Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan are finally tying the knot.
Two weeks before their wedding, a surprise visitor shows up at their door: Eden, Sean's estranged sister from Europe. She claims she's in town for the wedding and wants to mend fences. Lucy invites Eden to stay with them after all, family is family but her boss, SSA Noah Armstrong, knows far more about Eden's sketchy past than he's let on.
While Lucy is focused on her investigation tracking down dozens of children sold through illegal adoptions, Noah begins a quiet investigation of Eden and her elusive twin, Liam. He's certain that, since they're both thieves, they're here for a job or a heist. But they are up to something far more sinister than even Noah can imagine.
Liam has a score to settle with his family, and Sean has something he wants. The twins will do anything to get it including putting Lucy's life in danger. It'll take everyone—Kincaids and Rogans alike—to stop Liam before someone dies. Unfortunately, Liam's treachery has unforeseen consequences for Sean and Lucy, as a longtime enemy of the Rogan family hellbent on revenge sees an opportunity to make them all pay...

FBI Agent Lucy Kincaid and her fiancé Sean Rogan are two weeks away from their wedding and they both have a lot going on leading up to the big day. Sean is out of town, secretly meeting with son Jesse to encourage him to accept his witness protection situation. Lucy is working with her team to locate the stolen babies uncovered in their last investigation when Sean’s sister Eden suddenly shows up on her doorstep, stating that she’s there for the wedding. Against her better judgment, Lucy leaves her alone but when Noah Armstrong learns she’s there, he knows something's not quite right and decides to investigate on his own. His suspicions are on target as Eden and twin brother Liam are definitely on a secret mission that ultimately has disastrous consequences.
Let me warn you that it doesn’t take long before this story shifts into the highest gear and you will not be able to put the book down. I finished it in one day because it was nonstop madness created by the mysterious Liam and Eden, who I’d wondered about since the Rogans were first introduced. They’d been ousted from the family business six years ago but an explanation had never been served up. Not only is the reason revealed, other revelations surface that I never would have imagined (I’m looking at you, Noah). These twin siblings are nothing like the brothers we've come to know. The lengths they will go to and the risks they take with others’ fates will shock you. When they place Lucy in serious danger, I knew we were dealing with something different.
I listened almost nonstop and the narrator delivered an outstanding performance for this train wreck duo. She managed a host of characters, making me feel as if there were multiple people narrating and adding to the suspense and sense of imminent danger. It’s well crafted, providing even more insights into the Rogan family and moves at a rapid pace. The ending is emotional, exciting, nerve wracking and whatever other superlative you can imagine. I’m still reeling from what happened but satisfied with the outcome. This was a good one.
Make them Pay by Allison Brennan is a 2017 St. Martin’s Press publication.
This twelfth installment in the Lucy Kincaid series is filled with action, suspense, intrigue and family drama.
While Sean is out of town, Lucy is surprised by the sudden arrival of Sean’s estranged sister, Eden. sudden arrival, but since she is family, Lucy agrees to let Eden stay with her.
However, Lucy soon discovers, Eden is not as excited about Lucy’s upcoming wedding as she let on, instead having some serious ulterior motives behind her sisterly visit.
It would seem that Eden and her twin brother, Liam, are looking for treasure their parents commissioned them to find before their tragic deaths. Liam’s obsession, however, has caused him to rationalize criminal activity and created a deep chasm between himself and his older brother, Kane. The treasure is rumored to be cursed, and judging by the cause and effect seen here, I am inclined to agree.
However, Lucy’s worry over an illegal adoption collides with Eden and Liam’s treasure hunt, making her a pawn and putting her in the middle of a deadly situation that only Kane, Jack and Sean can save her from.
I really enjoyed this book immensely! It’s stylish, emotional, fast-paced, with a dash or romance added in for good measure. Although some characters are left rethinking their futures, I loved seeing a few long overdue happily ever afters, even though the road to happiness is bittersweet.
Overall, this is a fantastic addition to an awesome series!
This book was much like the last 4-5 of the series.
Here:
Sean and Lucy wake up to another day, profess their undying love and bask in the knowledge that they're co-dependent.
Lucy goes to work, wondering if she'll ever be the kind of agent she always thought she could be, (spoiler alert: the answer is no) and gets a new case or continues an old one. She notices that her coworkers don't trust her (and why would they when trouble and death follow her around like a shadow) and that the pain of her past made her who she is...but she wouldn't be without Sean. She can overcome anything with Sean by her side. Never mind surviving rape, torture, therapy (which she needs more of if we're being honest here), going to college, getting several degrees, holding down internships and jobs all in the hopes of becoming an FBI agent. Sean and his magical love is the reason she exists now.
Sean decides whether he wants to be an adult and have a life outside of waiting at home for Lucy who will need his big, strong arms and smothering love because work hard and Lucy soft (vomit) or actually using the intelligence that he so often boasts to work on a case and prove he's the smartest person alive ever.
Lucy and whomever was unlucky enough to breathe the same air as she does head out to do the job she's dedicated the past 10-12 years of her life to getting. But, lucky for her, Sean came along and she's totally capable now of being the FBI agent she wanted to be before she knew he existed. Wow, love is magical.
Sean gets pulled into something; a case or one of his annoying relatives needs his big powerful Oz brain. But who will pet Lucy's head and call her princess when she comes home from her big bad job? Argh! Lucy is the air I breathe. I. Must. Be. Here. For. Her.
Cartoon villain is evuhl...and does evuhl things....because eeevuhhhl!
Their cases overlap...because of course they do.
Lucy's cartoon villain knows Sean's cartoon villain...because they are the evuhl league of doom! And the world is just that small.
Someone dies...usually the one who was unlucky enough to breathe the same air as Lucy and probably wished they'd called in sick right before dying horribly.
Sean's or Lucy's, or a combination of both, relatives know all about the cartoon villains and their Evuhl League of Doom and vice versa because the world is just. that. frickin'. small.
Sean and Lucy touch base (sometimes telepathically because their love is just that. powerful.) because how would they ever face anything without their love. Their love can topple mountains and tie a lasso around the moon. And they're both about to do something stupid that the other one would be upset with them for doing.
Lucy considers bending the rules and/or goes against her instincts and makes everything worse.
Sean bucks authority because he is a boy wonder and how dare they insult the Powerful OzBrain?!
Sean or Lucy, a combination of Sean and Lucy, or any of their annoying relatives makes. everything. worse. and someone is kidnapped.
Lives are in danger! ....because all of these people are stupid.
A convoluted rescue plan that bends/skirts/breaks the law half of these people are sworn to uphold is put together.
The plan goes wrong at the last minute!
Lucy: Oh, dear God. Sean will be so lost without me. He'll become a monster and hunt down the people who hurt me. I have to stay alive for Sean! Not because I want to live or anything. I mean, I'm only 28 and my whole life is in front of me, and my big Irish Catholic family won't mourn me or anything. I have to live for Sean!
Sean: If anyone hurts Lucy, I will become Darth Vader. I mean, this is probably my fault for doing something stupid or one of my siblings did something stupid in the past and it's coming back to haunt me. Or Lucy's siblings did something stupid with my siblings... but I'm the great and powerful OzBrain and rules are meant to be broken! This never would have happened if I glued Lucy to my side like I wanted to.
Convoluted plan is adjusted. (new and improved: Stupid Plan 2.0! With twice as much danger, more laws broken and less common sense! On sale now!)
Sean: rawr! I'm the great and powerful OzBrain! I'm the baddest thing walking and my brothers will scowl you into submission! Give me my girlfriend back! I'm not a whole person without her and I'm too co-dependent to start over!
Lucy: Oh, Sean! I survived for you! I had to live so that you could live!
More lives are lost because. of. course. they. are!
But Lucy and Sean escape! The power of their love deflects bullets and knives!
The end...but not really because it's an ongoing series that doesn't look like it will die any time soon. So, essentially, rinse and repeat. Over and over and over again. Same crap, different title.
Brennan has the ability to create characters that readers will hook on to almost feeling as if they in the story and not just reading. The Allison Brennan creates a story that will have readers looking past the face of the people in the story and what they want to show the world. Everyone has a world face so they can hide what is in their heart and soul. We discover that Eden isn't cold and evil but it is what she has shown the world. Instead she has heart and soul which is brought out many times. Make Them Pay shows how families can be torn part simply because of a miss understanding or the inability to let go of something they feel they deserved. Allison Brennan has the ability to write dark stories that interweaving will moments of light. This time the author was able to take love, life and twisted it with the darkness which didn't consume the book. This book has a wonderful balance which will get this reader to start at the beginning of the series
The only reason this book isn't a 5 is all the difference characters that readers will bounce back and forth between leaving this reader a little lost and confused. I will also admit this is the first in this series that I have read. Thank you Netgalley, publisher and author for the advance copy.
Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan are two weeks away from saying "I Do" when there is a knock on the door. Eden Rogan, Sean's estranged sister, explains to Lucy that she is there for the wedding. Since Sean is out of town at the moment, Lucy invites Eden to stay at the house until he returns later in the evening. Lucy's boss, SSA Noah Armstrong, is suspicious when he learns that Eden is in town. He knows that her twin, Liam, must be close by. He also guesses that since they are thieves, they must be planning a heist.
This book starts off with a bang and never lets up. After reading the first eleven books in this series, readers know that Eden and Liam Rogan lived in Europe after being tossed out of the family business and disowned by their older brother Kane. But since Kane never talked about it, we never knew exactly what had happened. Well, in this book we find out about the past and how it drives Liam and Eden to return to the states. And, when they put Lucy in danger, Sean along with Kane and Lucy's brother Jack, have to get her back before she is killed.
I couldn't put this book down. Many characters from the previous books make an appearance in this one. I was never sure what was going to happen and was surprised by some of the twists. I'm looking forward to more of Lucy and Sean in the future. My rating: 5 Stars.
Well we finally get to meet Liam and Eden in this book...and I hated them instantly. Kudos to Allison Brennan for creating two utterly irritating characters who are part of a family whose other members I love. It was refreshing to see the entire Rogan family wasn't made up of honorable, likeable characters who sometimes have to do unlikable things.
This book had a lot of action and a fast pace that kept me riveted for most of the story. I've seen some reviews complaining about a certain "formula" these books have and that they find them repetitive and predictable. To each his own, but these books have a formula that works for me and keeps me coming back for the next installment. I've enjoyed some books in this series more than others and Make Them Pay is definitely in the more category.
This book also tied up some loose ends from the previous entry in the series, so I am hoping Lucy, Sean, and company can all move on to some different cases now, but I look forward to wherever Ms. Brennan takes these characters.
Can I give this more than five stars please? All the action and hold-your-breath moments you expect when reading any book in the Lucy Kincaid series. This time, though, we have a book that is not as dark as so many of the others. The darkness is on the periphery, there but not the main focus. Love how all the family and friends are wound so seamlessly into these stories. Definitely recommend this book. And the excerpt from the next Maxine Revere doesn't hurt, either.
Amazing! This intricate tale of love, loyalty, and deception will take you through many feelings and will keep you glued to this book from start to finish. No lulls. Action and obsession!
Sean and Lucy are to be married in twelve days. After two insane months and some turbulence the day is finally drawing closer. First though Sean has to go meet with the son he never new he had until recently after he broke the rules of witness protection. Lucy is working hard trying to close the baby case and get ready for their honeymoon and trying not to worry about Sean and Jesse.
When Sean leaves though Eden, his sister that Lucy has never met before shows up literally on their doorstep with her suitcase in hand claiming to have come for the wedding. Lucy has a niggling of doubt but since Sean is flying and handling Jesse she doesn't want to bother him and invites her in. She sends Sean an email to let him know.
For years there has been tension between the Rogan family and Kane chose to cut Liam and Eden out of the company but he went one further, he stole something that belonged to them that then because they didn't have access to put them in trouble with a Russian crime family and this is the opportunity they have been waiting for. The problem is, Eden didn't expect her former mark and former lover Noah assistant section chief of the FBI to be in TX, she thought he was in DC and when he then shows up at Sean's house, after Lucy told him she was late because Eden showed up unannounced, to find out what she is up to. After all six years ago he was an officer in the Air Force and she had used him to pull a con and then he resigned his commission.
Kane is in the middle of his own very important mission when he gets word and has to try to find someone to sit on Eden until he can find out what she's planning because it surely cannot be good.
From his things bust wide open and it doesn't slow down. Lucy is taken, again. Will they get her back before she is killed? Will Kane be able to stop Liam and Eden in whatever they are up to? Will Sean be able to talk Jesse into following the rules for witness protection and staying until he is eighteen to keep him safe? So much up in the air. There is a mole in RCK and they have to find out who it is. This book is right up my alley and I loved every second of it!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
So many characters and so many back stories in this book, it really taxed my brain to keep everyone in line. I always enjoy a good Lucy Kincaid book and this one was right up there. We finally get to meet Eden and Liam Rogan - the "elusive twins", who are in search of the lost "Alamo" treasure and will do just about anything to find it, even crossing their own family and kidnapping Lucy. Not nice and also, not very wise to get on Sean (in fact the rest of the Rogan's) or Jack Kincaid's bad side!
Once the main events start, the story is fast paced and action packed! No spoilers here! I enjoyed the book and couldn't put it down - a welcome edition/addition to the Lucy Kincaid series!
2 thumbs up and 4.5 stars (half star missing because of the amount of characters to keep straight, at least for me).
When Eden Rogan, Sean’s estranged sister, shows up at Lucy’s door claiming to be there for the wedding, Lucy lets her in and asked her to stay with her and Sean. Noah Armstrong has a history with Eden and known right away that Liam Rogan, Eden’s twin brother, must be around as well and they are bother probably up to no good. Noah’s instincts are good and Liam ends up kidnapping Lucy and putting her in danger.
This story is non-stop from cover to cover. The action starts quickly and keeps you hooked. I really like how the Rogans and Kincaids came together to rescue Lucy and bring Eden and Liam to justice. I wish I could say that I liked Liam and Eden, but they are nothing like the other Rogans. They are selfish and thieves. I did feel a bit bad for Liam though. He really thought that what he was doing was going to make him look good in Kane’s eyes. It was sad to see him so determined to prove Kane wrong. Poor Lucy. She always seems to get pulled into trouble and this time she is really scared. She holds herself together well and is able to think clearly. She makes some really good decisions that would have helped her out if one of the bad guys hadn’t recognized her. Kane makes a huge life decision in this book and I looked forward to seeing where that goes.
The writing was crisp and the suspense was perfect. As always, love Lucy and Sean, and all their core people. But for some reason, there was too much going on in this one and I had a hard time wrapping my brain around all of it. I mean, she pulled it all together in the end, because she's an awesome writer, but it was too much for me in the middle. Brain overload. Which is probably as much about me as about the interwoven threads in this story.
Twelve books into this series and it just gets better and better. This one read like maybe Allison Brennan may have thought about this being the last book. We get to see a lot of old characters and that was wonderful. She ties up a lot of loose ends and answers a lot of questions, especially why Noah has such a visceral dislike of Sean in the beginning of the series. I'm not going to give away any of the books secrets, I'm only going to say it was a wild ride of intrigue, betrayal and revenge.
With two weeks to go until the wedding, Lucy is working hard to find the babies who were sold in the last book. Sean is out of town trying to convince Jesse, his 12 year old son, to stay in witness protection. When Eden Rogan appears on her doorstep unannounced and unexpected one morning, Lucy is flummoxed and tells her she can stay. Big mistake on Lucy's part, but family is family, even if Sean hasn't heard from her in years. When SSA Noah Armstrong hears Eden is at Lucy's, he wastes no time confronting her. Noah has history with Eden and her twin brother, Liam, and is isn't a good one. Noah is sure where Eden is, Liam can't be far behind and that the two are not good news for Sean and Lucy.
Noah is right. Liam is on a mission and Sean has something he wants, at any cost and the cost may just be Lucy's life. Never fear, when a Kincaid or Rogan is in danger the whole clan and all their friends jump to the rescue.
Sean and Lucy invited Sean's estranged twin siblings Liam and Eden to their wedding.... but it was anything but a happy family reunion when Eden arrived. Sean was away from home and Lucy invited Eden to stay, not knowing she and Liam had ulterior motives....
We get to know the reasons for the estrangement between the twins and Kane and there are some really unexpected twists I didn't see coming. Now we understand why the Rogans are so dysfunctional. Noah's antipathy is also explained. This one is more about family than crime solving but I liked it. I would suggest it's probably better if the reader had some knowledge about the characters before reading this book though.
It’s finally here, the day Lucy Kincaid and Sean Rogan have been waiting for, their wedding day. Things are quiet and they are both finally healing from the events in the last few months that almost fractured them and their relationship. That is until Sean’s estranged sister, Eden, shows up on their doorstop and then all hell breaks loose. With Sean dealing with the newfound knowledge that he has a son and Lucy trying to find the black-market babies from the last case, Eden is focused on a scheme her and her twin brother have put together. Liam is determined to settle the score with Sean and his family and with Lucy in the cross-fire, Sean will pull no punches as he and the rest of the Kincaid/Rogan clan go after Eden and Liam. But a longtime enemy of the Rogan family is determined to use this opportunity to get their revenge even as Lucy’s safety is in jeopardy.
Wow, just wow is all I can say after reading the latest in the Lucy Kincaid series. MAKE THEM PAY is a wild ride from start to finish and the reader better hang on to their hays because this time the stakes are even higher than before. I absolutely adore this series by Ms. Brennan. We get complex cases to be solved, characters that grow with each book and the writing is just so good that you cannot put the books down at all. In this new book in the series, we are finally just days from the Kincaid/Rogan wedding when disaster hits. From Sean’s newfound son breaking rules left and right to his estranged sister showing up under the pretense that she is here for the wedding, the reader is drawn into the story as Lucy, Sean and their friends/family are assaulted on all sides. Add in wedding jitters, fallout from the black-market case they just solved a month ago and more and the reader is treated to a story that will take them on an unexpected journey and tear their heart out, stomp all over it then put it back in. It’s definitely one story that you need to have read the past book, The Lost Girls, in order to understand the ramification of the past events mentioned in MAKE THEM PAY.
MAKE THEM PAY is a tightly written thriller that has unexpected twists and turns that will leave you gasping even as you race to the next page to see what happens next for the characters. Ms. Brenan does an amazing job in capturing her characters hidden nuances and vulnerabilities even as the story weaves its spell around you. I just adore all the main characters and love how Lucy as a person just grew and healed up after her past caused her to close herself off to others. Sean is a big part of that healing and he gives her the security she needs to open her heart up to him even as she does the same to him. The secondary characters are just as well written as the main characters and keep the story moving along nicely. I especially love SSA Noah Armstrong who has a hidden history with Eden Rogan that was intriguing to say the least. Ms. Brennan delivers a wonderful story that will thrill you then chill you to the bone even as it steals your heart. If you haven’t tried this series yet, I highly recommend it and make sure to start at the beginning with The Prey and going from there. I look forward to seeing where the author goes with Lucy, Sean and the gang even as the cases get more complex and deadly.
This is an objective review and not an endorsement
I'm a HUGE Allison Brennan fan and have read all of her books! I couldn't wait to hear the Liam/Eden story, but now that I have, I almost wish I hadn't! I love all the Kincaid's and Rogan's and it broke my heart to see how the twins treating Sean, Kane and Lucy. But I loved the way everyone banded together to save Lucy. There were twists and turns throughout this whole book and it was great to see more backstory about Noah. When a new Allison book comes out and I start reading, my family knows that I don't do anything else until I'm finished lol, no dinners, chores, etc for the 5 or 6 hours it takes me to read the book. Because I definitely can't put it down! I feel as if I have known Lucy since she was a child and now she is finally marrying her soulmate Sean. I can't wait to see what the future holds for the entire family!! Thank you Allison for an outstanding series that always keeps me guessing and eagerly waiting for the next installment!!
Finally we get to meet the two Rogan siblings that have been talked about. Turns out we weren't missing much as they were horrible! Entitled little snots who thought everyone else caused their problems, who they thought everyone was against them. I so wanted to slap both of them for most of the book, but especially Liam. It got to the point that I didn't care what happened to him and thought he got what he deserved for causing the cluster that everything turned into. All of it came back to his actions and greed. It was a good thing that the rest of RCK had the skills to clean up the mess. I feel like the Rogan twins got off a bit too easy, a little harsh considering Liam.
I loved that we got a happy ending, that the wedding finally happened for Lucy and Sean. While there are going to be a lot of family hurts to clean up, they and everyone else can start in a happy spot.
4.5 star rating. It was interesting to read the story behind Eden and Liam 's banishment from the Rogan clan. It was nice to read how all of the people that were involved in Lucy and Sean's life come together for their special occasion. Great read!!
Another book in the Lucy Kincaid or should we now say Rogan series. This book continues with Lucy and Sean, about to get married. Family is coming in town for the big day but a surprise from Sean's siblings Eden and Liam are unexpected. They are master manipulators and find their way inside Lucy and Sean's house.
They have been on the outside of the family as they have turned to more shady sides of business and their obsession with hidden treasure has made them do things they can't recover from in their siblings eyes. A trip to the most dangerous parts of Mexico leaves everyone in danger, and possible family ties severed forever.
This would be one of my two least favorite of the series. Like usual love the characters but way too much. I always like how she connects each book but this treasure hunt and the character of Jasmine was way over the top for me.
I can see how the book has a rating of almost 4.5 stars on Goodreads, but it still wasn't my favourite read due to a few factors, even though the author did a great job with the novel. It may simply be that some of the subjects in the book aren't big interests to me. But the storyline about the treasure was my favourite, and I wish there would've been more of it in the novel.
I'd also start disliking some characters, then something would happen in the story and I would dislike other ones, then go back to disliking the first ones, etc., which I assume is good, since the author has done a great job developing and writing the characters, making you feel strong emotions towards them. The one I particularly disliked is Sean, as he seemed unable of settling/letting go of a grudge he had against some of his siblings. I just thought he was immature and childish. It's one of those "Grow up and let go" moment, especially since he didn't give them a chance to explain themselves to be able to reconcile. Yes, they did something inexcusable to his fiancé, but he just cut them out of his life without so much of a thought. I understand why, but I still found him to be an a-hole and immature.
The story was gripping, but I didn't particularly like the ending. It wasn't as satisfying as I was hoping it would be. I had hoped for the story to end much better for the characters I liked, and not as well for the characters I disliked. It wasn't a bad ending, but as I was rooting for certain characters, I was hoping the ending would lean more towards them. For example, by the second last chapter, you know what happens to Eden and where she is, but that's it. The author didn't write anything more about her. I wanted to know more about how she was coping with her current situation and her plans for the future.
All in all, it was a good read and I did enjoy it. I recommend it to everyone!
Four stars for Allison Brennan's "Make Them Pay." I enjoy a book with lots of suspense because it is a quick read for me in this busy world we live in. "Make Them Pay" deals with a lot of family dynamics between siblings - and, the fallout after the parents die in a horrific accident.
Sean Rogan is the youngest siblings and is quite the genius. He is in the throws of planning his wedding to Lucy Kincaid, an FBI agent. Sean's older brother, Kane, a former Marine and a mercenary has devoted his life to Rogan-Caruso-Kincaid Protective Services. He is definitely a force to be reckoned with - not soft, but not cruel either.
And then, there are the twins - Eden and Liam - two peas in a pod. They have always felt they weren't part of the family, especially after their parents died. But, before the accident, Liam's father had put his trust in his son to find a treasure he had been searching for all his life, asking Liam to keep the dream alive. When his parents died, his father's dream became Liam's obsession, and of course, Eden stood by his side.
Eden shows up at Sean's door, and his fiance, Lucy, assumes she has come for the wedding. However, Sean has something Eden and Liam need. To get it though, Lucy ends up their captive, and she is taken down into Mexico and held hostage while the twins search for the treasure. Little did they realize the danger they had put Lucy in, her being an FBI agent who had rubbed a few undesirable individuals the wrong way.
This book is packed with action, with betrayals, with lust for treasure, with family feuds, with reconciliations. Want a few hours of entertainment - Make Them Pay will give it to you.
Yeah ! We are back to the Sean and Lucy that I love.
The last couple of books in this series made me wonder if I could continue, however, Make Them Pay is a wonderful adventure with Lucy and Sean. Sean's family plays a big role in the story--both good and bad. I always wondered about the twins and now I know. Old grudges come to the surface and the Rogan's need to deal with it. I worried from beginning to end.
What I love about the series, which continues in this book, is the fast-paced, non-stop action. There is never a lull in the story. We get a lot of answers to questions that rolled forward from the previous books; Lucy and Sean are working together as a team to solve the mystery. Kane is a wonderfully complex character. It looks like he is going to play a role in future stories too.
I love the return of Noah Armstrong. He finally made me feel good about him. We get the story behind Noah's anger with the Rogan's. What a surprise that was! In the past, Noah was hard for me to read, but I have a better handle on what makes him tick now. I hope we see him again in future books. There are going to be changes in the future. It will be fun to see what happens with some characters in question.
I recommend this series to mystery/romance lovers. As much as I love this book, it would be hard to start the series here. There are too many characters who are important to the story who were introduced over the previous thirteen books. Their backstory is essential to loving this book. Start at the beginning and enjoy the ups and downs of the characters. It is worth your time.
This book is the first I've read by author. I gave it one star for this single reason......I read alot...especially over the summer but when I put down a book and get back to it a couple days later I like to be able to pick up where I left off......this book had entirely way too many characters for that to happen. I don't want to have to backtrack 20+ pages to grasp all the characters and their identity in the plot. Put the book down and picked up another one. Really couldn't you make your plotline work with just some main characters without all the extras???? I can see if it were a movie so you have a face to recollect but in a book it just doesn't work. :(
It was fine – just not anything to write home about and certainly not up to the standard of some of the earlier Lucy Kincaid books. I think it is just a case of a series that has gone on for too long and probably should have wrapped up 2-3 books ago. And I am soo over Lucy being kidnapped and in mortal danger think. I mean seriously how many times can one person be kidnapped/taken hostage. I am looking forward to the Max Revere/Lucy Kincaid Rogan crossover though.
I love this series!! I am a big fan of the main character Lucy Kincaid and her partner Sean. Lucy gets herself into a fair amount of trouble. She is an FBI agent and this story takes her right to the edge. Lucy and Sean finally get married. Gosh knows where they will go next but I can't wait to find out!!!
Way too many characters - they all started to run together. Hard to keep the relationships among the characters straight. If this is any indication of the author's other books, I won't be seeking her works out for my leisure reading.
