Lisa Weaver loves living in Maine, although she occasionally fantasizes about moving to a locale with milder temperatures. On the upside, the long, cold winters give her plenty of time to plot her next romance.

She also loves books, and can't imagine a world without the written word to enrich us, inspire us, entertain us, and touch our hearts. She's thrilled to make a small contribution to the treasure trove. She began her writing career penning articles and short stories, but it has long been her dream to write romance novels. Thanks to the Amazon Kindle Scout program, that dream is now a reality.

Lisa is the first to admit her romances aren't serious literature. She thinks of her stories as fluffy, fun, romantic romps--like decadently rich cupcakes, heavy on the frosting.

His Captivating Confidante (Secret Sentinels) by Lisa Weaver is a book from the Kindle Scout list. I usual get good books when I win books so I checked out books from the Kindle list. I wanted to try to expand my reading to what I don't read- romance. I have been reading a few lately and have not had good luck with them. This one is okay. I like the book length. A cute plot, developed characters but it just didn't hold my interest. It just may be me because it just isn't my genre.

What happens when a sexy former agent of the CIA, Frank Ireland, discovers that Stephanie, one of his best friends he’s known since their childhood, isn’t the innocent, sweet, amiable librarian everyone believes her to be? Instead her mundane occupation is merely a cover for her being a secretive hard-nosed bodyguard.

It’s kismet when he accepts a job working for a stealthy protection company known for its high-class customer base, and winds up working alongside Stephanie to track down the murderer of a former CIA partner when he discovers this secret she’s kept under wraps. Naturally this brings out the proverbial curiosity killed the cat scenario making him determined to undercover any other secrets hiding beneath the facade she so skillfully exhibits.

Frank knows the personal vengeance he’s decided to undertake is fraught with danger and has to wonder whether he’s able to safeguard her at the same time.
Given their on-going, growing relationship since childhood, it’s easy to imagine how she desires to have him as a lover not merely a friend. However, the dangers of his mission begins to not only interfere with their now blossoming relationship of romance, it’s also a danger to their very existence as well.
Things be told, Frank has also kept secrets from Stephanie, secrets which make him wonder if he can ever allow his heart to accept her as an importance part of his life?
As we know from our own experiences, secrets can become very destructive, and as one reads this story, one has to wonder whether this will be the case here?
In reading this book, my mind couldn’t resist listening to The Beatles’ “Do You Want to Know a Secret?” If you don’t know/remember the song here at the lyrics:

You'll never know how much I really love you
You'll never know how much I really care
Listen do you want to know a secret
Do you promise not to tell woh woh woh closer
Let me whisper in your ear
Say the words you long to hear
I'm in love with you oo
I've known the secret for a week or two
Nobody knows just we two
Listen do you want to know a secret
Do you promise not to tell woh woh woh closer
Let me whisper in your ear
Say the words you long to hear
I'm in love with you oo

For having given me and her readers, an intriguing romance story, laden with tension; I’ve given this endeavor by Ms. Weaver 5 STARS.

His Captivating Confidante

This book was an okay romance but a big tease. There were times I thought it was really good and times I thought it would never end. I would recommend it for a sleepy day.

Good

Good storyline and quite an idea for a bodyguard company in the protection business to get that close. I like the stand alone storylines in the series that still have a connecting thread running through them.

It took effort to get through this book. I clearly errord on joining this mid-series, so I felt as if I was doing a lot of catching up as the author dumped past history into the story. It felt disjointed. It also felt waaay too fantastical, like bad 80's television about secret agents played by sexy B-level actors. This genre has been done better and needs more capable hands to create a smooth rhythm, plausible character dynamics and intrigue.
