Rate this book
In the tradition of the beloved masterpiece The Prophet , Hajjar Gibran -- an ancestral descendant of Kahlil Gibran -- presents a parable of spiritual awakening based on his often heartbreaking and ultimately triumphant life. With its universal themes, personal narrative, and timeless advice, The Return of the Prophet opens the doorway to a new generation's classic, and a modern understanding of timeless spiritual wisdom. Hajjar recalls an intimate, spiritual connection with the Prophet while journeying together through the themes of abundance, betrayal, desire, forgiveness, and others. Stunning charcoal illustrations throughout give readers a glimpse into the visions Hajjar experienced during his troubled past.

I've just begin this book that was written by Hajjar Gibran, a great-nephew of Kahlil, who wrote *The Prophet*. Hajjar begins the book, and his ancestral journey, after a horrific loss: "I was a wounded man dreaming of love yet not ready to be the one I prayed to become." Unable to bear his grief, he cries out for years ... and begins to discern another voice ...

"The well of love that waters your garden is at times filled with your tears ... Bless grief, as it softens the sinew that shields your deprived heart ... When all seems lost, you are most apt to find the inconceivable treasure."

"Everything is given unto you, save the grateful heart that would receive it."

"I learned faith from the doubter, decency from the sinister, compassion from the cruel, and gratitude from them all."

"Though I am called by many names, I am nameless and formless, yet I appear to you always in a form that draws you to me.
I am the spirit pulsing in the heart of all beings."

"Bless grief, as it softens the sinew that shields your deprived heart. Yield to pain, for armour must be torn from you to expose your innocent strength."

"I was a wounded man dreaming of love yet not ready to be the one I prayed to become."

I don't think anyone will be able to surpass the beauty and depth of Kahlil Gibran's works, ever. Not even someone who claims to be a descendant of Kahlil's. Hajjar Gibran's attempt to bring back the Prophet is mediocre at best. I wish he had left the Prophet alone and came up with something original instead.

The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran is a moving, thought-provoking and very worthwhile read. The Return of The Prophet is an attempt by a faith healer with a dubious (if any) relationship to the original author to make a quick buck. It’s terrible. The book is a meandering tale of bad drug trips with badly written bits in the style of The Prophet mixed in with a sob story of the author’s life.

Keseluruhannya, enak dibaca cuma aku sedikit terganggu (entah kenapa).
