I once thought I’d found my Mr. Right—then my best friend found him as well. One divorce later, and this single mom swore off love, romance, and all smooth-talking, tattooed, bad boys.
Until him.
The worst mistake of my life moved in next door—a bona fide pain in my ass and pleasure everywhere else. Adam Hardick might hide behind his beard and sunglasses, but I see through him—he’s chronically single and just looking for trouble.
And now his eyes aren’t staying on his side of the fence.
It doesn’t matter that Adam is sexier than any man I’ve ever known, or that he’s hiding a mysterious injury from his service overseas. I’m looking for stability, responsibility, and someone who can love me and my three-year-old daughter. I can’t risk another broken heart.
But when our innocent fling becomes an accidental pregnancy, our relationship isn’t just for fun anymore. Can I trust a committed bachelor to become a devoted daddy?
It’s easy to fall in love…but sometimes the best romance is the one you never expected.

LOVED this book! Kelley Harvey makes her stories believable. Things you can relate to. Kelsey is a single mom and an author. Adam buys the house next door to hers with the intention of fixing it up and selling it. The chemistry between these two is amazing. You can't help but want them to get together. Of course life seems to stand in the way. Kelsey's been hurt and betrayed and has serious trust issues. Adam is ex Army and was wounded overseas. He doesn't think any woman could ever love him or his scars. Can these two work through their issues and find their HEA? You'll have to read it to find out. Grab your copy today. You won't be disappointed. -And I just have to add that the scenes with Spike and Chloe are priceless. These two keep you entertained and laughing out loud throughout the entire book. Definitely worth the read!
This book had great chemistry between the main characters, hot, steamy sex,and great secondary characters! This book was so funny,I laughed so hard I had to put my kindle down several times because I couldn't even see from laughing! A fantastic book!
I came across this book as a recommendation for on of the many book blog emails I get.
I am glad I purchased this book. It was all that and so much more. Adam and Kelsey were made for each other. The chemistry between them was liquid hot.
I love reading romance books that have wounded soldiers in them. As a wife of a Veteran, these books really tug at my heart strings.
I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Harvey. She has gained another dedicated fan to her work.
omg I loved this story, the banter between Adam and Kelsey is awesome, I was drawn in as soon as I seen the word sugar glider being used, lol. Adam is a retired service man who has some scars that are deeper than most but when his sassy tree climbing no panty wearing neighbor, makes him want things he never knew was possible can he let those scars show? Kelsey is done with men but having one right now would help her finish her book, so when she meets her sexy neighbor he might just be the muse she needs if she can get his smart mouth, but when it becomes more will she allow herself more?
This book had everything. It was hilarious! The first page alone had me almost spitting out my drink it was so funny! Steamy, sweet and just an all around great read!
The second book I read by this author. Heroine's first husband I must say was a total douche bag. To not even care about his own flesh and blood. So heartbreaking. I so enjoyed reading about the boyfriend in this book. Sounds like my kind of guy. Love a guy who can fix anything. My heart broke for his military experience but that made the book even more interesting. A must read for people who love a good "sex" story.
It was a great read. It was a short pleasant read with great characters and a story line that makes for a nice afternoon of reading. You get bonus stories. Rated very good
Often we don’t realize the sacrifices people make for others. I mention this because after reading, “So Long, it gives one an understanding of just what lies below the surface of our Americans who go above and beyond for this country and pay the ultimate sacrifice of fighting in a war. Our men and woman of our armed forces are true heroes. They don’t get no were near enough credit for all they do. They not only sacrifice time away from their own family and friends for people they don’t even know but also sacrifice themselves. The known fact that they could be shot or killed by an IED bomb is never far from their minds but they do it out of love for our country. I wish everyone could have the same thought process when it comes to our country and being proud. So many of us take so much for granted from the food and drink we consumed this morning to living in a country that lets us do a lot of stuff freely.
So this brings me to ------ So Long
Adam Hardick is an honorably discharged Staff Sargeant in the US Military. He knows just what struggles and sacrifices are and how it truly leaves an impact on your life. Adam was hit by an IED bomb while overseas. This bomb resulted in the death of his best friend as well as leaving Adam with disabilities and struggles that he will have to live the rest of his life with. He doesn’t think he deserves happiness because his friend lost his life leaving his wife and children without their husband and father. Before the accident he made a promise to his friend that if anything should happen to him that he promise to take care of them and Adam doesn’t forget that once he is back home. Recovery from such a traumatic experience takes time as well as therapy. Once Adam is back in the States he sets forth his plans to do as his friend asks as well as everything he can to try to overcome his own struggles but never did he think …. One woman could change it all…and his neighbor no less.
Kelsey is a hardworking single mother that has recently gone through a divorce. She is an author too who is struggling since the divorce to put the right words down on paper to complete her next book. She needs them to come fast and sufficient though since her bills very much depend on this book. Kelsey and her ex had a huge fallen out and since he spoke those last words it has left her with a major struggle but she has to do what she has to do because her little girl depends on her. The last thing Kelsey needs though is an abnoxious sexy as hell neighbor that leaves her struggling with more than just putting words on paper. Never did she imagine one single man that looks like a mountain man would bring her the closure she needs as well as the right words.
Adam and Kelsey…what can I say these two are absolutely perfect. From the very first encounter in the first few pages I was left laughing so much with the humor and banter between these two. Kelley does a fantastic job with giving us a refreshing fun filled story. At the time I read this book I had just read a very emotional book and I really needed the humor provided in this book. I needed a light hearted read that would get me through this emotional book funk I was in and Kelley delievered 100%. From Adam’s wild and crazy dog Spike to Kelsey’s terrorist of a cat named Chloe as well as the banter Adam and Kelsey have this book had me in tears from laughing so hard. A complete 180 from the cries I was shedding in the last book. I truly don’t think I have laughed this hard in a while. This book was also sexy as hell though. These two have a chemistry that was sizzling. I found myself at times, hot from the passion they set off.
“I am the pirate king-“ I waggle my eyebrows, getting into the game. “I shall make you dance on my wooden plank, and then I’ll drive into the unfathomable Depths of your lagoon of passion.”
There was tons of scenes like the one I just quoted throughout this book but I don’t want to give you all the good stuff then you won’t have any reason to read this book and YOU MUST!!!!!!!!!!! Adam was just absolutely the best. He had a fun part of him but he also had a sweet side. This sweet side was something Kelsey was inexperienced with. Her ex never once showed her the kind of treatment Adam does. Adam shows her what it’s liked to be truly loved. Both Adam and Kelsey are vulnerable and they have a connection that they both can’t believe but can Adam help Kelsey form the perfect words for her next release???? Can Kelsey help Adam find release as he struggles with his past??? You will just have to read So Long to find out how it all ends with Adam, Kelsey and little Clarissa…as well as Spike and Chloe ;)
“Face it, beautiful Girl….aroused is my default when it comes to you… I’m always going to want to kiss you.” “ALWAYS!!”
This book deserves much more than 5 stars and highly recommended. Everyone should read this book. I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first Kelley Harvey story, but it won't be my last. I enjoyed the way it flowed as well as her writing style. I laughed at the quirky banter between the characters, I was hooked from the first page! Kelley did an awesome job. This is a HEA, with lots of super steamy sex scenes that'll have you hot & bothered, word plays that'll have you laughing, their pets will have you rolling. There is some serious subject matter tossed in the storyline, cheating ex, wounded vet, as well as serious issues each character has to deal with, but a romantic comedy novel through in through. I laughed, cried, chuckled, and just had to read it all the way through in one sitting!
Kelsey's mischievous kitten named Chloe (aka you little terrorist) keeps getting herself into trouble, but because of her behavior Kelsey meets her infuriating sexy voiced new neighbor Adam. She can't say what he looks like because he's covered in fur (aka a beard), which means she can't really see his face. He keeps catching her at inappropriate times, while she's climbing the tree in her oversized sleep shirt-- commando style, as she's watching him arrive home in her nightshirt & underwear, through her blinds - that end up falling down along with the curtain, eavesdropping on her conversation with her best friend Leigh. Kelsey's a romance writer with a deadline quickly approaching, but she's suffered with writers block ever since her husband (& his woman-her former friend) cheated and walked out of her and her daughter Clarissa’s lives. She feels like she couldn't keep his attention, or her love wasn't enough to keep their family together. Leigh thinks she should join the online dating site where a co-worker met this amazing guy. To help find the man of her dreams or at least get laid and out of her drought.
Adam's returned home from the army and is now flipping his first house, his to do list far out weighs his done list. But it beats being stuck in the desert on the other side of the world. He is DEFINITELY attracted to Kelsey and would love to have a taste of her, if only to help her out of her slump!
Will Adam get the chance to help break through Kelsey's funk? Can Kelsey help Adam with his issue? You'll have to read So.Long to find out! It'll be worth your time!! Although this is the 3rd book of her Bad Boy Next Door Collection, this is a STANDALONE novel. Due to explicit sexual content and adult language this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older. I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review, but I've also purchased not only a copy, but the others as well!
So, my friend and I often send each other screen shots of books that look good, with links to accompany the screenshots/teasers. One night, my friend sent me this, just as I was getting ready for bed. I read the teaser and was intrigued, so I looked at the book and the blurb sounded awesome. And the price was right so I 1-clicked. Then my friend asked if I read the excerpt that was under the blurb. Well, no, I didn't. I was sold on the blurb alone. But I did something I never do, and that's going back to read the excerpt.
That excerpt was awesome. I'm talking, engaging, drew me in and it was FUNNY. The excerpt is what sold me on immediately reading this. Even though I 1-clicked, I kind of expected this to fall into the bottomless pit that has become my kindle...something I'd see in the future and just seem to never get around to reading. But that excerpt...dang.
I immediately started the book and had a hard time putting it down. Even after I fell asleep, I was dreaming about the book, and even woke up in the middle of the night to read for about an hour before going back to sleep. When I got up the next day, I just HAD to finish the book before I went to work. I knew that if I didn't finish the book, work would be torture because all I'd be able to think about was this book.
This book was funny. And I'm not talking about over the top, unrealistic situations funny...it was stuff that I could see happening to myself or friends of mine. It had me laughing so hard, that the dog was giving me weird looks.
I loved Kelsey and Adam. I loved their chemistry and friendship and I loved how Adam was with her daughter. Even when they had issues, it wasn't unnecessary drama...it was misunderstandings because they weren't fully talking things out. But I loved that even in the hard times, Adam wasn't going to give up on the woman he wanted.
This is definitely a book that was an instant favorite. I can't wait to read it again and all the author's other books!
This book really hit home for me seeing as I could truly relate to the cheating husband and single parent life and marrying my Army soldier. I really enjoy how the Kelley slowly pulled you into the story and just had you trying to guess the outcome.
Adam, a honorably discharged soldier, moved into a home he plans on fixing up and selling. He was injured during his stint in the military and this injury left him with an issue that he can't seem to fix. That is until he meets his lovely neighbor, Kelsey trying to get her kitten from out of a tree. The problem here is Kelsey didn't expect anyone to see her outside with only a t-shirt on and nothing under it. What a way to meet your new neighbor right. Once Adam sees this beautiful woman, he plans on doing everything in his power to get her to be his.
Kelsey, a smut romance writer, has been trying to write her novel but cannot find her mojo after divorcing her cheating husband who took off with her so-call best friend Marcy. She believes he took her writing skills with him when he dumped her. Little does she know she just needs to find the right motivation to get the smut wheel rolling in that head of hers. Her friend Leigh suggests a dating site to try. Then when she meets Adam she suggests that Kelsey enjoy some casual licking with her neighbor Adam to get this wheel turning only it doesn't work out like she hoped.
After everything seems to be going well, Kelsey pulls the plug and Adam is left wondering what he did wrong to get her to just want to be friends with no benefits. He doesn't realize what he said on the phone and to her question was the reason. But this doesn't stop him from trying to get back in her good grace.
There's drama from the ex-husband, insecurity, meeting the daughter, assuming someone has a secret family and so on. A must read indeed.
I was giving a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Let me start off by saying that I totally needed this book at this time. I've been reading a series that is really heart wrenching and I needed a break. Well I'm happy to say I am totally in love with this book. So Long has laugh out loud moments along with serious and heartwarming moments that just grabbed me and wouldn't let me go until I finished it this morning at 5:30am. Yes I pulled an all nighter reading, laughing and at times shedding a few tears. I find myself thinking about the banter between Kelsey and Adam and start to giggle and that always tells me the author has done her job if I'm still thinking about her characters after I've finished the book. The way Kelsey and Adam meet is one of the funniest scenes in the book until Kelsey's mom Gina meets Adam's dog Spike, but then I can't forget Kelsey's kitten Chloe the terrorist. Spike is in a class all his own and if you don't laugh out loud during the shower scene there is something wrong with you. There are also some serious subjects thrown in with Adam being a wounded veteran and his issues along with Kelsey's douche of an ex husband. For the most part this is a Romantic Comedy with hot sex scenes and easy fun banter between the main characters with serious issues they have to deal with alone and together. Oh I also loved Kelsey's best friend Leigh and their hilarious conversations (I'd love to read her book) and I can't forget Kelsey's sweet 3 1/2 year old daughter Clarissa who we meet towards the latter part of the book. I know I haven't gotten into the meat of the book in my review but I just don't want to give anything away, you Must read it I promise you won't be disappointed. I loved it and can't wait for more from Kelley's great writing style and humor that is off the charts. Happy Reading!!
Kelsey and Adam are new neighbors who have a lot to discover about each other. Kelsey is a divorced author, mother of a three year old daughter, Clarissa, who writes smut for a living. Adam is an injured war veteran who has decided to try buying houses, fixing them up, and then flipping them. His plan didn't include meeting Kelsey and her cat, Chloe at first. What transpires after their first few meetings was comedy at it's best. His dog, Spike, made the book for me. Kelsey feels that she needs to find a nice man, get married and have more kids. Adam doesn't realize that Kelsey has a kid at first because she is spending a month with her father and his family for the summer. His reaction does not give Kelsey warm and fuzzy feelings. Adam is looking for easy relationships and definitely does not find that with Kelsey. She does help him with his predicament (too funny to explain - read the book) and she thinks that he just wants to be with her because she was able to "fix" him. Adam is slow to realize that he actually wants Kelsey and is more than willing to be the man she needs. There are screw-ups on both sides and neither one of them is good at just saying what they mean to each other. It was an enjoyable, funny read though and I really do recommend it. The ending was so nicely done. Not over the top - just right.
***ARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review. Book is FREE on Kindle Unlimited.
This book is never going to be mistaken for "War and Peace" and that is completely ok. It was sweet, sexy, dirty, irreverent, silly, LOL at times, touching, annoying, and a complete blast to read. I enjoyed the two MCs, Adam and Kelsey. Their banter was silly, dirty, over the top, and real. There were some scenes when I thought "what the heck is going on?" Others where I rolled my eyes a little because it was so over the top. But not once did I stop reading. It was that much fun to read. Sometimes you just want a book that's fun to read and that's KH in this one.
Adam - a wounded war hero whose dirty, sexy, handy, has an out of control dog, loyal, and is slightly broken. What was not to love about him? Not a damn thing.
Kelsey - a little all over the place. Reading her book made me LOL, cringe, and remember reading old historical romances just like that. She was silly, strong, emotional, owned her sexuality, stood up for herself and her daughter, and slightly wounded from her ex-husband and ex-best friend. God forbid if that ever happens to me or a friend we come out on the other side with our head held high and our sense of humor intact.
If you've never read KH before be warned she writes a dirty book with MCs who love sex, talk about sex, and love each other. This book was fun, hot, and just what a summer romance should be. Thanks, KH, for the ARC.
This is my first book by this author and it was a good one to start with. We have a single mom and a bad boy hot neighbor. Our H is Adam and our h is Kelsey.
Adam is a former military man that was wounded and stitched back together. He buys a house with the intention of fixing it up and selling it. He has an uncontrollable dog named Spike that inadvertently puts his new neighbor on his radar.
Kelsey is a single mom with some serious trust issues. Her now ex-husband and ex-best friend are now together and she is alone. She is also an author and feels like after everything that happen to her, she has lost her words. Her best friend, Leigh, encourages her to join a dating site or hook up with her hot new neighbor.
As a single mom, I could connect with Kelsey. She was a good mother but was still hurting from what she had gone through. Adam, oh how my heart broke for you. What he went through in the military, losing a friend and now trying to help his wife, being stitched back together, he had been through so much. I love how sweet he was with Kelsey and how he instantly fell in love with Clarissa. This was a great book to begin with and I will definitely look into more from this author.
Kelley Harvey you've done it again!!! Kelsey is a romance writer. She is raising her young daughter alone after her cheating husband leaves them. Kelsey has writers block and she has a deadline to meet, her friends suggest getting back out there but men and relationships are off the table because she doesn't trust them to stick around anymore so she's not going there, until she meets her hot bearded, very nosey, dirty talking new neighbor. Adam is a military vet who has returned home from his tour overseas with more than a few issues one being survivors remorse. He's not lookng for a relationship either but the beautifully curvy and mouthy red head next door has him question what he does want. I love the banter and sexy innuendos that each of the main characters throw at each other and the sexy scenes where hot. All together I was laughing one minute and needed a fan in the next. All the secondary characters made this book even better Kelsey's daughter is such a sweetheart. I would definitely recommend this book to all those who love a romance thats hot, steamy and has a dirty talking alpha male. I was given an ARC of this book for my honest review
Kelsey, an author, and recently divorced single mother meets her new neighbor Adam, a veteran, with a story of his own to tell, in this sweet, funny, and wonderfully spun story. This story was absolutely hilarious in parts with situations that felt like I was glancing into my own life at times. It's a very relatable and fun read that had me hooked from the first few pages when Kelsey meets her new neighbor. It has all the trimmings of what it's like to be neighbors, steamy sexy scenes, funny word plays, and a nice HEA. Both characters are three dimensional and fun to read about about. This book made me smile, tear up at times, and literally "laugh out loud". Kelley Harvey did a great job with this story, making the characters relatable, adding some humor, while keeping all the hot steamy factors. Will Adam help Kelsey find her words as she struggles to write her next book? Will Kelsey help Adam find release as he struggles with the past? Read and find out, it's a journey worth taking.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is my first book by Kelley Harvey and I absolutely loved it! The main characters of Kelsey and Adam were great. I loved the chemistry between them for the time they met until the end. This book was filled with romance and humor as well as heartbreak. Both characters have on going problems in their lives. Kelsey is dealing with the betrayal of her ex husband and raising her daughter. Adam is former Army vet dealing with all that mental and physical issues that come from it. She is afraid to be hurt again and he is afraid to put him self on the line and risk getting rejected for what he sees are reasons someone would not love him. Without giving away the main issues these two face I would have to say this book is a must read. I also enjoyed the secondary characters in the book. From Kelsey's mother and her adorable daughter to the cat and dog each own. This story ended like it should. With an HEA! I will have to go and read the first two stories in this series. I have a feeling those are just as good.
This book is ridiculously fantastic! They both made me laugh so hard! I loved everything about this book! Apart from her douche of an ex-husband! I loved the banter between Kelsey and her best friend! I loved how much she loved her daughter! This book is brilliant. It has everything you could possibly need or want. Oh and the love/hate between the cat and dog is funny. The situations they put their owners in, can be quite fun! Kelsey has had he heart broken but I think the worst of the hurt was from her so called best friend! She doesn't want to fall into the same trap again! But Adam moves in next door and it all changes! He has a few things going on in his life. He is a wounded Vet but his is not a normal problem. But as he gets closer to Kelsey and then her daughter, everything for him changes. He wants everything he thought he may never have. But I think it is down to guilt that he wants to deny himself of everything. The storyline was cool and it flowed beautifully! Nothing seemed to be missing and it hit all the right spots! *happy sigh* Thank you for a wonderful read!
What a great new story by Kelley Harvey which is Kelsey and Adam's story. Kelley is a single mother, dealing with a lot in her life – being a mom, an author and her ex. Adam buys the house next door to her intending to fix it up then sell the house. Yet when these two meet, its this wicked chemistry and heat between the two at first sight. I wanted them to get together so bad but these two fought it and well, life sort of got in their way---Kelsey has serious trust issues all because of her ex – he really did a number on her. Adam is ex-military and while in, he was injured and got wounded. He has these thoughts that he is now ugly due to the wounds he suffered. Due to what these two people suffered/are suffering, will they let what happened to them keep them from experiencing a love of a lifetime? This has some epic love scenes, some fantastic lovemaking, Great sexual tension, emotional angst, good storyline that flows and the humor in here will have you rolling on the floor.
My rating: 4.6 stars ***** **I was given an ARC by the author in exchange for an honest review***
So. Long. has to be one of my favorite books so far this year. It's sexy, sweet, hilarious, and a little thoughtful. Kelsey is a romance writer with writer's block and Adam is her next door neighbor, a man flipping the house next door, and has some emotional and physical issues due to his time in the military. They meet when Adam sees up her sleep shirt as she's climbing her tree to rescue her terrorist cat, Chloe. And when I say sees up her sleep shirt, I mean he sees EVERYTHING!
Adam is all kinds of sexy and Kelsey is having a hard time writing her erotic romance that is due yesterday, and Adam offers to *help* with her problem. He helps her alright, in more ways than one. But they end up feeling more than either expected. He's such a sweetheart to her little girl, and he's so much more of a man than her ex d-bag husband, and Kelsey helps him get past some of the insecurities his military service left him with. You just knew they'd fall in love, and they did. Their journey to that was a little rocky, but so worth it.
I LOVED this book! It has everything I look for in a book :
✓ Hunky alpha ✓ Relate able heroine ✓ Humor ✓ Angst ✓ Hot & steamy
Right away I connected with Kelsey and it didn't take me long to be swooning over Adam. I fell in love with them both and really didn't want the story to end. The antics had me laughing out loud and my family questioning my sanity at times when I'd just start laughing for no apparent reason (they're not readers. . . they just don't understand!).
Kelley's writing is always so flawless and her style in this book is no different. She will pull you in with the first few pages and keep you wanting more even after the story has ended.
If you are looking for a romantic read, with a lot of (super) hot & steamy scenes, a swoon worthy hero, and a relate able heroine, with the bonus of lots of laughs and real life mishaps, then I HIGHLY recommend this book to you!!
