As the Demon Lilith continues to grow in strength, some of the world's teenage survivors worry about finding a cure for the plague that has killed all the adults, while others try to party themselves to death.
I found the characters in Countdown: July pretty annoying. I know that they're the same characters in the previous books and I know that it's building to something big, but it seems that the author decided to keep the annoying characters .
I felt that this book was simply written because Parker needed to fill in the twelve months, so he made a few things happen from the prophecy. However, Sarah Levy's character was simply annoying, as she trekked across the U.S. trying to get others to see that she was The Chosen One and find the False Prophet. The False Prophet (Harold Wurt) comes across as an imbecile who is so full of his own self importance to realise that he's being played. Ariel either spends her time drinking or sulking, so she gets nothing done. And finally, Julia Morrison spends her time crying about the dramas she creates in her life, which again gets nothing done.
I won't be impressed if the next book doesn't move the story forward, just so the climax can happen in December; because an August, September, October, November without much happening will be a waste of reading time.
Parker continues his post-apocalyptic dystopian future with teenagers starting to have magical powers, and who are hoping to fulfill a prophecy that would save their destroyed world. Parker drives this story almost exclusively through dialogue and has the fast-paced action that is ideal for a young-adult audience but that leaves almost anyone else full of questions. This is one of those series that while you might love as a teenager, you will dislike as an adult.
Just finished the book and I wasn't expecting Gorge to be alive so glad he is..sucks now the scroll in the wrongs hands. Sarah needs to realize whats really on.
