and new friends are made. Mr. Williams keeps the action moving quickly in book #3. The first three books have been great, hopefully this trend will continue.

Not going to lie, I struggled a little in the middle with this book... it may have been the plot and writing or it may have just been my general dejected mood at that point in time, who knows *shrug* However, that ending well and truly got my attention! It was brutal and enlightening, and left me dying to pick up the next book! As with the previous two books, it is still pretty dark (no light at the end of the tunnel yet!) and I'm hoping to see more about Kealin's powers in the subsequent books. And I'm absolutely loving Jesia; I can't wait to get to know her better through the rest of the series 😍
As with previous two books, there are some minor spelling and grammatical errors that the author is fixing. Despite this, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and will be starting The Necromancer's Curse ASAP!

This is the best book of the series so far. Great story line and characters that won't disappoint. Keeps you reading without slowing down. Great Reading Everyone!

Getting Intense
Three books into this series and I am loving it. After getting adjusted to JT's faster paced writing style, I have found I don't want to put these books down until I finish them! This book was by far the most intense and I can begin to see a bigger plot playing out in the world. Excited to see where Kealin's adventures will take him next and what it means for the world as a whole!
I can't seem to get enough of this writing so now it's time to dig into his short story Arrowfall and the Saints of Wura trilogy next! I highly recommend picking these books up and giving them a read!

Kealin's journey continues in this book. He faces tough he decisions and surprises in this book. The world building continues nicely and the characters get even more complex and interesting as the story goes along.
