This skillfully presented commentary works through each of Paul’s epistles in a thought-by-thought layout, rather than verse-by-verse. Occasionally, on passages of essential doctrinal significance, Painter pauses to exposit even more deeply. Every page and entry is rich with useful content. Much of it is directly preachable and teachable, but all of it is informative. Great way to expand biblical literacy of the Pauline epistles, and worth saving for later reference.

I'm giving it 4 stars just because it's hard/not terribly enjoyable to read cover to cover. However, it is excellent reference material and I've already found it very useful as a reference for Bible study. I'll get great use out of this for years to come!

Informative, but slow reading. Commentary style writing rather than inspirational. Informative book series that should be used as a textbook for learning.

Apostolic, solid material...just not easy reading.
Better if spaced out over several days when reading in sections. Well written though, but college level.
