Stinky Steve: Book I—A Minecraft Mishap by P. T. Evans and illustrated by Jake Tashijian is a crowd pleaser. The author truly knows and understands his audience and does not disappoint.
Evans has created a world of Minecraft and Steve takes the reader on his hilarious journey. As Steve shares his personal discovery of the power of his flatulence problems the listener will be hanging on to each and every word. The illustrations are simply perfect and appear at the right moment.
When the captive listener says, “read it again, please,” the reader knows that it’s a hit. Looking forward to the next installment in this laugh out loud series.
I am not that well versed at all in the world of Minecraft. Yet, I know this is slowly changing as I have 3 nephews. The one is a big time master of Minecraft. While, I think that this book is geared towards the younger audience, I know that my nephews will still enjoy reading this book. The theme of this story being all about farts will really bring a smile to their faces and keep them laughing the whole time with plenty of fart jokes along the way.
The illustrations were great. They really did help bring this story to life. It was like I was watching this story play out in the world of Minecraft. The creepers were not the thing to be feared this time but Steve's farts. Again aspect of this book that I liked was that it was very easy to read with hardly any large words. My nephews will be able to read this book on their own with no problems. Fans of Minecraft will enjoy this book and series.
Author P.T. Evans hit the trifecta with Stinky Steve: Book One. 1. Humor 2. Illustrations 3. Speed of reading. My almost 12-year-old is s huge Minecraft fan. She found the book funny, but not "in tears" funny. I figure it isn't necessarily for the tween Minecraft fan base. But younger (5-7) fans may roll on the floor laughing. You usually can't lose with fart jokes and the younger crowd. I found some humor in it myself though. The illustrations alone were funny and align with the Minecraft genre. This series debut is also a quick read that leaves kids wanting more of Stinky Steve's adventures.
This is a funny story. I read this to my kids before bed and they were laughing so hard at all the trouble Steve faced in this book. They were interested in what the witches wanted farts for and thought it was super funny that he was going to be a super hero. I would like to see more pictures in this book, rather than word art. There are a handful of pictures and it is nice but more would be nice too. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest unbiased review.
This was funny to me for a couple of reasons. (1) I know someone named Steve (2) Beans, cauliflower etc. have the same the same effect on him big time!!! Yes he can clear a room...sorry Steve! Anyway it was funny and entertaining short read. This copy was suggested and gifted to me and I'm glad I agreed to read it! When you can't do anything about your farts, make it work for you. Lol
This book was absolutely exceptional. Everything, from the iconic characters, to the compelling story telling, and everything in between. If my friends were to ask my why I love; "A Minecraft Mishap (Stinky Steve#1)" I would not sell them on the amazing story, or characters, or pacing, or any of the remarkable stand out features, but rather what the story does not directly tell you, regarding the insanely detailed secondary story it is telling from within Stinky Steve. Any reader reading every little experience and not thinking about it would think this is but a silly tale of a Minecrafy player, but they couldn't be further from the truth. Overall, this book is a remarkable story, and I recommend this to any reader ready to fully immerse them self in a outstandingly beautiful story. Bravo P.T. Evans
Sometimes reading a Great Work of Literature is like drinking fine French wine, say an aged Burgundy or Mersault. Everyone tells you how amazing it is, and on an intellectual level you can appreciate the brilliance, the subtlety, the refinement. This was the experience of reading "A Minecraft Mishap (Stinky Steve #1)" by the prolific literary master P.T Evans. I cried, laughed and wallowed in the ignominy my own pitiful working existance--thus is the experience of trying to become a writer in the times of a virtuoso such as Evans. The adept way in which he welds the English langue as a sword with which to cleave and forge a brilliant gem such as "A Minecraft Mishap (Stinky Steve #1)" can simply not be rivaled in our modern age. Overall, a groundbreaking novel of literary fiction, my life has forever been impacted.
This book is a masterpiece. A true masterpiece. When I picked up this book, I felt power more stonger than I. I believe it was the touch of god. I have sufferd from depression for ten years, but when I read this book, It was all miraculously cured. I thank the authors of this phenomenon deeply. If I could I would replace the holy bible with this sensation. This is not a review, this is an appreciation note. although,I highly recommend this to your chilldren, siblings, aunts, uncles and even friends to touch them spiritually and enlighten their life. I cant explain the greatness I saw. everything from the characters to the art work is amazing. Thank you P.T. Evans and your artistic beautiful mind. I love you
Beans beans the musical fruit! Steve installs a new bean mod that replaces all his crops with beans leaving him with nothing else to eat and enough gas to wilt plants and turn a villagers into a hostile mob.
I read this to the boys (3 and 6) and we all had a good laugh. It's totally juvenile and full of fart humor, but what can I say, I'm easily entertained and the boys loved it. The writing is considerably better than some of the other Minecraft books I've experienced. It was an actual story and not just an instructional masquerading as a story - though probably still most appropriate for young players of Minecraft.
absolute 5 star masterpiece. this book completely changed my outlook on life and brought me closer to figuring out who i am. i feel at ease and at peace now, and to think there are more books in the series? just waiting for me to read them and align my chakras? complete bliss.
if you want to feel complete zen, i highly recommend stinky steve. he’s the super hero we didn’t know we needed, a likes to counter Marvel’s Spider-man.
Few pieces of media are able to stand the tests of time. Some legendary authors such Plato, and others have stated P.T. Evans, author of Stinky Steve, as one of there main influences. I'm sure this applies to many, many other authors. I've heard from some sources that Steven King was inspired to write, because of this book. It is one of the beautiful pieces of literature I have ever laid my eyes on. I shed many tears throughout this novel. I love you Stink Steve heres my number hit me up 911.
george orwell, stephen king, charles dickens, ernest hemingway. some of the greatest authors known. but none truly match up to the skill and artistic ability of one p.t. evans. riding off the coattails of his previous hits, "emoji adventures" and "minecat", p.t. evans expresses his idealistic post-modern future in this novella. as real as 1984, yet as frightening as the shining.
stinky steve is the best book ive read in a while, I thoroughly enjoyed every page I read, it was romantic, thrilling, mildly racist(I did not enjoy this part) and very well written ***** 5 stars of 5 stars, as a matter of fact Ive read it five times today
Bravo! Marvelous! P.T. Evan’s’ novella “A Minecraft Mishap (Stinky Steve #1)” is a masterpiece in its writing. This book is a modern classic, on the level of “Hamlet” and “1984”. Bravo, Evans. What a masterpiece. Clearly the work of the century.
The juvenile humor regarding farts will appeal to younger boys. The large font makes it easier to beginning readers. Set in the Mindcraft world, Steve has a smelly problem that is attracting the wrong kind of characters. There is an indirect moral about changing a problem into a positive that is offset by running away from problems. The epilogue is used to introduce the next book in the series. The Mindcraft illustrations lack the crispness found in the game and would be better in color.
Read this review and more on my blog. The Book Return Blog Stinky Steve is a character in Minecraft. Steve discovers he has a flatulence problem. Steve discovers that this issue can actually help him in his journey through Minecraft.
My kids love Minecraft. Saying they are totally obsessed is an understatement. They also really love bathroom humor.I thought 'Stinky Steve' would be a great Minecraft fan fiction book for us to review together.
My kids loved all the off-color jokes and references to Minecraft. They also really liked how at Steve was constantly ....well you know.
They were able to read most of the dialogue themselves. I would say the reading level is around second or third grade. We definitely will be picking up more books in the series. This review was originally posted on The Book return...
