IF YOU LIKE PICTURE-PERFECT OVERLY CHEESY LOVE STORIES LIKE ME, THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU. IT WILL QUENCH YOUR EVER-LASTING THIRST FOR CUTE ROMANCES. IT IS THE TYPE OF STORY YOU DREAM OF IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS WHEN YOU'RE BORED IN CLASS AND DAYDREAMING. I don't think many people will like this book because nowadays, everyone is all about those realistic books about heartbreak and stuff. But in my opinion, heartbreak happens everyday in real life, so at least when you are reading, you should be free to read the cutest stories that fill your heart up, make you happy, and make you believe in love. I never want to stop believing in love, and books like this give me hope. I really liked how there were 3 perspectives and it switched between all of them, but all the stories were interconnected. This helps make sure you stay focused to the book because there are so many things going on and it's a bit hard to keep up with the different stories. However, by the end, you will understand the three characters extremely well and become excited for every chapter. I liked how all the stories fit together so perfectly, and the whole theme of friendship, love, finding yourself, following your heart, etc. This is the typical book every girl needs to read. They talk about toxic relationships, mixed feelings, pursuing the one you really love, and ultimately, the whole concept of "if you really love someone, you'll let them go." I really liked how it took place in New York, because it continues to be such an alive city where dreams come true. It's the city of endless possibilities. I just loved it all. I think I liked the Jude and Darcy part the best because I think they were such a cute couple. I felt bad for D, but I think Rosanna made the right choice because it is never okay to interfere in true love. As for Sadie, I don't know if I would have forgiven Austin, but they both are happy, so all's well that ends well amiright? The only thing is, I wish I read the other 2 preceding books before this, because this is the finale in a trilogy, and I feel like it was harder for me to understand what was happening since I didn't read the other 2 books, and I feel like if I read the other 2 book I would have enjoyed this a lot more because it would have all made sense.

Not only was this book on my most anticipated reads for the year, but I also got really lucky when I actually won (for the first time!) one of those giveaways that Goodreads was hosting for this book. Let me tell you, book mail from a publishing house is really exciting to get! Anyway, after all the excitement tapered down, I realized that last year I didn’t really like book 2, and I was hoping that that wouldn’t be the case with book 3. And it wasn’t, at all.

Quick, fast-paced summer read, good for teens imagining what life after high school could be like. Since this is the last book in the City Love trilogy, we get to spend more time with these characters than in Colasanti's other books so far. Unlike many of her previous novels, the focus isn't merely on romantic relationships but also the tight-knit friendships that the three girls form as they go through tough ups and downs in NYC. There's no guarantee that all three will end up in a relationship by the end. While a couple of the guy characters fall a little flat despite having full plots, the female characters are explored more in depth, particularly because we get to hear their internal monologues. They also deal with a variety of other topics, including abuse, suicidal thoughts, financial woes, and figuring out career directions.

I'm including some of the lines or thoughts that stood out for me (minor SPOILERS below):

* Rosanna: "The next hour is one of the most agonizing hours of my life. . . . D and Shayla kind of include me in what they're talking about, but the conversation is 90% them, 10% me. Anyone watching us would assume that they are the couple in our awkward threesome. This disgusting tension keeps building the longer Shayla ignores that she tried to steal my boyfriend. . . . D seems oblivious to how this is making me feel."

Colasanti does an excellent job of conveying a nuanced situation that can be hard to explain or justify in real life, when so much of it comes from an overwhelming intuition or gut feeling that something isn't right, even if nothing happened, even if one or both other people haven't acknowledged it in themselves yet. Rosanna tries hard to be open-minded and accepting because it's fine with her if D has female friends... it's Shayla in particular who appears to have an agenda, and she wants to express her concern over that without being branded as "jealous" or "paranoid," which is a fine line to walk, but internally it creates a lot of anxiety and churning upset feelings during the novel. Colasanti handles this arc very well.

* One of the characters says: "Part of the reason I was so angry at you is that it didn't seem like you were lying. I couldn't deal with the possibility that what you were saying was true."

I've seen this happen in real life, multiple times, where people will get irrationally, over-the-top angry, even to the point of vengeance or bullying, because they so badly don't want to believe that someone is telling the truth. They don't want to believe that they were duped and lied to by someone they wanted to be able to trust. It would be so much easier if the person was lying, so they lie to themselves instead, and ride the wave as long as they can before it all comes crashing down and they can't stay upright anymore. In the context of this novel, it gave the character very understandable motivation; while not condoned, it's realistic that she lashed out.

* "They assumed he was an angry teenager. As if teens are angry for no reason just because they're teens."

The majority of teens don't talk to their parents about what's going on in their lives, often with good reason, and it's only later that their parents begin to understand even a glimmer of what was making them so angry and stressed out - often it's stuff they couldn't even begin to imagine.

Colasanti vividly remembers what it's like to be a teen, and worked with teens as a teacher for years, so her books often convey an underlying message of support and encouragement. While some may find this too sunshiny, what adds more weight to it is the way she's lived her own life and overcame extreme challenges and circumstances. She's shared some of her stories on her blog (and the "Acknowledgments" section of this book), & the arc of her actual life is as inspiring as her novels.

Told from alternating points of view, Forever in Love celebrates three girls who will be forever in love with the endless possibilities their futures hold.

I fell in love with City Love Trilogy when I picked up the first book in the series. I followed the adventures, the struggles of Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna from first book, and when I reached last page in FOREVER IN LOVE to me I felt, as if I was saying goodbye to my longtime friends. Reading the books, that’s what Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna became to me, friends. I am aware that they are fictional characters but to me they were real. That’s one of things that I love about SUSANE COLASANTI novels, she always finds a way to hook you to the story, and connect with characters. There wasn’t a single book of hers that I read where I didn’t connect with characters that I was reading about. Even as I reached the last page in FOREVER IN LOVE I could not help but wonder what’s going to happen with Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna after.

As I said before, I loved the friendship between Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna. Despite the little distance between Darcy and Rosanna for a while, in the end the three of them were always there for one another. It reminds me of couple of my best friends, they are always there for me when I need them, and same goes for me. With Darcy, Rosanna and Sadie, they were so lucky to be able to connect so fast, not long after meeting each other. Friendships like those don’t happen often. I think if they didn’t have one another, they might able to move past their breakups, and move from their past. I believe that the three of them is what kept them strong and what kept them on going. Sadie, Darcy and Rosanna showed each other the true meaning of friendship.

I was a bit sad that Rosanna didn’t end up with Donovan. I did see some changes in him when he started hanging out with his ex. I was hoping that he would stop hanging out with her, once he found out that she has feelings for him. I know that he cared about Rosanna, but fact that he started spending more time with his ex, and always running to her rescue, that’s a red flag right there. In beginning I was sure that the two of them would end up together, but later I realized that it wouldn’t work, not if he was still in love with his ex. I know it was hard to let Rosanna let anyone in after what happened to her, so I hope she can find someone in future, to make her happy. I was happy that Darcy ended up with Jude, who she belonged right from start. I do wish that she realized it earlier than she did. However I am glad that she got her happy ending, especially after everything she went through with Logan and her father.

Not only was FOREVER IN LOVE a beautiful story, it was inspiring. Not long after I finished reading it, when I started working on my own book because I felt so inspired afterwards. I am sad to say goodbye to everyone and I know that I will most likely end up reading multiple times in future. A breathtaking, astonishing , magical story that you will find thinking long after you reach the end.

Forever In Love, by Susane Colasanti, is the third book to her trilogy, City Love. Set in New York City, Colasanti twists the common chick-lit genre by adding in suspenseful tribulations and modern day issues that make this book extremely diverse.
I admire Colasanti’s use of diction throughout the book. There are three female narrators in the book, who are all roommates in college. Each of them trade off telling their sides of the story between chapters. Colasanti does a great job of making it clear who is speaking at all times. Each of the girls have their own voice and use different slang from one another. Rosanna is very innocent so she would never curse, while Darcy is a wild child and doesn’t care who she offends. Sadie prefers to be kind, but she knows how to stand for what she believes in. Colasanti makes it very evident that they have their own personalities when they’re narrating.
In the story, there are some graphic and upsetting moments that Colasanti handles very well by using euphemism. At some points, there is talk about child abuse, miscarriage, and suicide. Because the book is classified at a chick-lit, the words that the author chooses to express her objective are very carefully chosen. She goes into detail about these situations, yet never crosses a line to maintain the book’s overall goal, which is to represent falling in love in New York City. I greatly appreciate the respect she had when she wrote about those topics.
There are multiple cases of foreshadowing in this piece of writing. Colasanti uses the foreshadowing technique to create suspense the entire time we are reading. There are not many surprises in the story, but what makes the book so interesting is the build up to events that Colasanti continuously adds in the story. She lets the reader in to see how the girls are individually feeling, and the anticipation of finding out how their emotions affect their choices is agonizing in the best way.
If you enjoyed The Fault In Our Stars or If I Stay, this is a perfect read for you. It deals with romance and young love but also includes some very serious situations as well. I would recommend it for mature high school students and college students because these groups can best identify with the story.

All the bad reviews about this book: Screw off.
It's been at least nine months since I last read Susane Colasanti and over a year since I read City Love. I've been waiting forever for the book to come out, and it was bittersweet to read the highly anticipated book. It reminded me just why Susane Colasanti's writing is so amazing and hopeful about soulmates and the promise of young love. This probably is my favorite one out of the trilogy.
Susane wrapped up all the loose ends that City Love had created, and it was realistic to show that a high school relationship wouldn't last forever and the struggles of being young and in love. Still, I was devastated when D and Rosanna broke up because I thought of them as the steadiest and most perfect couple.
The girls were strong and independent and ambitious with highly admirable qualities. They had issues to go through, but they still managed to go through it and had their happily-ever-after that they deserved, even if they didn't get whom they wanted at first. It was beautifully showing how the girls had grown not only as individuals but as friends.
Rosanna is my favorite because I can see bits and pieces of me scattered in her. She's quiet and shy at times, but she knows how to comfort people and when to take charge and isn't rushing to be in a relationship, even after the breakup with D. She has her head straight on her shoulders, and her heart's always in the right spot. Rosanna is reasonable and ambitious and reminds me of Peter [from the Bachelorette] because she recognizes that being with someone after two months doesn't promise love or a future or even a date with them tomorrow.
Susane is able to create a light and cheerful book while still addressing serious issues like child abuse, sexual assault, and adultery within the book.
If I had to describe the book in one word, I would have to say hopeful.

really enjoyed this book! I was always a fan of the city love trilogy and this one was no exception. I love the whole aspect of NYC and the bonds the girls make. I enjoyed seeing the ups and downs of relationships through the 3 books. however I still am very unsure of Austin and I wasn’t a fan of his and Sadie’s relationship. Next I adored Jude and Darcy!!!! I wish we saw more of them in this book but I was glad they got back together. and I was shocked when Rosana and D broke up. I really liked them together. still confused why they broke up. for the girls themselves they have grown from the book and I even in such s short time it was noticeable. it was so strange because the first book came out when I was 15? and they had just graduated high school and now I read the last one as I just graduated a few weeks ago. very cool to experience that. Anyway I can’t pick a favorite girl I like them all for their own reasons and they all have done stuff I haven’t liked. however I adored the bond they shared with each other. I’m glad we got to see more of their friendship this book. I enjoyed that a lot. however I loved this trilogy ad reading it from the first year it was published!

Confirmed: Not the series for me. I didn’t really like a single character, and I certainly wasn’t rooting for any of the primary relationships. Cliche after cliche and NO actual investment/connection on my end. The writing and the plot were SO fluffy that it took some seriously F’ed up real-life situations and made them laughable. Which is just wrong. (I know this wasn’t her intention, and I feel bad even saying that, but it’s true.) I couldn’t, for the life of me take these books seriously. (Ya’ll. One character quoted “Here Without You” by 3 Doors Down…seriously…and I was dead.) They included child abuse, infidelity, molestation, suicide, stalking, and pregnancy loss; yet at several points Pat said, “why do you keep reading awful books?!” because I apparently kept muttering, “this is just SO bad” and shaking my head numerous times while reading these three. Dang they’re pretty *looking* though.

I definitely did not realize this book was the last book of a trilogy when I picked it up from the library (designers, why can't we incorporate clear indication of "THIS IS NOT THE START OF THIS SERIES" more?) but it worked fairly well as a stand alone. But I do think I would have cared a little more if I had more context.
On the bright side, it didn't go into heavy exposition at any point, which I appreciated, even more as a part of a series.
Sweet, quick, summer-before-college read with three strong (if not sometimes mildly annoying) narrating voices. It dealt with some heavy topics and focused more on the girls' growth than the love interests, which I didn't necessarily expect.
While I'm not running out frantic to grab the first two parts from the library, I'd definitely return to the series if I was craving something light to read.

What a way to end a series! Where do I begin? Well first off,all three ladies have a lot of secrets in their past that they came to NYC that they tried to escape. Sadie, formerly the rich girl who would use her card for everything has been cut off,so now she has to take a job as a barista. As it turns out, that's the least of her worries. Darcy, whose motto is "Live for today" starts to push it a little bit too far,and Rosanna is still trying to work though her childhood trauma and hidden fears, and all 3 of them are trying to figure out what to do about their relationships, both romantic and otherwise. Humor, honesty and heartbreak collide in this final installment of the "City Love" series. Overall,a quick, fun and thought provoking read, very glad I found this series by chance, sad it's over though!

I won the first City Love book in a giveaway in late January 2015 and after reading it fell in love with the series. So when the, sadly, last book of the trilogy came out, I knew I had to get it.

I love that the trilogy takes place over the summer before college. The series showed me what City Love is. Loved everything about the series. The only thing that is disappointing about "Forever in Love" is that it's the last book in the series.

If you're a fan of the first or/and second City Love books, you must get this one and see how it concludes. Who knows? Maybe we'll get to see future short stories with Sadie, Darcy, and Rosanna. Personally, I'd love to see "City Love: Christmas edition" or other stories with the girls in it.

I enjoyed this book of the series better than the 2nd book. I felt more connected to the characters, and I felt there was a balance between Sadie, Darcy, and Rosanna’s character flaws and positive traits. I felt like in this story Darcy and Rosanna made some huge personal growth was beautifully written and unfolded very naturally. Sadie’s family drama and her journey to move past all the anger was heart wrenching and so honest. I loved that the focus was off boys/romantic relationships and more on the girls and how they treated each other and themselves. I did feel like in this book New York was again it’s own character, but that it took a backseat to the story of the girls. I enjoyed the subtlety. The ending was full of hopefulness and expectation for the future. I loved each girl’s story wrapped up nicely with a tone of their bright future.

After waiting so long to read the last book in this trilogy, I just didn't feel connected to the characters/care about them and what happened to them. Overall, the book was okay, but not anything worth raving about. Again, my favorite character was Rosanna and I enjoyed reading her part the most. In general, I felt like the book was a little drawn out/pointless at times. One thing I did appreciate was the author's way of switching between characters and scenes, but not leaving out details.

Honestly, this book was kind of a let down after the first two installments of the trilogy. I get that all the girls find themselves by the end of the book, but the series is called City Love. I wish that all three girls ended up with a guy in the end. After waiting over a year to read this, I was kind of disappointed in the outcome.

If you're looking for a book with real, inspiring female characters who have a true sisterhood and don't backstab each other like in many other books, then this is the book for you! I've been watching The Bold Type and the City Love trilogy reminds me so much of the show, especially with the 3 lead female characters and their friendship.

Unfortunately this book wasn't as charming as the first two but I guess it was an okay ending to the series. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the characters but I guess I was just expecting a grand ending that I didn't get. Then again, not all love storiea have pleasant endings. Overall, it is a cute love series and I do own the entire collection. I would recommend to some friends.

I loved that this book helps you realize that there are all sorts of love and that you do not need a boy in your life to be happy. If you are unhappy with someone or if you aren't right for each other, the best thing you can do is to let go. Love is out there, you just have to be brave enough to go and find it.

“We all make mistakes. We all have regrets we wish we could go back and do over. But wallowing in those regrets is not living. Life is about believing that we can do better next time.”

Not as good as the previous to books in the trilogy, but it was lovely to be back with these three characters and the ending was satisfying.

I enjoyed that this book is about self growth. It’s very inspiring. Growing & letting go of your past is very hard. I also enjoyed how this is a 3 book series. Colasanti typically only writes 1 book, never a series. So, I found that interesting.
In this book there were a lot of pointless, irrelevant paragraphs. So, it made it a start to get boring. But, other than that, I enjoyed the book a lot.
I would recommend this book to people who like realistic fiction & drama. Age groups 14-20 I suggest.

This book brings together 4 girls and there different stories, and allows you inside of each of there perspectives. The only thing I have to say that was bad is that it was sometimes hard to remember who's story was who's and mix up the characters.
