I really loved Becoming Derek where Derek transforms his life and pursues Abbie after a one night stand with her and his best friend, Owen. As Derek makes changes to his professional life and living situation, he begins to understand many things about himself, one being his deep feelings for his long-time best friend. Abbie, Owen and Derek enter into an unconventional, slow-building relationship that works for them.
In this book, the author throws some very real complications into the mix... Owen's meddling, conservative parents, who seem to want what's best for their previously, and seemingly still, philandering son. Readers get a look at a man who is not yet ready to un-closet himself to his family and how he deals with the hiding. We also see the toll it takes on the relationship with those he loves.
What I loved about both books is the slow realizations both Owen and Derek come to about their very complicated feelings toward one another. They aren't gay, both having always been attracted to women, and the bisexual label doesn't really fit either because neither is attracted to other men. They are simply in love with one another, attracted to each other because of who they are. It took Addie as the catalyst to make it happen for all three of them. Her coaxing, encouraging and loving let them know it was okay to have the relationship they all entered into slowly.
What I hated was the over-the-top villains in the story. I am so over the bitchy shrew who rolls over everyone with her manipulations and threats to get her way. I am over wealthy, entitled, pushy, mean-to-underlings mothers who feel they can say anything to anyone in the name of protecting their child. I hate gushy, mushy endings where everything works out uber-perfectly, where all the people see the error of their ways and readers are supposed to just forgive and forget all the wrongs done in the book.
I have tried to read other Nicole Stewart novels, as she is a big fan of the MMF romances, and none that I have read came close to Derek's poignancy. I liked the complexity of the story here, going beyond the "couple looking to spice things up" angle so many other authors take. It was a nice break from my normal vanilla romances.
This book was over the top. So much packed between that TITLE PAGE and THE END!
So much happens in this book as our three main characters transverse having a relationship that is not the norm and that Conservative people would not just frown upon but forbid, ridicule and spew hate.
Much happens with the supporting characters almost like little stories within the main but told by our main characters as they observe the goings.
There is drama, intrigue, a bit of identity crisis, trust issues and nay sayers or what maybe perceived as such. BUT, there is love, romance, understanding, support, tears and laughter a a WHOLE lot of steam!
Owen is in a polyamorous relationship with Derek and Adelaide but he is afraid of coming out especially to his parents. Owen believes that if he does his business will suffer and his parents will hate him.
Derek is ready to come out and tired of always hiding in the shadows of how he feels. He's in love with both Addie and Owen and wants everyone to know about it. Because Owen is so against telling anyone, Derek feels that the relationship is not going to last.
Adelaide is happy and love her life now. She didn't believe in love and now being in a relationship with both Owen and Derek she wants it all to be true. She has her doubts and because of Owen's insecurity she wonders if she should fold her hand and walk away from the one relationship she has only ever felt is real.
Owen's parent's 30th Anniversary is coming up and he asks Addie to plan a celebration for them. What starts off as something that is supposed to be unforgettable turns into a nightmare for all three of them. With all the secrets, lies and backstabbing will their relationship even make it? Will they come out and let everyone know they are in love with each other? Who will tell their secret first? The book is filled with so much drama and other characters that at times you will feel like jumping into the book to kick someone's butt yourself (Scarlet). An awesome follow up to "Becoming Derek" and I'm hoping there will be a third book to this series. I am so in love with Nicole's books that I just can't find anything wrong with them. The book is truly a MUST READ. So please enjoy.

I will never pass up a Nicole Stewart book! She is my quintessential go-to author for my ever growing love of MMF stories! I have read quite a few of Ms. Stewart's MMF books and they get better and steamier with each one! After reading Becoming Derek and seeing how Derek, Owen and Addie start their beautiful menage relationship, I was wondering where Ms. Stewart would go with the sequel. Oh boy does she run them around a never ending roller coaster of emotions and relationship pitfalls.
This is from Ms. Stewart's description of the book and it is a spot on summary of what you will get to read with her books!

well i want to give this one 3.5 stars. It was a really well written story and had all the good elements a romantic story should have. it was sexy, and dramatic.
main thing i didnt like was that Addie really didnt need to be in it. it was very clearly a love story between Owen and Derek. I kind of felt Addie was there just so the story would be labeled as a "bisexual romance" instead of a "gay romance". the heat between owen and derek didnt even compare to the heat between either of them and Addie. Every sex scene they had with addie made me feel like she was just a bystander except for the one in the dressing room.
This is an amazing, and , yes, sexy, story of 3 people finding each other and falling in love. Addie is a beautiful character. I loved her to bits. The boys? How to describe them? You'll just have to read the TWO books yourselves. They’re a must!
Embracing Derek follows on from Becoming Derek and I have to say I loved it. I felt a bit sorry for Owen at times for having to keep his bisexual menage relationship with Derek and Addie a secret but sometimes when you're a grown man you just have to sack up. It was fun, sexy, with a tad angst thrown in, it's well written with a great story line. It's well worth the read you won't be disappointed.
After reading Becoming Derek (the prior book), I wondered what would happen after the trio of Derek, Addie and Owen committed to each other. I think Embracing Derek was a great continuation of their love story. The story picks up after a little time has passed. While Derek and Addie are openly in a relationship, Owen continues to hide that he is with them. He is terrified it will affect his relationship with his family and maybe impact his career. They story centers around Owen wanting to have a huge anniversary party for his parents while still trying to keep his lifestyle a secret.
I really liked that Derek had found some real personal growth from the beginning of book one. Addie has really turned her business into a success. They both still have some of their old wounds but they are really working to better themselves. Owen seems to be totally stagnant. The author does a good job of rolling out why he can't move forward. He's scared with good reason.
There are a lot of side characters in this story. Some of the characters are sassy, some a mean, some are sweet but they all bring a different element to the story. At times I thought the side characters could have been a little more 3 dimensional but if they had been, the book would have been twice as long.
I didn't always feel like the characters' reactions to situation made total sense but I found as each situation resolved I was okay with it. I will admit that the "bad guy" got on my nerves and it's part of the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. And the ending was just so darn over the top. I won't give it away but it was just too much in my opinion.
This book made me smile. I found myself making time to read it. I would recommend this book to anyone who reads m/m and m/m/f stories.
Quotes: "I'm sure they don't mind you staying here, Derek. You and Owen grew up together. It'll look strange as hell with me living here, too. Guys, I don't think it's a good time for me to move in." loc 328
Derek ambled into the office with a confused lok on his face and his thumb hiked over his shoulder. "Owen, what's your high school exchange student girlfriend doing here?" loc 1132
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This review is also on Amazon.
This story had a bit of everything, so if you like your stories with variety I would definitely recommend Embracing Derek. Owen and Derek, have been best friends since childhood. Addie spent her childhood being shuffled through the system, from home to home nearly all her life and it has hardened her. She doesn't let herself get attached. That was until what was suppose to be a one night stands turns into more than any of them ever dreamed.
I loved the first book, so I was really looking forward to this sequel and I wasn't disappointed! I love the mis-match of characters, Derek, Owen and Addie just gel together. I found myself getting cross with Owen, how can he really expect his parteners to support his decision to deceive his family and to have to perform for them. Why can't he see that this hurts Derek and Addie, especially Derek. Derek has little faith in their relationship as it is, but to cause more anxiety and doubt just doesn't make sense. I think Owen is a little delusional, that he feels that hiding who he is, who they are, is the best for all parties concerned, how can that be? Derek and Addie appear to have limitless patience when it comes to Owen, and as the story unfolds, Owen pushes their love and affection and loyalty to the max. The book is so well written, you can't help but react. You become engrossed within their story, their paper lives! Nicole never fails to deliver with her books and Embracing Derek just re-instates her place within MMF Bisexual novels as number 1. This book drags you in and you become embroiled with the pages, feeling angry, upset, bewildered and simply unable to stop reading. You close the final page in need of a shower.....to cool yourself down and to perhaps wash a way a little of that Stewart filth! Such a great read.
Probably closer to 3-1/2 stars overall... this took me a while to get through. There seemed to be so much extraneous info, and I just found myself bored at parts. And it's so long... it felt like maybe parts could have been shortened/summarized/something. And then, it turns out this is two books in one, which I didn't expect, but I suppose having both books together is better than finding out there's a second one that's not included.
The second "book", to me, was more interesting than the first. Derek had seemed sort of like a plodding oaf (but a good looking one) in the first book, but we find that once Owen builds Derek back up, Derek really comes into his own. But he still has those self-defeating thoughts about himself and his life. It doesn't help that Owen needs to keep up the "single" facade while his parents are in town, or that Owen's mother keeps shoving a conniving wench at him. Adelaide has her own self-esteem issues, but reconnecting with her foster father (and her foster father being completely aware and accepting of the threesome's unconventional relationship) helps greatly with that. Owen's mom does not. :-/ And then messages get mixed and things look like they might fall apart. Thankfully, everything works out nicely.
All I can say is WOW, what a hot and steamy MMF read. Nicole Stewart has once again delivered a must read with a great story line.
This is a great continuation of Addie, Derek, and Owen's story from "Becoming Derek". These three have things that they are trying to deal with. Will Owen finally admit that he is in a relationship with Addie and Derek? What will his family think? What will happen when a jealous ex comes into the mix?
There were some great secondary characters that bring a great element to the story. Nicole definitely delivers on the steamy sex scenes and we do get a great HEA. Embracing Derek can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend you read "Becoming Derek" its a great start to their story. Thank you once again Nicole Stewart for a great read.
This is the second book about Derek, Owen and Addie. You should read Becoming Derek first to get a sense of these characters and how they met. I absolutely loved this book. Derek and Addie are seen as the couple from the outside and Owen is their friend. They want to come out to the world that the three of them are together, but Owen just can't do that. As friends and family come to stay with them, things get strained. The three of them love each other, but is that going to be enough for them? When there are hard choices to be made, will Owen admit his love or have to let the loves of his life go. This was a great book about how people don't know what they have until they lose it. I loved the characters in here and loved this threesome. I hope I get another story about them!
I received an ARC for an honest review. First off you need to read the first book (which you will like) in order to understand the characters and where the background. Once you've done that you will absolutely love these three characters even more. The storyline is great and I couldn't put it down. The love scenes are hot as always (yes I called it that because that is what this unique relationship is...a loving one) but the emotional element caught me by surprise but it was a great surprise. I say pick this book up. You'll love the characters even more.
Wow!! I am still loving Owen, Addie and Derek and the intensity that they have with each other. Their heat is amazing and the continuation of their story is so full of emotions that I could not put it down. Bringing Owen's parents to stay with them to celebrate their anniversary rocks the boat. They each have this amazing passion but having outside forces mess with that, it will have you on the edge of your seat, wiping tears and cheering them on. This is such a fantastic love story!!

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.
I LOVED Becoming Derek and this follow up was just as fantastic. I love Derek, Addie and Owen. I did become a bit pissed at the Owen character, but when we got a bit more detail into his back story that faded away. Derek is just a lovable guy. The slow build in Becoming Derek made a great love story. Embracing Derek showed how love can be more than the norms. Those love scenes though...
I laughed, I cried (even in parts where I knew everything was ok the writing was just that real).
Nicole NEVER disappoints! The first book was great, but this follow up- wow, did I thoroughly enjoy it. Makes you go from glad to sad to happy, including a few tears. Loved it!! Thank you. Rec an ARC for an honest review, then bought it for a permanent copy! So glad I did to, as it also contains the first book. Nicole Stewart is awesome!
This story had to have been one if the best wild rides. Derek, Adelaide and Owen will have your heart pounding for many reasons *wiggles brows* Thats only the short of it when you find your sobbing your eyes out to laughing your butt off. It is fantastic! Beautiful! Heart Felt!
This book is about Derek and his best friend Owen coming to embrace the fact that they are bi sexual and they love each other and Addie. There is all kind of emotions. In this book. I really liked this story. Be sure you. Read the first book before you read this book.
Gifted an ARC for an honest review.... When you read a Nicole Stewart book you know what you are getting, conflicted, well written characters, fast paced story, and steamy, hot sex!! Great job, again Nicole.
This a continuation of becoming Derek. Oh I just loved it. So emotional my heart was pounding by the end of this journey. Can't say enough about this book. I highly recommend if you're someone with a open mind and a big heart.
This was such a beautiful story about finding love in one of the most unorthodoxed of ways. Finding not only your sexuality, but finding your inner strength to be and accept who you truly are. So much wonderfully uplifting content about life that it will stick with you.
