Enthusiastic young scientists as well as reluctant inventors will enjoy this collection of easy-to-follow experiments that can be carried out with common household items. Instructions are clear and accompanied by helpful photographs. Swanson includes a summary of the scientific method. I followed directions for creating lightning in a bottle and how to build a catapult without mishap. Readers will find these, and the other remaining challenges, engaging and fun.
