R.W. Patterson continues her dark and heartfelt journey in Light and Shadows! Elaine and Ian are running from their shadowy past, desperate to cling to the warmth and safety their relationship promises, but the Lycans that are hunting them have other plans. Patterson puts so much love into her characters it’s hard not to love them! This book is edgy and passionate and had me engrossed until the end! I’m so happy to see that their journey continues from here!

‘Light and Shadows’ is the second book of the ‘Heart and Soul’ series by R. W. Patterson. After reading the enchanting first instalment, ‘Solace from Shadows’, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. I had very high hopes from it and am very glad to say that it surpassed all of my expectations. This is the perfect continuation to Elaine and Ian’s journey to finding ever-lasting love. The story gets even more riveting with action, drama, tension and lots of emotions. The characters have been given so much more depth; their intense and fierce love for each other has been beautifully penned and executed. They are an epic couple; true soulmates and I have fallen in love with the two.

I derived so much pleasure from the author’s effortless and lucid writing as she unfolded Ian’s past and Elaine’s heritage. Her top-notch story-telling skills sucks me right into her books making it an amazing experience while I get lost in her words. Without giving any spoilers, all I can say is that I wasn’t expecting things to take such a dramatic turn and it left me totally surprised (in the best way). Do give this series a go, you’re going to love it! Somebody give me part 3 please!

Back with the second instalment in the Heart and Soul series, R.W Patterson really delivers! Ian and Elaine are an intriguing couple to follow, as their romance has never been simple or easy, it really is an adventure to watch them overcome the obstacles which come their way. As with the previous book, the romance and action are perfectly balanced, making this a difficult book to put down. In a genre full of mediocre offerings, I am glad to say that this series really stands out as something original and captivating- I can hardly wait to start the next book!

Fantastic follow up

In this, book two of the heart and soul series, we meet again with Ian and Elaine.

She's a firecracker with a painful past that she is still, slowly, healing from and he's a patient man with a complicated soul (literally). When these two are in a room the walls will melt or crumble with hardly any footing between the two outcomes.

In this book not only do we get resolution for the cliffhanger in book one, but we also get glimpses of the two main characters inner thoughts and past that help them evolve in the story. What unfolds before us is is more than just longing passion mixed with the desire to love, and live, again. It's the growth of a relationship that has paranormal elements that doesn't feel forced or false. It's the discovery of things that scratch the surface to a mysterious past. It's the opening of two slows trying to make room for the other in their own life without losing themselves.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: this is a paranormal slice of life read.

I highly enjoyed this book and the twists and turns that greeted me on every page. 5 out of 5 stars read, hands down. I have recommend this book to others and urge you to give it a try as well. ☺
