Swindoll's book The Strong Family' was encouraging and offered continued wisdom for my calling as a mom.

"By wisdom a house is built, by understanding it is established.' (Proverbs 24:3,4) This same verse stands as the foundation of Swindoll's writings, that by God's wisdom revealed in the Bible our families are built up and established.

Very insightful and grounded on scripture. Parents should read as Swindoll has a way with words to provoke us to think further.

My mom asked me to read this book before getting married in just 3 months from now. I am glad that I read this! It had very important advice and insight into the God-centered family. However, I do feel like this book is more appropriate for people who already have children or who are about to become parents. While I learned a lot and the knowledge is very beneficial it was sometimes hard to relate to the perspective of the author who already had raised children. The audience was more directed towards parents. Some of the references were also very dated as this book was written in a different era than 2023. Overall, I am pleased to have read it and I’m sure will remember parts of it when I am a parent one day.

A very solid and practical book. Even for being released in 1991 I couldn’t believe how well the topics and worries carried over.

Very similar to my parents I have the same goals for what I consider a successful happy family. This book reinforces those wants and beliefs.

I love the biblical inputs and examples used.

Also shows that for a few centuries, parents have the same ideal family idea. It also shows that parents have made and will continue to make the same parental mistakes. We do need to own up to it and work on correcting our own response and behavior. I love how it explains no human being can be controlled.

It’s very real. Very simple. Very faith driven.
