Mary Turzillo short stories are always good. In this story, a man gets a kitten, but oh what a kitten it is!

Young man who keeps making mistakes rescues a “cat” from a Frankenlab only to discover it’s a clone of a sabertooth tiger. Mayhem ensues. Didn’t care for the protagonist, for the direction of the story, or the ending.
