Welcome to Grizzly Cove, where the sheriff has more than the peace to protect. The proprietor of the new bakery in town is clueless about the dual nature of her nearest neighbors, but not for long. It’ll be up to Sheriff Brody to clue her in and convince her to stay calm—and in his bed—for the next fifty years or so. Yeah, that might be enough. Then again, maybe he’ll keep her forever.
* PLEASE NOTE: This NOVELLA will release first in the LOVE EVER AFTER box set, which comes out on September 15, 2015. Meaning - you can get this story earlier in the box set, at a lower price. Check it out.

I wish this was better, but isn't that how it always goes? Of course I wanted better because who really wants to get a book with the notions of I want to be bored to tears and disappointed.
The sheriff falls for the town baker and I'm not really sure where it goes after that. I mean it seemed like a story was coming, but it never did. Even the whole "you're my mate" was stupid. Nothing happens, they have sex and he says yup you're my mate, you can never leave. *yawn yawn
There was a Koala bear brought it that made me laugh but even that was pointless.
Oh well. I'm glad it was short and helped me fall asleep.
The plot was so light that I was bored at 50% and had to take a break to read another book. That is saying something in a story this short. I did finish it (or I would not be rating). All About the Bear is a sweet girl-meets- bear shifter romance, and that is about all there is to it.
If you are looking for a little more adventure and interesting plot in your steamy pnr, then I recommend Bianca D'Arc's Tales of the Were and Brotherhood of Blood series.
Great add to Bianca D'Arc's paranormal collection. Can be read without reading her other Paranormal books. Light hearted read. Hot but not too hot. She had me laughing within the first few pages!
This is a light story with no real challenge except the (quickly addressed) issue that the new bakery store owner in town does not know the town is full of male bear shifters.
This actually reads quite sexist, though of course the writer wouldn't mean it that way. The bears have got together in their own mountain community and spied on anyone who wanted to come and open a business there, permitting only a family of three young ladies. So the men would not have allowed other (human) men nor married women, nor indeed a family. As the men have great strength and sometimes grumpy natures, the women are at something of a disadvantage. But they are expected to accept the situation, because the bears decided that the isolated women will not run to the papers - or presumably social media, not mentioned.
Provided you're good with that, and don't mind the possessive, mine for ever, nature of the romance, it's a fun story and has well written characterisation. This is an adult romance with explicit scenes.
I downloaded an e-ARC. This is an unbiased review.
All About the Bear had the potential to be the start of a great series. Unfortunately, the book failed to deliver what I had expected.
Sure, there were a couple of cute things. However, these elements were buried under things that I wasn’t crazy about. There were a lot of information dumps, instead of letting the details emerge naturally. Things played out extremely quickly, and I feel like there was never any moment where there was a large amount of drama. Plus, things felt rather flat.
In truth, this was more of a one-point-five-star rating. I couldn’t bring myself to give it a single star, but it’s not a full two-star rating either.
Big John had a plan and now it's come to pass...He has put together a group of bears and they have established Grizzly Cove, a new town where bear shifters can relocate and live a life like normal people with Sheriff and all...
Sheriff Brody has always had en eye on the cute human Nell Baker that owns the only bakery in town. She and her younger sisters Ashley and Tina are the first humans allowed in the Cove as a trial run to see if humans can be let in to their idyllic little town without the fear that they will be outed to the world. Problem is Brody doesn't want to make a move on Nell because he wants her to know all about him before he does.
Koala shifters are very rare and a drunken unknown just come into the bakery may be just the solution to his love problem.
- The grumpy drunken koala. "Cute little fuckers, aren't they?" I laughed so hard.
- The architecture of the hero's house. This might seem like a weird thing to praise but I really liked how well thought out the design was, merging what a bear might want in a den and what a man might want for his family. Also, it sounds beautiful.
- The hero reminiscing about a childhood spent "rolling around in a berry patch in his fur". Such a sweet image. I'm thinking Paddington Bear and his marmalade vibes...
The Cons
- More novella than novel - ten short chapters. Because of these constraints...
- Most of the protagonists' interactions have already happened when we join them. We don't see them developing a friendship which means...
- It all feels much more instalove-y than it really is. Had there been a few more chapters, it might have been a smidgen more believable, although there's no escaping the "romantic" after about a day and a half of sort-of dating.
The last to know Such a perfect little short story to start off a new series. I enjoyed the concept of an all bear shifter town. The author put so much detail into the descriptions and the characters that I can already tell each book will only get better. I love that a surprise reveal in front of the sheriff gets the mate ball rolling. I think Nell took everything pretty well Especially the drunk koala. I really can’t wait to read the next book. Which bear will fall next, or will it be one of the sisters.
Liked other books by the author, sadly this is DNF @ 27%. It opened poorly with a koala 'bear'- koalas are not bears. So that was jarring, then three sisters have opened a cake shop in a town where they are the only women. A café makes sense but the only store in the town is a cake shop, for men? I'm out.
Bastante aburrido para un libro tan corto. Se da vuelta una y otra vez sobre el mismo punto, que tiene resolución fácil. Me mareaba bastante qué cambiara de pov en el mismo capítulo, de un párrafo a otro, sin previo aviso.
Seems like a wonderful intro to a spin off series. I could have used more! Love sexy bear shifters! It looks like the rest of the books are novellas as well. Short sweet read.
Between 2 and 3 stars, but not enough to really round up. Pleasant read but still "just OK."
Three sisters move into a town to open their bakery. Brody (H), the local sheriff, knows that Nell (h) is his mate, but she doesn't know that she and her sisters have set up shop in a town of bear shifters. Until one day a drunk koala shifter stumbles into her bakery...
I liked the koala bit. We don't get a lot of them in shifter stories, and I kinda like when we get the unique animals - more than just bears and wolves and big cats (though I do love me some big cat stories). I'd love to see the crazy little koala get his HEA.
As for the rest of it... well, there really wasn't much there. They're each interested in the other, but holding back for one reason or another. She discovers he's a bear... and that's really it. That's the drama. I know it's only a short story, but this was light, even for that. Maybe because it's the first in a series, and so much times was spent explaining the town and its backstory and so forth? And I guess it was supposed to be funny that her sisters already knew, but it was really just anticlimactic. I mean, I'm not even gonna Spoiler Alert that comment, it was so bland. And that's really the word for this story - bland. It's nice and sweet and the series itself might grow to more, but this one just didn't have much to it.
Alternating 3rd person POV. No cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle nonsense. Very obviously an introduction to a new series, because it was kinda an info-dump of the town and its backstory. Very little meat on its bones, and didn't leave all too much of an impression. Light, fast, fluffy. HEA and no cliffhanger.
Would I read more from this series/author? Sure. I got this one as a bundle on Kindle - the first three books in the series. This one was fast and pleasant, so I'm not opposed to reading the next two. However, it looks like we might have a very similar plot in the next two - it's the other two sisters in the family who are the next two female leads. Not opposed to family series, but three bear-and-baker books in a row might be a bit redundant, and we didn't get much of a picture here of how unique each of the sisters are. So, yes, am willing to continue the series, but not really in a hurry to do so either.
In an all shifter town designed that way by shifters, they’d made an exception for the human sisters who set up a bakery shop in Grizzly Cove. While the majority of the world has no idea that shifters exist, this small town is seen as an artist’s colony with lovely artwork, a down home feeling and a picturesque location. That is about to change because of one drunk bear and his actions.
Brody has been attracted to Nell since she and her sisters moved to town. But he cannot imagine keeping half of himself a secret from her so he’s been content with stopping in to her shop for lunch several times a week. Just to make sure she’s safe, of course. When a stranger to town shows up in Nell’s shop and does something stupid – well, Brody’s options go out the window, as well as the town’s secrets.
Nell and Brody’s romance is quick, sexy and without drama. We meet a few of the other members of town, but this story felt very much like an introduction to the town type of romance.
All Abut The Bear was a short, enjoyable read. Yet, I’m not completely sure at this point if I’ll follow the series to the end. I usually do not admit to that upfront, but while this first story is fun and entertaining – without some conflict, some villain to overcome, I do not know if a simple yet lovely boy meets girl, shows her his bear, she accepts and they live happily ever after is enough for me. It seems that the dangers of the shifter world draws me more than I thought it did. I’ll pick up the next story in the series, Mating Dance, and see how I feel after that one.
Nell and her two sisters moved to a sleepy town called Grizzly Cove, Washington and started their business. Everything was going great until she abruptly realized that they were the only humans in a town of shifters. Now, the sheriff who she has had a thing for since she moved in is pursuing her and no longer has a reason to hold back. Can she keep the secret and possibly gain so much more?
This is a book I downloaded for free during a promo and I am glad I did. It is a cute, fast paced, little read. Emphasis on little. The entire story is 80 pages long. As cute as the story is it isn't long enough or exciting enough to justify a $5 price tag. Free worked well as a snippet into the series. I really liked the characters and the setting. I am trying not to give everything within the book away as it is very short.
Brody has wanted Nell since she first came to town, but since she was a human there was nothing that could be done. Until a drunk came to town and shifted right in front of her. Now that the secret is out she is fair game. As long as she can keep the secret that is. But Brody has no doubts that she can keep their secret and hopefully his bed warm.
I am sure Nell's sisters will be getting their own books in this series and that would also be a fun read. I am hoping for a bit more girth to them, however. And maybe a bigger arc than if she's going to accept him or not.
Somehow I started this series without reading the first three books in the series. I don't know how that happened. Okay, I lied, I do know how it happened. I kinda noticed a book of hers up for review and jumped on it and after I started it realized it was part of a series.
My bad!
I did go back to read the first three so I'm caught up to where I left off and can now continue reading the rest in the series.
I really enjoyed All About the Bear. Great title, right! Both Nell and Brody are likable characters. I also enjoyed her sisters are in books two and three so don't worry, you'll enjoy more of them.
This book opens with some laugh out loud humor. The scene inside the bakery is so funny. Or at least it was to me. What can I say, I'm easy to amuse.
The romance happens quickly between these two but really with shifters it always does. They are perfect for a short story. No need for to much romance. As a whole, this is a great introduction to the town and some of the characters. I'm so glad I went back to read it. It's a quick read so you can do it in one afternoon. Less than 100 pages. But well worth the time.
Okay, not gonna lie, I barked out a laugh when the big baddie drunk shifted into a Koala Bear. That was the highlight for me. What had me DNFing quicker than a drunk dude shifting, the fact that as soon as Sheriff Grizzly Bear shifted, he was suddenly in love with the baker lady. Like a minute before, it never crossed his mind. Mind you, it wasn't some fated mates business where he fell for his mate at first-sight. Nah. He saw her as a nice human lady, but once she saw his grizzly, he was all MINE.
Not gonna lie, the Koala laughter dried up right quick and turned into an eye roll, to the point I closed the book out and deleted it. Not a fan of insta-love. I don't mind it if it's fated mates, but the guy had been around the woman like 3 times per day for MONTHS and had nary a romantic or lustful thought about her, and it wasn't a metaphysical connection all the sudden either.
Nell and her two sisters needed a fresh start in life. Setting up a bakery seemed like the perfect choice.
Nell had the responsibility of her two younger sisters. She had to after her parents died, then some time later, her grandparents too. They all worked in a bakery for years, so opening there own store was a no brainer. Getting approval from a small town wasn't easy, but they were allowed to push forward. Brody, the town's sheriff, kept things going in the town. Not much to do, but keep the peace. Everyone in this town was some sort of bear shifter. Letting in 3 human sisters was a trail run for the town. Brody couldn't understand the instant drawl to the oldest sister, Nell. He couldn't tell her about the town, but knew he needed to be near her. How fate likes to step in, magical it seems.
MY RATING GUIDE: 3.5 Stars. This was a bit of a lark :D - fun, light, without angst and a story that flowed well. I enjoyed it. It balanced with my other current book - a long (20hr) Horror/Sci-fi/Thriller novel - quite well. I hope this light tone continues throughout the series. Many shifter series are dark or “sexcapades” from cover to cover. Some readers stated they were bored out of their minds with AATB; I thought it fun. This is a new-to-me author.
1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/fairly good; 3.5= I enjoyed it; 4= I LIKED THIS A LOT!; 5= I Loved this; it was great! (I SELDOM give 5 Stars).
Sheriff Brody’s job is to protect the peace in Grizzly Cove, WA and the safety of its citizens. Nell and her 2 sisters are among the few and the latest women to arrive and establish a business in the little town. When a drunk newcomer enters Nell’s bakery, begins an argument with the sheriff and then suddenly removes his clothing, Nell isn’t expecting a small, furry Koala bear to suddenly appear from nowhere. What just happened?? Someone has some explaining to do!
Comments ~ 1) ALL ABOUT THE BEAR is book1 in Bianca D’Arc’s Grizzly Cove 17bk Bear Shifter series. I enjoyed this light, quick reading, playful story and look forward to checking out the others in the series. AATB is a complete story, with its own conflict, romance and HEA. There are no cliff hangers. 2) AATB isn’t a complex story but it was fun. I recommend it to readers looking for: > a light & fun paranormal romance. > an easy “decompress” romance novel. > a light shifter romance (bears). > a Sweet, quick reading romance. > a light, fun palate cleanser. > a paranormal series with the aforementioned traits. I hope this light tone continues throughout the series. Many shifter series are dark or “sexcapades” from cover to cover. This felt fun.
(UPDATE: After reading bks 2 & 3, which I enjoyed to diminishing degrees, I see a witch (main) character is introduced into the series in bk4, I believe. Since the series is titled Grizzly Cove, I expected a series about “bears” and other shifters, not delving into the occult). Eyeroll. So I’m done.
READER CAUTIONS ~ PROFANITY - Yes. Occasional strong language used. VIOLENCE - Minor fisticuffs. SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Open-door Intimacy occurs but doesn’t dominate the story. Fairly easily skipped if preferred.
This is a story about Ando who was told by his older brother to get his shit together. And Jules who saw and helped save a girl who would have been killed if she didn't do something. They both are staying by the water she is house sitting and taking a break and Ando is trying to go into the water. Jules is a spitfire and Ando likes that about her. I loved this book, I can't wait for the next one, the characters in the first book are brought into the story but these can be read alone books. You won't be disappointed. Elle gets you in the beginning and you don't what to put the book down. I have read her other books and loved them also. Elle tells her story with such love for the characters.
Introduces Grizzly Cove - a new community of were-bears in the forest of Washington State... bears are generally independent/solitary, but the core have worked together (military) over the years, and are ready to settle down...
they allow the Baker sisters to move into town, open a bakery/café (bears do like their sweets) living above the café...
and Sheriff Brody has his eye on Nell Baker - the oldest sister. When she takes it fairly in stride when a visiting changeling shifts to koala in her shop, he takes the opportunity to help her see their reality... and to invite her to his beautiful home...
and they are mated... ahhh
her sisters had figured out the were shifters within weeks of moving in, so they weren't surprised.

After dealing with the stress of another read, I decided to get in a refresher, one of those shorter works that helps you get off of an emotional roller coaster. Thankfully, I found it in this novella by Bianca D'Arc.
"All About the Bear" is about a town made up of only bear shifters...well, and three sisters who just happened to have stumbled into town. When one of the sisters discovers the town secret, and the fact that her crush is a grizzly, what is she to do?
Obviously, being little more than a short story there were some limitations and I was disappointed because it wasn't longer and gave absolutely no character development whatsoever, but for the purpose of being a fun refreshing read, it was definitely likable.
