Claire Wallace left town ten years ago. She hasn’t looked back to small town life—or Matt Brannon—until now.

When Claire Wallace grew up in West Haven, it was a sleepy town she wanted to escape. A job offer right out of high school was her ticket. Ten years later when she returns for a class reunion, Claire sees that the town she left is not the same place where she grew up.

Even Matt Brannon has changed. Back then he was good old Matty—good for a laugh and good on his word. He’d even been really good that night in the back of his truck. But now? He's still a good guy, good at his job and doing good deeds all over town—but some things have definitely changed for the better.

Small town romances and high school reunions just aren’t the same after a trip to the Sanctuary. In a truly binding embrace, Claire and Matt may find that their something old may become something more.

Reader Advisory: This book contains some scenes of rope play.

Something Old (More than Something #2) by Abigail Grey
3 stars
M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

This is not at all what I expected. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't blown away by the story either.

Matt is a down home, "good old boy". He has lived his life in a small town and knows everyone around. He's pretty content with his life. When a class reunion comes up, he calls his long time friend whom he's lost contact with, Claire.

Claire is a girl who needed to get out of small town living - she wanted to live the fast life. What happened was that she was taken for a spin by a smooth talker. She's been trying to dig her way out of the mess that became her life, ever since.

While this is a cute, feel good story about second chances, there is very little development and almost no history to help you figure out what happened or what will happen. I really wanted to like this story a lot more, but without those aspects, I just couldn't get there.

The writing style was good - I liked how the author didn't over describe things. However, the flow of the story was somewhat truncated.

I hate when I get sucked in by an awesome cover but am disappointed by what's inside.

Claire Wallace left West Haven behind years ago, but when her class reunion comes around, she decides to make the trek back to small town America at the request of childhood friend Matt Brannon. When Matt sees Claire, he immediately knows she's not the same girl who left so long ago, and he's pretty sure it's not for the better. The once sweet and carefree girl is now a cynical and sharp woman, one who still gets his blood boiling and his pants tight every time she looked his way. The two engaged in a push/pull until the chemistry was just too hard to ignore. And now that they've given in? Implosion. But Claire's life is in Chicago, and neither of them would fit in the other's world anymore, right?

SOMETHING OLD is the 2nd book in the More Than Something series and can be read as a stand alone. It's one of those "you can come home again" stories of old love that reignites upon reuniting. The addition of a kink club felt a little strange, kind of thrown in there without a good feel for how this straight community got there. And everyone seems be involved in the lifestyle in some way. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good BDSM book as much as the next person, but it felt forced In SOMETHING OLD, added in for a little something extra but falling flat.

I couldn't stand Claire. She was so stuck up, standoffish and downright rude throughout the book. I get her circumstances weren't ideal, but her pride kept her from returning to where she grew up. Matt was still that sweet guy she remembered, just with a rope fetish. There were very few sparks, more like a wet lighter that just couldn't ignite.

Bottom Line: No OW/OM or sharing; no condom use; BDSM/kink (rope play and kink clubs); no sexual assault; no murder/violence. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/v...
