Anxiously awaiting the next book. Please tell us there will be another book, S.L.Stoner.
Maybe set downriver a ways, in Oregon City? Really enjoyed hearing about the train to Astoria.

Another superb historically based mystery from S. L. Stoner. This one puts women at the center of a labor struggle and allows them to demonstrate a multitude of strengths. What's more, we are introduced to conditions in industrial laundries during the early 20th century, conditions about which this reader, anyway, knew very little. Those of us who live in the Portland, Oregon area especially appreciate the accurate geographic and socio-cultural details. However, the book will appeal to readers everywhere.

I love Historical Fiction. The Mangle takes the Reader into the harsh working conditions and long days of workers in the Laundries of long ago and the fight for workers rights. I plan to read more in this series. I won my copy of The Mangle from Goodreads.

This series of novels take place in Portland OR of the early 1900's. The stories and settings are meticulously researched, and historical notes are included at the end of each book. The protagonist of the series is an undercover agent of the labor movement, and these stories all revolve around the early labor issues of Portland - and the whole country. I'd recommend the books if you are interested in Portland and Pacific NW history, carefully researched and incorporated into the entertaining plots. The core value of these stories, to me, are the depiction of the struggles work working men and women, against terrible odds, to improve their working conditions and lives. Hope some day I get to meet the author. In the meantime, I look forward to reading the next book in this series - have a hold placed on it at the library.

NEWS! The next in the series will be published at the end of June 2018! I've already had my library order a copy, so I can get (hopefully) first read! The title: SLOW BURN.
