Princess Slave

Rate this book
Princess Avaegna of Tonyeh wasn’t supposed to be married off to the Kohnzi warrior, Prince Stohsz. That was supposed to be her older sister’s fate. She hadn’t been raised as the usual Tonyeh woman, content to keep a house, raise children and defer to her man. Indulged by her father and five older brothers, they taught her to fight, ride, and use a crossbow with deadly accuracy. But when her sister dies unexpectedly, she is required to step into her sister’s tiny, pristine shoes.

In the end, it is much worse for her than she could ever imagine, as she is stripped of everything she ever knew and brought to live with a man who seems to know her better than she knows herself – especially when it comes to handling her in – and out – of their shared bedroom. He makes discoveries about her deepest self and exposes them to her, forcing her to confront her darkest desires.

After he kept her cloistered in his room for long, dark months, she is suddenly brought into the spotlight and required to accompany him and his warriors on a raid of a neighboring town – despite the other men’s misgivings about having a female along.

When push comes to shove, though, she is more than willing to fight for herself, and ends up getting much more than she bargained for.

Carolyn was one of you as a kid, with the intriguing seeds planted in her head of the shivering thrill-thoughts that came with words like spanking, or discipline. As with you, those kinds of words and thoughts connected the heated blush of her cheeks with feelings elsewhere, which got more and more interesting the older she got.

I bet you know just what I'm talking about.

Like some, she started writing down these thoughts, escaping into short stories of reluctant heroes willing to take someone they love in hand when it's for her own good... and more shadowy thoughts as her imagination matured.

And like some, she started sharing her writings in newsgroups once she gained some confidence.

There's nothing like the perfectly-turned phrase, the handful of words that can make a feeling wash over you. And if you're reading this, then you have within you some intense feelings that most of the world doesn't understand -- but Carolyn does, and she writes those passions with wondrous abandon. Her specialties are Spanking Romance and Adult Ageplay, so we've grouped the many examples of her work that way.

Spanking Romance Classics are sweeping love stories which dare (in a very un-PC way) to allow their heroine to feel the special love of a strong man who will take her in hand when it's best for her. Carolyn writes very real, rich characters and stories that aren't just excuses to jump from spanking scene to spanking scene. If the timeless tango of pursuing ardor touches you, and the head-rush of Adoring Discipline intrigues you, then you'll love Carolyn's stories!

FROM PRINCESS TO SCAIRN

Carolyn Faulkner writes dark erotic horror in very vivid details, and the Princess Slave is right there in that category. Princess Avaegna, or Avette to her friends, of Tonyeh, was the second or lesser daughter. Her oldest sister was to be the one in line to marry the Kohnzi warrior, Prince Stohsz, but after her sister's death to fever, she was next in line and has no choice. She wasn’t raised to run a household, cook and raise children. Instead, she trained with her brothers in weapons and combat. Stohsz comes to Tonyeh with his father, strips Avette in front of everyone and starts punishing her until she submits to him, and then under some crazy rule, he can choose to take her as his bride or his scairn, a slave, and that is what he does to her. “One night and she’d lost her soul to him.”

The plot has Princess Avaegna, Avette, going from royalty to slave, in front of her father’s kingdom and then removed and taken by Prince Stohsz and forced to submit to his punishment, rape, and rule. He parades her in front of the people of Kohnzi nude and even punishes her in front of them. The story is full of painful punishments and treatment, and she is even called a chaisson, pain lover. The story is very detailed in the various punishments and sexual exploits. If you are looking for a sweet, romantic love story with two people madly in love with each other, then this isn’t the story for you.

Carolyn Faulkner did it again. I loved this story. No one writes a world where male dominance and female submission is not just expected but is the law, like she does. The feisty heroin is thrown into a position that was meant for her sister and holds her head high even while being subjugated. She learns to not only love the pain but embrace it. Even though she is made a slave instead of the princess in which she is entitled to be, by the end she has the respect of the people, the King, and her master. She my rightfully be called Queen one day but to her King she will always be a slave to his dark passion. Narration was done fabulously.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Lyric. While the story might be interesting (thus 3 stars), the narration was absolutely off-putting. It took me forever to finish listening because of the staccato, breathless quality of the narration. It made the story feel choppy and disjointed, which is not the experience I’ve had with Faulkner’s other books.

Princess Avaegna never intended to submit to a man, but when her sister dies, she no longer has a choice. Promised to Prince Stohsz, he refuses to accept anything other than her complete surrender. For the sake of her people and her own survival she has no choice but to go with the Kohnzi prince. Somewhere along the way Avaegna begins to find pleasure in the prince's harsh treatment, but struggles to completely accept her life as a Kohnzi slave.

This story starts out as a non-consenual kidnapping of sorts and slowly turns into a love story. The evolution between the two story lines was well paced. I particularly liked Avaegna's struggle to accept her new life, especially the idea of finding sexual pleasure in pain. Although the story contained numerous non-consenual scenes and harsh discipline I didn't find the story to be particularly dark. The author provided Avaegna with enough choices to keep it from being truly dark.

This was an enjoyable story to read. The characters were very well developed, especially for such a short story. I do wish it was longer, so the author could have spent more time describing the two different cultures. Overall though, it's definitely worth reading.

Wow! This is a great dark erotica story with punishment and erotic scenes dominating the prose. With non-consensual harsh punishments, this book is not for everyone; however fans of Carolyn Faulkner's dark erotica will not be disappointed. Avette went from princess to sex slave and, although she agreed to it, she doesn't fully accept her new circumstances. Her body, however, seems to like the harsh treatment which increases her humiliation exponentially. Stohsz is a warrior, the best, and he will accept only total submission from his slave. He loves that Avette responds to everything he does to her, as he prides himself on being able to bring a woman to ecstasy. This book is extremely well-written with public scenes as well as private. The plot is simple, but does have twists, and sets up the characters and erotica very nicely. I highly recommend this book for non-con fans.

This is my honest review for my ARC copy. This is a darker tale of a Princess that was sent to marry in the stead of her sister, not wishing to, but left no choice. She’s never been treated as a slave, dubbed his ‘pain lover’, and after a year, the treatment only grew harsher. She finds herself free of him and treated like the princess she is, only to come face to face with her old ‘master’ once more. She’d missed his treatment…missed him. Feared that nothing would be the same now that she’d been honored as a princess. But he assures her she has much to atone for when she returns with him to his world…and in the end, she has the best of both worlds, and his love.

This was a dark book. The main male character in the book is a strong and at first, uncaring individual who takes the princess, not for his bride but for his slave. He is rather arrogant and cruel in the beginning of the book. He is a sadist. At first I wasn't sure I would enjoy the book because of how unfeeling and cruel he seemed. If rape isn't something you want to read about, I wouldn't read this book. The discipline in the book is very harsh as well. However, the princess learns to submit and it seems even crave the dark prince's harsh treatment. When given the chance to return to a since of normalcy, she chooses to remain his slave. As the book continues, you see a sort of harsh love grow from the treatment she receives. I gave this book a four. It was well written with dynamic and well-rounded characters. It is a bit harsh and if that is something you care not to read, this is not the book for you.

This book starts out intense with the Prince attempting to spank the princess into submission. The princess is defiant until the very end and he takes her, not as his wife and princess, but as his slave. He keeps her this way- as a slave- naked and frequently punished. This book is classic Carolyn Faulkner- who I love, and it elicited a lot of strong feelings from me. The prince humiliates Avette, punishes her, isolates her. He makes her body respond against her will. There are times I want her to fight harder against him, and others I want her to show her suffering more to get through to this hard headed man that even if he is master, he should cherish her more. But in spite of these strong reactions, or maybe because of them, I still loved this erotic tale and highly recommend it.
I received this book as an ARC, but the review is honest and all my own.

Because of the untimely death of her older sister, Princess Avaegna of Tonyeh is now to be married off to the ultimate Kohnzi warrior, Prince Stohsz. Avette was raised to submit to no man. She unwillingly submits to save her people. In the process, she loses her stature as a princess and becomes a slave to Kohnzi in every way imaginable. The discovery along the way in this DS relationship is that she enjoys the pain/pleasure he inflicts and he grows to have affection for her in the process. A dark, interesting story told as only Carolyn Falkner can. I only wish more background would have been revealed about the setting of the story.

I decided to read this story and try out a new genre (sci-fi). I was less than impressed, mainly with the lack of plot development. There was minimal information provided on the two races/species which made the story feel very choppy at times. The punishment and sex scenes were well-written and very descriptive. I found the characters to be a bit stiff and unrelatable though that could be intentionally done by the author. I will say that I have read quite a few books by Carolyn Faulkner and this is the first one that was not to my taste. I look forward to her next foray in pretty much anything other than sci-fi.

I was given an ARC in exchange for a honest review

Review:
This is a Carolyn Faulkner book and is a dark romance with harsh punishment and graphic sexual scenes. She starts out as a princess and becomes a sex slave. He is a prince who makes her confront her desires for pain, rough sex and submission. He treats her harshly but doesn't harm her and although she fights him, she ends up giving him her submission and the dark romance has a happy ever after ending. I was given this ARC by the publisher for an honest review and the thoughts and opinions are mine.

This was an interesting short story – Princess becomes slave, endures an incredible variety of punishments from her prince and captor, and gets pleasure from them – and in the end, becomes his wife. My problems with the book were the ending, which I thought was too brief – it could have been stretched out a little more – and the incredible number and variety of punishments which she endured – some of which stretched my belief that anyone could get erotic pleasure from them. Nevertheless, I liked the story and the characters, and the ending made good sense, even if it was too short.

This was a good book, right in Ms. Faulkner's wheel house. If you don't enjoy extreme and harsh punishments, this book is not for you. That being said, I enjoyed this book more than I have enjoyed the last couple of Faulkner books. I think it is because I never expected any romance in this book, so my expectations were correct. And while there was little to no romance in this story, I enjoyed it because I connected with the characters. And the heat was intense! If this is a genre you enjoy, this book is a good read.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

I enjoyed the book. Kohnzi is a warrior who is suppose to marry the princess Avaegna. Instead he makes her his slave. Avaegna rebels against him and refuses to submit but through severe and quite severe punishments Kohnzi wins out. Avaegna is confused herself because she comes to like the pain and Kohnzi knows how to give it to her. In the end love for a master wins out.

I received this book for an arc. This is a master-slave book. It is hardcore BDSM. If you aren't into that then this book isn't for you. If you are it is an excellent read. The prince is extremely strict and delivers harsh punishments, however the princess starts to crave that. I was wishing for a bit more character development but it was still very enjoyable.

I thought this story was good except it was to short. I kind of felt like it left me hang at the end. The book is a fast read, it took me only half of a day to read it.
Note: I received a copy of this book for my honest review.

Loved this!

Another winner from Ms. Faulkner! Starts a little dark but moves into the light with a wonderful story set in another world. I enjoyed every minute of it, as usual!
