At the dawn of the conflict, battle lines are drawn and sides are set… now legends will be made in PRIMACY. On current Cybertron, Shockwave sets into motion a long-gestating plan but Soundwave, now commander of the Decepticons, confronts him in the ancient Crystal City. On the Lost Light, Rodimus leads his crew to the gates of heaven–or something much worse as larger forces close in and an ancient plan is reaching fruition.
Collects Primacy, Robots in Disguise #19–22, and More Than Meets the Eye #17–22.
MTMTE is definitely the best run in Phase Two, plot is well thought out and not boring, and I love the characterization and general shenanigans. I am not a fan unfortunately of RID in this one, I do enjoy political intrigue but there’s lowkey no intrigue just bland power struggles we’ve seen time and time again. I hope it picks up because there is a lot of good potential there. Otherwise this issue was really good, Primacy definitely stands out. Plus The Sound Of Breaking Glass, I absolutely love it when I get those mini written stories at the end.
Didn't care too much for the stuff at the beginning, interesting bits here and there but nothing crazy. MTMTE continues to be amazing. RID was a bit lacking but I kinda liked the soundwave stuff.
The prose stuff at the end was interesting enough, a good in-between I suppose, setting up more to come.
It’s amazing how well done the IDW Transformers comics are, and how much emotion they get out of humanoid robots. There are some truly touching stories here that are well worth reading.
This volume of the second Phase of IDW featured two different set of stories between the main two books collected here. In Robots in Disguise, the main take away is the setup of the upcoming Dark Cybertron storlyline. Meanwhile, More than Meets the eye was the payoff to storylines setup to when the series first began. It's still an incredible read and some of the best Transformers comics ever written.
