Beauty and the Beast as it’s never been told.

Riddled with bullets and left to die in Thailand, Wolfe is medivacked to the USA. He survives, recovering from wounds no man should be able to heal. Months later, his perplexed doctor lowers the dosages of his medications and Wolfe begins to change.

His powers awaken.

Kiara, his nurse at the rehabilitation village, thinks she only has to hand him over to Russian intelligence agents to save her parents from punishment. It won’t be that simple. Kiara isn’t safe.

The kidnapper becomes the victim.

When free of drugs, Wolfe becomes ferocious and animalistic in his desires and actions. What if a man who is almost an animal could command you to do anything he wanted? And you couldn’t resist…

Kiara may be taken past the point of survival.

Be careful who you dare to betray.

WARNING
This is a dark romance and written to be disturbing.

You’ll find some graphic scenes of violence and sex within these pages, plus a smidgen of horror. Though the ending may be sweet, this is a very kinky, twisted, and dark story.

This book has stunned me. Can a book be analytic and objective at the same time? Because with the amount of dark content (all consensual) multifaceted connection I felt in this story it is making me lose my perspective to sanity. This book was one of the best. Thank you Cari Silverwood for making me feel this way.

Wolfe was a creation of a top secret scientific experimentation. He was rescued from Thailand critically wounded with injuries so severe that improving was magic. But he recovered from injuries that should never have healed. Kiara was a nurse who was coerced and manipulated to keep an eye on Wolfe. When she was said to break Wolfe out of the hospital and hand him over, Kiara struggles with the change and intention of Wolfe's behaviour. Wolfe has two personalities - one animalistic and the other gentle and caring. He can mind control any woman. When Kiara was mind controlled she realises she likes it but it can be brutal and dangerous. She is a victim and adept person in her relationship with Wolfe. Their sex is a chaos of varying feelings. I really like it when inopportune sex time comes. Sometimes the unpredictableness is thrilling and in this case deviant.

This is a dangerous, twisted dark romance with depravity and disturbing content. There are few lose ends which the author kept it that way, keeping it vague. And there is a HEA so we can be satisfied and happy. I recommend this to the dark lovers of romance.

Edit: Read this book after The Dark Trilogy series. We may have much better background description.

Main Genres:

Science fiction, mystery, suspense, dark erotica, & dark romance.

Book Type:

This is a modern type of science fiction with dabs of paranormal (no shifters).

Spin-off:

You do not have to read the Dark Hearts series to understand Wolfe. He was only a minor character in book three of the Dark Hearts trilogy.

Good Stuff:

1) Batsh#t crazy coocoocachoo anti-hero.
2) Heroine solid and likeable.
3) Steady pace throughout.
4) I didn't figure out the mystery until it became obvious.
5) Kinky dark f#ckery.
6) Mmm yum darkness, not extreme dark, but nonetheless a good type of dark.
7) Sweet, although, a sick & twisty type of sweet.
8) Satisfying conclusion with no cliffhanger.

Bad Stuff:

Nope, nothing to see here, move along.

Quote from Wolfe:

"I’d chained her up because I was angry. Everyone got angry at their partner at some point."

Overall:

Really, really good. Highly recommended. Both my dark and sweet side were left very satisfied. Her best work yet, really just wow! Am I blinded by my love of mentally unstable anti-heroes? Noooo, okay maybe just a little, but it is still really super good. Deserves higher than 5 stars & I would give it more if I could.

I really recommend reading this, if you need more back story you might want to read it AFTER the Dark Hearts Trilogy

"We're never free. We can only dare to run the line between destruction and glory."

Whilst Wolfe is technically a stand alone story, it is set in the same world as the Dark Hearts Trilogy. These books contain a LOT of background that helps set the scene for this one and Wolfe actually features in the final book of the series. I know from having read Used (a short story set in this world), before any others, how important that world building is.

Please don't read this expecting a standard dark romance, that isn't what you'll get from Cari Silverwood. She likes to challenge the reader, provoke deep thoughts, mess with your head and provide lots of hot and kinky fun too. You also have to be prepared to read between the lines and look for the subtle clues. All of this is topped off with a whimsical and sarcastic humour that usually appears at the most inappropriate of times.

Some mornings, I half expected to wake and find a thorn barrier growing out there, or a for a little red riding hood to wander in and join us for breakfast.
I had the Wolfe already.

Wolfe and Kiara are an absolutely adorable couple. He might be verging on mad, somewhat evil, able to manipulate both her mind and body and with a very dubious history but there is also a massively sweet, kind, charming and loving man under the rough and ready exterior. Despite so many reasons to hate this man, there was just something about him that stole my heart. (And no Ms Silverwood, it wasn't the size of his cock - though it did help!)

Kiara is a good person caught up in a bad situation and trying to keep those she cares for safe. Before long Wolfe becomes one of those she cares for. She loves his gentle side, she loves his dominant side, she even quite likes his sadistic side, though the monster within somewhat scares her. I loved how she twisted the interpretation of his 'commands' in order to disobey whilst not disobeying - you've got to love a clever and devious woman!

We
I touched the band-aid on my neck. That word made us seem like some old married couple, and that was as far as you could get from the truth without catching a train.

With outside forces determined to consign Wolfe to experimental history, and the beast suppressing drugs running out, is there a future for this pair? Added into the mix are a handful of mysteries and some shocking discoveries. A few loose ends are left just that, loose. However this fits perfectly with the whole theme of 'what matters is not who we were, but who we are now'.

It had a very different feel to the rest of the series, strangely I found it 'gentler' even though this time the hero WAS the bad guy. There was less forcing and less, for want of a better word, 'mind-raping'. Unlike the majority of mesmers, Wolfe wanted Kiara to chose the darkness, not just force it on her.

My suggestion? Come join the journey into madness.

Warning: scandalous and kinky misuse of The Princess Bride in hardback.

Wolfe is ah-mazing. Vulnerable, yet he could easily kill you and rip you to shreds. Sweet, but he'll tie Kiara up and bite and whip until all reason is gone. Thoughtful and contemplative...when the beast is not in charge.

This story was great [dark] fun with spectacular sex. The characters are deep and multifaceted so I really felt them and connected.

Wolfe is a spin off from the Dark Hearts (Wicked Ways) trilogy, but may easily be read on its own.

I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review.

This just wasn't my kind of book. I found it really hard to become emotionally involved with the characters. In fact, it just seemed like the hero and heroine spent a lot of time with hardcore screwing!!! I do realize this is labelled as a BDSM theme, as well as dark; I have no issues with dark content; but for me there just was not a lot of emotion put into the hero and heroine. I found the book to come across as more clinical.

There are a lot of four and five star reviews out there for this one, so this could be the case of its me and not the story itself. For me though, I know it will be one of those stories that by next week I won't remember what it was all about.. A big pass from me...;-(

If you’ve read Cari Silverwood’s Dark Hearts series, you’ve become familiar with the man for whom this spin-off is named: Wolfe. Wolfe was the subject of top secret human experimentation, left to survive at the bottom of a missile silo in Thailand. When he is recued, his wounds seem too severe to recover fully from. His nurse, Kiara, enjoys watching him make milestone after milestone, amazed at the juxtaposition between his rough appearance and what appears to be a gentle and caring side. This will make it that much harder to hand him over to Russian intelligence. Under threat of harm to her parents, she feels she has no other option. As his medication dosages are lowered, Wolfe’s hidden powers and his animalistic begin to take over. Kiara needs to keep him in line as they made their escape. But Wolfe has other plans and Kiara might just find that she likes the beast a bit more than she anticipated.

This has to be one of my top Cari Silverwood releases to date. I am a massive fan of her dark and dubious consent erotica, and Wolfe doesn’t disappoint. It’s very much a character and relationship driven story. While there is some well written and chill-inducing action/suspense, as we’d expect from Ms. Silverwood, it doesn’t overshadow the time we spend with Kiara and Wolfe. For the most part, the story is told from each of their alternating perspectives. I have never found this jarring as a reader where this author is concerned as the action and thought processes flow smoothly from one scene to the next. Kiara is bright and not one to back down from her desires. She’s one of my favorite types of characters: logical and bright, not a pushover, but able to cope with the discoveries she makes about herself along the way. It was so much fun watching her go from mind-controlled victim to complicit party in her relationship with Wolfe. Wolfe alternates from sweet and flirty to sadistic sex god at varying times, and the sex is mild-blowingly, OH SO GOOD. I’ve read it all in through the years, and unfortunately it’s all too common for me to love a story, but not find much interest in the sex. I don’t need to be shocked, but I do need the chemistry to melt the pages, the dirty talk to be dirty, but not trying too hard, and the kink level to go beyond a little slap and tickle. Wolfe brings all that and more. When I get sucked in to a scene so hard that I fail to notice the chaos around me, you know it’s good. That should be enough to warn you that the content isn’t always warm and fuzzy and the line of consent is ridden quite hard. Not a safeword to be found. I routed for Wolfe and Kiara the entire way through. I wanted them to find their way to happiness and I think other readers will too. In masterful fashion, Ms. Silverwood found a way to make a dubious consent novel about the HEA and I finished smiling a big fat goofy smile.

“Awesome and creepy. All at once.”

I read this book after Cari Silverwood's "Dark Hearts" trilogy, in which the eponymous "Wolfe" makes an appearance. This book works well as a stand-alone, but you'll have greater appreciation of the world Cari has wrought if you read "Dark Hearts" first. And they're great books.

This is a dark read. Triggers abound. Horror and graphic sex and violence. Brilliantly written if these are your jam.

Wolfe is the bad guy but he's a good person. Kiara finds herself on the wrong side of the law for reasons beyond their control. Together their story has shades of Beauty and the Beast and of Marvel's Wolverine and Kilgrave characters wrapped up in a mystery/romance/road movie. And it's very good. Much recommended.

Leigh's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Oh my goodness. Walt Disney never imagined this kinky beast!

In this spinoff from the Dark Hearts series, we get to know Wolfe. While it is certainly a stand-alone novel, it makes more sense having a background in who Wolfe was at his most savage and understanding the mind-control bug that we were introduced to in the previous series. It makes Wolfe’s abilities to mentally control women against their will less random, and puts it into perspective.

Wolfe was a savage. A monster that fed on sex and women through mind control and brute force. Rescued out of the jungles of Thailand and brought back to the US, he is a medical miracle to those that are helping him recuperate, and a mystery to himself as he can’t recall his past. He was a thoroughly fascinating character in the Dark Hearts series, and I was so excited at the idea of getting to read a book dedicated to this anti-hero.

Cari Silverwood did not disappoint. Wolfe was literally a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. When medicated he could be mild mannered and docile. When not, he was feral and animalistic, craving sex and violence and control. Kiara, the nurse that was sent to take care of him and ultimately abduct him, was an interesting character as well. She was torn between her duty to follow orders from outside forces and her compulsion to follow orders from Wolfe. As her time with him increases, she finds herself more and more attracted to this man that has turned the tables on her, kidnapping his abductor instead, and she can’t tell if it is her own free will, a sort of Stockholm syndrome, or if Wolfe’s presence in her mind that is making her fall in love with this man.

Their romance is gritty and the consent is dubious. Is Kiara consenting or is she being compelled? It is never truly clear, but it’s a fascinating and darkly erotic journey as Wolfe struggles to understand his past, discover who he used to be, and figure out how to survive.

As much as I enjoyed this story, I wish I got a better understanding of the experiment that Wolfe was a part of in Thailand. Why did he react so differently to the “Mesmer bug” than others? What happened to turn him into an animal that could ultimately be controlled, as opposed to the other mesmers that were, for the most part, just without conscience? And what happened to Kiara’s family? She needed to deliver Wolfe to the people who captured her parents, but what became of them?

Regardless, and simply put, I love Cari Silverwood’s writing. Whether it’s the darkness or the mind games, I’m not sure, but they are always sure to be an escape to a questionable world of pleasure and pain. Wolfe is no different and delivers quite a disturbing punch, leaving me wishing I could find out more about this unique specimen.

I love this story !!!!

I like dark stories. But sometimes there isn’t a good equilibrium between abuse and love. This one was perfect for me .
The sex scenes were dirty , violent , but so exciting. Wolfe is the perfect character . Kiara is intelligent and brave, she is perfect for him.
A love story between a sadist and a masochist.
Wolfe done terrible things, to others and to Kiara . But he loves her . He fought his desire to kill her ( he almost killed her multiple times) , to be the man she needs . Kiara loves his both sides, and accept the possibility that she might be killed by him.
I really enjoyed this book.
This Mesmer universe created by Cari Silverwood , is really good, for the fan of depraved , violent, and non-con stories, with romance .
I highly recommend it for those whom enjoy those kind of books .
Few people will understand the romantic part, when there’s so much violence, but I can see it .
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Oh my gawd....just when you think Cari Silverwood couldn't push the envelope any further....she brings us Wolfe. If you are a fan of her Dark Hearts series, then you don't want to miss this spin off.

The monster that was hiding deep in Thailand is brought to light and is sent back to the US to receive treatment for wounds he should have never healed from. Kiara is an unsuspecting nurse who gets caught up in something she's not quite sure about just to save her mother and step father from certain harm from the Russian government. The monster that had been laying dormant in Wolfe slowly starts to awaken once his medication is lowered, just when Kiara breaks him from the rehab facility to take him to her handlers. That's when things start turning a bit sideways. Kiara quickly realizes why the Russian government is interested in Wolfe. This is one wild ride and you never know what to expect next. Like always, the sex scenes are mind blowing and panty melting and you find yourself so consumed with the characters, you don't know if you should love them or hate them or a mixture of both. Like with all her books, Wolfe will leave you wanting for more. Believe me, I've already started begging!

What if the monster in one book is actually the Prince in another? That's exactly what has happened in Wolfe.
Wolfe is a spin off character from the Dark Hearts Trilogy. Now you don't need to read that series before you read Wolfe, but you define will once you've finished Wolfe.

Wolfe has been captured from Thailand and brought back to a hospital to be rehabilitate. There he meets Kiara, a nurse who had her own agenda on why she needs to keep Wolfe as close to her as she can until her handlers can take him. As the plot unfolds Kiara won't know what to do for the best especially when she runs out of the drug that she's been giving Wolfe. What will happen then?

As with all of Cari Silverwoods books the writing is outstanding, characters are intriguing and while your reading your thinking 'wow! her imagination is amazing' in regards to the storyline and all I can say about the sex scenes, is 'wow that's so hot, where's my fan?'

I'd highly recommend this 5 star read.

What can I say about Wolfe, where to began even. Cari brings it to us large and in charge. There’s a saying ~Let sleeping dogs Lie~

This amazing, scary, passionate deep and dark man. To me he was almost like an onion, you need to pull back layers to get him. Then again did we really ever get Wolfe?

The beast within, just hovered under the skin when it surfaced it was like no other. He snapped his control out like a whip, you could do nothing but comply... You didnt want to do nothing. So wrong, deadly, dark you need to fight but cant. You’re consumed by both man and beast.

I truely love how Cari’s mind works, this spin from her Dark Heart series the characters consume you. You get wrapped up in their personalities, their fears, their weakness and their strengths. I enjoyed Wolfe immensely and if you’ve read her dark before then I recommend you read this. It will grab your mind and hold you in its embrace. Enjoy.

BIG-ASS DISCLAIMER: I edited this book so I can't rate it – that's just gauche. What I will say is oh my dear ducking fog, when I had my suspicions that Cari would write a story for Wolfe, I knew it was going to be hazardous to my sanity. This book needs huge-ass warning signs and yes, if you're sensitive about violence and bloodshed, mixed in with a heady blend of erotica, then this is probably not the book you're looking for. THIS IS A SAVAGE, SAVAGE BOOK THAT HAS TEETH. IT BITES. And then some.

When i finished the Dark Hearts trilogy,i really wanted to know what happened to Wolfe....even though his part was a small one,it left a need....a need to know this tortured soul wasn't as dark as he seemed to be. The man Kiara sees, the real man underneath the savage.....Cari shows us in a way only she can who Wolfe is and who he becomes to Kiara. Loved it!

"True love didn't always look the same to everyone. Inconceivable? No. Love sometimes meant the cruelest torture."

Fair warning Wolfe is not for the faint of heart. His and Kiara's story is one of darkness, violence, blood and is completely dubcon in some parts. However, Wolfe is also filled with romance, erotic sex, mystery and the ability to make the reader question so many things. As a spin off from the Dark Hearts trilogy, fans will have already have some knowledge of Wolfe but his story can easily be read alone.

I could not wait to experience more and more of Wolfe and Kiara's life as I read each page, yet there's moment where you will need to pause and take time to ponder actions and beliefs to fully appreciate the amazing storytelling of Cari Silverwood.

Wolfe is a spin off from the Dark Hearts (Wicked Ways) trilogy, but can be read on its own.
This is a Dark romance and some scenes may be disturbing to some.

Wolfe by Cari Silverwood was a very dark & erotic 5++ star read.
Mind F#ck, Dark Dangerous and Erotic Alpha, Hot nurse, some very dark and graphic sex scenes.

As I’m writing this review I am still struggling for the right words. I can’t help but be repetitive with the “WTF did I just read” when it comes to Cari Silverwood's great dark stories.

Wolfe is in a US hospital recovering from his wounds he received in Thailand. He has no memory of who he is.

Kiara is Wolfe’s nurse and has to hand Wolfe over to protect her family.
Kiara has only one task, bring Wolfe to her house for 1hr and then hand him over. How hard can that be? Unbeknownst to Kiara, Wolfe has regained his powers and Kiara quickly becomes the victim in a hot and scary twist.

What was I? I didn’t have a name for that. I knew I could control her, knew I could make this little female do my bidding. I could make her my slave and she’d like it. She’d like it so much.

“I can see you. Nightmares can see in the dark.”

Kiara is being controlled with her mind, she is struggling to understand how this is happening. We also see a sexual side to Wolfe that is very dark and dangerous and if not controlled can become deadly. Kiara is struggling with so many feelings, does she or doesn’t she want Wolfe? She at times yearns for his touch and penetration. How can someone being held captive have such feelings for this dark man?

Kiara discovers a way to keep the beast under control, what will happen when he discovers her secret?

Who is watching and following Kiara and Wolfe?

“We’re never free. We can only dare to run the line between destruction and glory.”

When she could see me, her gaze latched on. I was her messiah, her Bringer of Pleasure, her Beast.

There is so much more to this great story. We get to see all sides to this dark and dangerous man, and I can’t help but be scared for Kiara in what the future may hold. The sex scenes were off the charts hot, scary and very dark. The things that Wolfe used on Kiara made me flinch at times and squeeze my legs together. I also had tears at times. What will happen when the captive starts to fall for her captor? Can she tame the beast?

Wolfe can be read as a stand alone but I highly suggest that you read the Dark Hearts trilogy. This will help you understand Wolfe’s powers and what can be done with them. If you like dark erotic, disturbing, twisted and so much more darkness, Wolfe is definitely your kind of book. I want more of Wolfe and Kiara, I’m hoping that Cari has plans to continue their story. I’m not done with them yet. This man scared me and turned me on all in the same scene, I WANT MORE!

Thank you Cari Silverwood for bringing me into your world once again.

OMG I read this a while back and I could have sworn I'd done a review!!! Arghhhhh I hate it when I lose a day/week/month!

No way can I not write a raving review for Wolfe as I bloody loved it again.

Now here's the thing, I didn't know how Cari was going to take Wolfe's story ie in what direction and blimey she wrote it in a way I wasn't expecting at all. Now I loved and I mean loved the spin on Wolfe and his 'abilities' I doubly loved how Kiara worked on keeping him in check but also growing into herself and her desires whilst trying to tame the beast.

This book will stay with me a long time, even time a few months after I have read it I can remember my feelings and my enjoyment and my breath-holding moments. I could feel myself fully immersed in their story, I, like Kiara, had no clue which Wolfe would be coming home each night/trip it all added to the suspense around them both finding themselves.

This reiterated again my absolute love of Cari's work, she's diverse in her writing and encapsulates so much in each book that revolves around the common ground of Dark Hearts and the mind control yet comes with a different angle and forages a new paths each time.

Spellbinding book again on scenes you don't want to enjoy reading but find you really, really do for some absurd reason that I have no idea how to explain, other than I really must like be taken right of my depth into dark, squirmy situations!

I received Wolfe (thank you, thank you, thank you!) in return for an honest review (I am SO sorry it's so late! and I feel truly dreadful it is so late! But hand on heart, ye-gads it were bluddy awesome again!

Wow!! What did I just read?? That was really something else! This book was definitely dark, and violent, and steamy!! This book appeals to that dark little side that people don't want to admit to having, the part that is fascinated by dark sex and violence and dubious consent and other things that fall under the "you shouldn't like that, it's just plain wrong" category.

Despite what some people said, it really did have a story line, besides the kinky sex. It was a mystery, a suspenseful thriller with a good dose of romance thrown in. At the end, I was still left with questions, and a burning desire for more Wolfe. The author leaves you to draw your own conclusions about one or two questions, which makes for interesting debate with your friends if they've read the book too! I will definitely be reading her other books!

My first Cari Silverwood book and I will definitely be reading more from this author.

A dark romance with a paranormal twist. This was an intense but smoking read that pushes the boundaries of morality and sanity to the edge.

Wolfe was a fascinating character with lots of different facets to his personality, the two of the most distinct being polar opposites, kind and gentle man, to ferocious and primal beast of a man. His special quality was twisted and deviant in nature, it sent shivers down my spine. This man left me wide eyed and agape with shock and a touch of arousal.

It was depraved and dark with lots of twists, and I inhaled this story.

Wolfe was written in true Cari Silverwood fashion. She takes a good story, mixes it with a little sexy, and a lot of dark. (well maybe a lot of sexy too). Cari really does know how to draw in her reader, hooks you so that you have to read a book in one sitting and then makes you love her characters that she has written about. I always enjoy reading Cari’s books.

Wolfe is a spin off from the Dark Hearts Trilogy. You don’t have to read them to read this book. But, I do recommend that you read them but, only because they are very good books to read too.

I usually write notes as I read my books and I think it is funny that the only thing that I wrote in my notes is that Wolfe is a biter. Well at least I think it is funny and sexy too.

I loved this dark romance and is Wolfe’s and Kiara’s story. I will let you read the synopsis for yourselves as the author does a far better job than I do. Just know that I think this is one hawt book! I look forward to reading more by Cari Silverwood.

Oh and also, in true Cari Silverwood fashion please read the warning. Here it is again just in case you missed it.

WARNING: This is a dark romance and written to be disturbing. You’ll find some graphic scenes of violence and sex within these pages, plus a smidgen of horror. Though the ending may be sweet, this is a very kinky, twisted, and dark story.

I loved the book! 5 Dark and Biting stars for me.

Dark and Brutal

Wolfe is a spin-off of The Dark Hearts trilogy. It follows Wolfe's escape from Thailand and return to the U.S. Once there he is placed in a rehab facility where he meets Kiara, a nurse. But he's on so much medication that none of his previous power of controlling women is effective and his beastly actions are masked.

But Kiara has another job to complete. She's an unwilling Russian spy who has been co-opted (through threats to her parents safety) to kidnap Wolfe and turn him over to other spies.

This story is quite brutal in many regards, certainly more so than in the Dark Hearts trilogy. I did consider abandoning it a time or two due to this. But I ultimately read to the end. If you can handle the violence it's worth the read.

Cari Silverwood does it again!! Wolfe, who we briefly met in the third book in the Dark Hearts trilogy is showcased. A man known as a monster in Thailand after undergoing unspeakable horrors at the hand of Johannes. He's brought to the U.S. to heal. Kiara, his nurse, is fascinated by this man who can almost grow flowers on rocks. Kiara, in an effort to save her step father from being put in a Russian jail, makes a deal.
The book moves quickly, the writing crisp, but again, delves into dark erotica, as only Cari can write. Some things so depraved, I winced.
Cari has another huge hit ready to explode!!

Fairytale remastered

Disney glorified the fairytales with talking animals and Princes that had soft hearts. This fairytale is more like the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale; dark and seductive.
