The Hard Sell

Rate this book
Lily Brook works in men's underwear, but she would love to get Jack Stewart out of his.

Lily hasn't dated anyone worth writing home about for years. So when she meets the impossible and impossibly handsome Jack Stewart--well, you could say he piques her interest. It doesn't matter that he's the cockiest asshole this side of the Mason-Dixon line.

Jack Stewart is destined for success. With his designer suits, intense hazel eyes, and penthouse apartment, he's the total package. But he's also the manager of Hamilton's Department Store--the store where Lily could make or break her career. He would never fraternize with an employee. And there's no way in hell Lily would risk her job on the hottest guy in Philadelphia. Right?

But she can't stop imagining what he'd look like in a pair of Flash Fit's sexy male underwear...

He shouldn't dip his wick in the company's ink, but he can't resist Lily's curvaceous body and wacky charm. He wants Lily--in the break room, the dressing area, everywhere.

Making a move on Jack could end her career. But can Lily resist his Hard Sell?

4.5 Stars ~ You can read this and other reviews at Inked in Chapters

Let’s talk rom-com:
Who loves them? Better question: who doesn’t? There’s something about a little comedy and some gooey love that makes women (and some men) swoon. We get lost in the fun and the bickering. We look forward to the next time the characters will lose their cool. We hold our breath as they fall in love and then, in-turn, screw the whole thing up. The Hard Sell is no exception. Exploring new authors is always hit or miss. There’s no telling what you’ll get. But from page one, Lulu had me. She had me!

Let’s talk Lily:
I was in love from the moment she talked about losing her wallet in her bag. I swear there’s a black hole it escapes to when it doesn’t want to be found.

“Of course, my backpack has eaten my wallet. Shit. It never matters how big or small the purse (or backpack) is, they always manage to swallow the only thing you need, right when you need it.”

She’s a hardworking, tough, crude business woman with a heart of gold. The woman knows her ass from her elbow and can dress any man’s privates in the appropriate manties. What I’m saying here is that Flash Fit, the underwear line she works for, hit the jackpot when they hired her. She now has a chance at a regional position with the company but first must prove herself by increasing sales in the swanky Hamilton’s department store, located in the heart of Philly. There’s just has one obstacle – Jack Stewart, Manager of Men’s Basics.

Let’s Talk Jack:
He’s a dick.

Okay, not really. He just appears to be one for a good portion of the book. He’s also being blackmailed by an ex he can’t shake, has a gossip hungry sister, is trying to prove himself to his to daddy dearest, and carries the nickname ‘Jack hammer’ around just like the damn clipboard he won’t put down. Oh, and he’s super sexy. Annoyingly so. He also intends on making Lily’s life hell. Sexual frustration can be a dangerous thing, friends.

Beyond the banter (which is fabulous), the story unfolds nicely. It’s obvious Jack has some skeletons in his closet, ones he, of course, is intent on telling Lily but doesn’t…
Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Let’s talk sex:
It’s crazy hot. There’s a little exploration in the bedroom, but nothing too intense. It’s a comfortable mix, for those of you who are less into kinky playtime. They’re pretty daring on the places they choose to partake in some sexercise. It actually makes the book a little steamier, causing it to stand out more in my memory.

Let’s talk ‘the end’:
This one wraps up pretty quickly. Usually I’m not a fan of that. I like long drawn out angst ridden sessions where hearts are shattered and lives are changed. This break up was more like a temporary scratch, fixed with a little art therapy and some Neosporin. But it worked.

There were a few tiny issues I had with the book: dinner magically removing itself from the oven, slapped faces that were never actually written into the story (that I can recall…) Silly things that are really inconsequential.

Do I think you should read The Hard Sell? Hell yeah, I do. We have a bright, strong, hardworking, sassy heroine and a gruff, straight-laced, gorgeous hero. They butt heads. They fall for one another. What’s not to like? Honestly, guys, add this one to your TBR list and make sure to pick it up on release day. (9/26/2016)

Lily and Jack had an awesome combination of smart, funny, the banter between them is what did it for me though. I was pulled in from the get go and I couldn't put this book down! Storyline had alot going for it. I liked the whole boss and and employee bit and has some plot twist that I hadn't seen coming. The characters were very well developed and for being this first for this author, she did amazingly well with it all. I would definitely recommend this to my girls!

First off I am absolutely blown away that this is Lulu's first book. It was extremely well written and I was pulled into the book from page one. The book is a unique idea that was fresh and never boring. The connection and banter between Jack and Lily was entertaining and made me laugh often. They both received as much as they could give. As much as Jack was a hard*ss boss you just knew that there was more to him why he was that way. You just had to get to know him and peel back the layers to find out why he is who he is. Lily is a strong no no nonsense type of girl who doesnt put up with Jack's crap yet she is drawn to him. I loved how the book was a revolution of their relationship over some time. There was a moment where I was absolutely swooned and cried. My heart was definitely leaping out of my chest. You can not forget about the side characters who gave the book a added flare. Please give this new author a chance. I guarantee you that you will love this story as much as I did. Well done Lulu! I can not wait to read more books from you!

This is a fun and romantic story set in an upmarket department store. I could not believe that this was a debut novel from this new author and in the words of Bruce Forsyth ‘didn’t she do well!’

Jack Stewart has spent the last five years trying to make up for a silly mistake he made when he was young and a bit reckless. His father has pretty much ignored him since then and he is desperate to prove to himself and his family that he has changed. He is now the Men’s Basics Department Manager at a Hamilton Department Store and is preparing for the annual visit from the big cheese. He wants his floor to be in top shape, that includes getting rid of slow moving lines and having the right staff working the floor.

Lily Brook is a merchandiser for Flash Fit, a top of the line range of mens underwear. She is currently under consideration for a huge promotion but before that she needs to do something about the terrible sales slump across all the Hamilton department stores. Best place to start is at the Center City branch.
Lily is not looking forward to working with Jack Stewart, purely based on the gossip and heresay she has heard about him.

It would be fair to say that the first time they meet is a huge disaster! There is no denying that Jack is a very good looking man but there is a bit of arrogance thrown in too that completely pisses Lily off. She is determined to prove her worth not just to her boss now but to Jack also. Sure, she may be cute with a rockin body but she is very passionate about her work and knows her stuff.

It doesn’t take long for the attraction to build between Lily & Jack. Little innuendos, subtle body contact and a few other ‘moments’ seem to be pointing towards something happening between the sheets. Jack runs hot and cold though, making it really hard for Lily to figure out what he wants from her. They are both very career focused but everyone needs some down time right – preferably involving an orgasm or three.

What will happen when Lily discovers all of Jack’s closely guarded secrets, will she still see him the same way? More importantly, just how hot is Jack between the sheets? Forget the sheets, try the store room cupboard… oops, did I say that out loud?

This story is told in alternating POV’s so it’s great to see what is going through each of their minds. For me it was a fantastic read with plenty of steaminess and so many laugh out loud moments. I can’t wait to see what Lulu Wright does next.

The Hard Sell is filled with plenty of bantering, teasing and a pretty big secret. I love the characters because they have spunk and attitude.

Lily Brook is spunky, career driven but her love life needs CPR. Lily is re-assigned to the Hamilton Men’s Basics Department to revive her companies dying men’s underwear line and she will be working with Jack Steward the Men’s Basics manager. She has a difficult job ahead but she’s confident in her skills.

Jack Steward is career driven, has a stick up his butt and an ex-girlfriend who doesn’t get the hint. Jack’s determined and wants to continue to promote. He has worked hard and for a good reason. Lily has an uphill battle to increase profits and pull the stick out of Jack’s butt. Jack maybe what Lily needs to revive her love life if he can figure out how to properly woo a girl. Although his Fantasy Chest was a good start.

I really enjoyed the bantering and crazy antics. Lily is a go-getter and her determination pays off. Her choice in clothing turns up the heat and makes working in retail interesting. Lulu Wright has sold me! I'm adding her to my must read list. 4.5 Stars!

Well,

First, I'm so glad that I got the chance to read this amazing and funny book thanks to J.D. Hawkins' recommendation.

Thank you Mr. Hawkins ;)

Second, I'm really stunned to learn that this is Lulu Wright's bedut novel because it's enjoyable, funny with wonderful characters and an awsome story. I'm talking real AWESOME here.

Lily, the Queen of undewear, is sent to Hamilton department stores to sort a problem with the brand her company sells. If she succeeds in selling as many manties as she can, she will finally get the promotion she's dreaming about.

Not an easy task especially that Jack 'asshole' Stewart, men's Basics Manager is making the job as hard as she can handle.

But, she's the queen of underwear, and she will fight him tooth and nail to prove that Flash Fit is a brand worth keeping and finally get the promotion she always wanted.

Jack Stewart aka Jack Hammer 'The asshole' is a man with a heavy past. Working as a Men's Basics Manager is his only chance to prove himself and regain what he lost...

His work days were so steady with zero problems until a bomb hit him with her curves spelling coffee all over his pristine shirt and turning his world upside down.

The new merchandiser from Flash Fit, a brand that was causing Hamilton's numbers to go down and the one he will make sure to get rid of as soon as possible.

But it seems that Flash Fit is no longer playing fair because in less than a week the walking trouble in see through leggings named "Lily Brook", tripled the sales, drove him insane and had his heart at hello.

The Hard Sell is your chance to get all hot and bothered, meet a hot arrogant manager and learn some steamy French words...

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic comedy books with hot alpha heroes and sassy heroines and I'm sure Lulu Wright is gonna rock the world of romance since the debut novel is such a success.

When the Underwear Queen and the Hammer of Hamilton's Department Store get together, you better watch out because sparks are going to fly.

Lily Brook is strong willed, independent, hard working, career driving individual. She's just dumped her lasted boyfriend after catching him in a very compromising situation. But she's got bigger fish to fry, this latest assignment could lead to the very big promotion she's being hoping for. She'll let nothing stand in her way.

Jack Stewart is man on a mission running his department in Hamilton's with strong arm and a keen eye. Moving up the career ladder is his goal and no one is going to stand in his way in proving his the man for the job. Not one to mix business with pleasure, but getting on Lily's nerves is proving more fun than he thought.

The sexual tension between the two grows until there is no way to deny it. But Jack's keeping a secret that could blow everything out of the water. Can they make a relationship work, or will this just a short fling that will fizzle out in the end.

The Hard Sell is a sexy romantic comedy from debut author Lulu Wright and what a debut it is. Once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. The back and forth banter and witty comebacks will have you laughing out loud and the kinky, dirty talking will have you overheating. Jack is a walk wet dream with a seductive smile. Lily is a spitfire you can't help but love and want to be friends with. I love their work hard, play hard attitude. I, for one, would love to lock in the stockroom, dressing room, or wherever with Jack.

This book has a fascinating cast of supporting characters, a seductive heroine, a beefcake hero, and a mesmerizing story wrapped up in an enchanting package.

Review by Lisa Kane

Cute read about a determined, snarky girl trying to get that sought after promotion and the guy who is equally determined to give her a hard time!

Lily is trying to rescue sales at Hamilton's, an upscale Center City fixture in Philly. (Being from Philly I loved the local landmarks mentioned in the book!) Poor placement is ruining their sales. Jack Stewart runs a tight ship at Hamilton's and he wants to get rid of the line dragging down his sales numbers. Enter Lily with a plan...

Lily works her butt off to redesign the lay out and retrain the employees staffing her products. It doesn't take her long for things to turn around, but Jack Stewart is getting quite a kick out of putting obstacles in her way. His life is structured and focused on nothing but the business. (although avoiding his ex who works at the store takes up part of his day too) Of course he is hiding something-there must be a reason he never varies from the path his daily routine is set on-and Lily seems to be upsetting all his well laid plans.

Funny banter-sexy play in stockrooms and a story line full of secrets make this one well worth the read!

Yeah, I have a lot of cock in my life.
Sadly, most of it is just a tease.

Lily is the merchandiser off Flash Fit, a men's underwear brand. She loves her job, which offers her entertainment and variety daily. That all changes when the head of Hamilton department stores decides he isn't happy with with Flash Fit sales and Lily is brought in to fix it. It is up to her to make the brand profitable again in the Center City store if she wants to save her job. If she can pull off this feat there is even the chance for a promotion.

Jack Stewart is the Men's Basics manager for the Hamilton Center City department store. He wants the store's sales to soar and doesn't think Flash Fit is a good brand to help reach that goal. He will do anything to up sales, including get rid of the new Flash Fit merchandiser by any means possible.

To say Jack and Lily started off on the wrong foot would be the understatement of the year. From the first moment they met, Lily and Jack have clashed. He has an infuriating personality and seems to stop at nothing to make Lily's life more difficult. While she is trying to save the Flash Fit brand, Jack is trying to eliminate it all together. And this just doesn't work for Lily. Jack is also dealing with an ex who won't except that she is an ex which only adds to his frosty demeanor.

At first glance, Jack seems like an arrogant jerk but when we get to know more about him we realize he's hardworking and trying to put the mistakes of his past behind him. He has secrets he wants kept hidden but it seems it will be more difficult than he had hoped. As Lily and Jack begin to get along and give into the feelings they have developed for one another, it seems like it could be the start to something good. But everything changes when Jack's secrets are finally revealed. Can Jack win back Lily's trust and give them their HEA?

The Hard Sell was an enjoyable read that was sweet, sexy, and fun with well-developed characters. Though Lily and Jack seem to hate each other in the beginning, you could tell it was only a matter of time before they realize that first impressions are not always right. Along with the bickering and glaring, there is a lot of pent up sexual tension simmering just beneath the surface waiting to erupt. I loved their banter and trying to one up each other.
“What are you going to do, spank me?”
“I think you would enjoy that too much, Miss Brook.”
She smirks. “Maybe. But it’s not like I need to worry. You don’t have the guts, Jack.”
...
I can’t help but almost grin myself. I want to know how far she’ll take this. Or how far I will. We’re deep in this game of chicken now, and neither of us seem the type to back down. “Well, like you said, you aren’t technically an employee . . . So what else can a department manager do to keep his naughtiest merchandiser in line?”
She eyes the belt in my hand and then casts those deep brown eyes on me. Her smile turns devilish. “I dare you,” she whispers.
Challenge accepted.

When Jack and Lily are together, it is steamy. I loved how they discovered what they liked together and tried new things. They complimented each other inside and outside of the bedroom.

I loved Lily. I could totally relate to her. I loved her quirky ideas and found myself completely fascinated with her thought process. She cracked me up on numerous occasions and I could imagine being in her shoes.
Of course, my backpack has eaten my wallet. Shit. It never matters how big or small the purse (or backpack) is, they always manage to swallow the only thing you need, right when you need it.

I liked Lily's confidence and her drive to fix the situation with the Flash Fit brand. She was hardworking and wanted to get the job done. She cared so much about the brand and the people she worked with. I loved that she took Mona, one of the other employees, under her wing. She was also both daring and bold which made her even more interesting.

It took me a little while to warm up to Jack. He came across as an asshole in the beginning but when he started to warm up to Lily he showed his sweet side. To be honest, there were times I wanted to shake my head at him though. I understand some of his actions but the situations definitely could have been handled better. I did feel bad for Jack when his secrets were revealed and the actual consequences of his past actions hurt my heart.  He worked hard to become who he is and I loved that Lily saw the real him.

Overall, The Hard Sell is a great debut novel. I really enjoyed it and am excited to read more from Lulu Wright.

4.5 I'LL BUY IT CROWNS

I am absolutely sold on The Hard Sell, the debut novel from Lulu Wright. It is hilarious, romantic, and steamy, all the attributes of a romantic comedy that I love.

These characters and the chemistry between them make the entire book. Jack is the boss that runs a tight ship and has a tighter body. Even though he is incredibly good-looking, the initial impression is that of a jerk. He is combative, stubborn, and difficult, and yet, Lulu Wright creates a character that despite all these flaws the reader still loves him.

The heroine, Lily, is quirky, energetic, and not afraid to use her assets to get ahead and her promotion through the sales of men’s underwear. Her internal dialogue is hilarious and only serves to make her more endearing. She continually butts heads with the hero, resulting in insane chemistry. The antics, the battle for dominance, and the fight for attraction is highly entertaining.

The sexual chemistry between these two is off the charts. The places, the ways, the aggression between these two make for some pretty heat inducing scenes. Their energy and draw to each other comes across as authentic and oozes off the page. The characters’ adventurous nature, willingness to try new acts together make for some intense sex, and once again it plays as authentic, not as the author just trying to through in some kinky scenes. All I have to say is a trunk and some scrabble tiles makes for an excellent gift (husbands should take note)!

The secondary characters in this book are fantastic! Everyone from the parents to the friends within the Hamilton store are just utterly lovable, just as much as the main characters. They provide comedy, conflict, resolution, but they are more than just an impetus to push the plot forward. The reader enjoys the moments with them, in some cases, as much as time spend with the main characters.

I enjoyed the plot of the story. The author takes the time to develop the characters and their relationship. They don’t just jump into bed together, even with the ridiculous sexual chemistry existing between the two. Through their banter and trying to one-up each other, they begin to become acquainted. Their progression as a couple is perfectly paced. The conflict comes at the hands of a character the reader will see coming a mile away; however, I am not sure I was expecting the reaction from our heroine. Jake’s reaction to the conflict, his refusal to give up on them, will only serve to make the reader love him more. I do wish I would have had a more solid ending for them as a couple with the epilogue, but I am hoping we will get more from this crazy cast of characters or that we may see these two again.

What a fantastic debut for a new author! If this is her first book, I cannot wait to see where she goes from here. I am certainly looking forward to what comes next!

I am completely astounded that this is Lulu Wright's debut work. I was sucked into the world of Jack Stewart and Lily Brook from the first chapter. I am from New Jersey, across the bridge from Philadelphia, PA and it was so easy to just imagine all the places that Lulu Wright was describing in the book. Jack and Lily's story is one of my favorite types of books, corporate/office/forbidden lovers. Jack is corporate minded, with his eye on the prize. Lily has aspirations as well for a regional position and you can not reach your goals if you are dating the clients. Lily has trust issues thanks to a former boyfriend. Jack has a secret that could possibly take him down along with all his hard work and Lily's work as well or worse, cost her the dream job she had been working so hard to get . How could these two ever be more than just coworkers and still obtain their corporate dreams? The banter between these two characters is both humorous and hot! You can't help but fall in love with them and cheer for that "happy ending", hoping they can have it all!

Lily has works in men’s underwear and looks at men in their underwear all day long…..but what she would rather do is not only stare at Jack Stewart, the manager of the store she works in, in his underwear but get him out of his altogether…despite the fact he is one arrogant a*****e. But will Jack be able to convince her he is worth the risk to her job? To her career? Jack knows he shouldn’t fraternise with employees but he can’t resist and he knows it will be a hard sell, but he knows it will also be worth it.

“C**ks are in my face all day. I see pictures of hot male models with their legs spread showing off our crotch hugging underwear all the time. Boy beef I can’t touch. Yeah, I have a lot of c**k in my life. Sadly, most of it is just a tease.”

The Hard Sell is just a fun, light hearted, easy to read rom com that will keep you smiling and intrigued and with lead characters that are likeable and fun to read and who you want to get their heavily ever after! The first in this book got me hooked straight away- I knew it was going to a fun read with great banter and I wasn’t wrong.

“I want to explore his body and commit every muscle, every inch of flesh to memory. I want him to kiss me. I want to devour his mouth. His c**k, too. But, ugh, I wish I could give him a personality transplant first.”

Lily is hilarious!! She says it as it is and is strong and determined in what she wants from life….even if her love life is lacking a little at the moment. She was so easy to like and get to know within the story. She was independent but also wasn’t embarrassed about the fact she liked Jack and wouldn’t mind getting close to his…package.

“I can’t be efficient or practical about you, because the way I feel about you is completely impractical.”

And Jack…well what can I say about Jack!! Yeah he seems a bit of hard ass at times and acts a bit dick-ish sometimes but as the story develops you realise his life isn’t just plain sailing and he is battling his own insecurities and troubles- just like everyone else. The fact these troubles affected him made him human and I liked that we could relate to his frustrations with family and annoying ex’s. I think his banter and laughter with Lily just showed what a perfect match these two were!

“What are you going to do, spank me?”
“I think you would enjoy that too much, Miss Brook.”
She smirks. “Maybe. But it’s not like I need to worry. You don’t have the guts, Jack.”

This is definitely a rom com genre story, with the classic tale tell signs of the laughter, banter, sexiness and sexual tensions between the two characters- all things that normally come with a rom com. But we did have drama- the fact this is an employer and employee romance already adds a certain element of risk but we also have Jack’s daddy dearest issues, his problematic ex and Jack certainly has some skeletons in his closet. We also have plot lines you might not see coming which builds some tension and may leave you with some shocks, themes not always common in rom cons.

“She’s insatiable, my Lily. Good thing I can’t possibly get enough of her.”

Overall it was just such a enjoyable read which has everything you love about rom coms but also a little something extra as well- it will make you laugh, make you happy, keep you intrigued and wanting to get to the end to find out if Lily and Jack are able to move beyond everything and realise that they are actually quite perfect for each other!

4.5 " THE UNDERWEAR QUEEN MEETS KING OF COCKINESS" STARS!!!

“If you are going to do something, put everything you got into it.”
.
I am smirking and chuckling as I started with this book and take note with a wide eye and I thought, "way to start a debut novel is an opening line, "Cocks are in my face all day". And don't get me started with that cover either because man, that smile and that bod! Whew...worth swooning over and I feel like I will appreciate more if the model is in a Flash Fit underwear and a sexy one of course. That way I could lick it all over without missing a thing. However though, I could still make a way with what he's on. ;)

The Hard Sell by Lulu Wright is a sexy romantic comedy read that follows the story of Lily and Jack. I adored these characters. Lily for one is a strong heroine, a hardworking woman who knows what she wants and fought for it. I love her guts! Man, I wish I could be like her. The moment she opened her mouth I couldn't stop from laughing and smirking because this woman is just an ACE! Jack on the other hand is one hella of an asshole or he's trying to be, but once you know him surely you will fall in love with him. He's hot and filthy and flat out swoony. They just have great chemistry and with their banters and sexual tension. Man it's EXPLOSIVE!!! I am chuckling and grinning reading the book almost all the time minus that tingling sensation when of course you'll read that 'workplace lusting". Add up all those fantasy conversation and some workplace ass slapping and I'M ALL IN!!! Man, Lulu sure knows how to make some scorching and teasing romance that will leave you aching for more. Her writing is addicting and she knows how to lure you with her story. Sure it is lighthearted but more than the romance, more than the fun and the scorching scenes is something worth looking forward. It may not be angst-ish but sure it's a lot of fun reading. I enjoyed it.

Truth be told, I really have been obsessed with the book the moment I read the blurb and saw the matching cover. There's just something in it that really caught my interest. I'm a cover hoe it's not a secret but I am also a fan of ROMCOM so it's definitely a win book for me and I'm curious as to how this book will play out with all those ROMCOM books we have today. And I tell you, The Hard Sell couldn't be left behind in the ROMCOM genre. Lulu just delivered not just a lighthearted novel but gave us something more in depth and with a substance. It is one hell of a perfect debut novel! She NAILED it! In all caps, bold, underlined, with glitters!!! I literally cannot put it down. I was hooked and invested. And I am sooooo in love with it! And I might have call DIBS with Jack. ;)

I really had a good time with the book! Keep writing more stories Lulu! A must read!

✴ 2 1/2 - 3 STARS ✴

THE HARD SELL is author Lulu Wright's literary debut. This romantic comedy was just an OKAY read for me. It had an enemies-to-lovers angle full of funny flirtatious banter with a little newbie kink thrown in. This part I enjoyed. When our main couple was in the sack, the sexual chemistry was on fire! Out of the sack, not so much. I think the hero took it too far in the asshole department. I didn't warm up to him as much as I would have liked to. I needed more HEAT...more PASSION...more COMBUSTIBLE NEED between the two.

The witty and humorous dialogue between the two is what kept me turning the pages. The big secret reveal was predictable and I think it was pumped up too much. It really wasn't all that shocking. The the heroine got a little bit too upset for what the secret was, in my opinion.

Last but not least, my biggest pet peeve in a romance read...
There was absolutely NO declaration of love in this romance, which absolutely KILLS me! This might just be my preference, but when I read a romance, I need a freaking "I LOVE YOU," every now and again. Hell, it can just be ONCE at the end of the book! That's all I ask...three little words...the whole point of a romance. Anyway, if you don't need the I love you's and all you want is a quick romantic comedy with a predictable climax, you will want to give THE HARD SELL a try.

Do you like to laugh? Do you like hot men in underwear? Yeah, me too! The Hard Sell will give you both….well, OK so the men in the undies are mannequins but you get the idea ;)

Lily Brook is moving on up in her company….just one thing stands in her way. Impressing Mr. Hamilton on her new assignment is her number one focus, until she is distracted by the hotness that is Jack Stewart…panty melter, with a belt!

Watching the two of them argue, and tease, and toe the line was intense. Jack has his secrets and little by little things come out. The two of them have a back and forth relationship that will leave you whiplashed yet satisfied.

“Can girls get blue balls? If so I imagine it would feel something like this. I’m so bad that I’m almost tempted to hump the cart.”

And Jack is just so….how can I word this. Professional with a bad boy side at work. Stockrooms will never be the same for me!

“I can’t be efficient or practical about you, because the way I feel about you is completely impractical.”

Lily is independent and sassy. Jack is professional, yet not. Together they are the perfect combination that will keep you on your toes and guessing!

This one had everything going for it...the banter, hot sex, a fun story line...yet it still didn't totally work for me. I think because I never believed 2 things:

1. Her character- she seemed adolescent to me, and I was not able to relate
2. His "secret"- it just didn't work for me...I never believed that he would even be able to keep the secret.

I was also really thrown by the way the female character spoke...manties may be an industry term I have never heard (although I did work in retail management for years) but it was just juvenile. It's probably me, others likely loved it...but I was just not able to get past the characterization of the heroine to really embrace the story.

I am not able to recommend this book.

Did we just become book best friends?

Holy all things amazing. I absolutely do not believe that this is Lulu Wrights FIRST book! I must have read that incorrectly somewhere.

Lily is the most amazing character. She is focused on her career and very driven to move forward in it. She works hard and is great at what she does. Not only that but she is a spitfire. Very sassy, sexy, and smart! So many of the things she said had me laughing or nodding my head. I swear I just found my new book bestie!

Jack starts off pretty strict and straight laced, but luckily we get his POV and are quick to find that he is a pretty cool guy once you get past his prickly exterior. He's working hard to prove himself with his family and with his job.

I LOVED the love hate relationship between these two characters. Their banter was hilarious, their sexual tension was through the roof, and their relationship was sweet and hot all rolled into one perfect love ball.

The side characters were also great and actually really added to the story. They weren't just there for filler they mattered and I can't imagine this story without them!

Such an amazingly well written, quirky, and relatable read. Anyone who has ever worked in retail needs to read this story. Lulu Wright does a fantastic job of making this story ideal and dreamy while still being true to life. This is the perfect comedic romance to spice up your day!

Can't wait to see what is to come with this author!

As a debut novel this book was fantastic. I am eager to read more books by Lulu. Her writing was witty, well executed and pleasing to the reader. I really liked Jack and Lily's storyline. Here we have two persons highly career driven with strong personalities that have to work with each other for a common goal. That is the success of sales and surpassing the expectations of their bosses. Tensions grow as Lily doesn't bend to Jack's stuck up demands but challenges him with every opportunity she gets. The tensions go beyond work demands and as close as they become to fighting it the inevitable happens. With the sexual tension explored a romance ensues but crazy exs , sleazy co workers, and secrets come crashing down just as quickly. An enjoyable read and a great start to her writing career. Looking forward to more of what Ms Wright has to offer.

WOW Lulu did a great job giving us such a wonderful rom-com that just has it all. The characters in this book will make it impossible not to love, even Jack who comes off kind of stuck up until you get to know him. There is no way you won't absolutely LOVE Lily. The story is full of comedy, sexual tension, angst, secrets, anger, love, happiness, whew... let's just say that's a few words to describe what this book has.

Jack and Lily seem like a couple that could never work. Lily loves giving Jack a hard time and there is something about Lily that Jack has a hard time resisting. Jack is the serious type who doesn't come off nice most of the time, especially towards Lily. Lily is serious when it comes to selling the products for the company she works for but otherwise, she is sweet, feisty and funny. She loves giving Jack a hard time and although it gets him seriously mad, Jack likes it as well. A relationship between these two is a no no though but will they be able to resist? Secrets will be revealed and it may put an end to any idea of a relationship.

If you are looking for a book that will have you laughing from the witty banter between the two characters and have you swooning then this is for you. I will definitely be looking out for more books by Lulu in the future. She has found a fan in me!!

The Hard Sell is Lulu's debut novel and if I wasn't using my Goodreads I wouldn't of even know that since it was that good. I had a feeling I was going to be going on a fun ride from the very first sentence. Then after the meeting between Jack and Lily, I knew it was going to be both fun, and a bit crazy!

Lily Brook is a merchandiser for Flash Fit men’s underwear. The company is about to lose one of their biggest client's business because sales are down in their fifteen stores. So, they are sending her to the local Hamilton's store to sell the products by reorganizing, and to train the employees in the Basics department to sell, sell, sell. To get the product out there! She has three months to prove that sales will increase and for all of her hard work, she could get a promotion. She knew she could do this...she knows her underwear and she knows how to sell it. The problem? Jack Stewart - Men's Basics Manager. He got the last merchandiser fired. She also knows he is a hard ass. Up-tight man in a suit that never smiles. But what she didn't know was that while he is a hard-ass, he also has one. She is fucked.

Jack had a bad morning until he met her. A very beautiful, snarky, and pissed off Miss Brook. She infuriated him from the moment her met her and every second since. But, at the same time, he wanted her. He couldn't stop thinking about her. He loved teasing her throughout the day. She might call him an asshole or a prick on a daily basis but he could see that she wanted the same thing. A hot bang against a wall. But, they need to kept this very professional. They have both worked too hard to get where they are to throw it away because they can keep their hands to themselves. It should be easy since they have this whole "I hate you" thing going on. But then again, hate/lust relationships can be very hot and full of crazy fun. How long do you think they can hold out? And who is going to crack first?

I thought this was a great debut! Lily is one kick-ass woman! She knows exactly what she wants and goes for it. Who she wishes she didn't want was Jack. The arrogant, smart-ass, sexy prick. She wants to hate him. It would make her life so much easier but she wants him. The way he teases her and tries to dominate her at work just turns her on. And the asshole knows it. And speaking of the asshole...I loved him! Jack is pretty much the opposite of Lily. She is wild and messy while he is business-like and organized. On the outside. But on the inside he has a bit of a wild side, and definitely knows how to get dirty. Something they do have in common is how much they like to piss one another off. It's their foreplay and it's amazing!

Ok...so this book isn't all about hate, lust, and underwear. There are some twists and turns too! I liked that since Jack and Lily are working together there is actually work in the book. The Hamilton store's employees are a gossipy and wild bunch so they added some laughs to the mix.

Overall...I enjoyed the ride. It was a funny, sexy, and a quick read. I am looking forward to Lulu's future release.

Quotes:

Half naked in front of me, his red power tie dangles from his neck. Part of me wants to wrap his tie around my fist and pull him to me. Part of me wants to strangle him with it.

“You’re too ambitious for your own good, Miss Brook.”

“I think Z is my new favorite letter,” I pant.

My Rating: ❤❤❤❤(4 Stars)

The Hard Sell is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy with the right amount of romance and lots of humor. It is definitely a department store love story at it's best.

Meet Lily Brook, the kick-ass heroine that knows what she wants and work her ass off to achieve that. I am really liking her character as she could be outrageous and giving me the hilarity of the day but she could also makes me admire her persistence and hardworking attitude in the her line of work. I love that she sells underwear like no one's business and knows her way to get customers buy her company's product. If I am an employer I would definitely get an awesome head hunter to snatch her away but I guess she is pretty loyal with Flash Fit ;)

Meet Jack Stewart a.k.a Jack Hamilton, the hot, brooding department manager that like to drunken text in French and draw Bart-freaking-Simpson on his clipboard at work. He seems like a Mr. Perfect with total package since he seems to have it all with his penthouse apartment and his expensive designer suits. However, he have this one big secret that kept hidden because it had destroyed him once and he had worked hard to be what he is at now.

Things that I love about the book:
1. Jack (non-existent) singing ability LOL. He is aware of it but just doesn't care whose eardrums he's about to assaulted when he sometimes feels like singing. I mean if there is one guy that look like Jack, I would definitely endure him singing just to see him passionately singing Crush by David Matthews with all the fists punching.
2. There is this scene where Jack was kind of avoiding Lily and Lily was wondering why Jack is behaving like that. I love this monologue of her.
Maybe he's avoiding me?
No way. I'm adorable.
That got me chuckling! She is so full of herself but she is too damn funny. I can't believe her :D

Things that I can live without from the book:
1. Jack's psycho ex-girlfriend, Crystal. God, that girl have a place of herself now in my list of hateful characters in literary world. I am a little bit unsatisfied that she doesn't get what she deserved for all the hateful things that she did. Perhaps I will be a happier if she got a complaint, a slap or anything really.
2. Lily's reaction when she knows who Jack really is. I think maybe she needs to hear first his reasoning instead of running just like that. But anyway, the got a HEA at the end so maybe I'm okay with that.

All things considered, I think The Hard Sell is really a fabulous love story with witty and humorous banter and there are several steamy scenes that turn up the temperature when you read it so I would totally recommend this book to romance lovers who love a good romcom.

This is Lulu's debut novel and let me tell you this is quite an introduction to the art of writing with an amazing 5 star story.

ARC of The Hard Sell by LuLu Wright provided in exchange of an honest spoiler free review.

Lily is the "Queen of the men's underwear". She works hard in order to become a regional manager. On her first day to a new job at a department store, she literally slams into Jack, who's the manager of the men's basics. Spilled coffee, a dirty shirt and a broken phone later, sparks will fly. They will light up the store like fireworks on the Fourth of July.

Wow! This was one funny, highly addictive and engaging story. It's so entertainment that there was never a dull moment. I basically read it in one sitting. Lily and Jack bicker, butt heads and sparks will fly left and right. It's a romantic comedy at it's best with plenty of scorching hot steamy scenes.

I really enjoyed these perfectly crafted characters that made me chuckle more than once. Even secondary characters played an important part in order to make this an enjoyable ride. It's not an overly sappy full of angst kind of story. But a light on the heart, funny and sweet one. Bottom line I loved everything about this uniquely written story with a storyline that kept me reading almost none stop.

This is a standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend reading this story. I will be on the look out for more from this amazing author.

For a debut novel I would have to say that this was heading in the right direction. The characters were engaging and the tone of the writing was light and fun.
I liked the fact that Lily and Jack were so different and that because of that I didn’t know just how much they were both going to have bring to the story.
Lily and Jack were pulling on opposite ends of the same rope. They had the same goal just different ways of going about getting what they wanted.
I loved the cheeky banter between the two of them and the attitude that neither of them was willing to hide behind, they hung it all out there!
Lily had huge ideas on how she could turn around the men’s lingerie department, while Jack was in need of a lot more convincing…well let battle commence.
The push and pull between the two of them brought a smile to my face but deep down I knew that all I wanted was for him to see that she wasn’t just going to turn the department around, no, she could be the woman to bring a spark into his life too. He just had to get a handle on what was going to make her tick.
The synopsis of the story worked well, the characters were a handful but not in a bad way and they certainly brought a smile to my face.

Opposites attract in this fun romance by Lulu Wright.

Lily and Jack are as different as night and day. You would never think these two would make a smoking hot couple. When they first meet they literally collide into each other. When they find out the have to work together for the next few months more than sparks fly between these two hot headed, strong willed people.

I really enjoyed the banter between these two. Lily is a strong female character with her career in mind. She knows what she wants and intends to get it, nothing will stop her from getting the promotion she deserves. Especially not Jack, with his hot body and his annoying clipboard.

Jack is determined to make run his store the way he wants keeping with the traditional look and feel of the store. When Lily and her manties come walking into his life all hell breaks loose and he soon realizes she's what he needs.

This was a really great romance, it has laughter, a little light BDSM play and a couple that proveS opposites do attract.

This was my first book by Lulu Wright I will definitely check out the rest of her work you should too.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

The Hard Sell, is a fun, sexy, and humorous read. It actually took a turn that I didn’t expect.

Lily is the merchandiser for Fab Fit, an underwear line for men. She’s sent to Hamilton’s to improve the display’s and increase sales. The only thing is, There’s a guy name Jack. who comes off as a total douche canoe.

Now, I thought this story was good. It really wasn’t what I expected. It almost seemed like it was meant to go a different direction. The sex scenes were pretty steamy. But I honestly did not connect with the characters as a whole. This is Wright’s first novel, so I see a lot of potential in the future.

Overall, I give this story Three Boundless Stars.

Lily Brook, she is my spirit animal. Leggings and just down right always comfy clothes. She is a take no shit woman and that makes me love her to pieces. Soon, though she finds there is a man who can knock her down and she likes it, ALOT!

Jack Stewart, brooding alpha to the core. He is in charge of men's basic in the department store and is expecting a woman to try and boost the sale for a underwear brand. Little does he know he has already met her and she is a spit fire who he can't not think about.

I loved this one. The humor had me laughing so much especially that first chapter. Wow I didn't expect what came from this book especially Jack but then add Lily in and yes! Just yes! Oh yeah and Ricky, everyone girl needs a token gay best friend. We just do. Truly happy with this one.
