The Death Talker: What we need to know to help us talk about death

Rate this book
Since the dawn of time, human beings have been curious about death. Most of us have little time in our busy lives to think about the things that are important to us. Often, it s not until we have a personal experience that we give any serious thought to our own life and our mortality.

The Death Talker offers a common sense approach to the issues we should all be thinking about so we can live and die well. The personal stories and practical information provide a sensitive guide for exploring the stuff that matters to each of us and to help us have meaningful conversations with the people we love.

Molly Carlile AM has over twenty years experience as a specialist palliative care nurse, grief and bereavement counsellor and educator. More recently she has held senior executive roles in both palliative care and acute health, currently as Chief Executive Officer of a large metropolitan, community palliative care service.

The example stories were unnecessary. I was able to finish the book in an hour by reading the end of each chapter. I think some people may find this book helpful but I found it a waste of time.

The DeathTalker addresses death with great wisdom and humour - a rare combination. Molly has +20 yrs of expertise as a specialist palliative care nurse, grief and bereavement counsellor and educator and it shows. This book is beautifully written with experience, understanding and heart leaping off each page.

This book brings clarity and will help you in any stage of life - whether you're living with death or grief, or just planning ahead and thinking about your end of life care wishes. This book is also a must read for all medical students and health / aged care professionals who need to understand more about death and to improve patient care.

I cannot recommend this book enough.

This is one of those books that I could not put down and was truly disappointed when I had finished it. But, being such an awesome resource book I often keep returning to it. Molly has raised the bar in talking about death. This book has facts, humour, life situations that so many of us can relate to and is easy to read on many levels.
