I'm a heroin addict. A junkie. A whore. I'll do anything to get my next fix.

Anything.

Including walking right onto the property of Austin's most ruthless and feared drug lord to beg for some H. I don't know his name, only that people call him Boss. Oh, and that he won't think twice to put a bullet in my head.

But like I said, I'll do anything to get my next fix. Even if it costs me my life.

Or changes it forever.

Heather C. Leigh is the author of the Amazon best selling Famous series. She likes to write about the 'dark' side of fame. The part that the public doesn't get to see, how difficult it is to live in a fishbowl and how that affects relationships.

Heather was born and raised in New England and after spending 15 years in Atlanta, GA, currently lives north of Houston, TX with her husband, 2 kids, and French Bulldog, Shelby.

Heather loves the Red Sox, the Patriots, and anything chocolate (but not white chocolate, everyone knows it's not real chocolate so it doesn't count) and has left explicit instructions in her will to have her ashes snuck into Fenway Park and sneakily sprinkled all over while her family enjoys beer, hot dogs, and a wicked good time.

My favorite authors are Dan Wells, Ken Follett, and Stephen King.

Happy reading!

I'll admit, as a native Texan, this first caught my attention because it's set in Austin, and I'm always curious how we're perceived. First, I've never heard an Austinite say "howdy" unless they were being sarcastic, but I'll let that slide because all the geography references were right. I was also skeptical because I can't picture Austin having a huge heroin market as described (weed, yes, but heroin? Nah...). BUT, since I don't know much about the drug scene, I could be wrong. Now, on to the story...

This is not at all what I expected. It had such potential for my dark loving heart--a heroin addict that would do anything for her next fix, wandering on to a drug lord's property only for her to become his property. He's described as ruthless, terrifying, a man not to be f'ed with, except...

He's not.

Who Boss is--a man who gives countless second chances. He's a man who lets his subordinates disrespect him time and time again, all while saying he really should do something about that insubordination.

Constant threats, zero action.

He's a man who tells a woman who hits/smacks him, "That was your one mistake. Make another and you won't live to see tomorrow." And then he lets her smack him not once but two more times without reprisal.

He's a man who is obsessed with his appearance and cleanliness to the point of annoyance. (I get that he has OCD. He loves his suits and hates when they get dirty, but boy is this point driven home. Did I mention he loves his suits? Because it's mentioned in the book 40+ times...) But despite all this, "Miri was afraid. Of (him). She should be, of course. (He) was a very dangerous man who had done very terrible things." Sorry, buddy, just saying it doesn't make it so...

Now for Miri...good gravy she was a petulant, annoying mess. She got angry and lashed out over the stupidest things, never taking into consideration the danger she was in by popping off to the biggest, baddest drug lord in the city. Then again, he didn't turn out to be all that bad, so maybe that's why. Still, she didn't know that at the time, and it annoyed me to no end. This man took you in instead of killing you, cleaned you up, and you get mad because he treats you like a nothing junkie whore. Umm newsflash, you are a junkie whore. AND, the kicker to all this was that he only said mean words to make her feel this way. He never once took advantage of her, took her against her will, etc... This is all hurt feelings. Bleh. I can't even tell if it's inconsistencies in the writing or if it's just Miri's airhead character at times, i.e. describing Boss as protecting her, threatening his employees, "likely having one killed for attempting to rape me" when earlier she said, "I watched him kill the guy right on his driveway."

As I mentioned, Boss never takes Miri against her will. For over half the book, he fights the battle of I'm no good for her, but there's just something about her until he just can't take it anymore while she vacillates between being angry over him ignoring her and being so hot for his bod that she just can't refuse those piercing blue eyes.

His ability to intimidate as a "drug lord" was a joke, his Alpha-ness as man was non-existent, and his overall dominance was lacking. Miri was such a flat character that the only thing I learned about her in the whole book was that she had a crap childhood, misses her friend Cat, and can work on motorcycles. Boss only knows the last two, yet he manages to fall irrevocably in love with her.

This ends on a cliffhanger, and despite my OCD (which rivals the MMC's in severity), I have no desire to continue on.

And sidenote: The phrase is "I couldn't care less," not "I could care less." This probably shows up 20 or more times. But, despite that, the writing/editing was well done, so I'm adding a star because I respect that so much.

Jagger is the drug lord of Austin. People call him 'Boss Man.' He is a man to be feared and nobody fucks with him. Ever.

Therefore, when a strung out female junkie manages to get past his security team and ends up on his front lawn, his reaction to her surprises not just his staff, but himself.

"On the ground, my knees skinned, my body battered, my mind and skin squirming as if they were crawling with bugs, I covered my face with my filthy hands and sobbed. How did this become my life?"

It's very confronting for him to see the impact of the drugs, he has sold, on this young woman. In fact it brings back some memories he would rather forget. However, there is something about this girl that is pulling at him on a much deeper level. Maybe he can seek some redemption for himself if he helps her.

Miri was desperate to get her fix when she made the drastic decision to show up the drug lord's home. All she needs is a little bit of H and she will be on her way. Boss Man has a different plan for her and this man who so many people fear is slowly showing her a different side to him.

"He lowered his head and his breath ghosted across my neck. I shuddered and a whimper escaped my throat, the result of a horrifying combination of lust and fear."

This was an intense exciting read for me. A really unique plot, the story moves at a fast pace and then there is a big giant cliff hanger! I cannot wait to read Jagger!

I liked this one. Miri & the Boss were characters that grew to me and I enjoyed their chemistry and their scenes together. My objection was how the Boss seemed a softie for a drug lord, but slowly I understood the deal with him. I'm hanging from a cliff after that ending and now I definitely need to read the continuation!

She was mine. My property. My fiery temptress. My broken doll.

Miriam Murphy, aka Miri, has been living with her sort of but not really boyfriend, Mason. During the last six months Mason got her hooked on heroin providing her with limitless doses as a way to keep her indebted to him. The heroin kept me a prisoner, and Mason used me for sex on his whim whenever and however he wanted.

Did I really come to Mason’s boss’s house to beg for a hit of H? The house of the most feared and ruthless drug lord in Austin? One who threatened my life more than once, then locked me up like a criminal, with the Boss being the judge, jury, and if he so desired, my executioner?
Yes. Yes I did.

Boss Man, aka Boss, a ruthless drug lord who became the Boss at a very young age after taking out the previous drug lord. He is merciless and rules without conscience, expecting his commands to be followed up without question and immediately. Not doing so is punishable by death. Yet, when this dumb shit girl managed to get past my highly trained, very well paid guards Boss decides to take care of her. It was almost as if she were sent here as penance for my past failures to take care of my mom and sister.

Boss is a temperamental man with OCD tendencies all stemming from his past. He believes their will be no salvation for him but it looks as is somewhere deep inside he does have a heart. He set out to helping Miri to a drug-free live, far from his violent world an thus giving her a second chance, slowly weaning Miri off heroin without her knowledge, giving her smaller and smaller doses each day. Until Fuck, she’s stunning. Now that Miri was completely off the poisonous drugs and had gained some much needed weight, I finally saw the woman she was meant to be.

The two of them embark on a sexual relationship much to the dismay of Boss's lieutenant Milo. This book is a quick and easy read with a bit of darkness and ends with a cliffy.

Part of a serie that must be read in order:

Junkie feels like a gray romance to me. Not exactly dark, but isn't fluffy either. I'm not sure what kind of reader will appreciate this story. As a dark romance lover, I think the author is playing too safe, the plot isn't edgy enough. If I were to switch myself into a contemporary romance lover, I think the hero is too much of a menacing ass to be swoon over.

Miri, is the junkie who stumble upon the drug lord, the Boss . I didn't get to know much about her background or why she got hooked with heroine beside the basic stuff. I wish we can delved deeper into her story.

Boss, is the drug lord of Austin. He seems to be quite an enigma with his ambiguous background and his anonymous status. I spent half the book not even knowing his real name. When he caught Miri lurking in his property he decided to keep her, or imprisoned her, depends on your view. He seems like a dangerous and deadly kingpin to me in the beginning, but the presence of Miri is definitely making him soft. I'm not sure whether is a good or a bad thing.

I like both the hero and the heroine as an individual. There is something about the close off and OCD drug lord that you want to uncover his true nature. I want to see him lose his cool. My favorite part of the story is seeing how he is being so protective of Miri and seems to genuinely care for her well being.

As for Miri, I want to see her clean and love her life. They have this delicious sexual tension going on that got me hooked. But it just seems to drag on a tad too long until the sexual tension turned into sexual frustration. The hot and cold way they treat each other drives me crazy. And even after all the mushy stuff they said to each other, their relationship is so fragile that a little hiccup can drive them apart.

I know we don't accept our men getting physical with women. I don't accept women getting physical with men either, unless the circumstances warrant it. In this case, not only Miri get physical with the Boss once, but twice. I felt a little bothered by that.

Anyway, with the cliffhanger that took place at the end, I'm anxious to see what will happen to Miri. I hope in the next book they will stop this back and forth stuff and show me something solid and strong.

So.... the premise I loved.
The 'controlling crime Boss/drug lord falls for the fucked up junkie' works in a lot of ways, but there was something about the writing that was off.
It was crazy repetitive- drove me nuts- and I found myself skimming around 70%. I actually loved the last 15% of this more than the rest and I'm even curious how it all plays out.

Title: Junkie
Author: Heather C. Leigh
Category: Romance, Mafia
Series or Standalone: Part of a series, Book #1
POV: Dual
Plot: 4
Characters: 4
Scorching Level: 4
HEA: Not telling

I was very excited to read this book!
Miri is a drug addict desperate for her next fix. Abandonned by her good for nothing boyfriend who only uses her and uses drugs to manipulate her, she dares to step foot in Austin's most feared drug lord's house.
Boss is a man to be feared. His seedy business is profitable and he knows how to handle his operation. He values his time and his privacy, so he never expected to have to deal with a junkie who sneaked into his house to score some H.
She is filthy and frail; he is powerful and dangerous. Miri is a problem Boss Man must deal with but what happens when a junkie falls for her drug dealer? Read to find out!
I enjoyed the book. The storyline flowed smoothly and the characters were interesting. The book will be completed in two parts, so naturally be prepared for a cliffhanger. The plot twist towards the end fell a little flat for me mostly because I found it a bit cliche, but other than that, I loved the book
I cannot wait for the next book!

This is a dark and twisted story with a surprising amount of heart. With an unlikely romance that is full of passion and intensity set in the dangerous world of drug trafficking, where violence, danger and murder are an everyday part of life, this book captivated me from the very beginning, and I loved it!

Austin’s drug underworld is ruled by the ruthless man known only as ‘Boss’. He killed his predecessor to get where he is and he rules an unstable kingdom, fighting every day to retain his place in the delicate hierarchy of the world he inhabits. Miri is a strung-out heroin addict, and we meet her when she is in the beginnings of withdrawal. Desperate for her next fix, she rocks up to the Boss’ compound looking for her drug-dealing ‘boyfriend’… or in fact anybody who can give her what she craves.

Known as a cold and emotionless killer, Boss surprises himself, and his men, by bringing the pathetic girl into his home. He feels somewhat responsible for her condition and, wanting to make amends for mistakes in his past, he feels the need to take care of her. Miri proves that she despite her condition, she is a strong, feisty woman, and it sparks an interest in the Boss that he hasn’t experienced before. So he decides to keep her.

I was trapped in a bizarre, luxurious prison, completely at the mercy of Austin’s fiercest drug lord, and from what I knew, that title was earned deep in the trenches of brutality and death.

What does he want? Nothing comes without strings attached. Nothing.

I loved the dynamic between these two! The book is written in dual POV so we get to see exactly what they’re both going through, and I loved the complexity of these characters! Their backgrounds are well developed, and the growth that they show throughout the story is realistic, intriguing and really well done. I love Miri’s strength and tenacity, and I adored the slow reveal of the Boss as Jag, the man behind the fearsome exterior. The constrasts existing within him were explored really well.

God, I wanted to wrap her in my arms until her pain went away. But I wasn’t comfort. I wasn’t peace. I was hate and violence and war.

Despite their differences and their complicated situation, the chemistry between Miri and Jag is fantastic! Their attraction to each other is evident from the very start, and when they act on those feelings… damn! The sexy time is hot, passionate and so, so intense! But it was also so much more.

“Jesus, Miri. You’re so goddamn fucking sexy. Everything about you drives me crazy. You think you’re ruined? It’s you who’s going to ruin me.”

“You make me feel safe. I want to be with you. I want to be yours.”
“Then you’re mine.”

But it’s a dangerous world they are living in, and the two sides of Jag’s life are wonderfully blended to create a love story with a dark and gritty feel. His protectiveness over Miri and the emotion she evokes in him is gorgeous, but we also see the brutality and control that he demonstrates in all things, the ruthlessness with which he deals with those who wrong him, and the violence that is an everyday part of his life. It adds a complexity to his character that I absolutely loved and I find him absolutely fascinating! But his enemies are closing in and Boss is facing a threat like never before.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s fast paced and exciting with a great mix of danger, violence, sex, romance and suspense. It all builds to a climactic cliffhanger which is predictable but still exciting, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next instalment, Jagger.

4 stars.

A wild ride of addiction and angst. Junkie gave me that violence I crave, the build-up I need, and the grit I love.

Miri, a drug addicted, lost soul looking for her next hit finds herself in the clutches of a ruthless drug lord. She'd do anything for her next hit. Without fear of impending repercussions she may face. Boss, the head of drug operations in TX. A violent leader. A tragic past. A way to redeem himself.

"God, I wanted to wrap her up in my arms until her pain went away. But I wasn’t comfort. I wasn’t peace. I was hate and violence and war."

I appreciated their connection, it wasn't lust or even love at first sight. It was a dangerous game of give and take. I loved the build-up, that slow release of longing, it kept me on the edge of my seat. I was devouring every page begging for that final moment of closeness.

"Opposing magnets drawn together no matter how hard they tried to stay apart. I wanted her more than I’d wanted anything in my life, and I wasn’t used to denying myself."

The story is a bit dark. Drug use, murder, and all the grit you can imagine from drug dealers. I crave violence in my books, this one had a good amount of it, add in the fireworks of the two main characters and I couldn't stop reading. Boss was brutal, BUT there was that little bit of light shining through. I love the anti-heroes to stay true to their character and Boss did. Miri slowly unravels the man beneath the monster. While the monster slowly unravels the woman beneath the junkie.

"Baring your dirtiest, darkest secrets was always more difficult than baring your skin."

If you like dark romance, this one is for you. The darkness is within the story not the passion that brings everything together. I'd totally recommend to romance readers, although the story is dark, the romance was on the lighter side to all the madness. The majority of my reading is dark, you should probably take that in to consideration.

Holy Smokes. Just... wow. After reading this book, I went totally speechless then had a wicked book hangover. Heather C. Leigh is an amazing author and she took big risks with this book. Everything I didn't expect it to be yet hoping it would be, Junkie took me on a thrilling ride that had me on the edge of my seat and left me with chills.

Junkie was... brilliant, mad, intense, passionate, dirty, raw, gritty, and powerful. This book is one that is going to rock your world and you'll feel all the way down to your core. Junkie is not for the faint of heart. It is not flowers, glitter and roses. This book was toxic and brutal yet I couldn't help but be addicted to the pages as I read this book.

From the gripping beginning to that killer ending, this book took me to levels that I never knew I had. Heather C. Leigh has a brilliant mind and this is definitely her best book to date. I cannot wait to get my greedy hands on Jagger to satisfy this craving for the dark yet beautiful duet. Get ready for an explosive journey that will hit you hard.

I highly recommend this book.

Yikes I need book two now. That was a great read. I've started a few books this week & put them down as they didn't grab my attention. If this didn't grab me I was gonna take a break. Thankfully I loved it & am looking forward to jumping into part two.

This has a great storyline. I read it in one afternoon as I really didn't want to put it down. If your a lover of dark reads then you may find this slightly dark. Having said that I totally loved it.

I finished this book barely. But I just didn't want to have another DNF book. So I powered trough, and I'm glad it's over. For ever.

This was so not what I hoped it would be. At first I was really amazed and wanted to read this book so bad, because the plot? It could've been genius and really really fantastic. A young woman, addicted to heroine, is in search of her next fix and tumbles over the BOSS. He, dangerous and feared by all, decides to keep her for himself. He's intrigued and crazy for her. They fall in love.. hmm, yeah. This isn't how this book goes.

Spoilers ahead!

My main issue with this book was with the Hero. Boss as all the others called him. He's supposed to be ruthless and dangerous and a leader of an organization who distribute heroine. I mean the book is labelled as a "dark" read. So I want something gritty and dangerous. But the hero isn't any of that.
He's only 28 (for me too young for such a role, but that's just how I see it) and is the boss man. He's always thinking on what to wear, describes his love for fine suits, has OCD and his mood changes gives you whiplashes. And he's supposed to have a texan accent.
He can't decide if he wants the heroine or not, if he's good enough for her, or if he wants her to have someone better than her. And that's how he hurts the heroine, because she just doesn't know where she's at with him.
He's overly obsessed with his clothing. It's so often mentioned, that it seems ridiculous. He gets really anxious when there's a little bit of blood on his shirt and stuff. One would think it's the destruction of the world.

There was no connection to the heroine whatsoever. It was nonexistent. They just lived in the same house, but never saw each other. We know nothing of Miri (what a strange name) or him. Not about their pasts or their feelings or anything. They don't talk much at all. She just want's to find Cat and he just wants to have her.

Then there's the issue with Milo. How can he be boss and tolerate such behavior of his men? I don't think that's the way to lead an organization. There's absolute no respect towards the boss, everyone just does what he wants and thinks is for the best.

The ending was a cliffhanger. That's not so bad for me, because I won't read it, so I don't need to wait on it.

The writing was good and the plot too. It would've made an interesting love story, with a dark twist. But Boss just ruined it for me. I thought him so immature, that it ruined the whole story.

Safety: Well there's a short separation. Miri goes to live at her new working place, but Boss isn't far away. He can't stand to be gone too long from her, so he gets her and wants to bring her home. That's where the story ends.
OW: Yes. He spends a night with his to go woman. At the time the heroine lives with him in his house and they kissed and made out. There were no promises made, so they weren't together. But I just didn't like it at all. He just visited her to "let off steam". Hmm... because apparently there's no other way to relax after a hard workday.

Spoiler Ahead This was a really good book, better than I thought it would be. Miriam "Miri" Murphy went looking for her drug dealing boyfriend Mason she needed a fix she has been living with Mason for 6 months and he got her hooked on heroin. When she ends up at Mick Jagger "Boss"Bossman's house she demands a fix. Boss doesn't know what to think of Miri she is strung out on h but he sees something in her. Boss is sexy rich and a drug lord who worked his way to the top he is also a killer who killed the last drug lord to take over his turf. Milo is his right hand man and he wants to kill Miri. Milo is a sadistic killer who gets off on it. I felt bad for Miri she was physically abused by her mother and ran away from home with her best friend Cat who is now missing. Boss also had a bad childhood his mother was a heroin addict and he is dealing with the fact that his sister died and although the author didn't say I think she was also a heroin addict also. This books touched me because I worked for years counseling heroin addicts. I also liked that Boss didn't try to have sex with Midi until she was drug free and how he did it was great she realized she didn't want to use any more not knowing she was clean for two weeks. I also liked how he protected her even from his own men when one of them tried to rape her. The sex scenes in this book were hot. This book left off on a cliffhanger and although I haven't read the next book I think I know who is responsible for what happens. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Miri wasn't always a strung out junkie hooked on heroine. It just happened. Her drug dealer boyfriend goes missing. Miri goes in search of him and her drugs. The boss is a violent and notorious drug lord. Miri needs a hit maybe just a much as her next breath. She didn't count on meeting the real Boss. Boss has his own issues including an ongoing battle with OCD.

Miri and Boss’ slow budding relationship is told through alternating points of view.
Junkie ended with a cliffhanger. I seriously can't wait to read Jaeger (Book 2) when it releases in two weeks. This dysfunctional love story turned out to be addicting! Who needs heroin when you have Kindle Crack? There is nothing like an addictive read. One-click this one!

After reading the blurb for Junkie, I decided to give it a try. I’m usually not overly eager to dive into dark novels, but this one peeked my interest. An addict that falls in love with a drug king pin. Sign me up.

But here’s the thing…

Junkie wasn’t overly dark.

I actually had trouble imagining Boss as the boss, and even more trouble imagining him as some sort of bad ass Texan. He gave in a lot. The man made more empty threats than any drug lord should. Heads should have rolled. In my very humble opinion, his right hand man should have been strapped to a chair and had rubber bands wrapped around his testicles a couple of times. But no…Boss just sort of growled at him and occasionally threatened him with the blade of a knife. He even let Miri get away with way more than she should have.

A little more back story would have been nice. We have a little more insight into Miri’s life than Boss’s, but even that lacking. I’m guessing Heather will address this more thoroughly in Jagger, the next installment in this twisted tale.

Since this is obviously part of a series (Junkie and Jagger) it should go without saying that Miri and Boss’s story doesn’t come to a beautifully wrapped conclusion in this book. I’m eager to see what happens next but wasn’t left craving a conclusion.

Overall, I was expecting something darker, deeper, harder. While Junkie was a good, easy read, it was drug lord light. That’s probably good for people like me, ones who are fairly new to the dark read world.

If you’re a hardcore, balls to the wall, give it to me dark and dirty type reader, this book might leave you slightly unsatisfied. If you’re into the idea of a dark read, but would like it to be a little less bloody, disturbing, and extreme, by all means, please pick up this book.

Was it enjoyable? Yes.
Was it worth my time? Yes.
Was it everything I expected it to me? Not exactly.
Would I recommend it? Yes, yes I would.

Junkie was good, but missing something to push it over the edge into the land of great. The story was entertaining and the characters likable. I just wish the author had taken that additional step into the dark.

Drug addict meet Drug King!!
Book 1 in the Broken Doll Series

 photo DOLL_zpsd1apuvwo.jpg

Miri is a heroine addict only looking for her next fix. When her junkie kind of sort of boyfriend goes missing, Miri becomes desperate for her next fix. Miri goes searching for anyone that she find familiar to find the little piece of heaven her body craves and at this point needs to survive. Her desperation leads her right into the hands of a dangerous man.

 photo jag_zps5ingknak.jpg

Jag, aka Boss, is the King of his area. The boss of a heroine drug ring, Jag is not one to mess with. You cross Jag and you life will end. When Jag watches Miri stumble onto his property, he had no idea the connection Jag would have to Miri.

Jag knows he needs to stay away from Miri, she is his weakness and that will get him killed in his line of work, but he can't stay away from her. Knowing she is addicted to the one thing that has made him so rich, Jag secretly helps Miri get clean while keeping his distance, until his heart can't survive the miles between them.

There attraction is dark and raw and spectacular but they both know, bad things can and will happen. Not only does Jag have an outside target on his back but he also has a target from the inside his corporation.

This book is a gritty ride into the drug world where love has no business.

This ending....I should have seen it coming but the author had a nice little twist to make it a surprise!

Author Heather C. Leigh’s JUNKIE is a dark and twisted romance surrounded by the violence of drug trafficking, but also a gut-wrenching novel that will captivate you from begging to end.

"On the ground, my knees skinned, my body battered, my mind and skin squirming as if they were crawling with bugs, I covered my face with my filthy hands and sobbed. How did this become my life?"

FIVE-STARS!
Miri is a heroin addict looking for her drug-dealing boyfriend or anyone who can give her a little bit of H, but instead she finds herself in the clutches of Austin’s ruthless drug lord – Boss Man.

"He lowered his head and his breath ghosted across my neck. I shuddered and a whimper escaped my throat, the result of a horrifying combination of lust and fear."

Although Boss Man is only 28 years old, he is dark, dangerous, ruthless man who killed his predecessor to rule a territory everyone wants. While fighting to keep the enemies away, Miri stumbles past his security and falls to his feet. Feeling a little responsible for her condition, Boss Man takes Miri into his home to take care of her needs.

“She was mine. My property. My fiery temptress. My broken doll.”

Will Boss Man be able to help Miri see the fiery temptress he sees under the filth or will he leave his broken doll at home in its gilded cage? Can Miri aide the Boss Man with his own demons and find solace? If you like dark romance, Author Heather C. Leigh wrote the perfect maddening romance between two people fighting many demons surrounding them, but especially fighting the emotion you feel instantly from your eyes to your toes through your heart into your soul.

Addiction - not having control over doing, taking or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you.

Becoming hooked is easy, with the centre of your universe suddenly becoming nothing more than chasing that next hit just to make you feel "normal". Miri finds herself willing to do anything just to stop the pain of withdrawal, to stop the burning need and she finds herself literally throwing herself into the open jaws of the predatory lion. Boss has taken over the city at a going age as he is ruthless; cold and violent he stops at nothing to achieve his end goal. Yet when a ballsy junkie turns up unabashed and unannounced on his door she unleashes something within him. Will she be his penance or his downfall?

Spoiler free all I can say is I loved the dynamic between the two characters. Although lost in her need for heroin she is still fighting to emerge from her chemical induced prison, the glimpses of the woman she used to be feeds Boss's desire to wean her off the poison he has built his kingdom on. The past is a strong motivator as he strives to right the wrongs and be a better man. A uprising from an unexpected foe and war being declared keeps this story action packed and laden with suspense and drama. The ending...oh so cruel I need more! The heat factor is off the charts and I adored the slow build up between them. All I have left to say is read this, enjoy it and then help me vent my frustrations by having someone to discuss it with!

A five star for the love of an anti hero read.

I could not take this book seriously.

The Boss didn't act like a boss. Instead, he acted like a boy playing at being a boss. I found 'Boss' aka Jag a little violent and a lot unitimidating.
Reasons I didn't believe 'Boss' is a boss:
1. The constant self-affirmation going on in the beginning of the book.
2. Milo. If he were truly a boss, Milo would never do half the stuff he does.
3. The first incident with Miri.
4. Another incident involving Miri.

Miri didn't get an ounce of sympathy from me. I think this was probably due to the fact that there was no explanation of how she became addicted to heroin. The book seeks to tease you with little snippets and I was not intrigued. I didn't care for her one way or another. She is so tailor made for Jag, that it's ridiculous.

The whole thing was a basic paint by the numbers story. You could tell what's gonna happen from the beginning and it would have been fine if Jag and Miri were better characters.

Oh. My. God! This was so damn good! I blew through this book in a day!! I couldn't put it down! I was fully engrossed in the characters and had to know their fates until the end. This book..it was everything and more. The storyline isn't over done and tired, it had just enough angst, sexiness, mystery to it. Seriously drop whatever your reading and grab this heart pounding book. By the end my heart dropped to my stomach and now I HAVE TO HAVE Jagger (book 2) to know what is going to happen next!!

This was my first Heather C. Leigh book but it sure as hell will not be my last!

Just from the first chapter I was addicted. This had me so trapped. Omg just read the blurb. Hard to write a review with out giving out spoilers. But I won't don't worry. But definitely 5 stars. I was on the edge of my seat. Very deep book. These characters are like any others. Amazing read. Heather C. Leigh had bought me into a mind of a junkie and I felt for her. Must read. I can't wait for the next book.

First the blurb blew me away. FMC is a heroin Junkie. To get high she threw the rest of her non-existent dignity at the feet of the ruthless Drugs Lord. I've never read something similar and to make a romance albeit dark one with this plot is going to be explosive.

Second I've read the first 30 pages and I was hocked. Heroin addiction is portrayed realistically and FMC is a true mess because of it.
MMC the notorious drugs boss is really ruthless. He has OCD and Paranoia that come with the territory of living in blood, filth, and being afraid for your position, wealth and life.

Third it went down-hills as the reading went. MMC is THE heroine supplier yet he despises the drug because it killed his mother and sister. As a penance for his loved ones he decides to cure FMC by getting the dose downward each day.
However, there should be a withdrawal at some point. Some sort of struggling against the craving and fighting against the urges.
We don't see that. FMC is miraculously cured and clean after I think 2-3 months of living with MMC.

Also MMC killed his previous boss and took over the trade. He despised lord crimes who wasted their time on women and drugs. So he needed to be always vigilant. However since the FMC entered his life he became so reckless in his "job".

Killing his own men for looking wrong at FMC. Not focusing on anything really despite getting his dick wet.
At the end of the day smut was over abundant just to fill the pages and the inner monologues were exhausting. So, this book is a huge disappointment to me.

3.5*

I'm finding this a real tough review to write, firstly I'm not sure what I can say about the story line without giving anything away, and secondly because I've really got mixed thoughts on this.
It is a very easy read, very easy to follow, and I read it in more or less a day. I enjoyed the story line, and liked the direction the book went, but in parts I felt it seemed a little repetitive.
It is a steamy read, and certainly not for the faint hearted. I enjoyed it but it didn't leave me needing more. I will at some stage read the next book, but more out of curiosity than anything else.
We have the drugs 'Boss and the 'Junkie who meet up in circumstances that shouldn't have happened.
'Boss man see's something in the Junkie that clearly no one else see's. And the story takes off from there.
There is quite a bit of sex in this book, and I can't help feeling that a lot of it wasn't needed, it was as though it was there to beef up the wordage, But if you like that in a book then this will be a good read for you.
It is an interesting read, it's not something I would normally read but still an interesting read.

jag & miri

I liked this story a lot. There’s the typical angst, steamy scenes, good story line but there are some triggers including drug use, overcoming addiction, violence, an overbearing controlling guy, and more. I’m starting book 2 Jagger now.

5+ Junkie stars!!! Seriously, Heather C. Leigh is a rock star and every book she writes is beyond words!!!

 photo 5 Buttons.jpg_zpshyhsjgb0.jpg

Miri is a heroin junkie and she’s looking for her next fix, since her “boyfriend” has disappeared without a trace. So where does she head?? To her boyfriends boss’ house of course. HUGE MISTAKE. Boss is a well known heroin dealer and quite frankly, not a man you want to mess with. When she’s captured on his property he brings her in knowing full well he can’t let her leave, since she’s already seen and heard too much. He never realized that under all the dirt and drugs there would be such a beautiful woman with a heart. And he never thought he’d fall for Miri, but that’s exactly what he’s done, but he doesn’t fall for women, he’s not good for her and he tries like hll to prove that to her. But he can only resist temptation for so long.

OH. MY. GOD!!! That ending has me sitting on the edge of my seat like a junkie waiting for it’s next score!!! I don’t know how long I can wait to see what happens next!!! Heather definitely knows how to keep readers intrigued and thirsty for more. I couldn’t put this book down I needed to know what was going to happen next with Miri and Boss. I loved seeing his softer side come through and his need to shield her and protect her from the harm and danger in his life. And your heart will break for Miri and all that she goes through and puts up with coming from Boss. If you are looking for a dark romance with heat and heart then this is the book for you!!! Heather you again have knocked me off my feet and I can’t wait to see the direction this goes!!!

Wow! "Junkie" was more than I expected with just the right amount of "Drug Lord" grittiness and surprisingly fabulous romance. Heather C. Leigh hit the sweet spot perfectly. The Hero, is Boss or Jagger (Jag) head of an Austin drug ring - heroin specifically. There is more to this story and his love hate relationship with his money maker. He rose up and took over at a young age - he's in his mid twenties and he's known as a scary, ruthless, and cold blooded sonofabitch. The Heroine is Miri who we meet when she is desperately strung out and looking for her dealer/boyfriend and a hit of H. She gets a tip that he's at the Boss Man's house and she finds her way onto his property. The fact that she gets up to his house undetected by his guards is a huge deal and it's because of Boss' fascination with her that she's not dead in a shallow grave somewhere. Boss/Jag keeps Miri in his house with the explanation that he doesn't want her going to the cops about where he lives but although he doesn't want to sleep with the broken doll (junkie) there is something about her that captures his attraction. Jag is rather OCD and neurotic and the dirty strung out Miri compels him to clean her up immediately and her fiery nature intrigues him but her insolence, in his house, angers him. Miri is frustrated and fascinated by Jag's mercurial nature changing from sweet to scary - smiling to snarling in seconds. Over time the attraction Jag feels for Miri becomes too much for him to resist and their relationship becomes physical and although they don't declare their feelings they fall in love. However, there is dissention within and there are those who don't like the idea of the Boss having a "junkie whore" shacking up with him and his relationship with Miri may be his downfall.
This is my first novel by Heather C. Leigh and I am ready to climb through my computer to get my hands on the second book in the Broken Doll series, "Jagger". "Junkie" is just that good. My one issue is that although we, the reader, knows both Miri and Jag's backstories neither of them have conversed and talked about their past with the other. At all. But Jag does make mention of this fact so it's not something the characters are oblivious about. I am so excited by this novel I honestly wasn't expecting to like "Junkie" as much as I did! And I cannot wait to get more with "Jagger"!
